<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Today we had  a Shelby Cobra GT500 stop by for a few cosmetic needs, as well as a Cold Air Intake and some suspension adjustments so even though we didn&#8217;t do anything too crazy I thought I&#8217;d share a quick post about it since it&#8217;s out of the normal German realm we usually deal with.  The Shelby was riding very, very low and had a squeaky sway-bar bushing.  Also, at the time the Eibach Street suspension was installed the rear trunk trim pieces weren&#8217;t properly back together and had fallen down, causing the carpet itself to peel away from the trunk lining and yet another rattle in the mustang.  After some tidying up and a happy fit/finish on the intake the car was back on the road scaring children&#8230;  The custom exhaust on this pony is not for the faint of heart.</p>

Some one for job and some one, like me, because of study make all this impossible to continue easilly. In fact i&#8217;ve mailed the SrS authority for closing also the main site (team-superspeed.com), coz we can&#8217;t pay money for something we cannot use <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> , instead this blog will remain but for now we have to consider it &#8220;Off Line&#8221;. This will be the &#8220;last post&#8221; but i am sure that we&#8217;ll come back doing what we like and make nu friends as the Touge Spirit says from the beginning <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif' alt=':D' class='wp-smiley' /> </span></p>

Well no the new NSX was to be an FR layout, but its been killed. So instead there developing the current discontiuned model into an FR an that is what you  see a comparison of the test mule FR car to the current car.  OH the bad news in testing the FR was slower then the current car!</p>

<p>For over forty five years Ford has produced the Mustang. Keeping a model alive for 45 years alone is an impressive feat. However, the Mustang has sold very well over the decades making it the 25th all time most sold model around the world. Not an easy feat for a vehicle only sold in North America.</p>

<p>Since 1964 over 9 000 000 Mustangs have found homes in Canada and the USA (and a few have been exported to other countries).</p>

<p>It hasn’t always been easy for the Mustang. It has had to survive years with 90HP 4 cylinder engine options, lean years where V8 output hovered well below 200HP, a solid rear axle, the Ford Probe threat and of course the Mustang II. But through it all the Mustang thrived and has always been a sales success.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Recently Ford has released archive photos celebrating the life and times of the Mustang. Below is a gallery of Mustangs representing every model year from its long storied life (so far).</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;"><a href="http://theselvedgeyard.wordpress.com/2009/05/11/the-snake-the-stallion-the-carroll-shelby-ford-cobra-that-kicked-ferraris-ass/" target="_blank">Carroll Shelby</a> was undoubtedly the greatest single force behind American auto racing over the last 60+ years.  From his legendary racing career, to reinventing the image of American road-racers in European competitive racing and beyond.  In 1962, and with no official engineering background, Carroll Shelby created the legendary, stallion-slaying <a href="http://theselvedgeyard.wordpress.com/2009/05/11/the-snake-the-stallion-the-carroll-shelby-ford-cobra-that-kicked-ferraris-ass/" target="_blank">Cobra</a>, which soon ended Ferrari’s all-out domination of the World’s Manufacturing Championship.  For him, the recipe was simple and oft repeated&#8211; <em>put a massive engine in a lightweight, nimble car</em>.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">In 1965, the <a href="http://www.conceptcarz.com/vehicle/z1909/Ford-Mustang--GT350.aspx">Shelby Mustang GT350</a> made its production debut setting off  a legendary battle for power and prestige between rival Detroit automakers&#8211; which would from that day on be known as  the <a href="http://www.autoweek.com/article/20090612/carnews/906129990" target="_blank">“Pony War&#8221;</a>.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;"><!--more-->In 1964, <a href="http://www.shelbyautos.com/aboutus.asp" target="_blank">Carroll Shelby</a> was asked by Ford to apply that same winning Cobra recipe into it&#8217;s new Mustang.  Initially created to compete in the SCAA/B production competition just for racing, the 1965 GT350 R Model began its dominance on American racing circuits and making a name for itself by winning the SCCA B production championship in 1965, 1966 and 1967.  Ford wanted to put a version on the street known as the GT350&#8211; essentially a de-tuned and reworked R Model and it catapulted Mustang into the world of high performance.  It became one of the most popular and recognizable brands in the automotive industry.  The <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shelby_Mustang" target="_blank">&#8216;68 Mustang GT</a> will forever be connected with screen and auto legend costar, Steve McQueen, in the classic film <em><a href="http://theselvedgeyard.wordpress.com/2009/09/26/required-viewing-bullitt-the-granddaddy-of-car-chase-scenes/" target="_blank">Bullitt</a></em>.  The performance evolution continued with the famed king of the road, the GT500. For several years production continued, until 1969 when Carroll Shelby and Ford parted company.  Ford evolved the Shelby program into the Boss 302 and Mach 1 Mustangs of the early &#8217;70s.</p>

In February 1968, the GT500KR &#8220;King of the Road&#8221; debuted&#8211; under the hood was the 428 cubic-inch Cobra Jet V8, conservatively rated at 335 horsepower.  Due to an untimely production strike at Ford, some early 1968 GT500&#8217;s had a 390 cubic-inch V8.  Also in 1968, production of Shelby Mustangs switched from Shelby&#8217;s shop in California to A.O. Smith Company in Michigan.</span></span></span></p>

<title><![CDATA[Why?]]></title>

<description><![CDATA[On my usual browsing of the Mustang and Shelby internet forums I came upon a thread that is beyond m]]></description>

<p>A guy on the Shelby forums had a party and his garage was full of the tables and chairs for the party, so he was forced to park his Shelby on the street.</p>
<p>When he woke, he woke to this site.</p>
<p>I moved from Los Angeles a year or so ago. I lived in Hollywood, where there were gang tags a-plenty, hookers, homeless, and just general crazy people.</p>
<p>There were a lot of things I liked about living in Hollywood, and there were a lot of things I didn&#8217;t&#8230; as you probably would find anywhere that you lived.</p>
<p>Tagging was one of the things I really never understood.</p>
<p>Even as a kid I never did anything like this.</p>
<p>I guess I just don&#8217;t understand the whole point of vandalism in general. I mean, what does the vandal get out of it? How is it fun to destroy something&#8230; in this case a car that is beautiful.</p>
<p>People have tried to vandalize the Mona Lisa too&#8230; why? What do these people get out of this? What would possess someone to do this?</p>
<p>Some people would say it&#8217;s envy, or jealousy. I suppose that could be a reason. But I don&#8217;t think that&#8217;s the sole purpose for this kind of act.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s almost as if the vandal is so ugly on the inside that they can&#8217;t stand to see or be around anything that is beautiful. Maybe it pains them to see others who are happy because they are not. Maybe they think, by their vandalism they will somehow drag others down so that the victims will be as miserable as them.</p>
<p>Unfortunately this is not the case. Yes, the victim will have a bad day or maybe a few bad days because he/she will have to fix the damage caused by the vandal. And I&#8217;m sure when this guy walked out to his car the next morning he felt sick and helpless.</p>
<p>But here&#8217;s the thing, and this is to all you vandals out there&#8230;. He can sleep at night knowing he hasn&#8217;t wronged another for absoultely no reason&#8212; you can not. No matter how much you try to convince yourself, you know what you&#8217;ve done is evil and wrong and you have lost yet another part of your soul because of it.</p>
<p>He can fix the damage and he will still have a beautiful Shelby GT500&#8212; You will not. You will never possess something so beautiful because you focus all your energy on destroying others property instead of attaining your own.</p>
<p>So next time you pull out the spray can and decide to go on another of your &#8220;missions&#8221; realize that the only thing you are doing is destroying yourself. Devouring what little soul you have left in each and every spray of that aerosol can.</p>
<p>Maybe that will give you pause. Maybe that will inspire you to try and make something of your life rather than throwing it away. Or maybe you&#8217;ll continue and perhaps go to jail for a small time&#8230;. or maybe, one night&#8230; you&#8217;ll find yourself on the wrong end of a steel barrel and that will be the end of your vandalism career and your life.</p>
<p>Choose wisely.</p>

<p>Of modern day muscle cars, the Shelby GT500 is a lust inspiring paradox of a machine.  You have the brutal supercharged V8 propelling the rear wheels and solid rear axle on the hand.  You have a relatively compact car with an up to date interior and exterior design on the other hand. The exterior being arguably the best Mustang design ever. Throw in a boy racer stripe or two and a gaping front intake and you&#8217;ve got a thrilling ride. That huge upper and lower grill opening really sets the GT500 apart from lesser Mustangs and truly makes the design. It reminds me of Indy race cars and jets of the 50&#8217;s. It also communicates a massive thirst for air for combustion and thrust!</p>
