Adventskalendern hänger framme i mitt rum, miniatyrgranen (adventsgranen, det är tradition) är klädd med glitter, röda äpplen, hjärtan på tråd och rosa julgranskulor. Tre hyllplan har klätts med blommigt hyllpapper, katterna myser inne i badrummet och apelsiner med nejlikor har fixats. I fönstret står ett gäng flugsvampar. Imorgon är det första advent och jag funderar på att slå in den första julklappen.

The trendy streets of Vancouver’s Yaletown aren’t exactly unknown to the brightest of Hollywood’s stars, but even the usually unflappable Hamilton Street hipsters would have done a double take seeing the stars of Twilight sneaking a quick cigarette outside the Blue Water Cafe Friday night.

Celebrating the impending end of the New Moon shoot, Pattinson and Stewart chatted up a storm with co-stars Dakota Fanning, Taylor Lautner, Rachelle Lefevre and series scribe Stephanie Meyer.

The Blue Water Cafe + Raw Bar has been Yaletown institution for years with its wooden interiors and expansive patio, and just about every film crew worth its salt has ended up there at some point in the production.

The Twilight kids reportedly didn’t make an all-nighter of it, despite Pattinson’s birthday being just five days way, with most enjoying a few quick bevvies before hitting the limos and scorching out of Dodge.

Meanwhile, Pattinson’s latest film, Little Ashes, in which he plays Salvador Dali, is being panned by most critics.

In Edward’s absence, Bella got emotionally imbalanced and psychologically disturbed, hearing what she called as ‘velvety,
beautiful voice’ in her head. She could not believe that he had decided to leave, compelling Bella to be oblivious about him ‘as if he did not exist’, thinking that was the best to get her off perils. Edward wouldn’t give in to her request of being changed into a vampire to keep them eternally inseparable. It shook Bella off her normal senses, getting cold without conscious effort at fortifying blocks of truth to a conclusion that he didn’t like her after all.
The moment that Victoria was hunting Bella to avenge her mate’s (James) demise down Forks and La Push raised some levels of hysteria though which was rather less significant to lifelessness at Edward’s while of inexistence. So came Jacob Black’s rescue with Sam Uley to lead the pack, of werewolves, slaying Laurent and keeping an eye and ready claw on the rest of his coven for Bella’s safety, sealed in away even from the slightest threat. Jacob underwent intense struggle on the process of revealing his true identity before which, he and Bella had some nice things to share like the motorcycle adventure, where Jacob truly came in handy on her secret deprivation. Upon discovering that he was a werewolf and it was his pack that saved her life from Laurent’s assault, Bella did not have second thoughts of wholeheartedly accepting him, as a friend worth of lifetime trust.
This, however, was not sufficient to release her from delusions of Edward talking to her mind whenever she got near danger. Bella often revisited the forest that once sheltered the Cullens and decided to jump off the cliff one time to dare sorts of hell close by, believing strongly that, that was the only way to keep hearing Edward’s warning voice. Even as she drowned in the black currents, her feelings were safe from anxiety as if every fear were instantly washed off upon such vivacious hints that clamored ‘Edward did exist’. Up to that point, she was spared.
It went too abrupt that Edward didn’t take note of those details carefully, with a sweeping assumption that Bella committed suicide yet missing the puzzle piece that Charlie meant to be gone for Harry Clearwater’s funeral, one very unexpected phone call. Hurriedly so, Edward consulted the ‘Volturi’ with the solid intention of ceasing to live without her. But the Volturi wanted to keep him (for his special talents) and would not grant his death wish, so he opted to just expose himself under broad daylight to burn away. When Bella learned about it through Alice, she didn’t waste a second and flew off, at all cost. She stood by Edward at the nick of time, dragging him away from the sun’s wide view until the next thing they realized was dealing with the inviolable Aro (of the Volturi) whose mad curiosity about Edward’s unique decision as a vampire stared red at Bella with cunning inquisition on which his cohorts kept attentive watch. At the slip of fortune, he was mad convinced by what Alice had forethought to be Bella’s later conversion on account immortality. Soon, they three were escorted out of the Volturi’s chambers and gathered with the rest of the Cullens.
In their privacy, Bella and Edward paid each other debts of explanation they’d grown thirsty of when the spatial difference was at the remotest it could get, breaking to the faintest of touch.
Back to Bella’s place where the infuriated Charlie, having had enough, had lain on a serious anticipation, Bella and Edward came across Jacob midway down the nearby forest, stopping at a distance assuredly buffered from his zone. The men’s calculating, concentrated gazes didn’t flicker as they shifted colors and brief utterances held the air stung with a founding edge of future crises between what used to be ‘legends’. Bella understood that she was the major subject of it all when Jacob implied it at reminding Edward that when a vampire bites a human in the land they were bound to protect, the truce would be over. At this, he nodded to settle so that they could leave before tendencies blurted out of control.
Bella was mad at the same time filled with compassion to the point of regret for Jacob, having chosen Edward to be with. She had promised to get back to him one day with remarks in the hope of patching up their friendship which he would have thought betrayed.
Bella brought the Cullens to vote over her transformation. On the contrary, Edward wanted to keep her soul intact and not abolish her rights of humanity. Where this opposition led was what the third sequel (Eclipse) was looking forward to answer.

The Twilight Saga: New Moon, like last year’s Twilight, is critic-proof. We film critics don’t get it, this film isn’t for us, and the fans will love it. However, none of that means New Moon isn’t worthy of humorous derision or concerned analysis of the disturbing subtext. New Moon is a bad movie which fails on nearly every level, but that doesn’t mean it’s not fascinating. The series is one of the most popular young adult stories of the last decade yet the movie, which wouldn’t dare make radical changes to the book, lacks so much: a strong female protagonist, subtlety, joy, a positive message to young women, and above all, shirts. The men of New Moon need shirts.

The film opens with the 18th birthday of Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart), one of the most vapid and irritating protagonists in recent memory. While most teenagers would be happy to be hitting their 18th (guns and voting!), Bella can do nothing but sulk and quiver in the presence of her dreamy, pale-skinned, cold vampire love-muffin, Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson). In a vain attempt to make Bella smile for at least a second, her best friend Jacob (Taylor Lautner) gives her a dream catcher and must explain to her what it does because the film considers her that freaking stupid, although she certainly is. Bella and Edward whisper to each other during class and he tells her how he wish he knew how to kill himself. Happy Birthday.

The Twilight Saga New Moon movie image Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson 1.jpgLater that night, rather than spend any time celebrating with her father or her human friends, Bella enjoys (which means she sulks a little less) the company of the Cullen family, all vampires and not blood related other than they all live together and suck animal blood to survive. Unfortunately, Bella becomes the first person in human history to get a paper cut from unwrapping a present and one of the Cullens goes nuts and tries to attack her, Edward protects her by accidentally throwing her into furniture thus giving her an even worse injury. Dr. Cullen, the family’s patriarch, patches her up and Bella mentions that they wouldn’t have to worry about this if Edward changed her into a vampire. Dr. Cullen remarks that he and his family are damned and that changing her would make her soulless. Remember kids: when Bella says she wants Edward to “change her” it is a metaphor for an 18 year old girl wanting her boyfriend to take her virginity. Edward, who looks like he’s either going to or coming from a GQ photo shoot, protests. In fact, the following day Edward (after breaking into her room while she’s not at home), says he’s leaving in order to protect her and that he never wants to see her again.

Bella then shuts down completely and her break-up causes her to become catatonic interspersed with night terrors. This is odd because not only do teenage break-ups rarely cause such extreme reactions (at least in healthy, well-adjusted teenagers), neither Twilight nor in this movie do we see what Bella is missing. What makes Edward special other than his looks and brooding demeanor? There’s nothing substantial to miss and what Twilight and New Moon fail to do is convince us that infatuation is love. But infatuation isn’t love; it’s a negative manifestation of a fantasy. I understand the teenage love thing when your emotions are so strong that you feel like there’s nothing more important in the entire world. But New Moon keeps mistaking that for true love and that Edward and Bella are a modern-day Romeo and Juliet. I know this because at the beginning of the film, Bella’s reading Romeo & Juliet and she’s supposed to write a paper on Romeo & Juliet and Edward’s birthday-downer-suicide monologue is during a class where the teacher is showing a movie adaptation of Romeo & Juliet. Subtlety, thy name is anything other than New Moon.

Director Chris Weitz brings three skills to New Moon that Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke sorely lacked: the ability to shoot a movie without a blue filter, well-shot action scenes, and convincing special effects as far as the animals are concerned. But Weitz makes Hardwicke look like Bergman when it comes to subtlety. There are moments in New Moon where I laughed out loud because I thought I was supposed to. I thought Weitz was mocking this overwrought teenage love story by using the cheesiest and clichéd images imaginable like running through fields and laying in a meadow. But he’s playing it completely straight and while Twilight fans are eating it up, the rest of us are trying to balance slack-jawed amazement with hysterical laughter. Those moments are at least a reprieve from the Bella’s unrelenting misery.

The Twilight Saga New Moon movie image Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner (1).jpgAfter five months of dealing with a break-up that should’ve caused hospitalization, Bella finally drags herself out of the house only to discover that the only way she can see Edward is if she behaves recklessly, because before Edward left he told her not to be reckless. But when she does behave recklessly, Edward tells her that she promised him she wouldn’t and she stops because Bella Swan can’t think for herself or do anything which does not relate to a dominant man. Also, when she sees Edward, he appears as a cheesy ghost effect which, again, I could not believe they were using. I understand that they need a way to keep Pattinson around despite his character’s absence for the majority of the film, but reappearing as ghost mist? Did Weitz think his audience was so dense that they would think a non-misty Edward would actually be there? And this audience has read the book so they already know he’s not really there!

Thankfully, Bella discovers that she can cling to the other hot man in her life, Jacob. The beginning of their relationship is one of the few bright spots in New Moon as the two flirt, joke around, and have personalities. Furthermore, Lautner has charm and charisma which is more than I can say for Pattinson whose performance consists of pensively looking at the ground, sadly looking down at the ground, and bashfully looking down at the ground.

But soon the film realizes the horrible abomination of having a likable character and soon Jacob joins up with the bad boys who don’t wear shirts. It turns out Jacob and the shirtless bad boys are werewolves. The shirtless wolf pack is the film’s best unintentional running gag. No matter the weather, location, or situation, these men will not wear shirts. I know these guys want to show off their pecks and washboard abs, but you don’t have to show them off all the time. There’s a scene that takes place in a torrential downpour where Bella is pleading with a shirtless Lautner to stay with her and not go off with the bad boys. It’s really quite an amazing scene as you can actually see Lautner developing pneumonia.

The Twilight Saga New Moon movie image Kristen Stewart (4).jpgBella’s absolutely dependence on men is where I leave the silliness of New Moon behind and begin to actively loathe the property and what it stands for. This past summer, I dropped my unnecessary hatred toward Twilight fans because their infatuation with cute guys is harmless and nothing new to contemporary American culture. I accepted the following of older fans because I assumed they recognized the series as harmless fantasy and nothing more. But I didn’t lose my hatred of the books and the message they give to young women and New Moon pushed me to start questioning what was appealing about this fantasy.

Bella is a reactive character and her every action is based on what either Edward or Jacob does. She behaves recklessly, not as a way to escape from her pain, but so she can keep seeing ghost-Edward. Later, she tries to kill herself and then cover it up with the excuse she was cliff-diving. But even that isn’t as disturbing as when Jacob confesses to Bella that now because he’s a werewolf, just a split second of anger could cause him to lose control and seriously hurt her. Her response: “That will never happen because I will always tell you how special you are.” This is a girl who will never argue or even question a man she loves because otherwise he may lose control and beat her to within an inch of her life. It won’t be his fault; he just has a monster inside him he can’t control. And why does Edward leave? Because he’s afraid his presence will hurt Bella. Of course, his big realization is that by leaving Bella, he put her in more harm.

Here are six words you will never hear Bella Swan say: “I can take care of myself.” This is the protagonist of one of the best-selling books today. I know author Stephanie Meyer is a Mormon and I find her belief system provides a sickening subtext to her work. While Mormonism isn’t the only religion to promoted abstinence, I find it an absurd and counter-productive response to burgeoning sexuality. It’s blatant religious patrimony to tell young women that all sex before marriage is wrong, even if she wants to, is over 18, and her boyfriend isn’t pressuring her. If a couple wants to wait until marriage to have sex, I have no problem with that. I have a problem with painting an ideal man as an asexual protector who treats his girlfriend like a child and that if they have sex before they get married, “changing” her will make her lose her soul.

I am appalled that there’s not even a hint of a moment where Bella has an interest of her own other than whether or not a man can protect her and what she can do to serve him. I find it offensive that Bella is so selfish that she doesn’t care if she hurts her kind and devoted father or pulls away from people who were supposedly her friends. Parents, is this really the kind of role model you want for your child? And women who see this as fantasy, is this really what you find exhilarating? I understand attraction to hot guys but plenty of other movies and stories offer that without the repulsive moral values.

There are moments I don’t hate New Moon. I like the action scenes, the cinematography, the werewolf CGI, Taylor Lautner (when he’s not brooding), and that they made up an action movie called “Face Punch”, which I would totally see based on the title alone. But two questions about the movie remain at the forefront of my mind: how troubling it is that this movie will most likely gross over $200 million while having such repulsive messages; and why won’t someone give these hot Native Americans some shirts?

2012 es una de las muchas peliculas que trata sobre el mitico fin del mundo de una forma convincente y realista con escenas de exelente calidad y muy buena historia nos representa el fin del mundo, aca el trailer….

Realmente creo que si pueda suceder algo pero no tan debastador como para matar al 90% de la poblacion ademas hay muchas teorias y si son creibles pero como un cometa que aparentemente no existe pasara muy cerca del planeta y lograra cambiar debastadoramente nuestro clima…. ¡es eso posible¡.

Det er mye fin julepynt rundt om kring. Og jeg har også sett flere eksempler på alternativ til gran – brukt som juletre. Her er noen godsaker

Entre sus virtudes destaca su grandísima rapidez, su buen movimiento de balón, su colocación y su regate.

Aunque esta temporada solo ha jugado dos partidos ya que lleva mes y medio lesionado tras un partido contra el Birmingham, seguro que cuando se recupere el Arsenal podrá aguantar el ritmo del Chelsea en la batalla por el campeonato.

Como una de las mejores pruebas de su gran calidad es el video, aquí dejo este donde coopera para que Adebayor empate en un partido contra el Liverpool… Walcott hace una de las jugadas más bonitas que haya visto.

Å vissa morgnar är bättre än andra, de är i alla fall mer energifyllda och kärleksfulla. Jag känner hur jag nu sakta fyller mig med livs och skaparkraft. Efter motiga tre kvartal fyllda med upp-poppande monster som jag stirrat i ögonen känner jag nu att livet är som det ska, HÄR och NU.

I morse gick jag till min förskola, månen var så vacker där den låg på himlavalvet. Som en smal smal nagelbit på den ljusblåa morgonhimlen. Där solen var på väg att stiga upp var det vackra gyllene moln, smala och krusiga som tre långa änglavingar. Ur min strupe kom en sång, en sång till gudinnan.

En underbar kraftsång som fyllde mig helt, jag sjöng högt där jag gick på gångvägen. Jag kände mig lycklig och tillfreds. Så gick jag förbi en stor och gammal granhäck som jag både cyklat och gått förbi förut. Men idag så såg jag den för första gången. Jag tittade på de svängda grenarna, det växte lava på dem och de svajade svagt i vinden. De svajade mot mig och plötsligt hörde jag granarna tala till mig.

“Hej Eva, här är vi, lika glada som du är, lika tillfreds med att vara HÄR och NU”. Åh, jag har inte hört en gran tala på flera år. Jag blev så genomlycklig och en varm känsla for genom min kropp för att landa stillsamt i min själ. Mitt inre ljus blev än något starkare. Alla tecken har nu börjat peka åt ett håll och detta var ännu en bekräftelse på att det går åt det hållet. Det enda rätta hållet! Ingenting är säkrare än det.

Algún sabio alguna vez dijo: “Dios los hace, y ellos se juntan”… y esto no pudo ser más cierto el pasado 6 y 7 de Noviembre en el Palacio de los Deportes, donde cuales zombies sedientos de sesos, se juntaban más de 15,000 personas a festejar el primer evento oficial de Sony Playstation en México, conocido simplemente como “Conexión Playstation” y que para colmo de saturaciones, fue totalmente gratuito.

Durante años ha existido una “mas-o-menos-industria-conciente” del videojuego en México, para fortuna de todos los que gustamos de este caro pero divertido hobby, en los últimos años ha comenzado a tomar la seriedad que merece y hasta pareciera que en algunos momentos, somos tomados casi tan en serio como nuestros vecinos del norte o del lejano oriente.

El escenario donde los pesos pesados de Playstation estuvieron presentes...

Este fin de semana me quedo claro que al menos, el intento se está haciendo y vaya que fue un EXCELENTE intento que fue mucho más allá de intento y se consolidó como uno de los mejores, si no es que el mejor evento relacionado con videojuegos en el año!

Al ser un evento gratuito, la capacidad máxima del Pabellón Este del Palacio de los Deportes fue alcanzada en un parpadear y curiosamente, siempre se podía jugar algo sin esperar más de 5 minutos. Tal vez tenía que ver con las más de 200 pantallas y consolas que abarcaban todo el pabellón!

El lugar se llenó... rápido

Después de tomar un cargado café, decidimos poner las manos a la obra y empezar lo inevitable: jugar juegos… y vaya que había opciones de donde elegir!

No conformes con invadir el lugar con una interesante variedad de juegos ya lanzados y por ser lanzados el resto del año, cada juego tenía su zona temática y un ejército de edecánes animando a todos los presentes a jugar… algo completamente innecesario, pero bien recibido… digo, no todos los días te pide una chica guapa que tomes un Playstation para jugar.

Algunos de los juegos que se podían encontrar a lo largo de la expo eran: inFamous, Uncharted 2, Killzone 2, Little Big Planet, Ratchet and Clank, Pro Evolution Soccer 2010, Sing Star Latino y otros como FIFA 2010 y WWE SmackDown vs RAW 2010.

Una de las cosas más interesantes, fue ver el animo de los que asistieron al evento, que sin pensarlo dos veces, tomaban el primer control a la vista y se disponian a jugar, ya fuera en las pantallas verticales, asi como en las que estaban al nivel del suelo, donde comodamente se podía jugar sentado en una tabla sostenida por 2 tabiques.

Tras haber probado la mayoría de los juegos de la zona principal, nos dispusimos lo imposible. Ir a la zona de DEMOS. Cabe destacar que la cola para entrar a esta zona daba la vuelta completa al pabellón y el tiempo de espera podía variar entre 2 y 3 horas para jugar unos 5 minutos.

Y aunque la cola era comparable a cualquier juego de Six Flags, la meta valia la pena, ya que adelantados por meses, se podían jugar los demos de varios juegos exclusivos de PS3 como lo era el esperadísimo Heavy Rain, donde muy al estilo de la película “Seven”, podrás jugar la historia de 4 personajes que se ven envueltos en la búsqueda del “Asesino Origami” y donde cada decisión puede cambiar el juego completamente, teniendo como resultado una gran cantidad de posibilidades para desarrollar el juego cada vez que lo experimentes.

Y aunque muchos juegos prometen ese tipo de “diferentes caminos” mientras jugábamos en la zona de demos, nos percatamos de lo cierto que es esto, ya que aunque en 3 pantallas diferentes jugábamos todos el mismo demo, todos avanzabamos de forma distinta y la historia se desarrollaba de acuerdo a lo que cada uno iba haciendo en cada consola. Si eres fan del cine, este juego es EL juego!

Una vez que Fernando trabo el demo, nos dimos a la tarea de experimentar con algo demasiado bizarro para ser cierto, pero demasiado cierto para terminar de ser bizarro…  me refiero a Eye Pet, el Tamagotchi del 2010. Y aunque lo podría explicar de varias maneras, creo que lo mejor es que ustedes lo vean por si mismos:

Una vez saciados de que Fernando dibujara un intento raro del batimóvil y yo controlara inútilmente su invento, decidimos intentar con coches de “verdad”, Gran Turismo nos ayudó a lograr esto.

Aunque est demo de Gran Turismo 5 aún era previo a la versión final que podremos gozar el próximo año. Aunque Fernando diga que Need For Speed está mejor por ahora, su cara no lo dejó mentir. Seguramente será de los primeros en tener este simulador automovilístico.

Antes de ser corridos para dar chance a otros de probar estos demos, pudimos darle una probadita al demo de God of War III, que sin lugar a dudas, es uno de los juegos más esperados del próximo año. Otros de los juegos que estaban disponibles eran MAG, White Knight Cronicles y Jak and Daxter.

Habiendo salido de la zona de demos, nos dispusimos a comer algo, pero como suele suceder, en el camino nos topamos con un repertorio de personajes que no podíamos dejar pasar. Ni modo, nos pidieron autógrafo y tuvimos que ceder.

Al estar comiendo unas ricas cemitas, nos dimos cuenta que la verdadera diversión estaba afuera, donde una gama interminable de personajes campechaneados de diversos videjuegos compartían los sagrados alimentos.

Como era de esperarse, el que resultó ser un antisocial de lo peor, fue Kratos (región 4) quien al igual que en la antigua Grecia, rellenaba su energía con una mítica Cemita Poblana.

El problema (como en toda comida) viene, cuando llega la enfermera diabólica y amenaza a todos y a todo en su camino…

Y uno cree que tiene la vida comprada hasta el momento que se las ve de cerca… con el cuchillo de la enfermera diabólica claro esta. Y en esta ocasión, ni yo pude salvarme… es tentador querer morir en esas ocasiones. Pero sobreviví para contar esto.

Aún cargo con heridas psicológicas de ese encuentro...

Fue para nuestra fortuna que posteriormente nos enteramos que la diabólica enfermera de Silent Hill solo quería recuperar un poco de su reputación compitiendo en el concurso de Cosplay de ese día. Y vaya que dio batalla con un muy buen… o raro… o terrorífico show.

Y como todo buen concurso de Cosplay, hubieron quienes se lo tomaron bastante en serio, y la verdad, se les aplaude por pararse en frente de cientos de ñoños como nosotros y lucir, digamos… asi.

Y aunque se vivieron momentos de tensión para elegir a las ganadoras del concurso, al final, la decisión de los jueces llegó acompañada de un tremendo abucheo. Estas eran todas las participantes:

Y las tres ganadoras, teniendo como tercer lugar a la Enfermera acosadora de fans, en segundo lugar a un personaje de Dynasty Warriors y en el gran primer lugar (o al menos eso dicen ellos) a Harley Quinn de Batman Arkham Asylum. – Aunque todos queríamos a la Enfermera maldita como el primer lugar, tuvimos que aguantarnos.

Aunque no estuvimos muy de acuerdo con las ganadoras, si estuvimos de acuerdo en que la calidad de Cosplayers estuvo al mismo nivel que todo el evento. La lección que aprendimos: Mala idea acercarse a mujeres con cuchillos y espadas.

Fernando lo intentó... casi perdió la cabeza.

No quedará más que esperar al próximo año para que la justicia Cosplayera entre en acción, por ahora, Harley se llevó un PS3 nuevo y los espectadores un show que rayó entre interesante, bien armado y a veces…simplemente…raro.

Ya de salida del evento nos topamos con un Comando de Edecanes que no estaba dispuesto a dejar pasar esta oportunidad de tomarse una foto con el mítico equipo de Floppy. A lo cual gustosamente accedimos!

Al final del dia no queda más que decir que Playstation México ya es una realidad y este evento nos lo dejó clarísimo. Es un gusto que finalmente nos comiencen a tomar en serio como un mercado real! Las Crónicas Vicino y Floppy Radio le dan una estrellita en la frente y diez cerrado a Sony con este evento, que esperamos se vuelva tradición anual!

Ah y porcierto, espero que quien se haya convertido en el nuevo dueño de mi iPod durante el evento, disfrute las canciones que este contenía. Y arda en el infierno mientras lo hace. Gracias. (Le recomiendo Dies Irae de Mozart para ambientar).

El pasado martes el Real Madrid volvió a caer con el Alcorcón, equipo que va quinto en su liguilla de SEGUNDA DIVISIÓN B ESPAÑOLA y que el Castilla cuenta con casi todos los partidos jugados contra ellos por victorias.

Pues en la ida, 4-0, con el Madrid que salieron como a pasear por el monte. En el primer minuto ya habían disparado a puerta dos veces el Alcorcón.  Y al final de la media hora iban 2-0. ¿Qué pasa?

¿Qué pasa en el Real Madrid? El equipo no funciona, Pellegrini no conecta con los jugadores y menos aún con los aficionados y la dirección deportiva ha hecho un gran fracaso. El hecho de vender a jugadores como Negredo, Robben, Sneijder, Parejo o Torres y seguir con jugadores como Drenthe, Diarra, Gago, Guti y Raúl es un claro fallo técnico.

Parece que este año va a ser otro año en blanco para los merengues, en los que me incluyo, y habrá que esperar al próximo año (con los muy posibles fichajes de Negredo, Parejo y Ribery) para mejorar.

Aunque está claro que lo que más necesita el Real Madrid es un mediocentro constructivo que pegue con el estilo del equipo… creo que no hace falta aclarar a quien me refiero.

Mi padre y yo nos lo comimos ayer en un guiso de papas…

Querido Pimiento, gracias por ofrecerte como voluntario para mis experimentos culinarios… tus compañeros de nevera: Zanahorio, Pimientillo y los hermanos Tomatines te echarán de menos hasta el día en que les toque a ellos sucumbir en los fogones…

   Quan un professor programa a principi de curs les activitats extraescolars (extra- en el sentit que impliquen una sortida física de l’edifici-escola, tot i que estan, o haurien d’estar, plenament connectades amb el que es fa entre aquelles quatre parets), es troba avui en dia amb una gran varietat de propostes. Afortunadament, hi ha moltes d’institucions públiques i privades que en l’actualitat organitzen un munt –“un munter” dirien les meves filles– d’activitats didàctiques ben aprofitables per a afavorir l’aprenentatge de l’alumnat i per a acostar l’escola a la realitat social que viuen quotidianament.

   Els nostres infants i joves assisteixen així a interessants sortides en el medi natural, tallers sobre arqueologia o artesania medieval, actuacions musicals i teatrals, visites guiades a l’aeroport o a fàbriques i altres empreses… A més de les activitats que promou la pròpia Conselleria d’Educació, el Consell de Mallorca, o l’Ajuntament de Palma –com molts d’altres ajuntaments illencs– és destacable la tasca realitzada per fundacions privades i per l’Obra Social d’institucions com la Caixa de Pollença ‘Colonya’, la Caixa de Balears ‘Sa Nostra’, o La Caixa. No sé si és per un excés d’oferta, però de vegades tenc la impressió que certes activitats són poc aprofitades pels educadors i les escoles.

   Quan el mes de setembre em vaig assabentar que el fotoperiodista GERVASIO SÁNCHEZ (Córdoba, 1959) venia a fer una xerrada al Caixafòrum de Palma, dins el marc de les seves activitats educatives, vaig reservar correntsos la participació del nostre grup del Batxillerat de Ciències Socials perquè no volia que s’ho perdessin. La veritat és que quan dijous passat, el 29 d’octubre, arribàrem al Gran Hotel, la sala no era plena del tot: tan sols hi érem noltros i un grup (de 4t d’ESO) d’un institut. Llàstima.

   Llàstima, perquè va valer la pena. I molt. Llicenciat en Periodisme per l’Autònoma de Barcelona, Sánchez ha cobert els principals conflictes armats del món, tant la guerra del Golf como els de l’antiga Iugoslàvia, Àfrica, Àsia i Hispanoamèrica. Ha fet feina per a l’Heraldo de Aragón, la BBC, i el Magazine de La Vanguardia i altres mitjans. Amb motiu del 50è aniversari de la Declaració Universal dels Drets Humans (1998), l’Organització de les Nacions Unides per a l’Educació, la Ciència i la Cultura (UNESCO) el nomenà Enviat Especial de la UNESCO per la Pau.

   Té una llarga llista de guardons, com el Premi Internacional de Periodisme Rey de España – Fotografia (2009), el Premi Ortega y Gasset d’EL PAÍS (2008) per la sèrie Vidas minadas, el Premi LiberPress (2005) en reconeixement a la seva tasca “en favor de la libertad de prensa y la denuncia de las injusticias“, i el Premi Cirilo Rodríguez (1996), el més prestigiós a Espanya per a periodistes que treballen a l’estranger com enviats especials o corresponsals permanents.

   Érem pocs, …i la conversa va ser molt profitosa. Quan ens presentaren, el primer que em va dir va ser: “¿De cuánto tiempo disponemos: dos, tres horas…? ¿Tenéis prisa?”. Començà a les 11:00 dematí i eren les 13:30 quan acabàvem, després de les preguntes que feren alguns dels nostres alumnes. Gervasio contà la seva experiència com a fotoperiodista (captant l’atenció dels estudiants de Cultura Audiovisual) però sobretot donà una lliçó de com es pot ser un gran professional, premiat múltiplement, sense trair les seves il·lusions com a lluitador en favor dels més dèbils i com a activista contra les mines antipersones. En aquesta descripció de la seva feina, va anar intercalant tota una sèrie de fotografies –algunes d’una cruesa molt dura, però ben reals, sense photoshop que valgui– que il·lustraren la narració d’anècdotes i de l’explicació del projecte Vidas Minadas, que ha duit a terme en col·laboració amb OnGs com Intermón Oxfam, Manos Unidas, i Médicos sin fronteras.    Per ventura vos sona el seu nom perquè quan el 7 de maig del 2008 rebé el Premi Ortega y Gasset, davant la plana major del grup PRISA, la vicepresidenta del govern, ministres del PSOE, Gallardón i Aguirre, i exministres del PP, armà un gran rebombori amb un petit però contundent discurs sobre la venda d’armes espanyoles en el món, que ha circulat, i ben molt, per internet. Ara llegesc en premsa que Gervasio Sánchez ha estat premiat amb el Premi Nacional de Fotografia, atorgat pel Ministeri de Cultura ahir per primer cop a un fotoperiodista. Des d’aquí li enviï la nostra enhorabona i, de pas, felicit La Caixa per haver inclòs Sánchez en aquest cicle dedicat a persones ben interessants que poden acostar l’autèntica realitat del món als més joves. No sé…, de qualque manera, crec que sent l’enèssim guardó d’aquest nº 1 com una miqueta més proper: més proper perquè dijous passat l’escoltàrem de primera mà durant més de dues hores. Vaig parlar amb ell uns minuts en acabar el col·loqui i, creis-me, la conversa em reconcilià en certa mesura amb el periodisme que es fa actualment (si més no, amb una petita però valuosíssima part d’ell). Com en Gervasio, jo també vull creure que Martin Luther King tenia raó quan negava que el Banc de la Justícia hagués fet fallida. No ens ho podem permetre. Mai.

My stars, remember how boring it was when you were a student and some idiot on magic mushrooms insisted you wait while he lovingly counted every brick in a block of flats? That’s what it was like in Jason’s company this week. After storming round to Lafayette’s to complain about his aubergine-willy experience, he almost immediately agreed to try vampire blood again, one drop on a piece of paper like an acid tab. Man, that Jase is stupid as pecan pie. On a V-trip, all his senses were heightened a hundred-fold, which to my reckoning brought him almost up to the level of normal human functioning. He realised he had loved Tara all along, with visions of her as a Botticelli-type angel, revealing how very loop-de-loop he’d gone. The real, earth-bound, Tara advised him to ask her again when he was sober. And rightly so, for not ten minutes later she found him ecstatically shagging a jailbait divorcee, doggy style, round the back of the bins.

 As usual, Jase was the Art Garfunkel to the Paul Simon of the Sookie and Bill storyline. This week, Sookie boinged like a pinball between Bill and Sam, only able to see the merits of one when she was with the other. I started to wonder if both men mightn’t get fed up and go off with each other, but that was just me, trying to add an extra layer to a plot that really has no need of further complication.

 Irritating Gran had arranged for Bill to speak to her church society, and unsurprisingly the whole town showed up, including a bunch of hooligans armed with that classic redneck weapon, the garlic crusher. Best gag was when a plump middle-aged lady in her best hat tried to remove the cross from the altar in case it fried Bill like a bacon rasher. It proved immovable so she chucked a union flag over it, but Bill coolly removed this when he stood to speak. His reminiscences about fighting in the Civil War were very moving, as was the way he won the crowd over, and we got to see flashbacks when Bill was the same colour as the rest of us (Kid: ‘Mama, he’s so white!’ Arlene: ‘No, darlin’, we’re white. He’s dead’).  Sookie gazed at him adoringly, and was dragged off by Sam, after a sexy face-off with Bill in which they argued about employment legislation.

Lots of fun scenes this epi, including the appearance of the above-mentioned red-herring good time girl who looked set to be the next victim but was in fact just the next casual shag for Jason (which probably does make her the next victim, of being bored to death if by no other means); Tara dumping garbage over the pair of them, thereby putting the trash in trailer-trash; the virginal Hoyt failing to get off with the red-herring but drinking the red drink and recoiling at it being served warm, at blood temperature; and Lafayette harnessing the power of his ingested vampire blood by straight-bashing three cartoon baddies at once.

We discovered more of Bill’s back-story, including how he came to be a vampire (a nasty lady bit him on his way home from war), and we saw that despite Sookie’s protests, Bill does indeed have feelings, taking vent on a completely innocent toasting fork. In fact, Bill came out well in this episode, a lot better than Sookie (fickle), Sam (weird), Jason (everything), or Irritating Gran (dead). Yes, it looks as if Gran has delivered her last line of annoyingly fey homespun wisdom. For which I can only say, chuck another log on the fire, Bill, and let’s raise a can of Fresca.
