Two years ago I remember subscribing to the Illect Recordings email list and receiving the Scribbling Idiots Idiomatic I Mixtape. The mixtape was a classic and introduced a crew that would go on to release their first debut album and most of the members went and released successful solo projects. So naturally when Idiomatic II was released I got that as soon as possible and noticed a couple changes that weren’t seen in their debut album The HaveNots.

Going through the album mixtape you realize there are more posse cuts than there were on the Crew’s previous efforts. Also those same posse cuts and other tracks on the album feature the extended family that we didn’t see too much of in the previous efforts. In an interview with Cas Metah he told there is no more extended family, there’s just the Scribbling Idiots. For those who forgot the Scribbling Idiots are JustMe, Cas Metah, Mouth Warren, Theory Hazit, Wonder Brown, MotionPlus, Elias, Kaboose, MattmaN, Re:Flex the Architect and newcomer MuzeOne. MotionPlus is on a lot more songs, Elias makes a couple of appearances, Kaboose is nowhere to be found and MuzeOne was admitted into SI just before the album finished so he’s only on one track. I talk more about the crew in a moment let’s talk about the tracks.

After Masta Ace gives an intro to the mixtape, you’re instantly beat over the head with a seven minute posse cut featuring a bar verse by every SI member except Kaboose and MuzeOne. After the posse cut we’re treated to Elias rapping and singing over “Welcome to Jamrock”, I absolutely his freestyle here and Elias said that seeing him do that live is even better than it is on the mixtape, which makes want to see him in concert.

To clear up some confusion Griffin doesn’t hold the title of Tunnel Rat and Scribbling Idiot, but he is considered actual family because he’s brothers with SI member Mouth Warren. Put Mouth and Griffin together and you get EDM, the two did a track for Idiomatic II called “All the Data”. The track is fire and will have your head nodding once the song starts, that’s how addicting it is. The two them cover their history and then talk about the hip hop game and how it’s kind of falling apart. The beat is completely left field from the other beats on the mixtape and it’s great.

MotionPlus gives us a freestyle verse and then my second favorite song on the mixtape “Every Day That Ends In Why” which features Cunninlynguists member Deacon the Villain. The song showcases storytelling from JustMe and Mouth Warren. Mouth’s verse is my favorite and tells a story of a guy who’s best friend dated the girl he liked. After the two broke up the guy who liked the girl for so long told his best friend that he liked her, after that the friendship was destroyed. The song has an addicting peaceful but sad beat, but that takes the song to another level. All three emcees verses make the listener think and make the track complete.

“Pushing Along” is my favorite song on the album and has JustMe, Wonder Brown, MotionPlus and Re:Flex on it. They cover the idea of pushing on even when times get tough and things get difficult. MotionPlus kills the chorus on this one and the layout of the song is interesting also. JustMe does a 16 bar verse, Wonder Brown and Motion both get 8 bars and Re:Flex caps the song off with another 16 bar verse.

The Scribbling Idiots bring a great effort on Idiomatic II, however most of the album sounds more like a positive underground hip hop album, rather than a Christian Hip Hop album. The lyricism isn’t always there, “Heads Up” being the prime example. With Idiomatic I you could hear the Christianity, they didn’t stuff it down your throat but it was there. I’m not saying it’s not there with Idiomatic II, it’s just not there as often. Granted the album/mixtape is for every Scribbling Idiots fan on the planet and is a good album/mixtape to put in the stocking this year!

Family Guy

…and I love it! Okay, its not like my favorite show, but its really hilarious, so I thought Id share about it with you!

Family Guy is mostly about a dysfunctional family in a pretty crazy world. With spontaneous and sometimes stupid events this show will keep you laughing through the whole program. The Family has six members:

Peter the father, who is basically the main character of the whole show.

Lois the mother, who constantly tries to keep the family from losing control.

Stewie the homicidal baby, probably the funniest on the show.

Chris the son

Meg the daughter

Brian the dog who very often turns out to be smarter then the rest of the Griffin family.

I hope you will watch Family Guy if you dont already, its a hilarious show, and I highly recommend it.

The issue of Nick Griffin’s appearance on BBC’s flagship political show Question Time has been one of the biggest stories of the Autumn season. The BBC have been vilified in many quarters for even allowing the BNP leader on the show. These people are no doubt the same people who would have complained had the BBC backed down and pulled Griffin’s appearance on the show. They are the complainers of our society and the BBC shouldn’t listen as they were completely in the right (pardon the pun) about their decision to give him a seat on the panel.

Unlike all other members of the press, the BBC have set guidelines which state that they have to be impartial in all cases and have a duty to represent all political parties fairly. No matter how much you agree, or more likely disagree, with the BNP’s views, the rules that the BBC have set themselves mean that the right-wing party have the right to express those views. If you also take into consideration the fact that the BNP had just won two seats in the European Parliament, the BBC’s decision is completely justified in my view.

However what I didn’t agree with was how the BBC handled the direction of the show. The 22nd of October edition of Question Time merely turned into the NIck Griffin show. I can barely remember any issues covered on the show that did not have something to do with the BNP’s and Griffin’s views on society. What this should have been was a fair debate on all matters political, which would have given Griffin the chance to voice his policies, which I’m sure would have been attacked and taken apart by the other panelists. Instead, this show turned into one big attack on Griffin and his party, with the BBC being accused by the BNP of leading  a “witch-hunt” against them.

While this may be a slight exaggeration, it is certainly true that the BBC was certainly not impartial in its treatment of Griffin. At every angle they turned to there was a new criticism of the BNP, with the programme makers barely allowing any time to be spent on other political matters. By all means, a debate like this should occur as, quite frankly, Griffin’s view are disgusting, however, the BBC’s Question Time, a show which prides itself on impartiality and fairness, was not the right setting for it. As much as I disagree with Griffin’s personal views and the policies of his party, for once I could sympathise with the treatment he received. Appearing on the BBC Griffin had the right to think that he would, for a change, be treated fairly and have the chance to express his views. However this never happened and it seems to me the BBC are guilty of leading Griffin into a trap.

Ortiz vs Griffin

O UFC 106 contava pôr frente a frente dois verdadeiros colossos na disputa pelo título de pesos pesados, porém a doença de Brock Lesnar obrigou a uma súbita mudança de planos. Deste modo o combate principal do evento acabou por ser a reedição da luta que Forrest Griffin e Tito Ortiz haviam travado em 2006, com a vitória desta feita a sorrir a Forrest, que triunfou por decisão dividida e assim lembrou aos fãs que é capaz de mais do que ser espancado por Anderson Silva e correr para os balneários. Destaque também para a estreia na UFC de António Rogério “Minotouro” Nogueira, o irmão gémeo de António Rodrigo “Minotauro” Nogueira. Se os dois irmãos são praticamente iguais em termos de nome, alcunha, rosto e talento, a diferença principal acaba por ser ao nível do peso, já que Rodrigo é um peso pesado enquanto Rogério luta em pesos meio-pesados. Neste UFC 106 “Minotouro” enfrentou então o seu compatriota Luiz Arthur “Banha” Cane, vencendo facilmente por TKO. Diga-se que Rogério é mestre de jiu-jitsu brasileiro, tal como o seu irmão, todavia tem igualmente combates disputados em boxe, sentindo-se claramente à vontade na “nobre arte” do Marquês de Queensbury. Que o diga Luiz Cane, que depois de umas esquerdas bem impactadas deu por si no chão sem entender muito bem o que se tinha passado.

Os fãs ficam agora à espera de saber quem será o próximo adversário de Rogério, porém parece certo que não irá lutar pelo título pelo menos enquanto este estiver nas mãos de Lyoto Machida, já que o karateka de Belém, os irmãos Nogueira e o campeão de pesos-médios Anderson Silva são grandes amigos e parceiros de treino de longa data, tendo já afirmado por diversas vezes que não se enfrentarão em combate. Mas numa organização que conta com Forrest Griffin, Rashad Evans e sobretudo Maurício “Shogun” Rua, é provável que não demore muito até que se encontre o próximo adversário de António Rogério Nogueira. Earlier this month, Officer Chad Moxon’s dog, Jimi, was stolen from his home then shot to death and dumped along the side of Culloden road.

On Sunday, Rock Springs Church in Milner is helping to replace his partner with another K-9. Jimi was a narcotics, cadaver and explosive detecting dog. Last week, Pastor Benny Tate heard Moxon’s sad story and decided his church could help.

This is one of the only explosive detecting dogs in our area,” Tate said. “The children in our area are not safe without this dog.” After Sunday services ended, members of the congregation gave checks, change and cash.

“I think it’s great, it’s nice to have a part in helping to get another dog. I have children that go to the school here so it is very comforting to know we are going to have another dog,” Melissa Baker said. Baker said she was concerned about the safety of the community with Griffin Police being down a K-9.

Moxon said the loss is having a big impact on his department.

“It’s made it a lot harder on the other K-9 officers because now they are having to pick up my slack. They are picking up weeks I am supposed to be on call. They are getting together to pick who is going to do it,” Moxon said.

Since Jimi was killed, Moxon has been able to raise $5,100 to buy a new K-9. The average cost runs around $ 8,500. The police dogs killer or killers have not been found. There is an $ 8,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest. Moxon said he is humbled by the community’s response. “I never realized people knew how important these dogs were to the community and how much of an asset they are to the police department and the community. As I see people today donating, coming up saying they are sorry, it makes me realize people do realize how important these dogs are. I am doing better [but] I still miss Jimi. I wish we could have him back and put someone in jail for this,” Moxon said.

We had a great night with friends last night watching UFC 106.  We have a little contest every UFC night to see who correctly picks the most winners.  I was pretty pleased in that I only missed one fight, picking Ortiz over Griffin in the final fight of the night.  I would have been very happy with that if my 15-year-old son, Noah, hadn’t correctly picked the winner of EVERY fight.  So now I need to blog a little about UFC 106 and spend at least some talking about Ortiz/Griffin and wondering what one judge was doing during the first round.

First of all, I’m a major UFC fan.  I love watching MMA.  I am also a martial artist, and I enjoy watching the especially skilled mixed martial artists employ their skills.  I do not enjoy or support those who display a lack of respect for the martial arts or for their opponents.  I don’t want to see UFC turn into anything like professional wrestling.

With that said, here are my personal observations on the major bouts from UFC 106:

Ortiz/Griffin:  I was hoping Griffin would win because I don’t like Ortiz’s attitude, but I thought Ortiz had more to prove and would come out with serious motivation.  While I don’t disagree that Griffin won, I have to believe the judge who scored it 30-27 for Griffin was smoking something.  Round 1 should most certainly have gone to Ortiz.  Round 2 could’ve gone either way on my scorecard.  Ortiz had a take down or two, but Griffin finished strong and defended well from the ground.  Round 3–Ortiz never actually answered the bell!  Even if Ortiz had been given rounds 1 and 2, I would personally have given Griffin a 2 point win for round 3.  Ortiz said he had a cracked skull (and he certainly had the black eye), but he simply didn’t show up for the final round.  Kudos to Griffin.  He defended the ground extremely well and landed some outstanding kicks on Ortiz.

Johnson/Koscheck:  I picked Koscheck to win, but not because I dislike Johnson.  Johnson has outstanding power and comes across as a good guy.  BUT THE BOY NEEDS A GROUND GAME!  Koscheck was just too well-rounded, and once it went to the mat, Johnson was toast.  This fight really can’t be discussed without addressing the knee that Johnson delivered to Koscheck’s head while Koscheck was still on the ground.  This was replayed over and over again in slow motion.  It was definitely an illegal knee.  However, Koscheck came up holding his left eye. The replays made it very clear that Johnson’s knee struck the RIGHT side of Koscheck’s head.  So why was Koscheck hold the wrong eye?  Personally, I think he was going for a breather and getting inside Johnson’s head.  Johnson was far more bothered by the later eye poke from Koscheck, which I’m not certain at all was incidental.  Koscheck’s after fight comments and tweets were filled with cockiness and arrogance–both unprofessional and immature.  This leads me to the conclusion that he may be a bit of a dirty fighter (or a cry baby), does not have the respect for the sport that it deserves, and he needs to grow up.  We don’t need someone else behaving like Lesnar in the UFC.  I’m anxious for him to be taken down a notch or two.  It won’t be long.

Thiago/Volkmann:  This was not the fight of the night, although I still enjoyed watching Paulo Thiago.  I didn’t know a lot about Volkmann prior to picking Thiago, but after seeing Volkmann’s less than impressive physique, I was feeling even better about my choice!  Volkmann, however, is a skilled athlete and an outstanding wrestler, and we now know he can take some punishment.  I was obviously not surprised he lost, but I was impressed that he stuck around for 3 rounds and held his own as much as he did.  He needs some jiu jitsu training, but I believe we’ll see more of him.  A solid outing for Thiago, but if you were going to pick a fight during which to head out to the concession stand…

Baroni/Sadollah:  When picking a fight with Baroni, all you really have to do is determine if his opponent has the ability to not get hit too hard during the first 30 seconds, because after that Baroni is gassed.  Baroni is a great physical specimen, but he’s all about that first 30 seconds of flash and dash before the crash.  Sadollah survived the onslaught and picked Baroni apart the rest of the fight.  I ended up a little disappointed that Sadollah couldn’t put Baroni down.  This left me questioning Sadollah’s cardio a little bit.

Nogueira (Little Nog)/Cane:  Big Nog’s brother was the easiest pick of the night, and he didn’t disappoint.  You know he was coming in with great experience, training, and conditioning.  Cane, well, Cane could use some of that training.  In particular, he needs to learn not to block with his head.  Little Nog capitalized quickly on Cane’s lowered right hand and dropped him to the mat.  No doubt we’ll be seeing Little Nog on a UFC pay per view in the future!

In the past week I have scene to fights that a judge has given it to one fighter and another judge gave the fight to the other in 30-27. Each time I exclaimed WHAT!?!?! (among other words). Those two fights where at WEC 44 between Rob McCullough v Karen Darabedyan and UFC 106 Ortiz Griffin II. There is defiantly a flaw with the judging system in MMA everyone knows that. Now is it all this 10 must systems fault not entirely is it the judges not being well versed enough . There are many problems with the judging and no one culprit is big enough to say they are the reason.

Now in UFC the judges score each round for Octagon Control , Effective Striking , Aggression . Now some of these terms are rather up in the air for interpretation . Take Octagon Control what dose that mean? This rule is the reason I gave Couture the win over Vera at 105 , he Controlled him and negated 90% of the damage Vera could do. Now Vera did get some good strikes in but for most of the fight was negated up against the cage.  These terms could use some further explanation to nooby viewers and for veterans.

Another thing to change would be looking at the fight as a matter of individual rounds and more at the fight as a whole. You wouldn’t look at a painting just as a matter of sections or just its upper right corner. You wouldn’t listen to a song just for 30 seconds. In these fights you should look at damage dealt overall through out the fight. Case in point Machida Shogun , Shogun clearly did more damage OVERTIME through his leg kicks and took out Machidas legs .  If the judges looked at a fight overall and as a whole along with the score cards of the rounds then maybe we wouldn’t get 30-27 one guy and 30-27 the other. Now I wasn’t a fan during Pride days but from what I’ve read they and DREAM and other Japan based promotions do this. There system is by no means perfect either just look at the last Sengoku event.

I don’t claim to have the answer to this problem I’m just giving my take on the matter.  hopefully the matter is addressed through reforms or something because bad judging screw fighters and fans in the end.

Tito Ortiz had this to say about the his fight with Forrest Griffin.

“I thought I won the fight. I thought I pulled it off two rounds to one. You know, that third round, I’m very thankful to Dr. William Smith here in Las Vegas for doing the surgery that he did, otherwise I would not have been able to step in against a guy who is ranked fifth in the world. I came in and thought I won the fight. [I didn't reveal my injuries prior because] You gotta sell the fight, right? I had disc C-7 or C-6 pressing on my spinal cord. I was in traction for awhile. Beyond that I came in and put up a fight. I put my heart and soul inside that cage every time I fight. I thought I won the fight. I thought I won. I thought I won…. I thought I won the first round and I thought I won the second round. You see the damage on his face? I got him good. In the third round I was gassed, but after taking 18 months off, I want to see another fighter come in here [and undergoing back surgery] and do what I just did. I gave my heart and soul, man. I entertained the fans. And for me not getting “Fight of the Night,” I’m taken back by it, but it is what it is. I thought I won. The judge called it 30-27, I mean what the fuck, are you blind or something? But hey, it is what it is, I’ll be back. I feel good. I’m sorry I let my fans down. I thought I won…. I’m pissed.”

Anthony Johnson weighs in on Josh Koscheck and his eye poke claim after Johnson’s knee to a downed Koscheck.

“I didn’t hit him in the head, I hit him in the arm. I don’t know why he would act like [that], I guess he was gassing. That’s the only thing I can think of, [him] trying to find some kind of excuse to complain. I know I didn’t hit him in the head. I thought I timed it perfect but I didn’t and that’s my fault. After him poking me in the eye it made a big difference. Then he did it twice and got both eyes the second time because when he swings, he jabs with his open hand and the right didn’t even hit me, it was just the open palm strike and my eyes, my eyes are burning like hell right now. After I hurt him, he needed that, he needed some kind of excuse to recover, but it’s all good.”

I don’t know why, but I have had the hardest time writing on my blog recently.  My life really can’t be that boring…

Ok, keys.  Last week, I went through no fewer than 3 sets of keys in the course of the week.  I locked my keys in the car… It took my 20 minutes to find the spare… I forgot about a set of keys in my jacket pocket… I left a set of keys in my weekly packing… I have since found all my keys and always have access to three copies.

Cabbage.  I want to know whose stupid idea it was to put cabbage on sandwiches.  Nasty!

In super exciting news, Griffin (Phoenix’s half brother) was born this past weekend.  He is super cute and friendly.  Pictures of both boys here.

My internship is wonderful! I really can’t say more about it, but I’m working with a great group of people on some really neat things and I’m greatly saddened by the fact that it is already half over.

I’m still backlogged with school.  Six things I absolutely must do this week (write a paper, turn in a paper, register for classes x2 schools, get an extension form signed, write contracts for 2 classes).  Everything else can wait a little bit.

In my study of German, I am now learning country and language names, which are actually kinda neat, because they are really similar to English, but just different enough that they sound really neat.  For example Ich bin Amerikanerin.  Ich spreche Englisch. However, my spelling still stinks.

I really can’t think of anything else to write right now…. I’ll try to write more often!

Ortiz-Griffin 2 moves up the card to replace Brock Lesnar’s UFC heavyweight title defense against Shane Carwin, which was postponed until early 2010 due to an illness Lesnar suffered which has kept him out of training camp for nearly a month.

Taking over the main event slot are UFC superstars Ortiz and Griffin. For Ortiz, the bout is an opportunity to make an immediate impact in the 205-pound weight class after an 18 month absence by defeating a fellow former light heavyweight champion. Across the Octagon is Griffin, a fighter looking for redemption against Ortiz after losing a razor thin split decision to “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” at Arrowhead Pond in Anaheim on April 15, 2006.

In that bout, Ortiz tore into Griffin at the opening bell, almost finishing the fight with his trademark ground and pound attack. Amazingly, Griffin survived the assault and roared back over the next two rounds, teaming with Ortiz for an instant classic. After 15 minutes, the judges declared Ortiz the winner, but the back and forth nature of the bout made it a natural for a rematch.

In the newly-added co-feature to UFC 106: Ortiz vs Griffin 2, welterweight contenders collide as Josh Koscheck meets Anthony “Rumble” Johnson in one of the most intriguing 170-pound matchups of 2009.

“Koscheck vs. Johnson is a great fight and I give credit to both guys for stepping up and making a fight like this happen,” said White. “The amazing thing about this fight is that both Koscheck and Johnson are world-class wrestlers, but they can also knock you out with one punch. I don’t know where this fight’s gonna go, but wherever it goes, it’s going to be one to remember.”

Winner of the 2001 NCAA Division I National wrestling championship, Josh Koscheck entered MMA strictly as a wrestler, but as he battled his way through the first season of The Ultimate Fighter and up the welterweight ranks, he has evolved into a well-rounded contender with dynamite in his right hand. Owner of UFC wins over the likes of Diego Sanchez, Dustin Hazelett, Chris Lytle, Yoshiyuki Yoshida, and Frank Trigg, Koscheck is well on his way to a world title shot should he get by Anthony Johnson on November 21st.

A junior college National wrestling champion, Anthony Johnson has nonetheless built his reputation in the UFC with his devastating knockout power. Winner of five of his seven Octagon bouts, San Jose’s “Rumble” has ended each of those victories (over Chad Reiner, Tommy Speer, Kevin Burns, Luigi Fioravanti, and Yoshiyuki Yoshida) by way of knockout, making him one of the most feared athletes in the 170-pound weight class.

UFC 106 Vegas

The UFC 106 is on though champion Brock Lesnar had to bow out recently against top contender Shane Carwin due to an illness the UFC 106 will go on. The UFC will headline a rematch between former UFC champions Tito Ortiz and  Forrest Griffin on Nov. 21. The Lesnar vs Carwin fight will be rescheduled to a future date in 2010.

Is Griffin out, can Ortiz make it back in?

UFC Picks: Takedown defence and the jab. Those should prove to be Forrest Griffin’s best chances of success against Tito Ortiz this Saturday at UFC 106: Ortiz vs. Griffin II.

While Griffin is usually the underdog, this time Ortiz is coming in at +120 to Griffin’s -150 over at online sportsbooks.

Why the advantage to Griffin? It might be Ortiz’s recent 0-2-1 showing for his last three fights. It might even be his lack of finishing against Machida that could still be lingering and giving the advantage to Griffin because of his decent boxing skill, height and reach advantage, but let’s not bring up Griffin’s loss to Silva though…

Well now that it’s been said, Griffin’s loss to Silva has makes this as much a fight for relevance for Griffin as it is for Ortiz. Both of these seasoned veterans want to remain in the running in the light heavyweight division. They are both former UFC LHW Champions and they have already faced each other the past. Ortiz took the first match-up via split decision at UFC 59 in April 2006. While some may not be overly excited to see these two face off again, each one of these fighters needs this win to stay in the spotlight.

When the spotlight was on Ortiz, he was definitely exciting to watch when he took opponents down and ground them into the mat. While many other fighters have developed their wrestling abilities and takedown defense, Ortiz has seemingly failed to develop his stand-up game. To me, this leaves Ortiz as a star of yesterday and a faint hope for today. I hope Ortiz has developed his hands in the last year. Quite frankly, if it’s more of the same old, I’ve seen it before and often enough that I’d want to see it from someone else. According to Tito, he’s more than he ever was and he’s more than in top form. In fact, he’s going to give us the fight of the year. I’d settle for something new and exciting even if it wasn’t fight of the year.

That’s a lot to say against one of the top wrestlers in the sport, but Ortiz’s hiatus was a bit of fresh air for me. If he’s coming back to reign like he says he is, I for one have high expectations.

I hold those expectations for Griffin as well. Admittedly, Griffin’s boxing is not the best, but it is good and at times has served him well. He could out-box Ortiz, but Ortiz is no marshmallow. He can take a few good shots, and Griffin hasn’t demonstrated the knock out power to put Ortiz down early or decisively, and Griffin’s never been famous for his power. So, that leads me to think that Griffin will have to out point him to win. If he wants to achieve this, he has to stay on his feet and keep Ortiz from taking him down. This may work some of the time, but in the end, I think Ortiz’s attempts will start to wear Griffin down and eventually overwhelm him. I expect Ortiz will get his takedown and end up causing damage from the top position.

There, I’ve just talked myself into rooting for Ortiz. How does he make me do that?

I’m going with Ortiz, the underdog. Help us all…

UFC-108 : Griffin Vs Ortiz

Se disputar aquele que é votado como o melhor combate da noite pode parecer uma honra, tal deve ter parecido consolo na altura a Forrest Griffin, ex-campeão de pesos meio-pesados da UFC. O lutador norte-americano foi de tal modo ridicularizado pelo brasileiro Anderson Silva que no final da luta não esperou pelas entrevistas e saiu do octógono correndo, bem ao jeito de Forrest Gump e do célebre “Corre, Forrest, corre.”

Não se sabe ao certo se terá corrido de uma costa à outra dos Estados Unidos, como o seu homónimo no filme, mas entretanto Griffin parou de correr e prepara-se para enfrentar de novo um dos lutadores mais populares da UFC, o célebre Tito Ortiz. Tito Ortiz, de 34 anos, é parte incontornável do período que lançou a UFC no mainstream, juntamente com Randy Couture e Chuck Liddell.[+]

Os combates que estes lutadores travaram entre si ajudaram a fazer da organização norte-americana o que é hoje, com vendas de pay-per-views a cifrarem-se invariavelmente em largas centenas de milhar. Fora do octógono Ortiz é também uma figura que dá nas vistas, tendo por exemplo sido pai de gémeos juntamente com a lendária ex-atriz pornográfica Jenna Jameson já em 2009.

Griffin e Ortiz encontraram-se já em Abril de 2006, com a vitória a sorrir para o último por via de decisão dividida. Desta feita Griffin sabe que uma eventual derrota será a terceira seguida, o que não será nunca uma situação agradável. Por sua vez, Ortiz já parece encarar o MMA como uma ocupação de part-time, sendo que este será apenas o seu terceiro combate nos últimos três anos. Ainda assim, por certo que o homem que deteve o título de pesos meio-pesados durante três anos (2000 a 2003) quererá mostrar aos fãs que ainda é uma força dentro do octógono.

Nos outros combates da noite, destaque para o que irá opor os brasileiros Luiz Arthur Cane e António Rogério “Minotouro” Nogueira, o irmão gémeo de António Rodrigo “Minotauro” Nogueira. Esta luta, disputada na categoria de pesos meio-pesados, marca a estreia na UFC de Rogério, um atleta com créditos firmados em vários continentes tanto ao nível das MMA como do boxe.

O seu registo apresenta 17 vitórias e 3 derrotas, uma delas por decisão unânime contra Maurício “Shogun” Rua e outra através de um KO tão devastador quanto inesperado às mãos do camaronês Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou. Luiz Cane, cuja alcunha é “Banha”, conta com um currículo de 10 vitórias e 1 derrota, tendo esta última acontecido por desqualificação resultante de uma joelhada à cabeça de James Irvin quando este estava no chão, algo que era encorajado no Pride mas que é proibido pelas regras da UFC.

It’s been a long time comin’ for the kid, but the girl with the pro nails has finally released her much anticipated (if that’s the right word) album – Ultraviolet.

The album is available via iTunes, Amazon, the Fool’s Gold online store, and she’s coming hard with a bunch of tour dates too (but unfortunately it looks like it’s US-based only, check it on on her myspace).

We’ll have to see if the momentum is still there, the hipster market isn’t the most loyal bunch, you know.
