Maybe it’s the fact that they have both male and female vocals that can send shivers down your spine, or maybe it’s their catchy riffs, or maybe even their ability to not only produce beautiful indie/alternative music, but they can even produce delicious remixes. It was love at very first listen with The xx, and it seems like it may be the kind of love that lasts. Their whole album is awesome, and there is something seriously wrong with you if you don’t head to Le National this Thursday December 3rd, to catch not only The xx, but Friendly Fires as well for Nylon’s Winter Tour. Friendly Fires are in fact headlining, buuut, I’ll be purchasing my ticket thanks to The xx.

A mulher é um talento revelado pelo programa Britain´s Got Talent (o equivalente ao que o SBT chama de Qual é o seu talento?). A expressão dos jurados… Olha, vale a pena ver a apresentação da escocesa, retirada, por obra divina, da área rural do Reino Unido.

Before you listen to this song, you have to have already realised the cheesey’ness’ that you are about to encounter. For predictability, it’s up there with the Jonas Brother and the like. But the difference is that it’s actually supposed to be like that.
If you haven’t heard of ChartJackers, then I’ll give you a little run down. In short, four popular figures from the British YouTube community decided to get the whole internet, community to come together and record a song that will hopefully get somewhere in the British top 40, hence the name: ChartJackers. All the money raised from the project would then in turn go towards the Children In Need charity and a good deed would be good. And the way that they’ve done it is actually very clever.

To understand the amount of people that this has actually involved, you only have to look at the music video (which I will post a link to). They were also followed by the Switch section of the BBC and a documentary has been broadcast every week for the past few weeks.
The song is a cheesy pop rock ‘anthem’ which could easily fit into any modern Disney film. But for lyrics, a melody and chord pattern suggested by random people of the internet, it’s not actually too bad. In places it’s got nice harmonies, a cheery Jack Johnson sort of melody and even a few ‘rock’ guitar licks. Put it this way: metal fans will hate it.

But it’s more about the money being raised over anything. So buy it, even if you won’t listen to it. That’s pretty much what I’ve decided to. But I am now £0.79 a better man than you. That doesn’t make sense.

So yeah it’s been a while since I’ve posted something up, but I don’t think anyone noticed…but whatever, So yeah I’ve finally chosen what College I want to go to……and that’s Ilford County High School…It’s a really posh Grammar school, which expects the best from all its students, which basically means, they expect me to get all A’s in my AS Levels….no pressure…..xD. So yeah, for my AS Levels I’m taking Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Maths Mechanics and Critical Thinking…..yeah it’s a lot….and it’s a lot of hard work…. oh and erm I’m going to keep my promise and tell you what my GCSE grades were…. trust me….they weren’t that good…..

Just a quick update on chartjackers – the song is finally on itunes and is available to buy! At the moment the song is only available in the UK but they are working on it so it can be available worldwide. Since I’m writing about it I might aswell post the video:

It’s everything that isnt in an everyday song which I find great. It’s cheesy, but in my opinion thats what I think makes the song really fun and something you would want to dance to or muck about with your friends. Feel good factor to the max

Por cuestiones/motivos ya del todos conocidos, decidí no ir con la familia al shopping weekend que armaron para este finde.

Así  que después de mucho batallar, me tuve que aventar y hacer la versión mexicana de “e-commerce” (leasé buscar en internet lo que quiero en tiendas como: walmart, target y demás, imprimir las páginas y darle indicaciones a mi señora madre), y terminé con una pequeña lista de  15 articulos por comprar por aquellos lares.

As usual, era de esperar que de dicha lista no encontraran todos los ítems ya que por lo general algunos se encuentran agotados, otras veces no está el modelo exacto que pedí y warala. Pero bueh, a final de cuentas mis estimaciones resultaron demasiado optimistas, ya que de todo lo que pedí solo me trajeron: unos zapatos de vestir y Rockband: The Beatles.

Y  bueno aunque con este último, debería ser motivo suficiente de jubilo, festejo, alboroto y demás, no lo fué del todo, ya que como siempre, aquí es donde va ese PERO. Sí, me trajeron Rockband: The Beatles, pero con el pequeñísimo inconveniente de que me lo trajeron sin los instrumentos.

Quest’ultimo in sè non ha alcun significato, viene semplicemente utilizzato perchè suona bene all’orecchio.  Ad es. “have you Sarah’s book” ha meno ‘musicalità’ di “have you got Sarah’s book”. It is pleasant to the ear (come dicono loro).
Tra l’altro tutte e 3 le forme sono perfettamente utilizzate in U.K.; in effetti quella prettamente americana e slang è “do you got” che qui non si usa quasi mai.

A few days back now, we here at Grime Garms done an article about the release of the official ‘I Got Soul’ t-shirts to go alongside the release the track to raise money for the charity War Child. Tinchy Stryder and N-Dubz also featured on the track. But this isn’t about the whole of N-Dubz, just one third of the group members, Fazer being the chosen third this time.

First up of the two, we have Tinchy’s white on white SITH t-shirt. Tinchy once said that he’s made more money off his clothing range, than he ever has in music. I’m not sure if this is still true with the amount of success he’s had with recent singles, and the release of his album, Catch 22. Recently, Tinchy has been spotted in various colour ways of his SITH designs. Some being different coloured/designed fonts, others actually being brand new designs themselves. This time though, it’s a white on white version of the now imfamous top that Stryder has been spotted in. We’re not quite sure if Tinchy will ever release this top, but for me, it’s a bit too plain.

Next, we have the New Era ‘Nice Lolly Tee’ in white that Fazer of N-Dubz wore that day. New Era moved into the apparel side of clothing not too long ago, and it’s paying off. Some of the clothing on offer is quite nice, like this top here, but others, I don’t think are so. This top that Fazer is wearing comes in the basic colours of black or white. The top print being based on an ice-lolly look. More than likely, the Fab bar it looks like. With the hundreds and thousands at the top of the New Era logo. It looks like it should have been in the Spring/Summer range rather than Autumn/Winter I think. If you’re interested in the top though, click the New Era link to get taken directly to the shirt.

I’m pretty sure I’ve talked before about the satisfaction you get from a good remix. There’s a certain feeling of I’ve just heard something already amazing be transformed into more than that. This is one of those songs. Deciding to use very little of the Florence version of this song, The XX have completely reworked this into something that is definitely distinctive to them. Their beautiful and soft voices are somehow dominant over Florence’s loud and somewhat wailing vocals.
But it just amazes me that even when the XX are given a limit on their creativity (and by this I mean that they are limited so that they have to use a little bit of the original song, hence the ‘remix’), they still manage to create something completely original. And I mean that sincerely. I believe that this song could easily fit alongside every other massive tune on their album and not look at all insignificant. Amazing remix by an amazing band.
