Jag spelade ett par ackord för den gamle idag. Coolt men jag tror han hade svårt att hänga med i svänget. Ni vet jag har inte så mycket val utan lyssnar en hel del på hans musik. Den är okay även om det inte är det första man ser i musikens värld. Det är UNKLE, Burial, Gotan Project, Soulsaver, Free the funk och massa annat. Jag somnar schysst till det.

Har varit en egendomlig dag men jag diggade den. Hela familjen stack iväg tidigt imorse för jag skulle få en spruta mot giraff eller var det ekorr-sjukan. Det är kul att vara på BVC där är det alltid massa kids i min egen ålder och vi kollar in varandra och lär oss av varandra. Sprutan gjorde lite ont men jag hade inte tid med den smärtan eftersom jag misstänkte att det fanns en himla massa kul att göra utanför spruttantens dörr.

Lekte ett tag. Rutschkanan är störtskön. Hittade ett slags hus på en vägg där det gick att öppna och stänga massa luckor och i luckorna fanns grejer som rörde på sig om jag rörde vid dem. Sen slog vi följe med två andra föräldrar och promenerade ner till Tanto och jag blev sur. Mest för att jag var trött och inte ville somna i vagnen. När pappa efter ett tag gav upp sina försök och lät mig vara i Manducan så kunde jag sluta min blå ögon. Störtskönt.

Kände mig lite underlig på eftermiddagen och fick ingen harmoni i sovandet. Nåja när ni läser det här så sover jag gott. På fredag är planen BAD!!!!

As I prepare to DJ the opening of LA Blush Boutique’s second location next week, I began thinking about how essential song selection is for different types of events. With a Blush’tini in hand and an appetite for the trendiest new & affordable clothes, customers definitely do not want to feel as though they are shopping in an ordinary store – especially at a store’s launch party. Here’s where I come in. First thing I consider when putting together my playlist is Who are these people?  and How do I want to make them feel? Secondly, I do not want to force them out of the store with very loud hardcore electro beats, because honestly – this isn’t a club (even though MY ideal store would have house music playing 24/7).

With that said, I want to create a classy experience for these shoppers. One that will excite them, stimulate their senses, and maybe even put a little swing in their step (or maybe that will be from the Blush’tinis?). Today’s song selection will include some of the artists and my favorite songs I will be incorporating into my playlist at the November 18th Launch Party of Blush Boutique in Calabasas.

Parov Stelar

Selon wiki : « Il a commencé a travailler sous le nom de “Plasma” ou sous son vrai nom pour le label Bushido Rec. C’est en 2000 qu’il prend le nom de Parov Stelar et créé le label “Etage Noir Recording”, label auquel il est toujours à la tête aujourd’hui. En live, il se fait accompagner de quatre musiciens, le “Parov Stelar Band”, et est lui même un DJ accompli.

Définitivement un excellent DJ aux sons plus allemand (Européen) qu’américain.

Quantic

Selon Wiki : Quantic est un pseudo de l’artiste Will Holland :«Quantic est le nom de scène utilisé par Will Holland, DJ, musicien et producteur de musique anglais vivant et travaillant en Colombie. Son style musical est un mélange de sonorité latines légèrement modernisées et couplées à de l’électronique. Will Holland joue sur la plupart des instruments entendus dans ses productions : guitare, basse, contrebasse, piano, claviers, sax, ainsi que tout type de percussions.»

Les mélodies sont très bien construites et le rythme est plus inspiré du hip-hop que de l’électro house.

Morcheeba

Selon Wiki : «Morcheeba est un groupe de musique britannique issu de Douvres mélangeant down tempo, trip hop, rythm and blues et pop. Il est formé des frères Paul Godfrey (DJ) et Ross Godfrey (guitare et clavier) ainsi que de la chanteuse Skye Edwards.» Le dernier album, Dive Deep est excellent, mais un peu relax à certains moments. Les titres à avoir sont  Enjoy de Ride et Run Honey Run. Le rythme vous prend tout de suite.

Supreme Being of Leisure

Selon Wiki : «Les Supreme Beings of Leisure, groupe d’un nouveau genre, associent programmation intelligente et grouve séducteurs et des parties vocales uniques communiquant un sentiment de nostalgie et de désillusion.»

Très bon CD, l’ensemble est bien fait et pas trop agressif ou électro, je le fais souvent jouer au resto et on trouve souvent un morceau dans les compilations que je fais.

Musique standard LOUNGE/JAZZ :

Gotan Project

Selon musique.ados.fr : «Le pari musical était au départ plutôt risqué : mélanger les sons techno aux musiques latines, au tango (gotan en verlan). A l’arrivée, c’est un pari plus que réussi : Gotan Project est devenu un incontournable des platines. Mais la reconnaissance dépasse les clubs, et la musique de Gotan Project s’écoute aussi bien dans une ambiance lounge que devant sa fenêtre, les yeux dans ses pensées et les images qui y défilent.»

Je ne crois pas mettre ça sur un dancefloor, mais bon, c’est bien dit et la musique est bonne, mais trop entendue quant à moi.

St-Germain

Selon Wiki : «L’univers musical de St Germain navigue entre Acid jazz, nujazz et deep housee. Il sort son premier album intitulé Boulevard en 1995  (élu meilleur album de l’année 1995 par la presse anglaise), suivi en 1999 par From Detroi To St-Germain tous deux sous le label F Communication. Il rejoint ensuite le célèbre label de jazz Blue Note Records pour lequel il réalise l’album Touriste en 2001.»

Touriste est bien fait, Ludovic Navarre (aka st-Germain) est très bon, mais on a vraiment trop entendue.

Zero 7

Selon wiki : «Zero 7 est un groupe britanique de musique électronique orienté down tempo, formé de deux Londonien : Henry Binns et Sam Herbaker: Zero 7 est également très repris à la télévision et au cinéma ainsi que sur des compilation lounge telles que Chillout Project par le DJ philippin Anton Ramos ou les compilations de l’Hôtel Costes.»

Relax et parfait pour une ambiance qui incite la conversation

Musique RAP/JAZZ/LOUNGE :

Wax Tailor Selon Wiki : «Jean-Christophe Le Saoût est un auteur,compositeur, producteur et manager français de musique connu sous le nom de Wax Tailor. Il sort son premier album Tales Of The Forgotten Melodies en mars 2005 après 2 EP dont le genre mélange le trip hop, le hip hop ou bien encore le down tempo, ses principales influences musicales. Son second album Hope & Sorrow sort en 2007 puis son troisième In the Mood for life en 2009.»

Excellent et très bien travaillé. Mon album préféré : Tales Of The Forgotten Melodies

US3

Selon Wiki : «Us3 est un groupe de jazz-rap britanique fondé à Londres en 1991. Leur musique est élaborée à partir de samples des classiques du label Blue Note. L’album Hand On The Torch, à mi-chemin entre jazz et hip-hop, sort en 1993.»

US3 sont les puristes du jazz-rap, c’est probablement les fondateurs du lounge trip hop d’aujourd’hui (on pense à quelques morceaux des Beastie Boys aussi).

RJD2 Selon Wiki : «RJD2, de son nom Ramble John Krohn, est un musicien hip-hop et producteur né à Eugène en Oregon le 27 mai 1996. Il fait partie du label Definitive Jux et a produit des chansons pour de nombreux artistes. Il fait partie du groupe Soul Position avec le rappeur Blueprint. Dead Ringer. Cet album le propulse dans une catégorie d’artistes parmi lesquels on peut compter DJ Shadow ou Prefuse 73. Plusieurs titres de Dead Ringer seront utilisés à la télévision, et dans des spots publicitaires.»

Un son un peu plus hip-hop que les autres, mais excellent

The Fort Knox Five

C’est un groupe de musique et une maison de production. Il font du très bon travail et les autres groupes du label sont fidèles au style; un style allumé, clair, funk au son hip hop.

Selon Wiki : «Fort Knox Five is aEshington D.C.-based recording artist consisting of Steve Raskin, Jon Horvath, Rob Myers, and Sid Barcelona. They have released their music on their own independent label The Fort Knox Recording. Their music style mixes elements of funk, Reggea, hiphop and Electronica.»

Está rolando um eventinho tango x eletrônico no CCBB de São Paulo. De 22 de setembro a 13 de outubro. Ou seja, já aconteceram dois. Infelizmente não consegui ir a nenhum, e acabo de descobrir que não vou poder ir nos outros também. Já que todos os ingressos para todos os dias e todos horários foram devidamente vendidos. E que a última chance é uma lista de espera que abre 1hora antes das apresentações. o-0  Alguém…?

Também, o ingresso para ver o show dessa galera em uma casa de shows grande fica em torno de 120 dinheiros, enquanto no CCBB a inteira é apenas 6.

Mas tudo bem… essa onda já ta rolando há um tempo e daqui a pouco passam por aqui de novo o Gotan, O Bajofondo….é só esperar.

Anyone who listens to KCRW in La Ciudad de Los Angeles has probably crossed paths with the Gotan Project (yes, this article is about Bajofondo so yes, we are starting with Gotan). Their music has been enthusiastically pimped by Tom Schnabel, Nic Harcourt, Jason Bentley and most likely has earned endorsements from the rest of the musical intelligentsia in the cutthroat high stakes bludgeon-wielding world that is Los Angeles public radio. Gotan Project is a dapper group of Porteños and Parisiens with beautifully tailored suits and extravagant audiovisual pageantry who introduced many in el Sur de California to the monstrous potential that live tango music has to offer – especially when fused the with the deft skills of turntable maestros and multilingual emcees. But what may have gotten overlooked with Gotan’s critical acclaim is that they are merely the tip of the tango renaissance iceberg.

Walk through San Telmo on any given Sunday and you’ll see that there is an abundancia of talented argentine musicians in their 20’s and 30’s exploring, perfecting, and redefining the once anachronistic tango (as well as klezmer…I know, weird…yet undeniably awesome) and giving renewed relevance to a Southern Cone musical tradition that had laid dormant for decades. This counter-intuitive rebellion to embrace the past and integrate it with the present has spawned a school of pure genius that includes Gotan Project, Otros Aires, Tanghetto… and Bajofondo. While any of the above could keep a warehouse filled with several thousand sweating dancers at capacity until daybreak (o aquí en Los Angeles hasta 1:30 a.m. cuando se suena la última llamada), pragmatic logistics keep most of this talent from getting any farther north than Uruguay or Sao Paulo.

Thankfully the argentino who forms the nucleus of Bajofondo is a resident of Los Angeles and has been able to gather his colleagues on several occasions to perform in LA as part of a global tour to demonstrate that the New Tango does indeed go far beyond Gotan Project. And if Gotan’s sartorial splendor was perfect for a Sunday evening at the Hollywood Bowl – which it was in 2006 when they played a brilliant set with Jose Gonzales – then nothing could have suited Bajofondo more than the gritty pre-Columbian surreality of the Mayan Theater en el centro de Los Angeles. See, no one in Bajofondo is what EPR would call “cool” in the Gotan sense of the word. None of them look like they ever have or ever would spend money on a three piece seersucker suit much less Italian silk ties and matching fedoras. That is a collective suavité  that Gotan has cultivated to euro-style perfection. Bajofondo is a collective defined less by “cool” and more by “music dork chic”. But with the hallmark irreverence that will continue to get music dorks laid for generations to come, the members of Bajofondo just…how shall we say? …they just don’t give a fuck. The tall and gawky Javier Casalla is a classically trained violinist but he doesn’t hesitate to swing his bow violently at the crowd, taunting the LA arbiters of style to get off their ass and dance. The ignorant – EPR included – probably never imagined that an accordion player (not even the hombres  from Nortec Collective or Kinky) could really look all that radical on stage…but when Martín Ferrés stretches the bandoneón over his head in a tango crucifixion, it’s difficult to deny…the guy is a fucking rock star! (Do pardon the F-bombs. We’re working towards making this a family-friendly abahaka…but we’re not quite there yet.)

Then you have to factor in the guitarist: a 57-year-old middle aged rocker bouncing around the stage like a chubby 3rd grader hopped up on pop tarts. What? …why is that guy even out there? Unless you did your research, you’d never know that “that guy” – Gustavo Santaolalla – is a Rock en Español pioneer, a producer for Maldita Vecindad, Julieta Venegas, Molotov, Juanes, Café Tacuba…has written, arranged or produced most the soundtracks for Alejandro González Iñárritu’s films…oh yeah… and he also has two Academy Awards for penning the scores to Brokeback Mountain and Babel. Dude is kindof a big deal. But you don’t really need to know this…because the more you listen, the more Bajofondo speaks for itself. The music is beautiful and emotional, just the way tango should be…but then veejay Veronica Loza begins to accelerate the multimedia streaming across the walls…Luciano Supervielle and Juan Campodónico start to blend in the turntables… the beats get louder…and faster… and steadily the energy of the entire room starts to inch higher and higher until… BOOM! – everyone on stage is going apeshit jumping up and down in unison… and you look around and realize that YOU are jumping up and down… and everyone  on the dance floor is jumping up and down! At this point, tango has almost evaporated in favor of the euro/techno dance clubs of Buenos Aires and Punta del Este. Because that’s what this is – a perfect confluence of past and present from el mundo rioplatense. The musicians on stage were trained in the classical tradition but they grew up in the poonchie-poonchie all night dance factories that spawned euro sweat-holes like Pacha and Big One. Of course it doesn’t hurt that in an (un)intentional homage to the Happy Mondays, Bajofondo has one spastic dude on stage whose ONLY apparent job is to run around and dance and fire up the crowd.  He even got the Event Staff security gorillas to let 30 or 40 people up on stage to party with the band during the final encore. The crowd was hugging the band… the band was hugging the crowd… the Event Staff in their yellow windbreakers were hugging each other… and you could trace all of this straight back to Santaolalla. Gustavo may be 20 years senior to the next oldest member of Bajofondo, but he is clearly a man of warmth and passion and sincerity and he projects an undeniable positive energy that both his younger colleagues and the crowd feast upon until, fully sated, everyone decompresses in one big happy sweaty hugfest.  And throughout the show there really is a sense of being fortunate – you feel lucky to have been a part of the show because you know that it was something different…a new direction…something special …and that it might not happen again. After all, this is a collective that stretches from Argentina to Uruguay to Los Angeles… so who knows when they’ll reunite.  Entonces, muchísimas gracias Bajofondo y hasta la próxima… ¡espero!

Il nome, “Demoliendo tangos“, è provocatorio perché dichiara l’intento dell’omonimo gruppo argentino di dimostrare come il tango di ieri e di oggi si possa rileggere in modo nuovo. «Abbiamo voluto ricostruire il nuovo tango a partire dalle macerie del vecchio.- dichiara infatti il pianista Federico Mizrahi, leader del gruppo- Il tango è sempre stato in evoluzione, nel bene e nel male, e Astor Piazzola è stato il primo demolitore aprendo la strada a tutti gli altri. Noi siamo partiti dal suo Tango Nuevo per imboccare un’altra strada con una musica con molta melodia e contrappunto classicheggiante.» Il progetto è partito giusto dieci anni fa  a Parigi, dove il quarantacinquenne compositore, arrangiatore e pianista argentino si divertì a manipolare, rimodellandoli, i tanghi di altri, componendone di propri . Il tutto condito dall’humor istrionico dell’attore e bandoneonista Luis Longhi e completato dall’apporto di un violinista ed un violoncellista. «Cercavamo di sdrammatizzare il tango facendogli perdere la patina di falsa sofferenza che lo accompagna, perché non si soffre mai col tango. Ne è uscita fuori una musica che ha una certa presa sui giovani .» Su giovani e meno giovani fa ancora più presa il gruppo dei “Gotan Project” nei quali ha a lungo militato il bandoneonista Facundo Torres che lo scorso il 19 settembre ha accompagnato Mizrahi in un concerto organizzato dall’associazione “ArteTango” presso il salone del CCS Cogne di Aosta.

«”Gotan Project”- ha spiegato Facundo- è un’esperienza molto interessante, la sua musica molto popolare non serve alla causa del Tango tradizionale, ma fa sì che la gente scopra la parola tango finendo per andare ad ascoltare anche quello vero. Il bandoneon è la vera voce di Buenos Aires, uno strumento molto espressivo che la gente ha finito per identificare col tango anche se nelle prime formazioni  non c’era.»  Nella seconda parte la serata aostana si è trasformata in una milonga con il pubblico a ballare celebri tanghi, milonghe e vals riletti dal duo. Ma la musica dei “Demoliendo Tangos” è ballabile? «Si può ballare ma anche solo ascoltare.- ha concluso Mizrahi- In Europa la balla “todo el mundo”, in Argentina no.  Anche se c’è una famosa maestra di ballo, Graciela Gonzalez, che insegna tango usando la nostra musica perchè dice che si può ballare perfettamente. Credo che più che dalla musica tutto dipenda dalla testa del ballerino. Claro?»

Okay so those crazy Brazilians BONDE DO ROLÊ are back…kinda. They’re still making an album with their buddies, including DJ Chernobyl, Diplo, Boys Noize, and Switch. But they had time to kick out a pretty samba-sounding track, which is such a Beastie Boys-style move, but sounds a little like Architecture In Helsinki or something, quite amusingly. I put a little something extra too, as I remembered loving the Gotan Project original, and Bonde do Rolê’s buddy Edu K mashing it like potatoes a while back:

In keeping up with current events, the headlines today have been looking bleak. After reading the fifth news story of the morning involving doom and destruction, I decided it was time for more positive reading material.  To help in spurring your motivation for travel, especially when the past few days in the news have been slightly gloomy, I’ve put together a couple playlist suggestions I have found on travel blogs and sites to get a double dose of inspirational material. After all, every trip needs a soundtrack.

• Intelligent Travel’s website perked my curiosity with two videos.  The first group was the Parisian trio, Gotan Project, and their music, a meshing of electronica meets tango was enough to make me lose five minutes of work time daydreaming about Argentina.

• The second song sent me on a high-speed train through Eastern Europe, my senses overloaded  with imagined lights, sounds and smells of streets filled with energy and little bit of grime. The Shukar Collective is group from Romania.

• National Geographic’s site also features a page with music from around the world. They even have a song of the day and a free download available. If you are as easily amused as I am, this is a wonderful highlight to the afternoon. They also have a list of genres of music, from Aboriginal Traditional to Zydeco; sample some great beats I bet you don’t hear on your favorite FM station.

Gotan Project propone con su música una mezcla entre el tango tradicional argentino y ritmos electrónicos que le otorgan cierto aire de modernidad, todo ello, por supuesto, en la medida correcta, sin convertirlo en un atentado al buen gusto, como otros tantos tristes ejemplos que se escuchan actualmente.

Alors que l’on aime ou que l’on n’aime pas musicalement, il faut regarder le clip Santa Maria de Gotan Project pour la performance visuelle. Avec cette mauvaise habitude du numérique et de sa perfection souvent chiante, en regardant ce clip on pourrait croire que tout les effets sont fait en post production mais en fait pas du tout. J’en parle tout le temps mais la société d’appareils photo Lomography a accepté le challenge de faire une vidéo animée à partir de photos fixes. Les effets de carrés sont des planches contacts ou les points repères pour monter ce petit chef d’œuvre, et là d’accord c’est de la post prod mais de la post prod à partir de quelque chose de réel et pas uniquement du virtuel assisté par ordinateur. C’est l’équipe de Lomography UK qui est venu à Paris faire les shoot avec différents appareils pour faire filmer ce couple dansant le tango majestueusement. Une sorte de clip en effet flip book avec un montage simple mais efficace.  Une vidéo vraiment impressionnante.

Dintre cele mai celebre trupe ale genului pot sa amintesc Gotan Project, care acum sunt destul de faimosi, Bajofondo ( al caror concert tocmai l-am ratat), Tanghetto, si Otros Aires (very charming name).

Atunci cand persoanele care nu au nicio legatura cu this lovely dance isi dau cu parerea, tind sa se refere la noi ‘tangueros’ ca fiind demodati. Evident, ascultam si mult tango traditional, dar in general tinerii tind sa asculte electrotango, sau neotango. Asta pentru ca iti da posibilitatea sa fi la fel de senzual, dar putin mai creativ.

Czy Gotan Project trzeba komuś przedstawiać? Philippe Cohen Solal, Christophe H. Mueller i Eduardo Makaroff pokazali nam tradycyjną argentyńską muzykę, tango, w zupełnie innym wymiarze. Elektronicznym, tanecznym, może bardziej przystępnym? Dość, że debiutancki album wyniósł ich na szczyty popularności. A właśnie nagrali następcę “La Revancha Del Tango”.

Wywiad zaczął się dość nietypowo, bo zamiast zadać pytanie… sama je usłyszałam. Po krótkiej wymianie zdań na temat miejsca pobytu, poczułam, że rozmowa będzie wyjątkowo przyjemna. Gotan Project nie mają w sobie nic z quasi-gwiazdorstwa – a mogliby mieć. Jak wyniknie później z wywiadu – nie czują się ponadprzeciętnymi artystami czy kamieniami milowymi w świecie sztuki – a powinni się tak czuć. Widać po prostu, że robią to, co lubią. I chcą to robić jak najlepiej. Odpowiada Philippe.

Kaśka Paluch: Pierwsze moje pytanie odnosi się do Waszego debiutu, albumu „La Revancha del Tango”. Jest tam utwór „Chunga’s Revenge”, w którego tekście pojawiają się nazwiska i pseudonimy różnych wykonawców – jak Kruder & Dorfmeister czy Thievery Corporation. Podobnie jak spora część słuchaczy, nie znam francuskiego i nie rozumiem reszty tekstu. O co więc właściwie chodzi?

Gotan Project: W tym utworze jest mowa o ludziach, który zainspirowali Gotan Project, muzykach naszego zespołu, rodzinie i przyjaciołach. Na przykład w pierwszej części mówimy o wszystkich artystach, którzy wzięli udział w nagraniu, w drugiej partii składamy uznanie dla osób, które miały na nas wpływ – jak Piazolla, który tworzył w latach czterdziestych, jak Frank Zappa – bo jesteśmy wielkimi fanami jego muzyki. A później mowa jest o ludziach ze świata muzyki elektronicznej jak właśnie Kruder & Dorfmeister czy Thievery Corporation, którzy są naszymi przyjaciółmi i jednocześnie inspiracją dla Gotan Project. Ostatnia część utworu opowiada o naszych rodzinach. To coś w rodzaju hołdu dla tych ludzi.

A myśleliście kiedyś o stworzeniu czegoś wspólnie z Thievery Corporation czy Kruderem i Dorfmeisterem właśnie?

Hmm… nie wiem. Jesteśmy bardzo dobrymi znajomymi, więc może jednego dnia zrobimy coś razem, może coś innego, nowego. Myślę, że Thievery Corporation mają swoje własne brzmienie, a my – swoje. Więc może pewnego dnia rzeczywiście coś takiego powstanie, czas pokaże. Kruder & Dorfmeister także są naszymi przyjaciółmi, w końcu Peter Kruder zrobił remix dla Gotan Project, a my zremiksowaliśmy jego. Być może jednego dnia zamiast remiksów zrobimy coś zupełnie nowego – na przykład na następny album.

Teraz chciałam spytać o samych Argentyńczyków. Pracujecie z wieloma argentyńskimi muzykami, czy możesz opowiedzieć coś o tym jak ci ludzie czują i co myślą na temat swojej rdzennej muzyki, jaką jest tango? I czy jest ona wciąż żywa w argentyńskich miastach?

Tak, tango jest bardzo żywe w Argentynie. Mógłbym powiedzieć, że podobnie jak na całym świecie, ale oczywiście Argentyna jest mekką tango. Wszyscy muzycy, którzy wzięli udział w naszych nagraniach są z tą muzyką bardzo związani – żyją nią, wychowali się w tej tradycji. Dla nich ta współpraca była wnoszeniem czegoś nowego w muzykę tango.

Wiesz, niektórym może wydawać się, że w Argentynie tango tańczy się na ulicach i przed sklepami (śmiech)

To nie do końca prawda, jest oczywiście sporo osób, które tańczą tango na ulicach, głownie dla turystów. Ale na przykład prawdą jest, że w Buenos Aires, ludzie tańczą na milongach. Milonga to coś w rodzaju „nocy tango”. Kiedy przyjedziesz na przykład na festiwal tango w Buenos Aires, zobaczysz na głównej ulicy miasta tysiące tańczących ten taniec ludzi! Oczywiście w Argentynie chyba każdy tańczy tango – zwłaszcza młodzi ludzie. Coraz więcej z nich skupia się na tańcu.

Kiedy gracie koncerty, na scenie prawie zawsze pojawiają się tancerze tango. Uważasz, że to niezbędny element do zrozumienia Waszej muzyki?

Nie na wszystkich, ale na większości naszych koncertów mamy tancerzy. Ale to bardziej zaproszenie do prawdziwego tango. Myślę, że nie wszyscy ludzie dokładnie wiedzą czym jest prawdziwe argentyńskie tango, więc to ważne dla nas, by je zaprezentować. To część show. Ale na innych nie ma już tancerzy, jest za to sporo wizualizacji, muzyków. Teraz ludzie wiedzą na temat tego tańca więcej.

No właśnie – swego czasu mój profesor w szkole muzycznej stwierdził, że dziś, tak naprawdę tylko Gotan Project może pokazać rzeczywiste, prawdziwe tango, na skalę światową, że na waszych koncertach występują tancerze, którzy naprawdę umieją to tańczyć… to podobno nieczęste zjawisko. Przynajmniej wcześniej.

Trochę w tym może prawdy. Tak jest chyba ze wszystkim – granie brazylijskiej muzyki sprzyja zaprezentowaniu jej samej i brazylijskiego tańca, tak samo z Argentyną. Mamy to szczęście mieszkać w Paryżu, gdzie jest naprawdę wielu znakomitych muzyków z całego świata. To bardzo temu sprzyja.

Myślisz, że łączenie muzyki folkowej – bo tango taką w Argentynie przecież jest – z muzyką elektroniczną, to jakiś specyficzny sposób na utrzymanie tej pierwszej ciągle żywą, funkcjonującą na świecie?

Niedokładnie. Oczywiście łączenie jej z czymś nowym – jak instrumenty elektroniczne – potrafi tchnąć w nią życie, jakąś świeżość. To w ogóle interesujące – wkładać nowe brzmienia w tradycyjną muzykę. Ale nie myślę, żeby to było jedynym sposobem, dla utrzymania jej w świadomości ludzi. Gotan Project to raczej sposób na wniesienie czegoś nowoczesnego, współczesnego do tango – zwykle akustycznego – przez dodanie naszych nowych instrumentów.

Jednak musisz przyznać, że dla wielu ludzi dopiero Wasza płyta stała się okazją do poznania tango i do zainteresowania się tą muzyką bardziej.

To fakt. Jesteśmy bardzo szczęśliwi i dumni z tego, że ten nowy ruch – to elektroniczne tango – sprawiło, że teraz więcej ludzi interesuje się tańcem, na całym świecie. Podobnie jak z tego, że teraz na tym największym festiwalu tango, o którym wspominałem wcześniej, organizuje się jedną specyficzną noc poświęconą właśnie elektronicznemu tango, bo Argentyńczycy są równie zadowoleni z tego „odrodzenia” muzyki tango na świecie. Widzą wielu młodych ludzi chcących uczyć się tańca i samej gry muzyki tango, dla nich to świeże powietrze w kulturze.

Kiedy nagrywacie muzykę, wszystko jest pod Waszą kontrolą, czy zostawiacie trochę miejsca dla improwizacji, wolnej muzyki?

Myślę, że to jest raczej coś w rodzaju kontrolowanej improwizacji. Przykładowo, kiedy jesteśmy w studio, komponujemy i piszemy muzykę, a później kiedy muzycy przychodzą by zagrać to, co napisaliśmy prosimy ich o nagranie dokładnie tego, co jest w nutach. Po takim nagraniu prosimy ich o zagranie jeszcze raz, w swoim stylu, z pewną improwizacją. A później to wszystko edytujemy, składamy na nowo, wiesz, przypomina to trochę gotowanie (śmiech). Więc najpierw wszystko jest pod kontrolą, później bez niej, a później znowu wszystko wraca pod kontrolę (śmiech).

Przeczytałam, że każdy utwór na „Lunatica” posiada swoją własną historię. Która jest Twoją ulubioną i dlaczego?

O… (śmiech, chwila zastanowienia) to bardzo trudny wybór, żeby wskazać jednen… ale wybiorę „Diferente”, ponieważ – po pierwsze – linia basu, która rozpoczyna utwór przyszła jakby ze snu. Kiedy spałem, śniłem o tworzeniu muzyki i po przebudzeniu ten bas cały czas miałem w głowie, więc nagrałem go szybko w domu, a później już zrobiliśmy z tego utwór. Dlatego właśnie lubię ten utwór, bo pochodzi ze snu. A po drugie „Diferente” mówi o innym świecie, alternatywnym, gdzie bylibyśmy bardziej szczęśliwi… taka utopia. To taka opowieść o marzeniu o lepszym świecie.

Na koniec spytam o polską muzykę. Lubisz ją, znasz dobrze?

Cenię to, co robi Zbigniew Preisner, ponieważ współpracowałem z nim w przeszłości. Stworzyliśmy soundtracki do trzech filmów Kieślowskiego. To fantastyczny kompozytor, mam do niego sporo szacunku i jego bardzo czułej muzyki. Poza nim… niestety, jestem troszkę ignorantem w tej kwestii… nie znam muzyki polskiej zbyt dobrze…

Folkowej też nie? (śmiech)

Trochę słyszałem! I bardzo polubiłem – szczególnie to, że jest ona fuzją wielu inspiracji, na przykład z węgierskiej muzyki. Myślę, że jak następnym razem będę w Polsce będę chciał dowiedzieć się na temat polskiej muzyki więcej.
