Google’s Matt Cutts hinted this past week that Google is considering using a site’s speed as part of the algorithm that ranks the order of pages in its search results. Fast sites might rank higher, while slower-loading sites might suffer. It’s a proposal that’s proving controversial.

To quote from Cutts’ video interview on WebProNews:

“We’re starting to think more and more about should speed be a factor in Google’s rankings?

…A lot of people within Google think that the web should be fast, it should be a good experience; and so it’s sort of fair to say if you’re a fast site, maybe you should get a little bit of a bonus. Or maybe if you have a really awfully slow site, users don’t want that as much.”

Reasons for Ranking Fast Sites Higher

1. Google searches are more productive: Giving fast-loading sites a boost in the rankings improves the user experience for those coming from Google.com. You’ll know that if a site is near the top of the results, you won’t be waiting an eternity after clicking.

Who gets the most benefit when millions of sites running AdSense suddenly have a lot more inventory (users click more on faster sites)? Who saves masses of money on crawling the web if web site owners optimize their pages for speed? Which company is able to grow its stock price faster the more people get online and have a good web experience? Google, Google, Google. Publishers get an individual benefit, of course, but in aggregate the value is really greatest for Google itself.

3. The fastest site isn’t always the best result: If I’m searching for a local business, I probably want to find its website. But local businesses rarely have sites optimized for speed; the big business listings sites would almost certainly score higher on the speed metric. The same rule applies across numerous industries: speed and relevance are not related.

1. Toolbar Pagerank and Pagerank are two different, unsynchronised measurements based on the number and quality of links that pass pagerank to a particular page.
2. Google Toolbar Pagerank Not Visible? Just because a page has a Toolbar grey bar does not mean a page has no real pagerank – it can mean that of course, but it can mean other things. I’ve theorised Toolbar Grey Pages do not pass pagerank to external sites, and may be an indication Google has an issue with the page.
3. A white Google Toolbar generally signifies that the page has a measure of Real Pagerank, and that Pagerank score will be reflected in the next Pagerank update (which happens whenever Google decides will happen) – one of the most common questions about Pagerank is “When Is The Next Google Pagerank Update?
4. The fast way to lose PR is to openly sell links on your website. This is now officially against Google Webmaster Guidelines for inclusion.
5. The most common reason for a drop in Toolbar Pagerank is simply your website is recieving less Pagerank via the links it has pointing to it from other sites. This could be because the pages those links on them have less PR to give, the links themselves have dissappeared and no linger point to your site, or Google has in fact changed the way Pagerank works.
6. At the moment, a tangible effect when Google penalizes a site, is a reduction of visible Toolbar PR. Many sites who openly manipulated Google SERPS via paid review blogging and link-selling had their Google PR dramatically reduced in the last quarter of 2007 in Google’s opening salvo in the “war on paid links‘, or so Google would have us believe.
7. Toolbar PR has little or no effect on amount of visitors Google will send you – believe me. Perhaps this is why bloggers who had PR devalued reported no loss of visitors from Google. A reduction in real PR however could see less pages on your site being indexed.
8. Many believe Google can’t find all paid links, and are using the Google Toolbar to spread FUD,
9. If you install the Google Toolbar you will see a green indicator in your Internet Explorer / Firefox toolbar showing you the Google Page Rank of the page. Hovering over the green bar will give you a number which is the page’s Google Page Rank.
10. It’s accepted that Toolbar Pagerank is more than a few months out of date as little as 2 weeks out of date by my observations. That is, Toolbar PR and Real PR.
11. Google Toolbar / DC PR is not an accurate representation of your current Real Page Rank and now that Google openly manipulates what you see, the integrity of the toolbar PR is very questionable indeed in some comminites like the seo community for instance – although in 2009, for most sites, it seems pretty accurate and sensible to me.
12. Think of Google Toolbar PR as ‘an indication of the PR of what your site might have been a couple of weeks ago.
13. To get a higher Page Rank for your domain, you need to get a lot of other pages with PR to link to you. I used an analogy to visualize Google PR, and used this same Google Heat analogy to get a PR 7 site until PR was apparently reduced within the SEO community, and this site fell to PR 5.
14. Page Rank flows, and so can be manipulated, channeled, blocked (with NoFollow) and screwed up. My Google Heat article explains how you can channel PR around a site. Just substitute “Heat” for “PR”.
15. Remember sites don’t have Google Pagerank, pages do. That’s why it’s possible for an internal page to have a higher PR than the home page.
16. The way a page gets Google Page Rank is from links to it and that’s the only way of Increasing Google Pagerank. IBLs (incoming backlinks) from high Google Page Rank pages can give you more Google Page Rank “Juice” than links from low Google Page Rank pages. There is one other factor at play. The Google Pagerank they “give” is spread over the number of outgoing links on the pages. You may get more Google Page Rank benefit from a Google Page Rank 3 page with only two outbound links than a Google Page Rank 5 page with hundreds of outbound links.
17. Google looks to be rolling out PR changes month to month recently. One thing you can be sure off: When Google revises Google Page Rank the fastest way to discover it is at Digital Point.
18. I’ve seen sites go from anywhere from PR 0 to PR 7 in one update although in 2009 it’s MUCH HARDER to manipulate Pagerank the way I used to circa 2007 when Toolbar PR was a joke.
19. One still useful aspect of PR is that when an update happens you can use Toolbar PR to monitor how effectively you have spread potential Google Juice or Google Heat through a site architecture.
20. I could go into Google PR being a recursive algorythim, with decay factored in, and probably pretty far removed from the original Google Pagerank paper created by Larry Page who it’s actually named after, but this is a beginners guide and I don’t know enough about the maths anyway. You don’t need to either. Just get links from other sites!
21. I think a page accrues REAL PAGERANK within hours….

Today at the Ottawa Public Library, Bernard Charlebois of Virtuo Web Technologies spoke about Internet marketing for your business.

Bernard talked about using online promotion to get a return on your investment in a website. Your online marketing strategy doesn’t replace traditional marketing, but complements it.

The most popular methods of online marketing are:

1. Search engine optimization (SEO)
2. Online display advertising
3. Email marketing
4. Social media

Here are some of Bernard’s tips for online marketing:

1. SEO

Good SEO increases the likelihood that your site will be ranked high (appear closer to the top spot) in Google results for searches related to your business offering. In the Google results, you see paid results (highlighted at the top, sidebar results) and organic results (main page content). Your site is ranked in the organic results according to how well the search engine understands your site, and how appropriate your site is to the search.

Google considers over 150 aspects of a website before placing results. When Google indexes your site, it considers:

How it is coded: Make sure your HTML tags accurately describe your website.

How it is written: Provide well-structured content with readable text, bullet points, and paragraphs of no more than five lines. Use meaningful keywords and phrases (more on this below). Make the content relevant to your visitors. Google doesn’t know if your site is interesting, but it does know when visitors click on the back button after arriving on your page.

How it is designed: Build your site with easy navigation and well-organized information.

Keywords – Make sure keywords are unique and relevant to each page. Google has an Adwords tool that provides keyword ideas. For some keywords, the competition is high. In this case, you may find it worthwhile to use paid advertising.

To improve your rank, you could also consider including an internal search engine or a site map on your site. Having other sites linking in to your site also helps.

2. Online display advertising

Banner advertising works well but costs vary considerably. Bernard advises to consider the advertising audience and the price in order to evaluate if this is a good investment for your business.

If you decide to go ahead, make sure you get the feedback you need to decide if the campaign paid off: Which visitors to your site were referred by the banner? What did they do on your website? Did they buy from you, or call or visit your business?

Google Adwords campaigns: You design a short, worded ad using keywords that are relevant to your business. The rank of your ad, or how close it is to the top of the paid results, is based on your keywords and other factors. The ad is sold on a pay-per-click or pay-per-impression basis. When someone clicks on the ad, it will cost you something. (It is actually your goal to get these clicks.) It’s important to set a budget when you launch your campaign.

3. Email marketing

Email newsletters are a low-tech and cost-effective way to market your business. Make sure you ask if people would like to receive your newsletter or flyer before you add them to your mailing list.

Here are some tips for writing good mailouts:

• Use high-impact titles and sub-titles
• Make sure your web address appears early
• Identify your customer’s pain points and propose a solution quickly
• Write with enthusiasm

4. Social media marketing

Promoting yourself or your business with social media raises your visibility and markets your products and services. If you haven’t already done so, consider using the following communities for business promotion:

• LinkedIn
• Twitter
• FaceBook
• MySpace
• YouTube

Other social media tools you may want to try , especially if you have a website, include:

• Blogging
• RSS feeds
• Social bookmarking (Digg)

My first pay-per-click campaign was so scary, it actually kept me awake at night, worried to death that it would fail, and I would lose money I couldn`t afford.

I finally found a system that worked for me, and here it is…

(1) Choose a market with lots of competition, and a product with high gravity. These two things insure that money is being made, both in the market and the specific product you chose.

(2) Think about keywords to use for your campaign: what search terms would YOU enter into a search engine if you wanted to find out more about this market.  Make a note of these keywords.  

(3)    Take the keywords researched in the previous step and enter them into the free Wordtracker tool.  Copy  the lists of keywords that this tool generates into a Notepad and enter them into a free tool like  Good Keywords V2 to get rid of any duplicates.  You now have a list that you will use in step 6, so save it and put it to one side.

(4)  Type the original keywords you thought of in the beginning into Spyfu.com and study the sponsored ads it brings up for those keywords.  Here you will find the most highly promoted offers, the ones that are profitable.

(5)  Click on a few of the highest ranked ads and see where you are directed: Squeeze page or directly to the affiliate product? [If you are not using a squeeze page to get your visitors on your list, you are leaving money on the table].

(6)  Make your keyword list into groups of related keywords:  Take your list of keywords from step 3 and break it into groups of 5 to 15 related keywords, ready to enter into your  Adwords account  

(7)  Create your Google Adwords account and start testing:  Open your Google Adwords account and enter your keyword groups.  Take the plunge and set up an amount per day that you are comfortable with spending.

(8)  After a few days run a Google Adwords Search Query Report: This will tell you what search terms people are using to reach the search page. Now you can eliminate the ineffective keywords and refine your keyword list.

Once you have a successful campaign running, you just rinse and repeat.

2- در بلاگر با استفاده از یک فایل .htaccess نمی‌توانید موتورهای جستجو را از آدرس جدیدتان آگاه سازید و در نتیجه پیج رنکتان(page Rank) را از دست خواهید داد.

3- نه فقط موتورهای جستجو، بلکه افرادی که از طریق لینک وبلاگتان در سایت‌های مختلف به سراغ وبلاگتان می‌آمدند از آدرس مطالب اخیرتان در وبلاگ جدید شما آگاه نیستند مگر آنکه از طریق یک لینک در تمامی مطالبتان این خبر را به آگاهی آن‌ها برسانید، البته این راه‌حل تقریبا برای وبلاگ‌های بزرگ غیر ممکن خواهد بود.

4- وقتی به سیستم وبلاگ‌نویسی جدید می‌روید تقریبا تمامی خوانندگانی که از طریق فید‌خوان وبلاگتان را دنبال می‌کردند را از دست خواهید داد، زیرا RSS وبلاگ قدیمی دیگر بروز نخواهد شد. (این مشکل برای افرادی که از فیدبرنر استفاده می‌کنند وجود ندارد)

5- وقتی شما مشترکان فیدتان و رنکینگتان را از دست دهید بازدیدکنندگان وبلاگتان به شدت کاهش خواهد یافت و در نتیجه بر درآمدی که از طریق تبلیغات گوگل(Google Ads) و موارد مشابه داشته‌اید اثر خواهد گذاشت.

در اینجا راه‌حلی برای شما ارائه می‌دهیم که بتوانید بدون دغدغه  از دست دادن بازدیدکنندگان وبلاگتان، مشترکان فیدتان از بلاگر به وردپرس مهاجرت کنید همچنین با استفاده از این شیوه رنکینگ گوگل نیز به آدرس جدید منتقل خواهد شد.

نکته مهم: قبل از اجرای هر کاری از تمامی قسمت‌های بلاگتان در بلاگر اعم از پست‌ها، کامنت‌ها و قالب XML نسخه پشتیبان تهیه کنید.

مرحله اول: از داشبورد بخش مدیریت وردپرس به منوی Tools و سپس Import بروید، در آن‌جا گزینه‌ی Blogger را انتخاب کنید و تیک مربوط به دسترسی گوگل را بزنید و وبلاگتان را منتقل کنید پس از چند دقیقه تمامی پست‌ها و کامنت‌هایتان به وبلاگ جدید منتقل می‌شود.

مرحله دوم: این فایل را در پوشه Theme وردپرس کپی کنید و سپس نام آن را از blogger.php.txt به blogger.php تغییر دهید.

مرحله سوم: به داشبور وردپرس بگردید و از منوی Page گزینه‌ی Add New Page را انتخاب کنید، عنوان و URL  این صفحه را به مانند بلاگر نگه‌دارید و از لیست موجود Blogger را انتخاب کنید سپس آن را ذخیره نمایید، لازم نیست هیچ اطلاعات دیگری به این صفحه اضافه کنید.

مرحله چهارم: به این آدرس بروید و آدرس کامل وبلاگتان در وردپرس را وارد کنید. این ابزار یک قالب کلاسیک برای وبلاگتان در بلاگر تولید می‌کند.

مرحله پنجم: وارد داشبور بلاگر شوید و از Layout -> Edit HTML گزینه‌ی Revert to Classic Blog را انتخاب نمایید. بر روی Edit Template کلیک کنید و قالب کلاسیکی که در مرحله‌ی قبل تولید کرده بودید را در این‌جا وارد کنید(Copy/Paste)  و سپس با کلیک بر روی Save Template Changes تغییرات اعمالیتان را ذخیره کنید.

پایان: عملیات انتقال به پایان رسید، اگر صفحه‌ای را در بلاگر باز کنید بلافاصله به همان صفحه در وردپرس ارجاع داده می‌شود و تمامی Google Rankها به بلاگ جدید منتقل می‌شود.

بروزرسانی خوراک فید: وقتی از بلاگر به وردپرس می‌روید خوراک فیدتان به خوبی تغییر می‌کند در بلاگر به Settings -> Site Feed بروید و آدرس جدید فید وردپرستان را وارد نمایید، گوگل ریدر، بلاگلاینز و سایرین به صورت اتوماتیک فید جدید را نمایش خواهند داد.

اما چند نکته دیگر:

1- آدرس جدید وردپرستان را به Google Webmaster اضافه کنید، مالکیت آن را تایید کنید و همچنین یک Sitemap از آدرس تمامی صفخاتتان به آن بدهید.

2- وقتی به آدرس جدید می‌روید تصاویر و اسکرین شات‌هایتان که توسط بلاگر/پیکاسا وب میزبانی می‌شود به آدرس جدید منتقل نمی‌شود پس هرگز وبلاگتان در بلاگر را حذف نکنید.

today I’ve got the new high of web design keyword ranking in google.co.th. It’s now the 7th place but my goal still is the top 3 because under the third result of web design keyword, there are google map results that put the other result down of the page.

Anyway for the web hosting SEO is not better enough, maybe it stuck in the google sandbox ha ha. but it’s not surprise me a lot.

Google Page Rank adalah sebuah nilai atau ranking dari halaman web/situs/blog yang diberikan oleh mesin pencari Google yang nilainya ditentukan dari algoritma pagerank yang dibuat oleh pendiri Google yaitu Lawrence Page and Sergey Brin.

Google Page Rank terdiri dari sepuluh angka penilaian yaitu dari 0 s/d 10. Jika sebuah situs mempunyai page rank dengan nilai 0 atau -N/A, itu artinya blog itu belum mendapatkan Page Rank dari Search Engine Google. Jika sebuah blog mempunyai page rank 1 dari google itu artinya blog itu sudah mendapat penilaian ranking dari Google. Sampai dengan Peringkat 10 yang menjadi penilaian terbaik dari Google Page Rank.

Ayer me encontré con un excelente ejemplo para ilustrar un concepto muy interesante, tanto en el area “SEO-SEM” (asi como en otros campos relativos a herramientas de marketing)..de como la coherencia NO coherente, esta presente en este campo.

Estaba chequeando posiciones de este blog y de paso buscando SEOs para contratar (¡necesito ayuda para dar abasto con tanto trabajo!), y busqué “posicionamiento en buscadores” en Google.com.ar. Miré la barra de la derecha con resultados patrocinados y me encontré con el cuadro de arriba..

Entonces,Qué estas viendo de raro allí? Sí señor, el aviso de Facebook.
Fijate bien en el texto: “Reach the precise audience you want with relevant targeted ads”. Ahám,..relevant targeted ads…

A ver,hemos buscado “posicionamiento en buscadores“, que es un string en español, en google.com.ar, que es la versión argentina, y por lo tanto en español, del buscador.
Esta buena gente quiere venderme “avisos específicos y relevantes” para “una audiencia precisa”. Entonces, ¿por qué me ponen un aviso en inglés???
No deberian darse cuenta que, si busqué keywords en español en un buscador de habla hispana es 99% probable que quiera ver un aviso en español?

O sea, Caro internauta, estamos hablando del mismísimo Facebook, no de un principiante… ¿Cómo es posible que se les escapen semejantes errores?

Me pongo en la piel de un anunciante y pienso: “esta gente me quiere vender anuncios bien específicos que van a llegar exactamente a mi público objetivo… y sin embargo no saben hacerlo ni siquiera para ellos“. ¿Qué tipo de confianza me puede dar una empresa que predica con la incoherencia total en sus propios avisos?

Este tema de la coherencia da para muchísimo más. Y es parte de lo que englobo dentro del sentido común que deben tener todos los profesionales (o quienes aspiren a serlo) en este campo del marketing online, y en el marketing en general. Sin sentido común se cae en este tipo de incoherencias, que reflejan una falta de profesionalidad terrible de cara al cliente y nos hacen perder credibilidad.

Lo que más llama la atención, es que este tipo de errores los veo todos los días en empresas “monstruosas” del marketing online, como Facebook, Microsoft (por ejemplo con MySpace) y muchísimas otras.

Vale todo? es una estrategia de “guerrilla marketing”? sigue una coherencia, pero aplicada a SEO-SEM?…Dime Tu, Amigo..qué casos de incoherencia SEO-SEM has visto últimamente?..ce vediamo!!

I can’t believe what my see – MyClassroomBlog was real hit! No, not that much. But yes it is number 1 in google ranking just after a less than a day launch, rather just after a more than a day launch.

Of course I was skeptic about this but it is!

Okay…

I was just a bit high with this ranking. Please bear with me.

MyClassroomBlog is number 1 only when the parameter written is nick7575.wp.

But when somebody types in like “nick,” or “nickfernandez,” or “nick75,” or whatever it is that has no “WordPress” or even wp in it, the ranking is somewhere over the  rainbow.

OR when you guys type in like: “nick7575 classroom,” MyClassroomBlog is the number one hit in google ranking.

But you see, here it is.
