<p>I don&#8217;t know if you saw the whole GTS Challenge Event thing, and if you did, you remember how this guy &#8220;Mr. Cooper&#8221; gave Mr. Lutz (GM vice-chairman) a &#8220;<strong>spank</strong>&#8221; using his M3 Sedan where he clocked in a lap 6 seconds faster than Mr. Bob Lutz in his GM-provided 556hp Cadillac CTS-V Super Sedan.</p>
<p>Ok, yes you remember&#8230; Well, this&#8230; thing&#8230; called M3 GTS is like the Mr. Cooper&#8217;s M3 but on steroids; an all-out Track Ready M3, from BMW! (lightweight material, no back seats, front racing seats, low as heck, track tuned suspension, a big wing&#8230;);</p>
<p>Only if all car manufacturers were as nice as BMW with their customers!</p>

My Technical Division will hosting the above seminar on the 21st November. It&#8217;ll be at 9:30 am (makan-makan at 9:00) at Wisma IEM. That&#8217;s right people, as part of the new health drive you are required to walk up 3 flights of stairs to get your 2 CPD points.</p>
<blockquote><p>This presentation outlines the techniques and process for achieving such optimisation by presenting case studies of five Value Improvement Program (VIP) in Petronas operating unit. This covers oil, gas and petrochemical businesses. Improvement opportunities were identified throughout the complexes with the feedstock interface yielding the largest profit gains. The program continues, but to date more than 50 opportunities have been implemented, from which the benefits has exceeded RM 50 million.</p></blockquote>
<p>Lots of interesting monetary figures being bandied about in the blurb. Come and listen, and see if the speaker walks the talk.</p>
<p>The talk will be led by En. M. Taufik bin Mokhtar. En. Taufik obtained his masters degree from Imperial College, London, UK. En Taufik has 9 years of working experience in Petronas. His work experience includes plant operations and project management and provision of technical support services. He has led Value Improvement Program in various PETRONAS operating units and has helped the implementation of the program in five different plants in Kertih and Kuantan areas with success. Currently, En. Taufik is Staff Engineer in Group Technology Solutions, Research and Technology Division of PETRONAS.</p>

Okay well after watching that, I feel like I have to say SOMETHING.  The GTS equates to a modern day version of the CSL.  Why they didn&#8217;t just call it the CSL, I have no idea.  But whatever you call it, it is a beautiful thing to look at.  Oh, and by the way, there is a &#8220;Part 1&#8243; to the GTS videos, but I think it&#8217;s garbage.  If you&#8217;re really curious, you can have a look <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7wh2FixhXs" target="_blank">here</a>.</p>
<p>So what&#8217;s different than the normal run of the mill M3?  &#8220;Consistent lightweight construction&#8221; as they call it, adjustable aerodynamic bits, more pow-pow-pow-power thanks to the 0.4L displacement bump and tweaked suspension technology give it a very Clubsport feel&#8230;for a very clubsport price.  $170,000 USD to be exact.  Yikes.  Personally, I&#8217;d just build my own clubsport version&#8230;mostly because I can&#8217;t afford a GTS&#8230;but also because I do enjoy the modding process all together. Chances are these GTS models will hold their value like the old E36 M3 lightweights if they aren&#8217;t flogged to death too.  Quite a different story with a normal, modded M3.</p>
<p>But if I did have the coin (and I already had a garage full of exotics around the same price), I&#8217;d pop for one.  To be very unscientific about it, it&#8217;s just &#8220;really sweet&#8221;.  I&#8217;ve always wanted a car that came ready to go from the factory&#8230;like a 997 GT3RS or something.  And consistent with those dreams,  this M3 GTS boasts a titanium exhaust, &#8220;extra-light centre console and door linings&#8221; (whatever that means), rear seat/AC/audio system delete, as well as some very frugal sound deadening.  Of course there are more touches that make the car more motorsport-ready, but those are the more noticeable bits that can give you an idea of how serious this car is from the get go.  And boy&#8230;I&#8217;m sure this car GOES.  Okay, I&#8217;m going to watch this video again.</p>

<p>A idéia deste post surgiu justamente porque nessa semana a montadora alemã apresentou conceito BMW M3 GTS, modelo que será feito especialmente para o seu feliz dono levá-lo ao limite em algum circuito nos chamados track-days, idéia muito difundida nos EUA e na Europa. A previsão é de que o modelo estará disponível para à venda a partir do segundo trimestre de 2010.</p>

<p>Assim que você coloca os olhos no olha para as fotos do carro, logo você percebe que o carro tem vocação para as pistas. O carro recebeu um novo defletor dianteiro e um aerofólio traseiro &#8211; ambos ajustáveis &#8211; e iguais aos utilizados pelas BMW em seus carros que competem no WTCC. Recebeu rodas de 19 pol forjadas em alumínio e eliminou os detalhes cromados da carroceria.</p>
<p>Olhando para o seu interior, você poderá conferir os bancos esportivos tipo concha em fibra de carbono, cinto de seis pontos e extintor de incêndio. Além disso, ao invés de você encontrar o banco traseiro para passageiros, você encontrará a estrutura de reforço da carroceria, necessária para a participação de competições.</p>

<p>Como a intenção era produzir um carro de corrida, a BMW fez o que podia para aliviar o peso do carro. Se quiser conforto que compre outro BMW série 3, deve ter pensado os engenheiros da Motorsports, braço que prepara os carros mais ariscos da marca e que emprestam a letra M para o nome deles.</p>
<p>Além dos bancos e do teto (padrão da séria M) de fibra de carbono, o isolamento acústico e o forro das portas são de material mais simples, mas forrados por couro Alcântara, assim como o volante. Não satisfeita pelo depeno, arrancou o sistema de audio e eliminou o ar condicionado automático. E o escapamento foi modificado, sendo fabricado em titânio. Dessa forma, o peso do carro abaixou para 1500kg.</p>

<p>Como não poderia deixar de acontecer, o carro também sofreu modificações mecânicas. O motor V8 que antes era de 4.0, passou para 4.4 litros, fornecendo 450cv, trinta cavalos à mais que a versão de rua. O câmbio é automatizado de dupla embreagem de sete marchas é padrão no GTS, assim como os amortecedores ajustáveis.</p>
<p>Para parar o foguete, a Motorsport equipou o bicho com um sistema de  freios de alto desempenho com pinças de seis pistões na frente e quatro atrás. E para o seu dono desfrutar disso e mostrar que é bom de braço, o sistema de controle de tração do carro é bem menos tolerante, deixando o carro mais arisco.</p>
<p>O valor da criança aí é de € 115 mil, algo equivalente a R$ 294 mil. Vale lembrar que esse valor foi convertido sem impostos, afinal, o valor sugerido de um BMW M3, sem preparação alguma, é de R$ 405 mil no Brasil.</p>

<p>Alright, we&#8217;ve got some fantastic news for you today. BMW has officially announced the M3 GTS track ready model. As you can see by the image, this car is just beast like. I think most can agree that the regular M3 is already an achievement in all areas of automotive performance and styling but the GTS takes all those attributes up to a new level.</p>
<p>So let&#8217;s get to the goodies shall we. First up, weight. This probably one of the major benefits. The GTS has shed 190kg of body fat which brings its weight down to 1490kg. It was basically able to achieve this by putting in some lighter seats and getting rid of all those non nessecary option like insulation, air conditioning, radio. The only 2 things that have actually been added to this car is a roll cage and fire extinguisher. You know, just in case you go so fast, you catch on fire!</p>
<p>On to the numbers! The GTS has also increased the M3&#8217;s V8 engine output to 450hp and that&#8217;s naturally aspirated!  Last but not least, when you pull the switch and open that hood, you&#8217;ll now be staring at a 4.4L engine instead of the standard 4L. Come on, pull your jaw back up now.</p>
<p>When it comes to the exterior the changes are quite noticeable. You are probably drooling over the black 19&#8217;s, the new front spoiler or the black simple wing in the back. Which ever one is one your mind, we agree. They&#8217;re all brilliant.</p>
<p>Final order of business of course is the price tag. Let&#8217;s talk turkey. If you want this wolf in wolf&#8217;s clothing, you&#8217;ll have to shell out around $185,000CAD to have it waiting for you in your garage.</p>
<p>All things considered, the price could be worse!</p>

<p>Após ser flagrado em teste no circuito <em>Nordschleife</em> (<em>Nürburgring</em>), é lançado oficialmente no <strong>SEMA Show</strong> a evolução do esportivo <em>BMW série 3</em> preparado pela divisão <em>M</em>: <strong>BMW M3 GTS 4,4 V8</strong>.</p>
<p>Ele é de uma classe de carros que pode ser homologado tanto para utilização em autódromos quanto para utilização em vias publicas. Possui <em>190 kg</em> a menos e <em>30 cv</em> a mais do que a <em>M3</em> atual.</p>
<p>O que chama mais atenção visualmente neste carro é o aerofólio traseiro, que tem um papel importante a desempenhar em termos de estabilidade, com base do <em>BMW 320si</em> que correu na <em>WTCC</em> (<em>World Touring Car Championship</em>).</p>

É isso que fascina a gente aqui do raceinblood, e espero que fascine você que lê aí também, tem coisa melhor do que um carro que ande pra valer, que seja equilibrado e focado em ser simplesmente rapido? É esse o pensamento que nos guia, e deixando um pouco de lado a base supernobre do carro do post, essa M3 é muito do que eu queria dirigir por aí<!--more-->. A versão GTS veio para ser a opção da marca bávara para os pilotos que sempre levam seus carros a algum evento do tipo track day ou quem sabe um sortudo que mora numa região bem montanhosa e pouco movimentada, e é no meu modo de ver um claro desafio aos Porsche 911 que sempre tem uma versão  GT3 por aí desfilando um carro de pista pelas ruas.</p>
<p><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-555" title="P90053703" src="http://raceinblood.wordpress.com/files/2009/11/2010_bmw_m3gtr1.jpg" alt="P90053703" width="450" height="300" /> O fato é que os caras pegaram um dos carros esportivos mais bem sucedidos da atualidade e trabalharam suspensão (subchassi traseiro fixo, totalmente de pista), colocaram uns amortecedores com regulagens infinitas (deve ter fim, mas haja paciencia!), retrabalharam o sistema de freios para suportar o fading que um uso em pista gera, adotaram rodas de 19 polegadas e tornaram o sistema de controle de tração menos interferente. Eletronico também é o cambio automatizado de 7 marchas. Tudo bem, a gente perdoa. Pra coroar tudo isso, a cilindrada do motor foi elevada de 4.0 para 4.4 e a potencia saiu dos 420 para chegar nos 450 cavalos, com componentes internos mais leves visando subir o giro mais rapidamente, e vale lembrar que o V8 original do carro é um dos motores que mais trabalha bem em alta rotação, fruto do desenvolvimento da equipe de F1 da marca. No exterior, spoiler dianteiro e aerofolio traseiro regulaveis denunciam o carro.</p>
<p><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-556" title="P90053701" src="http://raceinblood.wordpress.com/files/2009/11/2010_bmw_m3gtr5.jpg" alt="P90053701" width="450" height="300" /> Já o interior com santantônio denuncia a redução de peso, mas não foi muito grande: de 1.600 para 1.500 Kg, mas também olha só, toda a forração do carro parece intacta, apenas retiraram o banco traseiro, o sistema de som e o ar condicionado automatizado, sobrou aquele simples de três comandos que tem no Pointer do meu vizinho. Se fosse meu as coisas seriam diferentes&#8230; O detalhe legal é que os cintos de seis pontos não são instalados de fábrica, o dono-piloto que os instala no seu banco concha fixo de fibra de carbono e se quiser retira após a diversão no autodromo, pra ir pro trabalho durante a semana. Outro ponto que eu também mudaria&#8230;</p>
<p>Um carro inspirador sem sombra de duvidas, a BMW está de parabéns pela iniciativa de tornar esse mundo melhor!</p>

<p>En mayo de este año, <strong>BMW</strong> sacaba a la luz una versión del <strong>M3 Coupé </strong>denominada<strong><a href="http://periodismodemotor.com/2009/05/29/bmw-m3-edition-models/"> Edition Models</a></strong>. Un vehículo muy bonito, sin duda, pero a las personas que les gusta este coche desde que saliese la primera generación, querían más, tal vez el sustituto del <strong>M E46 CSL</strong>.<br />

<p>Pues bien, <strong>BMW</strong> ha creado una máquina de competición “adaptada” a la calle. Se trata del <strong>M3 GTS</strong>, un vehículo que monta un propulsor V8 de 4.4 litros capaz de rendir 450 CV, 30 CV más que el V8 4.0 del M3 base. La fuerza del motor se transmite a las ruedas traseras mediante un cambio automático de doble embrague denominado DKG.</p>

<p>Con la supresión de las plazas traseras, el climatizador y el equipo se sonido, el peso del vehículo es menor. Además, con la utilización de materiales ligeros como la fibra de carbono o la sustitución del la luna trasera de cristal por una realizada en Makrolon (plástico duro transparente), se ha conseguido que el peso del <strong>M3 GTS</strong> no pase de los 1.565 kg, 110 kg menos que el <strong>M3 Coupé</strong> con el mismo cambio automático.</p>

<p>Destaca por su aspecto tan radical, tanto exterior como interior. El parachoques delantero lleva una moldura aerodinámica que junto con el alerón de grandes dimensiones montado sobre la tapa del maletero, permiten una mayor carga aerodinámica. Igual que estos dos elementos, las tomas de aire frontales, las laterales, el techo y las llantas de aleación vienen pintadas en negro brillante. Éstas son de mayores dimensiones que las llantas opcionales del M3 de serie, 19 255/35 y 19 285/30 frente a 19 245/35 y 265/35.</p>

<p>El habitáculo presenta notables diferencias respecto al modelo base. A parte de la supresión de las banquetas traseras, las delanteras han sido reemplazadas por unos bacquets de competición con cinturones de seis puntos de anclaje. Lleva barras antivuelco pintadas en el mismo color que la carrocería. Entre éstas y los asientos se sitúa un pequeño extintor similar a los coches del <strong>WTCC</strong>.</p>

O modelo, pintado em laranja, tem visual mais esportivo e motor ainda mais apimentado, com redução de peso. Ele começa a chegar em maio de 2010 no mercado alemão, com 115 mil euros de preço.</p>
<p><!--more-->O novo modelo tem cor laranja, rodas de liga leve de 19 polegadas com desenho exclusivo e pneus 255/35 na frente e 285/30 atrás. Há freios de alto rendimento e suspensão ajustável. Ele é mais leve que o M3 &#8220;comum&#8221;, graças à ausência dos bancos traseiros e a outros elementos. O vidro traseiro é de Makrolon (uma espécie de plástico transparente) e o teto é feito em fibra de carbono descoberta.</p>
<p>O motor é um 4.4 de cerca de 450 cv. A transmissão é da MotorSport, com dupla embreagem e seis velocidades. Não foram divulgados números de desempenho.</p>

<p>That was my first impression when I laid my eyes on this orange beauty. Videos have been circulating the internet lately of the M3 GTS (official name) with rumors spreading faster than a California wildfire. &#8220;Is it the new CSL&#8221;? &#8220;Is it called the GT4&#8243;?</p>

<p>Well it&#8217;s now confirmed. This new machine is said to be approx. 420 pounds lighter than a regular M3. How did they pull it off? The interior has been completely stripped. No rear seats. No radio or navigation system. No electrical seats, just racing buckets. No air conditioning. Just a hardcore track machine. It even comes with a fire extinguisher and an emergency cut-off switch for those hairy track moments. BMW&#8217;s M madmen felt that it could still stand to lose a few so they opted to install a Macrolon rear window instead of the stock glass piece.</p>

<p>Speculation is that power has increased to 450 horsepower from a larger 4.4 liter engine (stock is 420 hp and 4.0 liters). What has been confirmed is that the car will only be available with the 7-speed dual clutch system. No manual gearbox for this bad boy. <title><![CDATA[System for data scraping, analysis and prediction]]></title>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>In this article a system is designed, that collects data from publicly available databases from the internet, performs data analysis using General Systems Theory and applying suitable methods for time series prediction based on the obtained data.</p>
<p>Data collection is made by parsing HTML pages that are transformed to XML using software <a href="http://web-harvest.sourceforge.net">Web-harvest</a>. It uses language XSLT for parsing HTML and extraction in XML. The files in the XML format posses uniform structure. After the files are saved, they are stored in database technology <a href="http://jibx.sourceforge.net">JiBX</a> that allows to manipulate the data in XML as objects.</p>
<p>The systems of variables are decomponed and then connected in order to figure out, how the decomposition approximates the original system. System analysis is performed using standard statistic test, the <img src='http://l.wordpress.com/latex.php?latex=%5Cchi%5E2&#038;bg=ffffff&#038;fg=000000&#038;s=0' alt='\chi^2' title='\chi^2' class='latex' /> test.</p>
<p>Prediction is performed using the methodology of General Systems Theory, another possibility is the method Support Vector Machines (SVM) for time series forecasting, see <a href="#SVM1">[1]</a> ,<a href="#SVR1">[2]</a>. Finally the predicted values are tested using t-test and F-test.</p>

<p>A partir desta segunda-feira (19), a BM&#38;F Bovespa passar a permitir o acesso à plataforma eletrônica de derivativos através do modelo DMA (Acesso Direto ao Mercado) modelo 3.</p>
<p>A terceira modalidade de acesso ao mercado permite ao cliente se conectar diretamente ao GTS (Global Trading System), a plataforma de negociação de contratos derivativos da bolsa. O modelo autorizado pela BM&#38;F Bovespa nesta manhã permite o acesso direto sem passar pela estrutura tecnológica de corretora ou empresa.</p>
<p>De acordo com dados divulgados pela BM&#38;F Bovespa, em setembro as negociações feitas via DMA representaram 12,3% do total de contratos negociados, enquanto na Bovespa chegaram a 56,1%.</p>
<p><strong>DMA na Bovespa</strong><br />
No segmento Bovespa, o acesso direto é realizado pelo DMA modelo 1, no entanto a CVM (Comissão de Valores Mobiliários) já concedeu autorização e até o final de 2009 os outros modelos serão implementados.</p>
