Nismo, Nissan’s racing & tuning division, is no stranger to the FIA GT championship. They are currently competing with R35 Skyline GT-Rs in the GT1 division, racing against the likes of Corvettes and Aston Martins.

This interesting video clip gives you a closer look at the details of the car such as the carbon fiber rear end, the diffuser, interior and more. Make sure to listen to one of the cars being revved in the garage. What a sound!

Compared to this beast! I found this scan somewhere of a Nissan Stagea wagon built to the hilt and done right! Obviously, the first thing that grabs you is the Hakosuka front end. The flares, front lip, fender mirrors and intercooler sticking out reminiscent of an external oil cooler… SOOOO PERFECT! It’s amazing how well the boxy front end of the Hako melts into the boxy profile of the Stagea’s rear and. In my opinion, it would have looked better if they welded and smoothed in metal over the old Stagea taillights before putting on the Hako lights, but who am I to judge? I have a hard enough time finding the jacking points on my car!

What’s a better motor to power the Stagesuka wagon? Well… An S20. But I highly doubt the 160ps S20 would be able to power this nearly 2 ton land yacht. Instead, the tuner chose the next best thing… The legendary RB26. It looks like it’s mildly modded, but we all know what it’s capable of.

Please, please, please! SOMEBODY! ANYBODY! Christmas is around the corner! Track down this car and ship it to Hawaii for me! Or at least find me some better pictures of it!

There are a surprising amount of people who actually like this swap. S13/180SX with the S30Z front

There are a surprising amount of people who actually like this swap. S13/180SX with the S30Z front end. I don’t get why though. The lines of the Z front end are nowhere NEAR the lines of the S chassis rear, whether it’s the S13 or the 180SX. Apparently, there’s a company in Japan who makes swap kits for this conversion. Once again. Why?

I couldn’t find any information on this Z which looks like to be from an old issue of Turbo Magazine. Because it was featured in Turbo, I’m sure the motor is a complete animal, but the visuals… UGHH. It looks like someone welded a late 90’s Ford Taurus front end to the Z.

For the most part, I think head and taillight conversions should be left in the 90’s. However, there are a select few conversions that can be pulled off cleanly and enhance the looks of a car.

For Kirk… The Falken Tires S13.4 VIP-styled convertible. The Kouki S14 headlights compliment the s13 taillights as well as the boxy body. I would probably ditch the Sparcos for some Brides or Recaros though.

And the JDM Nissan Stagea wagon. Why can’t we ever get cool stuff in the states? Once again, the boxy body compliments the R34 headlights perfectly and the Bayside Blue paint from the R34 GT-R completes the package. Slam it lower on those Advan T5’s and call it a day.

Just letting it all hang out. Pit House from Japan is in the classic car sales, restoration and mod

Just letting it all hang out. Pit House from Japan is in the classic car sales, restoration and modifying business… And they’ve built and modded some burly Nissans. I’ve read somewhere that a lot of classic car restorations in Japan are not as intense as one would expect from the people who obsess over quality. Any problems that can’t be seen by the normal person is left alone. Many rust repaired cars are bondo’ed and painted over without welding in fresh metal (I heard Rocky Auto does this alot). On the other end of the spectrum, Pit House takes no shortcuts.

Hakosuka Build.

I really wish I could find a finished shot of this Hako… Look at the lip on those Longchamps in the rear! That’s gotta be Hachi N2 wheel fitment there!

A whole lot awesome, all lined up in a row fronting Pit House.

Killer S30Z and Kenmeri Skyline. Those boxes on the floor next to the Skyline is a pile of what looked like late 80’s to early 90’s porn VHS covers. I was gonna post the close up, but I work on this blog a lot at work. They may obsess over quality, but they sure are weird.

Photo copyright ©2009 Damon Lavrinc / Weblogs, Inc.

You’ve heard of diamond-encrusted televisions. You’ve heard of gold-plated refrigerators. You’ve heard of bathtubs dipped in platinum. Are any of these things better because of their blinged-out status? No.

A gold-plated refrigerator is still a refrigerator. If I gold-plated my excrement, it would still be excrement.

When you get down to the nuts and bolts of the matter, it’s just flat-out tasteless.

This is what plagues the Lexus LFA.

It’s a great machine. It can lap the Nürburgring in 7:24. It’s got a great-sounding V10 engine. It’s dynamic, and it’s the automotive equivalent of gold-plated excrement.

I have come to this conclusion via the power of complex mathematical reasoning. If I were born yesterday, I’d be able to guesstimate the LFA’s price at $168,000 just by looking at it. If you told me how it performed, I’d add $25,000 to the total. If I were to hear the sound of the engine – which may be the best sound of any road car today - I’d start feeling generous and I’d add $30,000 to the expected price.

So where does that leave us? $223,000
Lexus LFA MSRP: $380,000
Discrepancy between perceived price and actual MSRP: $157,000

So where did all those Benjamins go? They went into the carbon fiber-reinforced polymer body which saves about 200 lbs. versus an all-aluminum car.

So tell me, are you willing to pay $157,000 to lose 200 lbs? I’m not and I’m certain NBC’s Biggest Loser isn’t either. So while the Lexus LFA is a great car, it’s a great car wrapped in carbon fiber, or the automotive equivalent of gold plating, and for an extra $157,000 … well, if i carry the seven and cross-cancel – yep, that makes the car crap – crap wrapped in “gold”.

I know, everybody wants to be like Audi. Put a halo car in the showrooms to get people to walk in, and they walk out with an A4. Same thing with the Ford GT. Same thing with the Acura NSX. Same thing with the Dodge Viper. All those cars changed their entire car companies and the way people perceived them.

But now the halo car business is becoming too much of a “me too” business; as a result, I think this car will hurt Lexus’s image. The Lexus LFA is a halo car done wrong. Halo cars have to present something new and/or unique to the marketplace. The Acura NSX was the best example – it was the first supercar that was easy to drive. The Dodge Viper – the automotive equivalent of a red thong flossing a tan butt on a summer day north of 100°F. Audi R8 - a true supercar you could drive every day and almost afford. LFA: just another fast car.

You see, halo cars don’t necessarily have to beat all their rivals, but they have to be compelling. I’m sorry, but among Ferrari 599 GTB Fioranos and Mercedes-Benz SLS AMGs … even the much cheaper Nissan GT-Rs, the Lexus LFA is leaving this reviewer cold.

The name LFA originates from “Lexus Future Advance”. It’s a shame because in many ways, this car is retarding Lexus’s future.

They should have made a successor to the Supra (the name alone sounds better than “LFA”) that would have been less expensive than the Nissan GT-R, but better-performing. What they’ve given us is an overpriced Supra with a Lexus badge and radiators in the back. Stinky.

We at DSG Performance have always loved C-West. They’re creative and make some great looking parts. One of their latest creations would be for the Nissan GT-R. By now you’ve probably heard of a million and one tuners taking the Nissan’s supercar into their garage and making it faster. Well guess what? C-West decided to take on the GT-R and aimed at making it faster!

Alright, at first glance it may look like C-West is just another tuner looking to take advantage of the GT-R crazy, doing the same mods as everyone else. No, not C-West. Instead of opting for a body kit and so forth, they decided to go with a single modification. One that won’t add any extra weight and that would as always, make that snarling machine even quicker.

Behold the C-West Carbon GT-R Wing. It’s made of carbon fiber of course and has quite the unique design. Their use of carbon fiber was specifically to lighten and strengthen the wing. What makes this spoiler different? It’s adjustable. You’ve got the ‘more downforce’ route which forces the car to grip better and stay planted as well as the ‘less downforce’ setting which would be used to increase your top speed.

Now this is a great way to give that GT-R some more speed without weighing it down with a new full body kit. The price? $6000.00. Not cheap, but worth it.

Convinced? Click HERE!

Nissan GT-R Engine – Class Leading Features Victoria Nissan in Victoria, Texas is the area’s o

Nissan GT-R Engine – Class Leading Features

Victoria Nissan in Victoria, Texas is the area’s only GT-R Certified Dealer. Victoria Nissan has factory trained experts in both the advanced technology, and the everyday comforts of the GT-R. Today we’re going to share some of the technology that make the GT-R a class leader in performance.

The Nissan GT-R is powered by a 3.8-liter DOHC 24-valve V6 engine with twin turbochargers, code-named VR38DETT (DOHC Electronically controlled Twin Turbo). This 485 horsepower powerhouse has several features make this high-performance engine one of the most advanced among its competitors.

Twin Turbochargers

Twin Turbochargers integrated into the exhaust manifold

Twin Air-to-Air Intercoolers deliver charge air to two independent intake plenums

Twin Air-to-Air intercoolers

Two high-performance turbochargers — one per cylinder bank — deliver a maximum 10.2 pounds of boost to two independent intake plenums via twin air-to-air intercoolers. Both turbochargers are integrated into the exhaust manifold to provide quick response. The intercoolers make intake air cooler and denser for better combustion and therefore higher performance.

The turbochargers are developed by IHI (Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries Co., Ltd.). IHI is a leader in turbo development and supplies many race car turbo systems. The GT-R turbo system is based on a design originating from Nissan Racing Engine development.

Plasma-Sprayed Cylinder Bores

Plasma Sprayed Cylinder Bores - The chemical coating applied by the plasma-spraying process is significantly thinner than conventional liners

Aluminum-alloy cylinder blocks typically require steel liners (sleeves) for the cylinder bores to help maintain the shape of the cylinder bores and resist wear. GT-R’s engine uses an advanced plasma-spraying process to apply a chemical coating to the cylinder bores. This process results in an extremely hard and smooth surface that eliminates the need for steel liners.

The coated cylinder bores dissipate heat very quickly, enhancing power output and fuel efficiency. Because the coating is significantly thinner than steel liners (0.15mm vs. 2.6mm), it reduces engine weight by 6.6 pounds without sacrificing strength or durability.

Secondary Air Management System

A secondary air management system provides faster catalyst activation at cold start-up to reduce emissions and achieve LEV2/ULEV certification. The system includes an independent pump, air cleaner, and mass air flow (MAF) meter. The system brings the catalytic converters up to operating temperature very quickly to provide for reduced cold start emissions.

Thermostatically Controlled Engine Oil Cooler

Nissan GT-R Thermostatically Controlled Oil Cooler

A thermostatically controlled oil-cooling system helps maintain a consistent engine oil temperature. When the oil reaches certain temperatures the oil cooler increases the available oil cooling area to keep the oil at optimum temperatures.

Lateral Wet and Dry Sump Oiling System

Lateral wet and dry sump oiling system with magnesium oil pan

The g-forces generated during high-speed cornering can interfere with the proper circulation of oil within the engine. To counteract this problem, GT-R uses a lateral wet and dry sump oiling system that helps prevent oil backflow into the cylinder head area during high-g maneuvers. This “crossover” oil return system controls draining so that at high lateral g-forces, oil flows from the left head to the right side of the block (or vice versa). In addition, a dedicated oil scavenger pump carries oil away from the bottom of the turbochargers.

Hand-Built

Every GT-R engine is hand-built in a clean room

Like some exotic sports cars and aircraft engines, GT-R’s engine is hand-built by a single craftsman in a clean room environment. In addition, engine output is measured at partial and full loads prior to shipment from the Yokohama engine plant.

Shakotan. Love it or hate it. The 620 from the last post is one that would cause serious debate, much like Yuta’s Datsun 240z. Some see it as ruining a classic, while others say they’re expressing themselves. I would LOVE to have a ride like that for shows, but I would never want to daily it.

On the other end of the spectrum, how can you argue with a tastefully modded JDM vehicle? Here’s some S30’s and Skylines that caught my eye. Clean photography and a great eye.
