La nueva herramienta de colaboración del buscador permitirá que usuarios puedan trabajar juntos en tiempo real mediante chat, fotos, videos y documentos.

Google continúa con su expansión de aplicaciones gratuitas para sus usuarios y esta vez anuncia la disponibilidad de Google Wave, una nueva herramienta de colaboración donde los usuarios pueden interactuar creando “olas” entre sí agregando texto, fotos, gadgets e incluso video de otras fuentes de la web.

Google describe a una ola como parte documento y parte conversación, donde los usuarios pueden trabajar juntos en tiempo real y puede ser utilizado para producir contenidos persistentes o simplemente chatear.

Este proyecto, relata el blog oficial del buscador, se comenzó a gestar desde mayo de este año

“Hoy estamos contentos de anunciar que estaremos enviando más de 100 mil invitaciones para testear (probar) a Wave a los desarrolladores que estuvieron activos en los desarrollos preliminares que comenzaron en junio, a los primeros usuarios que se inscribieron y nos dieron sus impresiones en wave.google.com y a los clientes selectos de Google Apps“, dijo Lars Rasmussen, director de ingeniería de esta joven empresa.

Rasmussen agregó que le pedirán a algunos de estos usuarios iniciales de nominar gente que conocen y estos también recibirán invitaciones de Google Wave, después la invitación se extenderá a todos los usuarios de Google.

Google Wave está aún en fase beta o de prueba, le están haciendo diversas mejoras pero ya puede utilizarse. Para aquellos que deseen recibir invitaciones para utilizar esta aplicación en el futuro, Lars informó que podrían ingresar en la dirección http://wave.google.com/

Har dere hørt om hampmelk?

Det var en ting som vekket min interesse og tankene mine begynte å surre rund hva dette var da, så da var det bare å taste inn i google!

Hampmelk lages av hampfrø, og blander man dem med vann og har det oppi en blender og blander det godt sammen vil det bli en super base for eksempel til smoothies! Fin og naturlig kilde til  omega-3 (sunt fett), protein og fiber!

Jeg er en flittig bruker av googel, bruker det når jeg finner ting jeg vil vite mer om eller synes noe virker rart, for ekempel i reklamer.

Merinoull har hvert et omstridt tema, og for knapt 1 år siden hadde kjæresten min burdag. Da fant jeg ut at jeg ville gi han en go og pen ullgenser, siden han har bursdag i november er jo det akkurat i tida for å bruke en slik gave. Hans merinoull genser ble en hit og holdt han varm og god vinteren gjennom, men så begynte jeg så smått å få høre litt om merino ull.

Det har seg nemmelig slik at i butikken jeg kjøpte den i spilte selgeren veldig på at det var merinoull, dette var eksklusivt og kvalitet noe prislappen også bekreftet. Og jeg tenkte: Kun det beste for verdens beste kjæreste. Og om selgeren hålt det hun låvet? kvalitet ja.

Det har seg nemmelig slik at disse stakkars merinosauene lider sterkt for at vi skal ha fine og varme gensere! Merino sauen blir flådd levende uten noen form for bedøvelse for å sikre kvaliteten på ulla! På grunn av at fluer legger egg i huden på dyrene og for å sikre at ullen ikke tar skade blir store biter av huden som er mest utsatt for flue angrep skåret bort uten bedøvelse. Dette for at ull ikke skal bli ødelagt å gå til spille!

Dette har pågått siden 1930-tallet og jeg synes det er helt forkastelig! Jeg kommer til å ta avstand fra å kjøpe slike produkter. Om det er eksklusivt å gå med klesplagg av ulla av et dyr som har blitt lemslet og pint slik? Det mener virkelig ikke jeg! Hvorfor er eksklusive produkter fra dyr, produkter der dyret har lidd for at vi skal få det “eksklusivt”?

Nesehorn, hvor di kapper av hornet til nesehornet eller haifinner hvor di hiver haien tilbake i havet slik at den ikke kan svømme å blir liggende på havets bunn til den dør. Dette er såkaldte eksklusive varer. Jeg skjønner det ikke, da vil jeg heller ha eksklusiv sjokolade som er økologisk og håndlaget elle, en bunad, selbuvotter, selbulester og andre rettferdige varer.

Jeg blir helt opprørt!

Man finner desverre produkter med merinoull i mange av di store merkevarene, et eksempel er Swix som leverer varer for ullvang serien og pierre robert wool collection. (Se hvordan di reklamerer med akkurat merinoull i tv reklamen til pierre)

Hvis du vil unngå å kjøpe produkter med merinoull kan du spørre, om det ikke står på merket, i butikken hvilken ull det er i butikken og/eller hvor ulla kommer fra. Ikke kjøp merinoull garn. Spør etter økologisk ull, i økologisk ullproduksjon forekommer ikke denne typen dyremisshandling.

عندما فكرSergey Brin و Larry Page في اسم لمحرك البحث الذي قرروا انتاجه, أختارا اسم googol -والذي له معنى وقصة لوحده- ولكنهما أخطئا في الاملاء فكتباه google وأخطئا في املاء ذلك مرة أخرى فكتباه googel وبهذا اصبح googel  هو نفسه google !!

During the last few weeks I’ve been rediscovering the loverly and meticulous world of CSS, XHTML, HTML and website construction in general, working to revise my own website. Since constructing the original last year, I have decided that the layout, colour scheme, graphic identity and page orientation no longer conveys exactly what I want, how I’d like to be received or exactly what I do (process and interpretive work?! why did i include these!?!).

As such, I have been working to redesign it based on a text-heavy layout vs. picture or flash: like many digital artists and webmasters, I’ve realised the unavoidable truth about website traffic: TEXT GETS MORE HITS. As many visitors browse sites based on keyword searches via engines such as google or yahoo, it only makes sense that the more active and available text keywords present on your site, the more hits your site will receive, as the site robots only understand text (and not images). This is probably the single most serious problem with flash and image-based website design, and a huge part of my decision to revise. I expect it will be some time before I complete and upload the new design, as I have been rather busy lately, but here are some previews…

Ford, GM to cover car payments if buyer loses job

DETROIT (AP) — Ford Motor Co. and General Motors Corp. are offering payment protection plans to help reassure consumers who may be putting off buying a new car because of worries about losing their job. The offers come as auto sales have been battered by the recession and tight credit, reaching their lowest levels in 27 years.

Ford said Tuesday it will cover payments of up to $700 each month for up to a year on any new Ford, Lincoln or Mercury vehicle if consumers lose their jobs. The program runs until June 1.

Hours later, GM said it will make a similar offer. GM’s new CEO, Fritz Henderson, said the company will make up to nine car payments of $500 each for customers who have lost their jobs through no fault of their own.

Customers must qualify for state unemployment to be eligible for the program. The program starts April 1 and runs until April 30.

Hyundai Motor Co. launched a program in January that allows buyers to return a vehicle within a year if they can’t make the payments due to a job loss or disability. The company said the program helped it avoid a double-digit sales decline last month, reporting a 2 percent slide.

Dearborn, Mich.-based Ford is also offering zero percent financing on certain Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles.

“Consumers remain anxious about the economy and their own outlook for the future,” Ken Czubay, vice president of sales and marketing, said in a statement.

The announcements come a day after President Barack Obama said the government will back new car warranties issued by GM and Chrysler LLC, who have accepted federal assistance and are seeking more, to help boost consumer confidence about buying their vehicles.

Ford has not requested federal bailout funds.

Ford also said it would partner with its dealers to introduce a program that would help local charities affected by the economic downturn.

Shares of Ford rose 2 cents to $2.78 in afternoon trading Tuesday, while GM shares dropped 54 cents, or 20 percent, to $2.16.

Google ready to pursue its agenda in Washington

Its employees supported Obama, and four Googlers served on his transition team. Now the Internet giant hopes to win support for network neutrality and expanding high-speed Internet access.

Reporting from Washington — Another inauguration took place in Washington this week — Google Inc. officially became a political power player.

In October, Google was only hours from being sued by the Justice Department as a Web-search monopolist. Today, less than three years after it made its first Washington hire, the Internet giant is poised to capitalize on its backing of President Obama and pursue its agenda in the nation’s capital.

 Google’s executives and employees overwhelmingly supported Obama’s candidacy, contributing more money than all but three companies or universities. And only DreamWorks employees gave more toward inauguration festivities.

Google Chief Executive Eric Schmidt campaigned for Obama and was one of four Googlers on his transition team. He is now as likely as any corporate chieftain to get his calls to the White House returned.

At the top of the company’s policy priorities are two that consumer advocates largely champion. First, it wants to expand high-speed Internet access so people can use its Web services more often. It also is pushing for so-called network neutrality: prohibitions on telecommunications companies charging websites for faster delivery of their content.

“Google is not just a benign corporate entity. It has a variety of special interests,” said Jeff Chester, the executive director of the Center for Digital Democracy, who has sparred with Google over data-privacy issues. “They’re in a great position to push their agenda through with the support of the president and the Democrats in Congress.”

But Google’s newfound political ties heighten concerns about its grip on the online advertising market. The company could play better defense against strong competitors trying to curb its influence.

Last fall, Justice Department lawyers, who had been lobbied heavily by Microsoft Corp. and large telecommunications companies, were about to sue Google on antitrust grounds. They wanted to block its controversial search-advertising partnership with Yahoo Inc., but Google abandoned the deal rather than fight in court.

Competitors worry about Google’s close relationship with the Obama administration, said Bill Whalen, a research fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution.

“The question going forward is: Will Google turn into just another business entity looking for favors in Washington, or will it manage to keep the 767 flying at 30,000 feet above the political din?” he said, a reference to the Google founders’ private plane.

White House officials did not respond to requests for comment. Obama vowed generally this week that his administration would not be beholden to anyone.

Google says the main reason it has improved its standing in Washington is that Obama’s tech priorities mirror its own. He has endorsed network neutrality. His technology agenda also calls for expanding broadband Internet access to rural areas and appointing the first government-wide chief technology officer (Schmidt has been mentioned for the position but reiterated this week that he was not interested).

“This administration is more focused on science and technology,” Schmidt said in an interview. “That’s positive for all of technology, and particularly Google.”

Symbolizing its new stature, the company co-hosted a glitzy Inauguration Day party here. The event was studded with celebrities, including Ben Affleck, Jessica Alba and Glenn Close. Though Obama did not make an appearance, the event drew influential political figures such as Obama transition chief John Podesta and Sens. Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) and John F. Kerry (D-Mass.).

“A lot of people are united to create a grass-roots service democracy, and Google is playing a bigger role in that than anyone knows,” Craigslist founder Craig Newmark said as dance music echoed through the grand Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium.

Obama’s campaign and administration have already embraced Google products. Video of his weekly address is available on YouTube. During the shift from the transition office to the White House, Obama’s press office staff created free e-mail accounts on Gmail until their government accounts were activated.

In November 2007, Obama unveiled his “innovation agenda” during a visit to Google’s Silicon Valley campus. And at an economic forum in Florida two weeks before the presidential election, Obama praised the company as “a cutting-edge innovator.”

On stage with him in Florida was Schmidt, who had publicly endorsed Obama days before. (He said that the support was personal and that the company remained officially neutral.) Schmidt also appeared in a 30-minute infomercial for Obama, and he was appointed to the Transition Economic Advisory Board after the election.

Google’s spokesman in Washington, Adam Kovacevich, said that despite Schmidt’s personal support for Obama, the company has a bipartisan strategy.

“We know that the incoming administration supports a lot of things that we like,” he said. “But we also know you cannot get anything done here unless you have relationships on both sides of the aisle.”

The company’s political action committee gave 57% of its $264,000 in contributions during the 2008 campaign cycle to Democrats, and 43% to Republicans. Google also had a presence at both party’s national conventions last summer.

But Google’s employees left little doubt whom they supported. They contributed $782,964 to Obama’s campaign and just $20,800 to John McCain’s , according to the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics. Googlers also donated $166,000 for Obama’s inauguration.

Still, the company doesn’t have a clear path in Washington.

Its biggest rival, Microsoft, came in third on the list of top Obama contributors (it has more than three times as many employees as Google). And Microsoft’s PAC handed out nearly three times as much money in 2008 as Google’s did.

Microsoft is an old hand here after facing down the government in an antitrust battle a decade ago. And its savvy shows: Sanford C. Bernstein analyst Jeffrey Lindsay said Microsoft outmaneuvered Google last year, drumming up opposition that helped derail the Yahoo search deal.

Gigi Sohn, president of Public Knowledge, a digital rights groups that has worked with Google to advance network neutrality, downplayed concerns about the Web giant’s new clout.

“They can put things on the radar screen that might not otherwise be on the radar screen . . . but it’s a long way from being on the radar screen to being put into law,” she said. “There are people on the opposite side of what Google wants who can pick up the phone too.”
