Our Senate and Representatives are completely out of order, the government is truly broken. In a time of pressing economic chaos. The financial system of our country in turmoil. The urgency to stimulate the economy financially, seems to have ended up just another way for our senate and representatives to only think only of themselves.

They seem to have an overwhelming desire to spend more money than is actually needed. Holding on to stubborn opinions, creating even more chaos. The two parties showing resentment towards each other.

The stimulus package was suppose to create jobs, instantly solve the crashing financial crisis. Be the answer to this ungodly troubles we are in. This was not to be a budget bill. This is an emergency. spending for the good of the country. For the world.

As the whole world’s economy is tumbling into a state of depression. Our stock market spiraling into devastating downward lows. Our officials are fulfilling their own wants.

Could this be the ‘change’ Obama will deliver.
Exposing our government officials as the greedy, self pleasing people that they are. Powered hungry to be in control and rule.
So much that they would risk our country’s security for control.

When this stimulus package comes to his desk to be passed. It will sure be interesting in the direction he goes. Will he make an executive decision, and expose our officials publicly. Humiliating and Shaming them to leave politics, or change into a new direction. Be the guardians of our constitution as they are suppose to be.

Or will he just blantly go about aggressively playing the Chicago style partisan power play. Some call this gangster style, socialist, facist or Imperialism.

Days like these, well it makes me glad I have the freedom to change that channel. Everyone has the right to their own opinion. and the channel changer.

Could you imagine if all you could watch is one station? Chose by the government. Or the only thing that was on and it goes against your nature. Like me being a Christian, having satanic crap on all the time. Or an atheist having to listen to one of my holy roller preachers! I really am glad for the freedom to chose my own news sources.

It was not always that way though, our country took over 40 years to figure out that to many rules and regulations, were not affective.
Choice should be in the hands of the people.
Back in 1940, congress passed the fairness doctrine.

The Fairness doctrine was created by the FCC. The Congress created the FCC to mandate laws over the air waves.
The FCC was to regulate the content and converage on controversial issues, making the media show contrasting viewpoints. Keeping these controversial issues at a minimum, politics mainly. Making stations provide (hire) equal time for the left and the right. Not different stations, different times.
Wonder how they figured out who got prime time?

Guess what, it took the FCC 40 years to figure out people like the freedom to choose what and when and even how they receive their information. The fairness doctrine, Took your choice out. It was encroaching on our civil liberties. The 1st Amendment.

Totally unconstitutional as it was and even with the reporters, journalists and all the media with strenuous actions, pleading with the courts that It was unconstitutional. It still passed as unviable in eyes of the supreme court.

In the 1985 Congress made the FCC do a study, to see how forcing the media to report in this manner, would affect the public. The FCC handed in its “fairness report“. The results were astonishing!

The people spoke, they love their freedom of choice! It matters not if you’re a democrat or republican. The importance of you having your choice to your media. Media has the right to report news, politics in there own view, be it democrat or republican. You have the right to shut it off if you disagree. High ratings come from consumer choice.

It’s the right to make a choice, it’s the right to a free market. Technology being so vast. So many choices to get your media from. Restrictions from the government would only move our country into socialist or facist. Thanks for keeping our country, a capitalist country.

The fairness doctrine was voted unanimously to be repealed. In fairness to the repeal, Congress passed the Fairness in Broadcasting Act of 1987.

The United States economy and the Poor handling of finances are the reasons for the drop. In the Sock Market today. Apparently contradictory the economic conditions in the United States are affecting the world economy on a daily basis. News outlets are already reporting a new economic stimulus package, designed in part to try to prevent this recession.

This isn’t the first recession news, as you recall, Back On Nov. 26, 2001, the news media announced the United States was officially in a recession and had been since March of that year. To most Americans, this wasn’t all that surprising.

Rising unemployment and a weak stock market has been in the news for months now. Didn’t seem to stop all the spending The country is in the middle of the worst economic downturn. Between the rich donors and the governmentfrom spending $170 million, or more, on the inauguration of Barak Obama. Who were the those Rich Donors? Thats right. It was those Bailed out Wall Street Executives.

Looking at Obama’s choice for Treasury Secretary of the United States, Timothy Geithner. It looks very Grim for our future economic times. President Obama Positioning Timothy Geithner, who made “careless mistakes” on his own taxes. Stated in his own words.

“The state of the economy calls for action, bold and swift, and we will act—not only to create new jobs, but to lay a new foundation for growth.”

Timothy Geithner, currently the president of the Federal ReserveBank of New York, positioned to overlook the IRS? I feel this was a real bad choice on President Obama’s side. A man who is a part of the cause of this world economic recession. To be in charge of the finances. This makes no sense.

That tarp fund, $700 billion dollars that was suppose to go to the banks. The first ½ of that, was placed in the hands of the banks. With no strings, No tracking, No reporting. No monitoring. We were Lied to buy the dept of the Treasury. Lied to by Obama.

This 2^nd half of the 700 billion dollrs, about to be handed out. Will there be an accountability, on this $350 billion. Stolen was 700 million dollars for tarp! And with thought Madoff was crook. Our own government

I haven’t updated this blog lately, and I apologize, at least to all the poor souls out there who like to read my disconnected thoughts.
Covestor opening up to the world and a friend’s blog kept me busy.

I’m here now and ready to entertain you with some more random rumblings.

Last week’s Economist had a piece about the perilous situation of energy and electricity companies in Spain.

If you’re looking for a dog to short, this is definitely it.

Electricity prices in Spain have been reasonably low and their growth has been somehow independent from inflation. The reason behind this odd behaviour is that the tariffs private company can impose are regulated by the government.

Spain has often come under attack by the European Commission for its policies and this issue has almost always been central in all debates.

This is all fine and dandy so long as production costs and inflation remain within forecasted patterns. Nowadays with petrol prices rocketing ever upwards and the Euro area economy moving forward – or rather backwards – this is not proving to be efficient.

The difference between what costs energy companies to produce the electricity Spaniards use and what they can charge for it has now ballooned to a whopping €14 billion ($22 billion), according to the Spanish National Energy Commission (CNE).

The Economist was kind enough to do the math for us:

Just to stop the deficit from getting bigger would mean raising prices by 20%, according to Unesa, the Spanish power-industry association. To repay it will mean increasing prices still further. Paying it back over the next 15 years would require price rises of nearly 35%.

Unless the government moves to deregulate this industry quickly they’ll find themselves with a ticking bomb in their hands. Considering the usual slowness of bureaucrats I’d say this is definitely something worth exploiting.

We can spot a definite pattern on these two charts I nicked from Yahoo! finance UK. Iberdrola and Endesa are Spain biggest energy companies (that I know of) and they have been going steadily down as oil prices took off.

Update: Since this post was published Endesa has gone own almost 2€!
