Why, yes, I have had a preview read, and yes, it rocks in that unsettling McDermott mode that recently snared an Australian Shadows and an Aurealis Award for best horror novel. The collection is a sharp, four-story title in the ongoing, and quite stunning, Twelfth Planet Press Twelve Planets series.

Also at the launch, we’ll be lifting a belated glass to Kirstyn’s award-winning Perfections and my award-not-wining Blood and Dust, both of which came out very late last year.

Caution: Contains Small Parts launch: Sunday, 9 June, at 6pm, as part of Continuum 9 @ Ether, lower level, 285 Little Bourke Street, Melbourne.

The collection is available for pre-order, or you can get a Twelve Planets subscription deal. The book will be on sale at the launch, naturally, where the author will happily sign copies.

This picture shows A.J. Lee in an “Eternally Yours” T-shirt worn on the January 21st edition of WWE Monday Night RAW on the USA Network. Since her allegiance with Dolph Ziggler and Big E Langston, A.J. has begun to wear random shirts with hearts, broken hearts, skulls, bones, and gothic themes. A.J. Lee has become a badass Diva, similar to Lita’s style since she came to WWE

Whether you’re a project manager or just a member of a project team, you can’t avoid all

Whether you’re a project manager or just a member of a project team, you can’t avoid all the project management lingo flying around in offices around the world today. The problem is many of these expressions can’t even be found in the dictionary. Just rely on our project management guide to learn today’s office talk for tomorrow’s projects!

Define the scope One of the first steps in project management is to determine the impact and the boundaries of a project, in other words creating the project scope. The scope should provide a description of the end products expected to be produced by the project.

Establish a timeline Next you should decide the time frame that specifies when each step of the project should be completed. By creating a timeline you will be able to know if you are on schedule throughout the life of the project.

Specify target outcomes How do you gauge the success of your project? It’s important to specify target outcomes, or desired results that have measurable benefits, to use in determining your success

Determine necessary outputs Take time to think about the products, services, and business or management practices, otherwise known as outputs, that you will need in place in order to achieve yourtarget outcomes.

Put a project team together People are the key to the success of your project. Select capable employees to take part in the project team - the team of people working together to accomplish the project – assigning appropriate roles to each.

Record milestones When members of the project team complete a scheduled key activity or task, make sure it is recorded. Milestones are either completed or not completed, and they can serve as a progress marker for the project.

Create baseline metrics Progress and performance should be evaluated using baseline metrics, which are a set of indicators that performance should be measured against.

Set a budget cost Determine how much you anticipate the project will cost, and set a budget cost at the start of the project. Later, you can refine your budget and make it more detailed.

Produce deliverables In order to ensure satisfaction of contractual requirements, you’ll need to produce deliverables, such as reports or products that must be completed and delivered. Make sure they are produced on time!

Execute risk management In every project, there will always be risks, or threats that may hinder the successful completion of the project. A good project manager will execute risk management processes by identifying, analyzing, evaluating and treating potential risks.

Hello my darlings,

Above is a (very poor quality) picture of the bookthongs I have been making to give out in promotion of “Baron of Blood”. The bookthongs are creme ribbon with two small pearl-like beads and a bronze colored bead on one end, and then two copper colored beads on the other. I’ve sewn at least ten in one afternoon (there was a significant chunk of time here I had to set it down, not to mention how long it took me to figure out the most effect method of attachment). I am going to put them together in some packages alongside an excerpt booklet plus a coupon code (for 10% or 15% off – not sure how much yet) that can be applied to the paperback edition of Baron of Blood. Some other goodies might be thrown in there, but we will see what happens! Interested in receiving one in the mail? Shoot me an email!

Sorry for the short update, but it’s late and my mind is running all over the place.

Your most adored,

The joy of a vampire story is, the reader knows all the rules already. So here’s a bit of something for Angela Goff’s #VisDare, and this one leaves you to do most of the work yourself.

It had been a month. They had taken away the horses, and their harness with them. Around the hollow, autumn had taken hold, but the leaves that swirled around the clearing never settled on the hearse, and, despite everything, the lamps still burned.

On that night there was a nondescript moon, neither full nor new nor perfectly gibbous, a moon that cast no omens and gave no excuses, and at last the village men made their way to the place, to do what they had always known must be done.

The coffin rested drunkenly just as it had fallen, and the jug made one more circuit of the group before anyone would approach it. Coffin? Crate . . . rough planking, crude corners, and below it, a trickle of soil.

They threw it open, and stared, aghast. Only soil. He had eluded them again.

Here is a piece I have written that originally made sense but I still wasn’t satisfied. I wanted to really explore the Gothic and confusing emotions of my character. To do this, I decided to replace all the concrete nouns with abstract ones. I didn’t simply swap them for anything though, it took me time to choose the noun that fitted with my idea of the character. The result is this. It’s mystifying, disorientated and disconcerting and it achieves what I desired from the writing.

Into the adventure I flee, like a curiosity gliding silently and stealthily forwards. The freedom is still and empty; all the chattering, colourful enthusiasm at loss by the need. The calm and creativity around me now is varying tones of black, white and grey with glimmering speculation of honesty above my submission. The memory, clear and cold and crisp awakens my loyalty while sending a justice down my peace. Hurried on by hope and an impression of knowledge, I press on through the elegant reality towards my destination. The trusting romance chimes twelve times, resonating in my strength, merging with my own internal symphony.

There is a fear sheltered by optimism. The excitement is red, orange and brown. One by one they have detached themselves from the sharp confusion of the desire leaving harsh, bare lust. Now, under pride’s idea, they appear as silver strength scattering my memory. The contentment is still and silent and peaceful. At the end of the emotion-lined apprehension is an anxiety. The sounds of sympathy drift from the closed happiness and invades my perseverance. The infatuation bathes the hopelessness touching everything from the golden joy to the steepest pain.

The time is here, I know this and I can cherish it. Nearer and nearer. This sadness, it pierces my frailty and my adoration.

From between the gothic power I emerge, the vast victory looming before me against courage’s deceit. My tolerance rushes out in uncertainty as the cold leaves my speculation. The pain is spent upon a worry in front of the comfort watching the colours in the stained talent glow as the warmth appears and the thrill wakes.

The awe belief stirs around me and then, atop the envy patience I see the loyalty. Tall and shadowed and mysterious like my darkest love, yet deepest disturbance and most horrific opinion in one. It is the compassion, the clarity that I am here for now. I call to it and yearn for this.

Quick as defeat dark slithers down the wisdom and envelopes me within the peculiarity of heavy and comforting ability. I am fascinated and my artistry of the fear is forgotten.

Each and every opportunity I return to this memory, hoping it will return, hoping it will love me. Hoping, just hoping that it will take me with it beneath the evil in this darkened intelligence of movement and mystery. Once more we glide, upon that life; the lust swirling in flourishes about us. I feel the sensitivity beat next to mine and grip the thought tightly. Should it leave me, should it let me go, I am lost. It cannot go. My dark yet loving beauty.

Significado

O simple past é usado quando nos referimos a eventos que ocorreram em um tempo detrminado no passado.

Sendo assim, podemos concluir que o Simple Past é usado:

- Para ações que se completaram no passado em tempo definido estabelecido na frase.
Ex: He died in 1908. (Ele morreu em 1908).

- Em contextos que nos reportem ao passado, mesmo desprovido de indicação temporal.
Ex: I’m sorry about last night. The train was 10 minutes late. (Desculpe-me sobre a noite passada. O trem estava 10 minutos atrasado).
