I recently took a walk to find inspiration. I searched for some kind of perfect subject to write on.

I recently took a walk to find inspiration. I searched for some kind of perfect subject to write on. I try to encourage people to better themselves. That’s what I try to focus on, but this time I stopped and just listened. That might be weird to some, but it’s quite invigorating to just listen listen and observe nature.

I was struck with a notion.

We don’t know our purpose. We make presumptions of what life is, but nobody knows. Many claim, but few come forth with answers and even then we’re all skeptics. It’s a mystery, but a mystery that nobody truly appreciates.

Each and every one of us goes through this robotic ambience day in and day out. This consists of work, social life (or not), and sleep. Rinse and repeat this process. It’s an endless repetition that’s so very sad. I believe we’ve lost touch with ourselves and what it means to be human.

Instead of “watching” others live their lives on T.V. and wishing you could be someone else, just do it! So many people go through life only regretting what they never tried to achieve or opportunities they never took. Learn from these people! Do the exact opposite because apparently they made the wrong decisions if they’re now regretting it. Take a stand and push forward even if it’s hard. A barrier is bound to break. You’ll be acknowledged for your bravery and courage. Failure is not a part of my vocabulary and so I believe it shouldn’t be in yours. Failure to me means an opportunity to learn, that is all. Tap into your inner child, life was all about making mistakes but it taught you and made you wiser. You weren’t afraid then, why we afraid now? The world might have been perceived as smaller but realize that it actually wasn’t. It has always been the same. Only now your opportunities are much greater.

Take it all in. Take in everything that surrounds you, most importantly the little things. Acknowledge the simple breeze that rolls over your skin’s surface and notice the goosebumps it creates. Look up at the stars at night and remind yourself that you’re apart of it all, whether it be a grand scheme or some random occurrence. You’re here for one reason or another and it’s okay if you don’t know why. Meaning is what you make of it, so create yourself.

Our lives are all wonderful and even if you may not see it that way, I bet I can find someone who does. Now go be alive. Go on and truly live.

In the trees, the air, the animals, your siblings, your parents, even that annoying fly that keeps buzzing around your head (where did you put that fly swatter?). As much as we may not like it at times (or even loathe being forced to be in it), we cannot stop it from happening.

This will be a place for me to shout out my voice about anything and everything, to give opinions, advice, observations and sometimes just plain silliness.

I welcome all of you to give your opinions right back. By no means do I profess to be perfect or know everything so I may just learn something from you. So come along for the ride with me and let’s see where it leads us and if we can learn and grow on the way.

This approach will enable us to be flexible in studying anything deemed important for the overall needs of our church family while emphasizing the greatest reason for studying and acting on these spiritual principles = LOVE OF GOD AND LOVE OF NEIGHBOR!

Approach In Brief:

LEARN:

Consider the things we as a church need to study/learn/know etc. and use our sermons and classes to communicate these things.

LOVE:

Then filter everything we learn through Loving God and/or Loving Neighbor. In every lesson/class we will ask and address questions like: How is this an expression of our love for God? How is this an expression of our love for others? How is this an expression of God’s love for us? How is this an expression of God’s love for others (saved, lost, struggling, weak, etc.)? The primary purpose is to spend the year highlighting the motive/motivation of love in everything spiritual from God’s perspective and from ours.

LIVE:

Then apply these principles by discussing specific actions, life activities, practices, efforts, disciplines, decisions, etc. that manifest this same love motive in what we have learned.

I want the church family to participate with me. Lesson plans and PowerPoints will show these three elements in every sermon and class. We will work on using this same pattern in day-to-day life plans, decisions, etc. Together we will attempt to create a new and/or reinforce an existing paradigm that, SPIRITUAL LIFE IS A LIFE OF RECEIVED AND EXPRESSED LOVE FROM BEGINNING TO END!

So… the girl from the blind date read my last blog (I gave it to my friend and she passed it along). Only problem is that it made her feel kind of bad and me look like I was desperately impatient. And now that I re-read it from her perspective, I feel bad! Cause I can totally see her point.

Sure, I started off with the “Oh me! Oh my! How lame, oh lame, am I?” crap, but at the end it could easily be interpreted like I was putting it all on her by saying she now had my contact info but hadn’t contacted me! Like that’s fair! I’m the lame one that didn’t talk to her on our date! And, of course, that wasn’t what I meant (famous last words)! The part about her not contacting me yet was there for dramatic affect. Anyone that knows me knows I do that!

Oh, but wait, she doesn’t know me! I didn’t talk to her! How could she know that?

You know, sometimes, I can be really stupid!

But, there is a silver lining! We do still have the second date planned. It looks like it will be sooner then I originally thought (YAY!). And, best of all, she’s still looking forward to it! (thus the title of this post)

So, blind date girl (no I’m not giving you guys her name), if you happen to read this, please understand that while I may be an idiot at times, I’m usually a well-intentioned idiot. And, that I’m sorry for not talking to you in the first place. I promise, I totally plan on talking to you on our next date! In fact, I stopped on my way home tonight and bought some Miracle Grow (I checked, it says it works on nuts) just to make sure!

Still single… but hoping!

Scott

Oh, and just to clarify, this is not desperately impatient. This is anxious and excited.

OK… I really have to shut-up now!

If you are pregnant one of the best healthiest things you can do is see a doctor of Chiropractic.

Another great reason for Chiropractic care during pregnancy is that it is drugless and has no side effects, unlike drugs which can cross the placenta and harm the growing baby.

Research has shown Chiropractic to help maintain pregnancy, control vomiting, reduce back pain and back labour, reduce premature contractions, shorten labor time by 60% , and reduce drug use by 50%.

To learn more about how a safe, gentle and scientific, Chiropractic adjustment could TRANSFORM your health contact your chiropractor. If you are interested in a complimentary consultation, CALL The Family Chiropractic Centre, 519-837-1234.

The U.S. economy grew 2.8 per cent in the three months ending in September, the Commerce Department

The U.S. economy grew 2.8 per cent in the three months ending in September, the Commerce Department reported Tuesday.

That was a revision from the government’s earlier estimate that the gross domestic product ?the value of all goods and services produced in the U.S.? grew by 3.5 per cent.

U.S. economic growth is still not expected to be strong enough to drive down high unemployment rates.(Paul Sakuma/Associated Press)

The report shows the economy grew for the first time after a record four quarters of contraction.

But economists and officials with the U.S. Federal Reserve say growth is not expected to be strong enough to drive down unemployment quickly. It’s now at 10.2 per cent, only the second time since the Second World War that the American jobless rate has risen above 10 per cent.

Much of the growth reflected massive government stimulus to encourage spending on homes and cars.

Spending on homes and other residential projects soared at an annualized pace of 19.5 per cent last quarter. Sales of durable goods ? such as large appliances and cars ? rose 20.1 per cent.

Overall consumer spending, a major part of the economy, grew 2.9 per cent last quarter.

Whether that will continue after the government spending abates isn’t clear.

U.S. President Barack Obama recently warned that the economy could suffer a “double dip” and return to contraction. The chairman of the Federal Reserve, Ben Bernanke, has said he doesn’t think that will happen. But last week Bernanke warned the recovery was threatened by “important headwinds,” such as tight credit and a weak job market that will make consumers cautious in their spending.

The GDP report showed companies cut back spending on commercial construction by 15.1 per cent and trimmed inventories by $133.4 billion last quarter.

However, after-tax profits soared 13.4 per cent after only a 0.9 per cent rise in the second quarter.

Paul Ferley, assistant chief economist at RBC Economics Research, said in a commentary the report “is indicative of an only modest recovery in economic activity.”

While the jump in corporate profits is “encouraging,” he said, “there remains some uncertainty as to whether it reflects aggressive cost cutting or widening margins.”

Another widely followed report released Tuesday showed the rate of home price increases in 20 major U.S. cities slowed in September.

The Standard & Poor’s/Case-Shiller home price index rose 0.3 per cent over the month to 146.51. That’s its fifth consecutive monthly increase but a dip from August’s 1.2 per cent rise. The index is now up more than three per cent from its bottom in May, but still 30 per cent below its peak in April 2006.

As I pondered what I might post, Stu, my husband, suggested a variety of topics – our basement remodel, a family trip to Maroon Bells, children with too much energy. “Stu, it’s two days before Thanksgiving. I’m thinking maybe gratitude. “ “Oh, easy” he replied. “Start with something like this: when I think about thanksgiving, I immediately think of my wonderful husband and how thankful I am to be married to such an amazing man.”

Hmm. Now why didn’t that occur to me?

Actually, I have been considering the often inverse relationship between gratitude and blessings. Have lots? Thank God lots, right? Unfortunately, no, not always. In fact, haven’t I witnessed the most plentiful and genuine thanksgiving occurring in circumstances of want?

What started me down this path was a line from Mark. In our Tuesday morning Bible Study, we are reading the book of Mark, “unfiltered.” It’s just each woman wrestling with the text and the Spirit and finding that God really has something to say. This line jumped out at me,

Pay attention to what you hear: with the measure you use, it will be measured to you, and still more will be added to you. For to the one who has, more will be given, and from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.

This passage has always struck me as a bit unfair, especially coming from the generous Jesus I think I know. But as we wrestled with it in our small group, we found that we had all asked the same question: “the one who has” . . . what? What is it that the one who has will receive more of and the one who has not will get taken away? In the group, I enthusiastically asserted, “I don’t know what it is, but I know I want it. If it’s something Jesus is handing out, I don’t want just a little, I want a lot of it, flowing over me to the full!”

Another woman in the group smiled encouragingly at my gushing and then asked, “how about suffering? Will you fully embrace the suffering Jesus may offer to you so that you can more fully align yourself with him?”

Well, that’s not what I had in mind.

I want everything Jesus has to offer – his love, his mercy, his grace, his compassion. And then I want his sense of thanksgiving too for the lavish love of the Father. I want his peace to dwell deeply in me and I want to be satisfied, content and truly grateful simply to be the object of his delight.

But, can I have a space in my soul for all of that without also fully embracing the circumstances of want Jesus will offer me? Can I know overflowing gratitude if I haven’t first experienced the anguish of true need?

In modern America, we don’t typically link thanksgiving and suffering. However, they were joined at the hip in the life of one commonly identified as a modern-day saint. In Come Be My Light we find that for most of her decades of ministry Mother Theresa had no sense of God’s presence. She prayed fervently for some sense of God’s presence in her life but she only sensed darkness. In fact, her writings are those of a woman desperately and completely in love but spurned by the object of her desire. She passionately desires Jesus but feels wholly rejected by him.

However, at the end of her life, she began to pray for and embrace this darkness. She embraced the darkness not only because it identified her with those she served – the most unwanted and rejected of our world – but also because it identified her with Jesus. She longed for Jesus, felt fully rejected by him, but yet came to understand that she found him in her suffering.

As one of her spiritual advisors wrote,

“Thirst is more than an absence of water. It is not experienced by stones, but only by living beings that depend on water. Who knows more about living water, the person who opens the water tap daily without much thinking, or the thirst tortured traveler in the desert in search for a spring?”

I live as a person who opens the water tap daily but I desire also to be the person who is truly grateful for my deep thirst quenched by the Living Water. Can I?

Currently working with the Primary Teaching Students, they have chosen their animation ideas and are now developing those ideas into something concrete. Ms Beattie is working on the idea of a growing tree that gets destroyed through harmful human acts. The tree is a symbol for world harmony. Ms Beattie’s ideas were great, though may be too large to complete in the short time that she has. I took a little time out to animate an example of how I would tackle her animation to let her and others see that ideas can be laid down quickly and effectively. Stop animation does not necessarily have to take a long time for it to be attractive and successful.

Most of us at some point have compared our life, or our self with that of others, then found our self unhappy by dwelling on what we haven’t got by comparison. We strive to have or become the perceived significant ideology of that comparison. This can only serve to cause, self-absorbed misery and more unhappiness. Even if we do reach that goal, more often we will search for the next comparison to achieve and none of these could bring the fulfilment we are in need of. It’s a constant battle, to belong.

We need to consider that whatever makes one person happy may differ from another, so even though certain people or things may look good, this may not be right for us. Often it is not the things they have or the way they look that draws us to them, it is the energy they express by feeling good about themselves and what they have. This is why we would not gain by comparing our self to others.

Lets take a look at the tree and the bamboo plant, they are different in many ways. Yet they both have strength and beauty, they both are courageous and hardy and they both have many uses for existing. Neither would benefit by comparison or that would take away the individual significance of their reason for being. Even the smallest of flower or the ugliest weed strives for its own existence, it is only the eyes and mind of human kind that categorizes every single thing. Do any of gods creatures or plants care…. no, they just get on with being themselves and existing how they are meant to. They let go when they should, they grow when they should. They just strive to be what they are and nothing more.

I know it seems odd comparing humans to nature but we are all existing for the same reason. Man kind has taken this way out of proportion, so the next time we find our self comparing, we should remind our self that we exist to be individual and not to be a mere fraction of who we are, by comparisons.

The book highlights some of Kirtsy.com’s best content and tells the story of how the site became such a hit with women around the globe.

I have had the priviledge of having some very strong, intelligent women in my life. Without diminishing any of them, I want to elevate my wife for a moment. She is the strongest, most intelligent woman I know. She would have to be…she’s married to me. All joking aside, she is. Her wisdom and creativity…as well as her ability to reject my worst and call out my best…have made my world a better place and made me a better man and human being. This topic could be taken down all sorts of trails. I simply want to say this: I found this video and the concepts behind it to be encouraging, thought-provoking, and exciting. Ladies…my dear wife…I kirtsy in gratitude and respect.

Back in Sep, my Victoria Plum tree which I planted 4 years ago produced about 15 kg of wondeful tasty plums! We have never sprayed the tree with anything and we feed it each spring from our compost heap. I made 10lbs of beautiful jam for spreading on toast this winter, a few plum crumbles for the freezer, and all the rest after we, our neighbours and friends had eaten our fill and more, I have lightly stewed and frozen.

Fruit trees are wonderful and we would love to see more planted so everyone can join in the harvest. The author of Secret Seed Society’s Rudi Radish story has set up The London Orchard Project which aims to do just this, please support them. Orchards don’t take up much space, you can grow one against a wall, in your school, park, church, wherever there is a bit of spare land. Best of all, they need hardly any maintenance. So get planting.. now is the time!

Most of parents was ignoring at their child’s emotional, therefore in sadness, anger and happiness, that can not be well-managed and have an impact on the formation of emotional mentality. Some parents are not aware her son was angry or sad, and tend to not care, but the child when it needs attention. As a result, the child will grow up to be closed and could not manage his emotions with the stable.

As a result, the child will grow up to be closed and could not manage his emotions with the stable. Education in early childhood or age zero to five years is very important because the period was the golden period of brain formation and personality of children. At that time very important for parents to provide for the establishment of educational and emotional brain cells in children to form his personality.

However, parents tend not to recognize and ignore these days, and some even provide a balanced education does not only form the intellectual intelligence and emotional intelligence to ignore. Nowadays, that it’s emotional and spiritual intelligence rather than intelligence alone.

Therefore, many experts urged parents to consider children’s education, for example by including in early childhood institutions. In addition, more parents are also advised to give attention and affection to children, so to be able to form a complete personality.

I am by no means an actress. At fourteen years old, I dabbled in the art. I wrote a Shakespearean themed play to act out with a friend on a stage in front of parents, teachers and classmates. My monotone lines and blank stare were enough to scare me away. It just was not for me. I prefer to write the lines, and watch others perform. I’m a puppeteer; I run the show.

One might attribute my lack of acting skills to stage fright. It is an easy excuse. “My lines suffered from my stage fright.” No, thank you. I just cannot act. Now, you may presently be thinking: “What in hell does this have to do with writing?”

Everything.

Page fright, publication fright, whatever you would like to call it. It is the reason you have yet to submit a piece of your work to any type of publication. You are afraid of rejection, of not being good enough. Who knows, you may not be.

Rejection means everything. It is the water to your seed of writing. You may pinch yourself to see if you are dreaming, what I am telling you is not a nightmare. Without rejection, you will be lead to think your writing does not need room to grow. It does, all writing needs room to grow. Rejection forces it to do so.

My first submission to a literary magazine took place at Rider University two years ago. I sat in my dorm, horrified. I had the guidelines in one screen, and my pieces in others. I refused to pick what to send to the magazine, I was afraid of what the outcome would be. I forced myself to submit a short story, and various poems. Not everything was accepted. To my surprise, that was thrilling. I was forced to confront the fact that my writing has yet to become perfect.

Now, I am daring you. Write a short story; write it about anything. Then, when you have tortured every last sentence to your idea of perfection, search for a literary magazine currently accepting submissions.

Submit.

Have you ever taken the platter off your Technic 1200 turntable? If so, then you know that the turntables’ secret is not direct drive but magnetic drive. Our friends at Grow Room Energy have developed such a system that you build yourself for your home.

It’s called a PMG, or Permanent Magnetic Generator. A PMG generates alternating current (AC) that can ultimately be used by your home and help lower, even eliminate, your electric bill each month!

Although the technology has been around for quite some time, it has never been adapted for personal home use, until now!

Working at very low rotational speed, the PMG is capable of producing 180W of electricity at just 420 RPM! Modifications can be made so that the PMG produces even more power at higher speeds, putting even more money directly into your bank account each month!!

Here is a step by step guide to building your own PMG.

Step 1: Order the Magnet4Power Manual for Just $49! (About ½ of what You Pay For Just 1 Month of Electricity!)

Step 2: Follow The Step-By-Step Instructions To Build Your Own PMG For as Little As $100.

Step 3: Install and Wait For Your Next Electric Bill!

That’s it. Doesn’t get much easier, does it? From the moment you order the Magnet4Power manual, you will have instant access. You’ll be able to go out and buy the supplies you need to be generating electricity in your very own back yard within days – possibly hours depending on how excited you are to get it up and running!

Don’t worry. You don’t need to be a construction worker or have a garage filled with expensive tools and equipment to create your very own PMG system! Armed with the Magnet4Power easy-to-read manual, some simple hand tools, and the determination to free yourself from the power company once and for all, you have everything you need to build your very own professional quality PMG guaranteed!
