When it comes to learning how to do SEO the right way, there is one course that currently stands head and shoulders above the rest.

It’s called OMG Machines and it was created by a young SEO guru named Greg Morrison.

Greg is a member of the famed Bring the Fresh program that was developed by Mike Long and Kelly Felix.

He went on to take what they taught him about SEO and combine it with his own unique strategies.

He has now taken his proven system and turned it into what is now known as OMG Machines.

The OMG Machines program was first released back in September of 2012. Here is a video that Greg made to answer a lot of questions about the course shortly after he released it.

Essentially, the course is sort of a case study that reveals the strategies that Greg used to earn over $1 million dollars in 10 months from his SEO business.

(Be sure to check out my OMG Machines review for full details on this course)

Learning how to do search engine optimization the right way can be a real challenge.

It can be really hard for those who are brand new to internet marketing and want to learn how to use the search engines to get free traffic to their website.

In the OMG Machines program, Greg has managed to turn the SEO process into a simple and easy to understand strategy that he uses over and over again to get #1 rankings in Google, Yahoo, and Bing.

So, if you are finally ready to learn how to get #1 rankings in Google at will, then get your copy of OMG Machines right here.

Tonight is opening night for one of my favourite musicals, The Drowsy Chaperone (“a comedy within a musical”) at Cappuccino Musical Theatre. It’s the story of a “slightly blue,” middle-aged musical theatre fan whose favourite 1928 musical, the fictional The Drowsy Chaperone, comes to life onstage as he provides running commentary – and sometimes speaks/sings along – to show why he loves it so much. The Drowsy Chaperone played at Theatre Calgary in 2011, but as far as I know this is the first time it’s been done by a Calgary community theatre company.

James Noonan as Adolpho

This musical, with book by Bob Martin and Don McKellar and music and lyrics by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison, is a Canadian success story, having started out in Toronto when McKellar, Lambert, Morrison and several friends created a spoof of old musicals for the stag party of Bob Martin and Janet Van De Graaff in 1997. It then moved to the Toronto Fringe Festival, was expanded for Mirvish Productions and ultimately opened on Broadway in 2006, where it won Tony Awards for best score and book.

I spoke with musical director Ian Robertson earlier this week. Ian hails from Halifax and is new to Calgary, having moved here from London, Ontario last summer. He’s got Bachelors and Masters degrees in Music (piano performance) and has always been interested in musical theatre. He’s also done some acting, but mostly focusses on music - he does a lot of opera and classical music as well. “Other than the fact that my wife is a native Calgarian, the reason we moved here is that we see Calgary as a vibrant, growing city – both artistically and economically,” he says. “Both of these elements were really important to us in deciding where to live. We’ve been following the Cowtown Opera Company for years.”

Judy Dunsmuir as “Drowsy”

One of the first things Ian did when he landed here was get involved in community theatre, on Front Row Centre’s production of Monty Python’s Spamalot. This is where he met The Drowsy Chaperone’s director Bill Torrie. Bill found out that Ian had been musical director for The Drowsy Chaperone twice in the last two years with a live band. Bill convinced him to do it ”once more, with feeling.” Ian will also be playing keyboard in the intimate four-piece emsemble he assembled for the show, which is what he typically likes to do. “Cappuccino usually does their shows with a soundtrack,” says Ian, “so having a live band will be a treat.”

Ian says The Drowsy Chaperone has a lot to offer for all audiences. “It both satirizes and glorifies the olden days of musical theatre”, he explains, “which means that people who aren’t particularly into musical theatre will enjoy laughing at it, while people who are fans will get all the “in” jokes”. He also likes that it’s a tribute to real, living people, and that the story is essentially an unravelling of the imagination of the unnamed “Man in Chair (Bill Oullet)”. “I’ve seen and done the show many times – professional, community and even children’s shows – and every “Man” brings something different to it,” he says. “Bill has been involved in community theatre in Calgary for over fifty years – he’s pretty much a legend here. He’s got a million lines and little jokes that are written with craft and care and he really pulls them off. His character is a little less campy and flamboyant than other versions you may have seen, so we’ve made more of that in the role of the George (Jimmy-Lee Vennard) instead”. Ian says their Robert Martin (Doug Keeling) is 38 and looks 25. “He’s a really quick study, having picked up about three months worth of tap-dancing skills in the space of six hours of rehearsal,” Ian said. “If you liked him as Sir Galahad in FRC’s Spamalot, you’ll love him here.”

Jay Newman and Steve Hansen Smythe as Gangsters

The Drowsy Chaperone is a simple, relatively short “mostly family-friendly” show (~ 75 minutes – it’s often done without intermission), and Ian says it has more spectacle than you might expect, with “virtuosic dance and singing – not to mention monkeys and blind-folded roller-skating. And you can’t beat Janet Van de Graaff (Chelsea Millard)’s big “Show Off” number for plain, old-fashioned fun”. Ian can’t say enough about the talent and hard work of his volunteer cast, crew and Calgary’s community theatre scene in general. “It’s incredible. These people all have day jobs, and then haul themselves out to rehearsal night after night and give everything they’ve got, “he says. “Often the people who work with them have no idea they have this other life. It’s worth coming out just to see what the person in the cubicle next to you might be doing with their spare time. And you can’t beat the quality for the price.”

Chelsea Millard as Janet

BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. (CBS4) – The Breckenridge Ski Area has a problem on its hands heading into

BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. (CBS4) – The Breckenridge Ski Area has a problem on its hands heading into ski season as people are giving ski lessons illegally. Now the town may step in to help.

The police department said it’s about safety, but one thing that’s unique with Breckenridge is that the base areas are within the town limits, so while it’s a federal violation right now, the town also wants to make it illegal.

“It’s amazing how many people do advertise, especially on sites like Craigslist, and the ski areas monitor that,” Assistant Police Chief Greg Morrison said.

[worldnow id=7784738 width=420 height=278 type=video]

Breckenridge Ski Area and the town want to crack down even harder on the dangerous niche industry. Illegal ski lessons are a federal crime because it happens on Forest Service property. But with few law enforcement officers around the ski resorts in the winter, it’s also a hard crime to catch.

“It’s total common sense. It’s better for everybody. The Forest Service, they support it also,” Morrison said.

Morrison told CBS4 about a case last year where a family paid $400 for an illegal private lesson.

“Pretty soon they came to the attention of the Ski Patrol, who found out, here are these people up in an advanced area who obviously couldn’t ski down,” Morrison said. “Any of them could have easily been hurt.”

What makes the violation an even bigger logistical nightmare is that cases are heard in federal court.

“They would all have to drive to either Denver or Grand Junction for federal court, whereby having it in municipal court it stays right here in Breckenridge.”

With a hefty fine and even jail time, the police think the law would eliminate the few people who think about breaking the law.

“It has good teeth in it and this also allows us to do stings a little more readily.”

It’s not quite singed into the town’s law yet, but the resort and the police department said they’re hoping it will be in place for opening day on Nov. 19.

BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. (CBS4)- A CBS4 investigation has learned that Royal “Scoop” Daniel, the Breckenridge lawyer accused of embezzling more than $750,000 from clients and dropping out of sight in 2007, told a Breckenridge police investigator he did not know he was wanted on criminal charges.

“He said he was not aware Breckenridge Police had a warrant for his arrest,” said Breckenridge Assistant Police Chief Greg Morrison.

CBS4 contacted Morrison in San Diego, where he said he had wrapped up two interviews with Daniel, totalling about three hours, over the last two days.

Daniel is being held in the San Diego jail on $150,000 bond. U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested Daniel, 61, as he was walking into the U.S. from Mexico. Morrison said Daniel told him he had been living in Acapulco for the last four years, doing English translation for Mexican companies that were setting up English language websites. Morrison said Daniel told him that he had no contact with friends or family since he disappeared from Breckenridge in 2007 and was simply unaware he was a wanted man.

“He told me he would probably waive extradition,” said Morrison and Daniels agreed to be returned to Colorado to face felony theft charges.

Morrison declined to answer additional questions about what Daniel said during the three hours of interviews.

The Tony Award-winning Canadian musical, The Drowsy Chaperone, is about to surface at Le Grand Theatre, in Vaudreuil-Dorion, presented by the Hudson Music Club, from March 12th to 26th, 2011. The club lays claim to being the only surviving Montreal area community theatre organization devoted to producing musicals.

The Drowsy Chaperone is a nostalgia musical that pays homage to the jazz era, with book by Bob Martin and Don McKellar, and music and lyrics by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison.

The HMC production will be directed and choreographed by Randy Davies, who is a veteran of the anglo amateur musical scene. As are musical director Sheila Engel Katz and set designer Jean-Claude Olivier. He has designed the sets for every anglo musical in town for decades.

Talk about a nostalgia musical. Do you remember The Arcadians? The Lyric Theatre? (which still exists as a choir) The Beth Tikvah Players? I do. There was a time during the 1970s and 80s when Montreal musical theatre lovers could look forward to at least three or four big-budget amateur musicals every season.

Last Sunday afternoon’s trip to Highgate to see The Drowsy Chaperone turned out to be that rar

Last Sunday afternoon’s trip to Highgate to see The Drowsy Chaperone turned out to be that rare thing: a truly life-changing experience. For the Whingers made the startling discovery that Sunday lunch at The Gatehouse is just £6.99 (your choice of beef, lamb, chicken, pork or vegetarian) including a glass of wine. Sundays will never be the same again.

This put them in a very good place indeed, their stomachs, their moods and their pockets all feeling pleasingly attended to. Nothing but nothing would be able to prick their bubbles of contentment. Although Upstairs at the Gatehouse certainly had a bash.

For some reason it held the curtain for some latecomers who then appeared to get the pick of “reserved” seats exempt from the unallocated seating policy. To be fair, this may have partly been down to Andrew’s confusing tweets to the producer, his Tweetdeck (whatever that is) having apparently given up trying to keep on top of his many Twitter accounts and choosing accounts at random to send messages from (incidentally, read it and weep: as of yesterday Phil has an iPhone. Still think they’re trendy?)*

Anyway, some people arrived and the curtain went up 15 minutes late which if you were a latecomer would have been lovely but would be quite annoying if (a) you had wolfed down your Yorkshire Pudding in order to be on time or (b) you had a sprint across town ahead of you to get to the nether regions of South West London to catch Anita Harris give her Berlington Bertie in the New Wimbledon Theatre’s Centenary Celebration jamboree or (c) both .

The Whingers were getting a bit testy. Andrew thought about starting a Charles Spencer-inspired slow-hand clap. The Drowsy Chaperone‘s matinee had promised a 2 hour running time. (15 minutes longer than the original production due to the insertion of an unnecessary interval). It was not an auspicious start.

Phil spent the time doodling on his pad and discovered that director/producer Racky Plews’ name was actually an anagram of “wrecks play” which seemed somewhat ominous.

Still, they needn’t have worried. 20 minutes in and the Whingers were once more under the spell of Lisa Lambert/Greg Morrison/Bob Martin/Don McKellar’s clever pastiche of 1920s musical theatre.

How lovely to have some tap-dancing (Fabian Aloise), some terrific performances from the plucky cast – Ashley Day (apparently unscathed from giving his Aladdin to Pamela Anderson’s genie at the New Wimbledon) as Robert Martin and Amy Diamond (“came 10th out of thousands in Over The Rainbow”) as Janet van de Graaff made for a perfect leading couple. Seniors Ted Merwood and On The Buses alumnus Urusla Mohan as Underling & Mrs Tottendale were delightful. Michael Howe makes a terrific scene-stealing, scenery chewing Adolpho and Siobhan McCarthy’s Chaperone affects a pleasing whistling pipes sound to her voice that put the Whingers in mind of both Liza Minelli AND Bette Davis, which can’t be bad. Even the gangsters/pasty chefs (Jo Parsons, Will Stokes) were wonderfully engaging. Sadly we can’t link to any of their biographies because the website is written in Flash so you’ll just have to go and hunt for them yourselves. Oh, and while we’re on the subject of the website, in what sense is this “the London Premiere”.

It’s not perfect: designer Martin Thomas has perhaps been a little over-ambitious with the set, the decision to portray Trix the Aviatrix (“or, as we would say today, lesbian”) via video jars and Matthew Lloyd Davies‘ Man In Chair lets much of the abundant humour slip between his anxious fingers.

But this is a plucky, ambitious production whose musical numbers are better than anyone had a right to expect. There are at least two very cute innovations in THAT number and the Whingers hooted anew at “What is it about the Asians…” – Indeed, Phil had completely forgotten about that scene and was for a moment – albeit not for the first time – somewhat confused. For Andrew, however, The Drowsy Chaperone is rarely off his gramophone at home and if anyone was going to snipe at this production it was him, and he didn’t.

*Did anyone but Andrew ever think they were trendy? Does anyone apart from Andrew still say trendy? Savour that bitterness. Phil, of course, just had to stump up for the new iPhone-vastly-superior-to-Andrew’s model. But he’ll still call it a mobile.
