This may be a little cheesy, but I’ve always loved the Muppets and this is pretty creative.  Also, the character of Animal was one of the reasons that I started drumming.  Enjoy:

Schwervon! Is a two piece rock band. Nan and Matt have been a couple longer than they have been a band. Their relationship influences their art. Their art influences their relationship. They are two birds of a different feather. You might say one flies and one rolls and they meet in the middle with two halves of the worm. They are a collaboration. Is one Sonny and one Cher? Is one a pop lover and one a noise lover? Why do they both love food so much? Why are they obsessed with their cat Gummo?

They started making up songs soon after they met amongst the fertile Indie Rock gutters of New York City, with Nan pounding the drums (learning to play, she figured, would happen as she went along – which it did) and Matt reawakening his high school electric guitar rockability. Their music is a celebration of imperfect love through jagged rock minimalism. Sometimes they write lyrics on the train. Sometimes they steal lines from eavesdropping on other people’s conversations. They were DIY long before it was a marketing strategy, mixing and recording the bulk of their music in their cramped little apartment on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. They call it Olive Juice Music.

I am still bumping Man On The Moon.

I’ve been hit by the Luda bug. I somehow came and started bumping ALL the Luda I have in my iPod and have fallen back in love with the man. I think it’s because me and my twin Luis were talking southern Rap and the train wreck that IS Gucci Mane – i went on a rant about how T.I. – Luda & Wayne are the only southern rappers I fuck with because they’ve branched out beyond just being SOUTHERN rappers. The south is home to ALOT of my favorite R&B singers  I just can’t do the rap thing, sorry.

I know a lot of my friends Male and Female can relate to this song. You don’t have to admit it to me. But this is for you. Stay Positive, Stay Open, Stay Believing.

This will NOT, i repeat, NOT be a REGGAETON MUSIC 101 blog post. If you don’t know about it you probably have never been exposed to it. This is not going to feature GASOLINA *throws up* or OYE MI CANTO *gags* because in my opinion that is not real reggaeton – it’s like saying Lollipop represents all rap music – commercial bullshit.

Reggaeton to me was introduced to me when I was in 5th gradeishh (ish meaning it’s a guesstimation) but I wasn’t a full fledged fan until 2003 when Mas Flow dropped, I was 13.

Now if you know anything about reggaeton you know how sexually driven it is – it makes the Back That Ass Up video by the Hot Boys look like it belongs on Christian Radio. So I think I should grace you with some of my favorites. Most of the videos will probably be corny fan made YouTube clips but some of the Official Videos might be either a)poor budgeted ghetto shit or b)NSFW – enjoyy

what does “te puso a bellaquiar” mean? in laymans terms “and he got you in his bed” – in the easiest sing song way ever. if you speak Spanish you understand how NOT innocent these lyrics are.

Hector y Tito – Cae a La Noche

You’ll notice quickly there are a lot of DUOS in Reggaeton. Kinda like, T-Wayne before their time. HE SINGS. HE RAPS. The singer usually gets the most love – love meaning that the choruses and hooks in these songs are easier to remember – the raps are usually when we bump and grind, unless they have good ad libs. HEY HEY ESTAMOS VIVO Y PERRIANDO. You’ll also notice these guys are dressed horribly, even for 2003. Reggaeton still doesn’t get the shine it should so they’ve gotta go with whatevers in the closet already. *kanye shrug*

Mayor Que Yo – Wisin & Yandel,Daddy Yankee,Baby Ranks & Tony Tun Tun

Now this shit right here is off Mas Flow 2 which dropped in 04/05.. probably THE HOTTEST song off the album because it got MAJOR air play. Has some of the biggest names in reggaeton & it’s cute. All about not caring that the woman is older than he is .. he still wants her in her bed. & yes, that’s a direct translation. The addition of the merengue during certain parts makes it fun for everyone because lord knows you aren’t dancing merengue when the music speeds up. Dagger action anybody? YES PLEASE. Oh Goodness. The horrible sexual things reggaeton made us kids do lol People uesd to go INSANE when this song came on. ESO ESO CON QUE SE COME CON QUESOOO!

quick translation of the title – THE BED. first line? “welcome to my bed. they call her a veteran. she has a bad reputation. because this is where i put in my work” =] such nice men. the squeaking in the background doesn’t hurt either.

Te Hago El Amor – Zion y Lennox

Sounds ballady right? EH, kinda. The title says “I’ll make love to you” and yeah it is kinda cute. But don’t let that fool you. Still super sexually driven. Classic, yes. Horny, still.

paleta.. means Lollipop.. so you could imagine what this is about, especially the way the girls are singing the word PALETA. this shit legit reminds me of this slut named Sonia from my neighborhood. I hope she sees this so she knows a song about giving oral sex reminds me of her.

No Puedo Estar Sin ti – Plan B

Now other songs in Espanol have the same title with way purer plots. No puedo estar sin ti means I cannot live without you. Cute, right? “No puedo estar sin ti, si no te tengo aqui. Prefiero morir, no puedo estar sin sexo” – I cannot live without you if you’re not here. I’d rather die. I can’t live without sex. then they go on with the baja panty. bajar = to lower. panty.. panties.. yeah lol

I don’t mean to bash reggaeton at ALL i LOVE this music. But it makes me laugh what I’d sing along to at age 15 when I had no idea what it was. Shit still gets me OPEN at parties. Just not open enough, ha. To end it I give you the typical old school song. One of the first reggaeton one hit wonders, before WHATAGATAPITUSBERRY, before PEPE, before GASOLINA trash.

Damnn Big Sean is definitely livin’ the life!  In his Weekend Recap #5 webisode, he heads to Chicago to stop by RSVP Gallery to pick-up his custom diamond “Pow” necklaces from Verbal’s luxury end of Ambush Jewelry, Antonio Murphy.  While he’s in the area he has to go to Purdue University for a performance.  It was probably a very long weekend for him, but a great one at the same time.  Btw, if anyone knows the song that’s playing in the car, be sure to let me know.
