Finaly got my two pair of Outdoor Research PRO MOD gloves size small with goretex outer layer. Has just tested them now onces and will test them some more now. Very good timing now when the cold has finaly come.

A short review is coming later on when I have tested them in static and dynamic cold.

Just got my LBT-1562B sold so I figured I’d buy some things for some of the cash from that.

First up I bought the level 1 from ADS Gen III shirt and drawers. Now I have both level 1 and level 2 which is just perfect in cold conditions and I can drop all other no-name clothes!

Next up is the classic bivy bag from Tenniers Industries with Goretex layer which is perfect if no tent is available and it might get a bit rainy!

Next is a pair of Tennessee Apparel Corp ECWCS Goretex pants, also great when you’re on wet ops!

And last the Peckham POLARTEC beanie. Like I wrote a couple of posts back, I lost my previous hat so now I need a new so what is there to think about?

Son del estilo Bestard españolas. No puedo decir que mejores ni que peores pues en ambos casos se trata de botas de muy buena calidad y con unos acabados de excepción.

Ahora bien, os enseño… la mochila es la Glissade Classic de 70l. Y las botas las Alaska GTX.

Esto es para ir calentando motores para la escapada que queremos hacer ahora en Navidad a Bavaria… emocionante, ¿eh?

I went up to Berkeley on Sunday with Jabari to get some climbing on at Mortar Rock. ‘Cept for the fact that I didn’t climb because I ended up returning my La Sportiva’s for a bill. Yee.

The main reason we went up was because there was a gear testing demo called Tromp in Berkeley. Big names such as the North Face and Vasque were there to show off their Goretex shoes.

They had a little obstacle course complete with a creek, hills, water, and rocks. It was crazy to see how well Goretex actually works, as you could submerge your whole foot in water and still remain dry.

One of the best things about these events is the free swag. I got my hobo on alright. Free food, drank, and other little nifty gifties.

One month off. A whole month of non-yamyam action. That’s bad.

I give you, The TCX Airtech Goretex boot

So after a while of waiting and various calls to J&S, I got the TCX Airtech Gore Tex boots through in the mail. Upon initial inspection I noted to myself that these were nowhere near the effortless cool of my beloved Puma Desmo GTX.

The boot felt stiff in the hand and the rubber was really…rubbery. It reminded me of something that perhaps a fireman would wear, or  a fisherman… After a few moments of visual disappointment, I unzipped those suckers and stuck em on my feet, after all it’s more about what they feel like…right?

There's only so much rubber you can take...

After struggling to get the massive velcro patch off the boot, I slipped my foot in to a very vacant feeling interior. Vacant in the sense that the boot didn’t really fit my foot, it more hovered around it. There was a lot of space for my foot to move horizontally, waving a stick in a cave…what…oh. The boot also felt really hard, rigid and not very pleasant. Nevertheless, I soldiered on and zipped them up…oh dear.

Initial feeling was “oh, that’s not really good” as the interior fabric that’s fashioned around the lip of the boot scraped against my leg. I unzipped it again thinking I had messed it up but sure enough, at the top of the boot was a ragged edge that was rough to the touch. I am not enjoying this experience.

Walking back in forward in my kitchen I was completely turned off by what my feet were saying to me. Absolutely no movement in the shin area forcing an awkward cowboy stride and moon-landing plant of the feet, albiet with a “SLAP”.

As you can see, I took photos on my wet patio table. After doing this, I put them on in my kitchen and immediately my grip was lost, due to some moisture being left on the sole. This was not a good indication of the available grip for say, when you put your foot down at the lights when there just happens to be some diesel spilt on the wet road…

Bugs eye toe cap...mmmm. Not.

There is a natural “That’s enough” point in a products design. With the Puma Desmo it wasn’t ever crossed, I wanted more of it and would have lapped it up with a squint face.

With the TCX Airtech GTX, the point at which “that’s enough” was reached happened as soon as the box was opened and eyes were rested upon the  feast of rubber and mesh.

It may be slightly harsh to say it, but I will say it. On a web shop with the Airtech at a 45° angle and the right lighting this boot looks pretty good. In reality, this boot should never have left the design office. It’s an over stiff, non-user-friendly lump of hard rubber and mesh that makes you partially vomit in to your mouth, and then, after you have wiped the barf off the floor, you try the boots on and you suddenly have the urge to scoop your eyes out with a spoon, only after you have picked yourself up from slipping on the slightly damp floor.

A boo-boo if ever I saw one, and a real shame. I never wore these on the bike. I made the pose of being on my bike, using my kitchen bar-stool as a make shift peg and I immediately knew this was a no-go. And to top off all this lovin’, you then have that annoying rubbing on your leg from the really really reeheeheeeelly (too much Scrubs) bad craftsmanship and materials choice.

Bad one.

Sorry TCX, you’ve blown it.

Everyday I am outside walking or biking. Friday it rained. Monday it rained. It will rain today. It will rain Wednesday. Thursday we will be in the middle of a typhoon and it will rain a lot.

My jacket is Goretex. I also have Goretex pants. Hopefully they will keep me dry and warm during the rainstorms.

Yes, it’s been four weeks since the last Sunday Soundcheck. Perhaps you recall that we are on our third pass through the H column. It is the only column which has two different types of accent. The first changes the H sound to a B sound; the second, to a P sound.

My apologies as I get this back on track with the fourth character in the P column, pe, which is written in hiragana as ぺ and in katakana as ぺ. Can you tell the difference here? As I mentioned with he and be, these two characters are virtually identical in most fonts.

Pearukku (ペアルック) is taken from the English words ‘pair’ and ‘look’. A very descriptive term referring to two people dressing alike. My girlfriend described us that way when I dressed her up in a blue Columbia Goretex jacket and I wore my usual green tea colored Arcteryx Goretex. She also gave tabi socks to her friend’s boyfriend which match mine and referred to us with the same term. It is not just for couples apparently.

Perapera or peraperashaberu (ぺらぺらしゃべる) refers to someone speaking fluently. When I first arrived, people would generously lavish this term on me undeservedly; however, I’m finally at a point where a lot of conversations can quickly roll off the tongue without a lot of thought. Please don’t confuse this term with peropero or peroperonameru (ぺろぺろなめる) which is to lap at something, like a giant lollipop.

Hace mucho tiempo, verdaderamente, que no actualizaba nada debido a que no he parado. Y en contra de todo pronóstico ya he descargado, editado y subido las fotos, no todas evidentemente, de este verano. Recuerdo que me quedé en aquel día que pasamos en Aqualandia… y eso fue en junio…

En fin, después de eso vinieron más cosillas que os cuento… por ejemplo un par de barbacoas en casa de Juanfran y alguna que otra más en el local de los Scouts… se acercaba el verano y apetecía estar de pachangueo.

Celebramos el Fin de la Ronda Scout y ya empezamos a dejarnos caer por los chiringuitos de las playas y es cuando se respiraba fiesta por doquier, ya hacía calorcito y el cuerpo pedía playa…

Saqué mi coche del taller, que lo dejaron como nunca, nos fuímos despidiendo de las clases de salsa y celebramos a primeros de julio el cumpleaños de Sara en la playa de las Percheles…

Tuvo lugar el Campamento de verano, en Castellón, en un pueblecito cerca de Segorbe, Viver de las Aguas, estuve con María en el Puerto de Sagunto, el cumpleaños de mi madre, algunas visitas turísticas por Cartagena…

Y se acercaba entonces la fecha de la boda… fueron unos días animados… llegaban amigos y familiares de Alemania a diario. Ocuparon los Apartamentos Costamar casi al completo, parcelas y bungalows en el Camping Los Madriles, habitaciones en el Hotel La Azohía y varias casas particulares alquiladas por el pueblo, en Isla Plana. Quince días de trajines, preparativos por un lado y mucho ocio por otro. Hubo representaciones de teatro, noches tradicionales alemanas importadas a España, barbacoas en la playa, excursiones a Calblanque, al PR9 entre el Portús y el Campillo, partidillos de baloncesto en las canchas de Castillitos al atardecer, visitas a Cartagena, La Manga, Mazarrón, en fin…

Y cuando pasó la boda casi volvemos a la realidad de golpe aunque ha habido un par de intentos de evadirla… de primeras Juanfran y yo salimos un fin de semana haciendo el GR92 entre el Portús y la Azohía y pernoctando en Castillitos. Lo cierto es que cuando ves el atardecer o el amanecer te das cuenta de que merece la pena estar ahí. De eso hace apenas un par de semanas; desde entonces a parte de trabajar lo que he ido haciendo es ir preparando un poquito el Camino, comprando algunas cosillas y demás, que si todo va bien lo haré en cuanto me den las vacaciones, a primeros de octubre.

A Siete Aguas no pude ir porque ese día precisamente tuve que trabajar; me inscribí en la 25a Volta a Peu de Meliana que se celebra a primeros de octubre pero como estaré haciendo el Camino pues tampoco podré ir. Más adelante será, imagino.

Y bueno, así es más o menos como ha ido pasando el verano. Ya estoy de vuelta y con la intención de que no me vuelva a ocurrir esto… parecía que había abandonado el blog, que desastre… en fin. Supongo que ahora empezaremos a reencontrarnos muchos de nosotros. Espero que estéis bien y como decía, veros pronto. Un abrazo a todos.

Drug Dealer, Drug Dealer is a throwback to another era the wally era if you will, one that is fond to everyone here at HHTT (H2T2) and is often romanticized about when we  build.  We are all true 80’s babies who came of age in the late 80’s/early 90’s and we were all sponges keeping our mouths shut while our ears and eyes stayed wide open, taking it all in.  Av (Brother Menelik) was no exception, coming up in certain sections of Worcester this song was and still is his reality, bowdown to the Main South King, Brother Menelik.

DJ Flipcyide, you’re establishing yourself as a top mixtape DJ, how did you get started?

Thanks preciate that. It took mad long years of practice and experience of paying dues and putting in countless hours of mastering my craft of scratching and mixing on the turntables. What real DJ’s do!!! If you a real Hip Hop Mixtape DJ then you got to know how to scratch, mix, and master your joints other wise to me you aint no Hip Hop/Rap Mixtape DJ!!! I first started  with actual real mixtapes on cassettes back in the days when those were the first real mixtapes, and then to CD, and now to internet downloads.  I was able to establish myself by grinding countless hours on the net, streets, show, clubs, and by putting out mixtapes constantly. While everyone else was out partying, chasing skirts or worrying about other bullshit I was “Grinding Hard” day and night and makin my paper. I live for this so it comes easy to me.  

What type of hip hop did you listen to growing up? Tell us about your early influences!

My first rap tape my mom ever got me was a Yo MTV Raps tape. Had the Fat Boys, LL Cool J, Big Daddy Kane and Public Enemy on it and some other cats. That shit went real hard for a first tape for me but later also got into Gangstarr, EPMD, Mobb Deep, Eric B and Rakim, Ghetto Boys, Nasty Nas thats before he was Nas, N.W.A., Lin Que, and lots more cant think of right now. I liked anything that came out at that time that was hard from the East, West, or South but those were some of the main vinyl that I was spinning or bumping at that time. My early influences were definetly Dj Premier, Tony Touch and Dj Scratch from EPMD though sickest DJ’s back in the day and still killing it now!!!

Tell us about how you got involved with the Baymaac camp, and what projects are coming out in the future from that situation?

I got down with them from my dude Columbo Black. I recognized his talent cause in my honest opinion I felt like a lot of muthafuckaz was sleeping on him and that he was the hottest Emcee out of his whole crew. I started working with him and put out his first tape “Blood On My Blade Mixtape Hosted by Perfecto” and he put me on to Spider Loc, DJ Crash, and the rest of Baymaac. After that me and Spider Loc put in work togethor and did “Southwest Influence Mixtape Hosted by Spider Loc” after that Loc and Crash were feeling the tape and asked if I was interested in being a Baymaac/INDASTREETS DJ and the rest is still history in the making from there. My boy Columbo is doing his thang solo with Spider Loc from G-West and the rest of Baymaac fam but also represents for Flipcyide I.N.C. as well, which is my elite team of my artists consisting of: Columbo Black, Nukleus, B.I.G. Status and recently Jooce, nothing but pure raw talent. I am always putting Baymaac artists on any of my mixtapes but for this year and next will be dropping Columbo Black’s new mixtape “Comptons Greatest Wordsmith hosted by Spider Loc” and if me and Loc can get some time togethor again for another one then “Southwest Influence 2″.  

And the same with the Infamous South situation?

Infamous South is my fam on the reals!!! Those dudes are the truth!!! I gots to give it to my boy Crimeboss Luciano for putting a brotha on. We just started working togethor mixtape wise, but I have always had mad luv and respect for Infamous Mobb and Mobb Deep. So I asked them if I could be part of the fam/team and they all took me in and showed mad luv and respect and no doubt its given back in return. Infamous South consists of: Crimeboss Luciano, Plunder, Lotto, Shane Biggs,M.A.D.M.A.N. Aka: Rodney Sage, Bishop Brooks,Cash, Cashmere and myself. I hold it down for my dudez all day everyday no matter where I roll. Me and Crimeboss working on “Baking Soda and Gunpowder” right now, also got one in the works with Plunder and the whole Infamous South as well that I will be presenting and hosting coming soon. Bout to get the logo tatted on my left arm real soon just waiting on my personal tatt dude to handle that. IM3, INFAMOUS SOUTH…LOVE AND LOYALTY!!! 

I’ve heard you’ve just started G Unit South? Tell us more about that!

Yeah I linked up with J. Bettis at G-Unit Headquarters, and some other V.I.P’s over there and worked out a deal with them to start G-Unit South Promotions and be their DJ out in Texas and for the South. So all in all I feel I created G-Unit South along with the help from my dude J. Bettis.

G-Unit be appreciating all I do for them, Tony Yayo just dropped a video shout out for me that you can see on  youtube.com Doing mixtapes with Hot Rod, Mike Knox, and more in the works plus they keep me flooded with all the new hot music, CD’s, etc…so make sure you all check it out at thisis50.com and on my page everyday. Still running the real Hip Hop mixtape game in Texas. Still the Best Mixtape DJ in Texas. Still rolling with G-Unit, Infamous South, Flipcyide I.N.C. and the Addictz In The Lab!!! There aint nothing or nobody to stop me or get in my way. Like I said my grind stay heavy so muthafuckaz shouldnt be suprised with anything that I do or comes out of me.
