inspiration… nope… not quantum mechanics, not chance or destiny either… and no i’m not into metamorphosis stuff. si melaikick pa din ako… just more girly, hahaha. have you ever seen a butterfly on water? when it lands it causes these nice ripples on the water and to me …it’s kind of beautiful…

meron kasi kaming malaking dram ng tubig dati sa bahay namin, you know, the metal ones that are used to catch rain water… and we have this garden with lots of lilies and a humongous imelda rose bush so madaming visitor na butterflies. ewan ko… i just sort of remembered it. kaya ayan! thanks to sudds for the brushes! instead of using a color palette, why not use rainbow colors… o baka nasobrahan lang ako ng pag-stay dito sa bahay ko? rainbow colors kasi yung walls ko. baket ba… saka swerte naman ang polka dots…

i do hope you enjoyed my art. i guess the yellow butterfly’s most noticeable… hope you can see the other ones!

My favorite model DIZNEE design again.  Originally, I wanted to create an Angelic look for Diznee but I got side-tracked.  I didn’y really think of a design, I just simply let my intincts takeover the design process.  I worked on the design all afternoon on a weekend.  I was listening to some relaxed chill-out jazz music, when I create this.  I usually listen to music when I design, it helps with the creation process.

Sig Enhanced feat DIZNEE

There are no words that can express, on how beautiful the model DIZNEE is.  This gurl is AMAZING!!

I made this awhile ago.  I wanted make a signature with a unique design.  It is basically two sigs in one.  The smaller signature was something I worked on a long time ago but I didnt like it.  I used 3D Max to create the background and I blended it with the image of DIZNEE with Adobe Photoshop CS4.   I found some new brushes to create some texture throughout.  At first I was brush happy but I toned it down, with some gradual blends to offset the beauty of DIZNEE.  I really like the layout, font and colors, which is rare because I always find fault in my creations but I was happy on how it came out.

The Money Shot - Stacey Dash

A friend of mine requested to make a signature with pretty actress Stacey Dash and a image of Michael Jordan, when he was in college.  This was fun to create because I went outside my comfort level of design, or the cliche , ” I thought outside the box” of what I usually design.  I think is important as a graphic designer to think outside the box, it creates more interesting skill sets.  I just used Adobe CS4and masked and blended shapes and colors into a nice prism of visual art.

I made this for a friend.  I wanted to create a little different, I blended some renders that I did in 3D Max and use Adobe CS4 to create the masking.  I think it came out decently.

Surreal Sci-Fi

I was in a science-fiction mood.  I wanted to make something surreal with a sci-fi twist.  I believe it came out the way I designed in my head.  A lot of people ask me, on who the model is.  And I can honestly say, I don’t have a clue on who she is.  I need to find out  because I like designing with her.

Here are some ODST wallpapers. I’m going to try to put out new versions of previous medals I’ve already done. I’ll probably make them “cleaner” looking. I’ve also began working on some other wallpaper sizes for widescreens.

Everybody loves this for some reason. Seriously. Every single person who’s seen this and commented on it has liked it. I am good with cats, apparently. But I am not a cat lover. Cats don’t like me. I was bit by a cat once. :| But that cat was eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeevil. EVIL!!!!! I’m more of a dog person m’self.

Also, I watched the Disney “Robin Hood” last night. You know, with foxes and bears? I give the movie 4/5 stars. Here we go, EDITORIAL TIME:

I liked the movie because, like all old Disney films, the animation was purely stunning. The backgrounds are beautiful and I ADORE their anthropomorphic stuff. The voicing was good and my dad and I could name (Or at least say, “Hey, that was the lawyer from Aristocats!!”) for about half the cast.

I liked the Rooster narrator-cum-bard. And, according to my mother who has read the REAL book of Robin Hood, the whole arrow contest thing was real in the story. She didn’t see the other bit with everyone in jail cuz of taxes, though, so I don’t know ’bout that.

And there was humor. They dress up as lady sooth-sayer-types and rob the Prince. Laughed at that. FUNNY. And love. Maiden Marian and Robin Hood (Cue: AWwwwwww’s!!!) And singing. There wasn’t too much…but they were pushing it… My dad thinks the lady singing was the lady who sang in the Rescuers. He’s probably right. I love foxes even more now, too. I mean, its an old movie with animals in it and its good.

My ONE beef with the movie: Little John=Buloo from Jungle Book. I mean…almost exact same character design. Actually, it IS the same character design. But he’s wearing a tunic. Seriously.

Other than that, good movie. It’s cute and fun and if your little kiddies like Robin Hood but you don’t want them watching the BBC version (Because its targetted more towards adults and is more drama/action and less happy and jolly, which was something I liked about the movie), then go for it. It’s fun to compare the BBC version ( I watch it with my parents) and the Disney version. I don’t know which one I like better…I gotta say…I like foxes.

Here are two pieces of cesarean art I recently finished.

“Exposed”

This expresses how I felt in the OR; under the bright lights, numb and unable to defend myself. I felt very vulnerable.

“Ghosts”

This piece sums up the eerie nostalgia I often get about my first pregnancy. The way it ended–in cesarean section–leaves me with a strange, unresolved feeling… even 3 years later.

Tell me this wouldnt be the best shirt design ever lol. Oh and I know I know–she’s naked–get over it. It’s art.

i’ve been meaning to make this post for a while now. first, because this is some of the most fascinating art pieces that i’ve seen, and second because i’ve known the artist himself since i was a wee little 9 year old as he is my cousin’s good friend from high school.

Sam Gibbons launched his art career in NYC a while back, and has been successfully featured in art magazines and exhibitions over the years. you can very easily get lost in the intricacy of his work, and the detail he adds to these darker images.

here is an except about his work: “Employing imagery that was originally intended to entertain and pacify, Gibbons’ paintings are at war within themselves. The typical role of the cartoon is subverted; these benchmarks of inexperience are engaged in violent and sexual acts. Acting as allegories for the loss of innocence, Sam Gibbons’ paintings exist as a complex and beautiful mimicry of the human condition.”

This is the one book I fetishize (thus my very serious attempt to make it look sexy whilst  photographing it).

It was a major expense back in the day. I got a discount on it, though — I was working as a Library Assistant at the Vancouver Public Library and saved, maybe, 25%. It’s one of my oldest books.

It’s also the “Most Pure” book in my collection. Muriel Cooper’s perfect design is zen-like. Slipping the huge volume into its minimalist slipcase feels like engaging in part of an elaborate Shinto rite.

The Bauhaus changed the design destiny of the twentieth century. Its influence continues to shape our material lives.

This tome (6.5 kg and 670 pages) was first published in 1962 in Berlin. MIT Press worked the translations, and this version was launched in 1969. It quickly became the ne plus ultra amongst the plethora of books on the Bauhaus that would follow in its wake. It’s still in print, but I haven’t read any hoopla about its 40th birthday in English, so this is my tribute to a book that changed my life.

Can this graphic artist have any more awards? (I bet he can!) Andrio Abero has a pretty impressive resume, with mind-blowing graphic art to boot. Just browse through for some major inspiration, or purchase some of them (yup, they are available)… On a slightly related note: As I do spend some time browsing around magazines and of course, lately, the ‘net for inspiring stuff since I am an artist and therefore a pretty visual person. Sometimes I look at something- perhaps this wookie being tossed by the crowd- and I search for what it is that drew me in the first place. More often than not, its something seemingly insignificant- (in this case, its the distinct strands coming off the animal, weird, I know) and it adds fuel to what I may be working on at the moment or in the future. How do you work it?

I was off today for Veteran’s Day. Hurray! So, I decided to do a few commissions that were piling up. Here they are:
