The 2010 MkVI GTI continues to draw accolades. Fresh off its Automobile Magazine 2010 Automobile of the Year award, the latest GTI landed on Car and Driver’s 2010 10Best Cars list. Not that we’re surprised- the penultimate MkV made the list in 2009, 2008, and 2007.

We hate to pile on, but they really are great little cars- sporty, practical, and perfect for these times. With a few bolt-on modifications (things we would do to most cars anyway, like brake, suspension, and tire upgrades), they can be a bona fide track and backroads scalpel. Feel like leaving it alone? They’re still great as is, right out of the box.

GTIs – past and present – have always been Bulgogi favorites (just take a look around this blog), and they only seem to be getting better with time. Sure, we’re biased (given that we own and have owned these cars), but like we’ve said, we still think one would be hard-pressed to find a better German car with four doors at the GTI’s budget-friendly price point.

Golf GTI, trois lettres qui font battrent les cœurs des passionnées, sortie pour la première fois en 1976, une véritable révolution à l’époque, une compacte sportive capable de rivaliser avec les modèles haut de gamme comme les « grosses » BMW et Mercedes.

Avec les années, le confort a pris la relève d’un comportement vif et incisif, mais avec la Golf V, VW à tenter de se rattraper…

Non sans perdre le fil de « l’esprit » GTI, voici la dernière génération avec pas moins de 210ch (soit 100 de plus que la « One » ainsi que 500kg supplémentaire)

Esthétiquement agressive grâce à sa suspension surbaissée de 22mm à l’avant et de 15 mm à l’arrière par rapport à la version standard ainsi que des jantes alu en 18 pouces elle se distingue également par ses pare-chocs, sa calandre, l’intérieur des blocs optiques, les bas de caisses ainsi que le large pare-chocs arrière agrémenté d’un diffuseur et d’une double sortie d’échappement sans oublier l’aileron situé sur le dessus de hayon.

280nm à 1800tr/min à 5200 tr/min (et après ?) , le 0 à 100 en 6,9 secondes et une vitesse maximum de 240 km/h avec une consommation moyenne de 7 litres aux 100 km, du jamais vu !

you can say that whatever car you drive – if you put some bbs on it (especially some lm’s) it really upvalues your ride

in this case a mk5 got “upvalued”

We’ll stop well short of calling it “hot” because, y’know, we’re not crazy.

So what the heck is it? While we’re still not entirely sure, our recon leads us to believe that it’s a Peugeot 309 GTi saloon- a far less famous relative to the beloved 205 GTi. Dare we say it, we see shades of period Alfa in this car, sort of like a homely French cousin to Alfa’s Italian Milano.

Just because your new radio in your 2010 Volkswagen has an option for Bluetooth streaming it doesn’t mean that your car has the necessary hardware to make it work.

Volkswagen uses two systems on their passenger cars option 9W2 and option 9W3. here is the catch 22: option 9W2 supports bluetooth streaming while 9W3 supports voice dialing, phone book transfer (expect on Jetta TDI/SEL) and caller ID.

The ONLY Volkswagen that support A2DP are:

• Jetta S (with optional 9W2)
• Jetta SE
• Jetta Wolfsburg ediiton
• Jetta Sportwagen ( all trim levels and engines)
• Golf (all trim levels and engines)
• GTI

The following models DO NOT SUPPORT A2DP becuase they use option 9W3 but look at the bright side you get voice dialing!:
