To celebrate the release of The Ballad of Gay Tony, Rockstar’s second DLC for GTAIV, here we have a video blog following the episode’s smooth talking, nightclub running, pushing-man-off-a-building-er protagonsit Luis Lopez. -Mushroom Wars (R$10,00): Esse jogo de estratégia em tempo real é extremamente divertido, e muito interessante para jogar online! Você tem seu exército de criaturas minúsculas com vozes engraçadas, e sua base é um cogumelo. Seu objetivo para vencer o adversário é ir se apoderando dos outros cogumelos. Para isso você deve atacar os cogumelos inimigos com um número maior de soldados que o do cogumelo adversário. Isso faz com que você tenha que estar o tempo todo atento ao seu número de soldados, manejá-los com astúcia e saber a hora certa de atacar, onde atacar e como atacar. Existem cogumelos especiais que são torres que atiram contra tropas inimigas que passam pelo seu raio de alcance, outros que dão maior poder de ataque aos seus exércitos, e também existe a moral que seu exercito ganha quando seus ataques ou sua defesa é bem sucedida, o que aumenta sua defesa e seu ataque. Exige muita atenção usar tudo isso a seu favor, o que torna o jogo muito gostoso de jogar e divertido. Na PlayStation Store você paga U$9,99, mas como você sabe, na minha mão é mais barato!

-Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (R$50,00): Game original para o PS2 da conhecida franquia GTA, com inúmeras possibilidades de ação ou simplesmente um passeio pela cidade roubando carros, atirando nas pessoas e fazendo a algazarra que você quiser. O jogo é original e foi usado apenas UMA vez. Fiquei sem PS2 dias depois de adquirir o jogo. Está em perfeito estado, e acompanha o encarte, que é de um lado um grande poster do jogo, e do outro o mapa completo do jogo, muito interessante quando você precisa ir rapido para algum lugar. Podemos negociar o valor.

XBOX 360 (porque nós somos democráticos)

-Fable 2 (R$77,00): Jogo original USADO. Bom, como não tenho XBOX 360, devo dizer que não conheço quase nada do game. Tudo que sei é que é um RPG que parece muito interessante pelos videos que já vi. Quem conhece o jogo pode dar uma opinião mais justa nos comentários, por favor.

-Grand Theft Auto IV (R$78,00): Jogo original USADO. Desse eu também não posso falar muito porque não joguei GTA IV. Sinceramente o que vi do game não me agradou, e também nunca fui fanático pela série. Duvido que vocês encontrem um outro vendedor dizendo que não gosta do produto que está vendendo, mas vamos prezar pela honestidade. Game se trata de gosto, e gosto é algo tão pessoal quanto o fiofó. Portanto, quem curte, o jogo está em excelentes condições e o preço então nem se fala!

So what is the club scene like in Liberty City? Well, a little like this:

Rockstar have put together a new trailer for the soon-to-be released GTAIV extension, The Ballad of Gay Tony with some surprising deeds for the ‘main man’ Luis. As part of his routine of making the clubs tick over smoothly, Luis will have to actually rid said establishments of drug dealers and perverts – is this the beginning of a new moral GTA game? No. Luis will also be able to impress a young lady with his moves on the dance floor (replicated by a mini game) with his reward being some lovin’ in the toilets. Ahhh, that’s more like the GTA we know and love! The trailer is cleverly designed to look like a trashy celebrity TV show and reveals even more of what you can expect when The Ballad of Gay Tony is released in a couple of weeks on disc and through Xbox Live.

Yeah, finally getting some progress in GTAIV. I get around 20fps with my crap duo processor but it runs pretty smooth, so hell I guess I can’t complain. I was actually planning to install some of those graphic mods, might try the ‘realistic environments‘ one, from the screenshots it looks damn good. I hope it doesn’t pull my fps down a lot though. Then again, maybe the guy has a quad core or i7…

I love the fact that GTA always has music that can appeal to everyone. Heck I wouldn’t have heard of Ralph Myerz and the Jack Herren Band if i hadn’t played this game.

Anyway I played  again with the storyline missions turned off, just felt like exploring Liberty City (the closest thing I can get to  NYC, since I haven’t been there yet). Being the loser that I am I always tune in to certain radio stations when cruising around. Indie/Rock during the day or during missions, electro/jazz/rnb at night (though it’s hilarious when I escape a 3-star rating driving a wrecked car while listening to jazz).

Heh, I wasn’t that big of a fan of the previous GTA games, but I guess with GTAIV being the most realistic one, I guess it just appealed to me.

Chromeo – I Can’t Tell You Why

Fall is upon us and that means new game releases. October is D-Month for games as they want to make an early splash on the retail shores and coast inland all the way to D+24 (Xmas Eve). This is the gaming industry equivalent of the summer blockbuster season.

And like Hollywood producers, game designers can’t fight the allure of the sequel. If the first game sold 1m+ copies, why no make a second? Or a third?

Examples of upcoming sequels are Halo 3 ODST and Grant Theft Auto IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony.

They represent the latest installments (although technically these are notstraight sequels) of two of the most successful game franchises of the decade.

GTA defined the decade with it’s innovative (although not entirely new) sandbox game design, twisted vision of America and great soundtracks. Halo was (and still is) the Xbox’s flagship game, the game that put the Xbox (and it’s successor the 360) on the map.

No wonder the gamezines and gaming websites are abuzz with talk of Mass Effect 2, Fable 3 and the like. Sequels offer more of what the player wants, good gameplay, improved graphics and more storylines. That certainly is what pushed the success of the GTA sequels (Vice City, San Andreas and the Stories Series). Northstar stayed with what worked and tweaked what could be improved. So did the folks at Bungie with Halo.

However, “more of the same” is not always good. Far too many times sequels feel more like clones that instead of expanding what was already there instead play the same. Core fans of a franchise may not mind, but it certainly won’t attract new gamers. Plus a developer always runs the risk that by not concentrating on new game engines and upcoming graphic/console technology they will get stuck behind the curve. It certainly happened to the folks who made Command and Conquer (although they still spitting them out).

And if you wait too long between installments your fans will move on to different fare. So while sequels are a comfortable strategy, marketing wise, they do have their pitfalls. So expect to see more of them, especially through the magic of downloadable content. Instead of releasing an entire new game, they can release a patch/upgrade/episode online. Has worked well for the folks who made Fallout 3 (itself a spiritual successor to Fallout 1-2 which in turn was a spiritual successor to the old C-64/PC game Wasteland).

So get out your wallets, plop your plastic on the counter and get ready for another sequel.

And better way to usher this season of sequels than with a trailer for Assassins Creed 2:

Well that’s my evening buggered.

It’s the time of year when people are going back to Uni and so on, some friends of mine were going out because some of them are moving relatively far away and won’t see each other again for a while and blah blah blah. I say friends, but I use that term lightly. Anyway, so I said sure, I’ll come for a bit, they planned to stay out all night because they are the type of people who find it fun to sit there drinking for hours and wandering around from place to place, still drinking. Me, not so much. I planned to play some GTAIV with my other friends instead, as that’s more enjoyable for me. Not saying going out drinking is wrong, I have my way, you have your way, neither way is right or wrong. So yeah, I stay there for an hour or two, then say my goodbyes and make my way home, cook up a meal and then go to play some GTAIV with a dozen others, oh look what a surprise I’ve been disconnected and can’t re-join because I’m getting the shitty “Unable to join a game you were kicked from” error, despite not being kicked. It’s a pain in the ass error, which can be normally be fixed by re-hosting, which they didn’t.

I’m not angry or anything, and it’s not like I would’ve rather been out drinking and being a retard either, it’s just frustrating when you think “yeah I’ll do X” and then something happens to stop you. Kind of like when I had planned to get back into COD4 MP and my 360 got the red ring as I was loading a match. That was rage worthy though. This is more a disappointment, perhaps a rather dumb one as I could’ve just done something else, but oh well. It’s childish, it’s like having a red candy and a blue candy, if you want the red candy but can’t get it, you don’t really want the blue one. I wanted to crush people with cars.

Something that does piss me off however, are GTAIV’s ridiculous errors, why bother “blocking” people who have been “kicked” (even when they haven’t been kicked, but got disconnected because of some bullshit error?) For one thing, you can’t actually join a game yourself, you have to be invited. It’s a situation that defies logic, I am host, you are a prick, I kick you, you can only get back in via me inviting you, so why should I be unable to invite you back? That’s more or less the system GTAIV uses. It’s a stupid one which has plagued several of our GTAIV sessions over the past year, and yes, we can re-host but that’s annoying when you’ve set up a game with 6-7 people.

Bah.

A Rockstar lançou hoje um novo trailer de Grand Theft Auto IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony, segunda expansão exclusiva do Xbox 360, nela somos apresentados a Gay Tony, Anthony Prince.

Essa expansão está muito boa galera. E ah na parte do gameplay está de volta o paraquedas.

There was a pretty big post here but I read it through and I didn’t like the looks of things so I took it back behind the shed and introduced him to MY LITTLE FRIEND BATOS THE DOUBLE GOUGING SHOTGUN. Well, that is to say, it was a pretty boring post even by my standards so I just deleted it. I am loathe to start a post and then write nothing though, if that makes sense, probably not.

I completed Point Lookout recently, I somewhat enjoyed it, I rate it above Operation Anchorage but below the Pitt and below Broken Steel. Broken Steel gave me the most new stuff content and by extension playtime, Operation Anchorage was way too short and boring (too much shooting, which is not Fallout’s strong point.) as for the Pitt and Point Lookout, they were about the same length, Point Lookout perhap a bit longer, as for the main quest line, I preferred the Pitt’s moral choice which gave me pause. Pitt also wins on the item front, as there were TONS of new items from the Pitt, one of my favourites being the Metal Blaster (a very nice alternative to the Tri-Beam Cannon which is a bitch to repair.) Point Lookout was pretty fun to explore, and there’s still some stuff left for me to explore, but getting rushed by enemies using those absurdly strong shotguns was a bit annoying as I have fairly low damage resistance and usually rely on distance or my companion, so I ended up dart spamming and stimpak spamming, I could have turned the difficulty down but that’s meh. I could have also gone back to the Wasteland to get some power armour or something, but again, I like my fedora and trenchcoat. As for the new items, the backwater rifle’s okay, but I’ll stick with the trusty repeater which is easier to repair. I liked the new shotgun a lot, however, I replaced the terrible shotgun (funny name, as it’s like the best) with it. Guh, I don’t think I’ll get Mothership Zeta. I don’t really like Energy Weapons that much and it looks like another OA.

MORTAL PAPIS AND MAMIS DEFENDING THEIR OWN REALM IS NOT ABOUT DEATH…BUT LIFE.

I’m still getting the urge to fire up NG2 and slice up some spida la negro ninjas with the dragon sword and what not, but I’ll put it off for now (even if it means I’ll suck when I eventually go back) and well, I started playing some GTAIV again. Multiplayer’s always a good laugh in GTAIV, due in large part to the amazing physics engine. I also tried to pick off a few more achievements earlier today, gah, I really don’t like how the achievements are done in GTAIV. Why should I go and play your shitty darts mini-game, and WHY does it force me to use the TERRIBLE melee system to attempt counters? It’s retarded, I know it’s not that I have “bad” timing or anything like that, my dear, I can violent wind/table hop out of some pretty nasty fucking situations, I can counter a 3 frame Kasumi jab, I can perfect guard projectiles, yes, I have no problem reacting, but when some random guy swings at me, and I perfectly input the counter buttons, and instead just block..you realise! THAT GTAIV HAS TERRIBLE MELEE AND IT SHOULDN’T HAVE ANYTHING REQUIRING YOU TO USE IT. Sheesh..the aiming isn’t amazing, but at least it’s somewhat responsive. Gah, the achievements aren’t just fun to get for the most part, oh, and I really really don’t like when a game just has like 50% multiplayer achievements. For the most part, NG2 did achievements perfectly – you actually achieved something. Whilst I don’t really like that you have to play through the game so many times for all the weapon master achievements, they are aptly named, after a good 5-15 hours using one weapon and learning all the effective combos, you ARE a master of it. DMC4’s achievements are really a pain in the ass, I’ve played it for around 100 hours and only have like half the gamerscore, which is annoying for compulsive people such as myself who like getting 100/100, 100% and so on. I’ve completed all the different difficulty modes, I don’t want to go back and do them again to grind S ranks or grind souls/money/whatever. The absolute WORST achievements are all for me have to be ones like “collect all 200 shining anusbarons” that are in GTAIV, SR2 and stuff like that. I DON’T WANT TO GO LOOKING AROUND THE HUGE CITY FOR 3495734689 DIFFERENT ITEMS, THAT’S NOT FUN.

News about Rockstar North’s next downloadable content has been running around the internet for a while now and as expected a trailer was released showing of our latest Microsoft Points expenditure ‘The Ballad of Gay Tony’. It looks as though parachuting is well and truly back and a bit of funky 80’s to boot. I’m just banking on ‘The Lost and The Damed’ to drop in price so I can finally buy that one…

The trailer for the second GTA IV episode for the Xbox 360 is out today (Sept 1, 2009).  It looks good.  From the trailer it looks like they brought back sky diving.  That was one of my favourite things from GTA: SA. This episode will be out October 29, 2009.  If you are wanted to know the song from the trailer is. It is called  Pjanoo by Eric Prydz.  An awesome song by the way.

One of the best things about video games last year had to be the dog from Fable II. Ok, I may have been a bit generous there considering it was the same year as Metal Gear Solid 4 and GTAIV but still, I loved that furry lil guy! (oh and if you haven’t finished Fable II yet then you may want to look away now). In order to make us feel real connection to the mutt, Lionhead Studios decided made us choose between killing your faithful friend and saving the world or letting him live and letting everyone else die. But worry not, the addition of Knothole Island allowed us to bring the ol’ boy back to life – something that was a result of numerous hate mail and death threats towards studio head, Peter Molyneux (reports GameSetWatch). He commented to Eurogamer just after the Fable II was released about how someone emailed him personally saying [Molyneux] deserved to die [for such a thing] – steady on! The angry chap continued with how he would never buy a game again unless a patch was added to rectify the dog’s death.

On one hand you can’t blame such a reaction as this surely was what Lionhead and Molyneux were after – maybe not the so severe but a strong connection anyway. On the other hand of course, it is only a game…

Rockstar has recently announced the second episode for Grand Theft Auto IV as The Ballad of Gay Tony, which will be available in the Fall of 2009 exclusively for the Xbox 360. The Ballad of Gay Tony is said to differ from the first episode, The Lost and Damned, and offer a peak at the “high-end night life” of Liberty City. The playable character in this episode will be Luis Lopez the assistant to Tony “Gay Tony” Prince, Liberty cities finest nightclub operator. Rockstar sent word that “players will struggle with the competing loyalties of family and friends, and with the uncertainty about who is real and who is fake in a world in which everyone has a price.”

The Ballad of Gay Tony will be priced at 1600 MS points, or $19.99.
