Bit of a “selfie” this week, only the second time ever!

The raw food festival in Berlin on the 24th&25th of March 2012 -Rohvolution- was RAWsome!!! It was fun to see all the fruities and to meet new ones.

It was also great to see my lovely friend Jose who came all the way from California to spend couple of days in Germany.

On the festival I discovered two new kinds of fruit I’ve never (even after 10 years of raw foodism!) tried before:

Guave and sapote amarillo.

Guave looks like a big green apple, is juicy and tastes sweet.

Sapote amarillo has a very intense sweet beautiful taste and an interesting texture,-it’s not juicy at all. Some people say it tastes like cheese cake but I think it tastes amazing and can not be compared with any cakes because it is much richer.

All in all, the festival keeps getting bigger and more popular.

What I love about it, is the atmosphere, the gorgeous fruit and the rawmazing people you meet every second,- woohoooo!

Can’t wait to go to the next one.

Rohvolution 2012 in Berlin

Die Rohkostmesse in Berlin am 24.-25.3.2012-Rohvolution- war wieder mal wunderschön! Es war toll all die fruchtigen Menschen zu treffen und neue kennenzulernen.

Außerdem habe ich mich sehr darüber gefreut, meinen lieben Freund Jose, der aus Kalifornien angereist ist um ein Paar Tage in Deutschland zu verbringen, wieder zu sehen.

Auf der Messe habe ich zwei neue leckere Fruchtsorten entdeckt,- und das nach 10 Jahren Rohkost!

Es waren die Guave und die Sapote amrillo.

Die Guave sieht aus wie ein großer grüner Apfel, ist saftig und schmeckt ziemlich süß.

Sapote amarillo ist eine gelbe Frucht. Manche sagen sie schmeckt wie Käsekuchen. Ich finde sie schmeckt unvergleichlich viel besser als Kuchen,- sie ist viel reicher an Geschmack. Da ich meine Kamera nicht immer dabei hatte, sind in Berlin nicht viele Bilder entstanden. Weniger ist bekannterweise manchmal mehr, deshalb bin ich nicht traurig darüber.

Die Rohvolution wächst und gedeiht und wird immer größer und beliebter.

Die Atmosphäre, die schönen Früchte und die fRohköstler, die man dort trifft, gefallen mir am meisten.

Die nächste Rohvolution findet in Freiburg statt,- woohoooo!

Die Heimat der Guave ist das südliche Amerika, wo sie bei tropischer Wärme an immergrünen Bäumen zu ihrer vollen Reife heranwächst. Schonmal von einer Kelchzipfelkrone gehört? Und wie schmeckt eigentlich eine Guave? Hier eine kurze Zusammenfassung der gängigen Beschreibungen:

süß-säuerlich
aromatisch
erinnert an eine ausgefallene Kombination von Quitte, Birne und Feige
erdbeerähnlich

Ihr Vitamin-C-Gehalt zählt zu den höchsten aller Früchte.

Unser Favoritenprodukt aus der Guave ist der Guaven Gelee oder auch Gelia de Goiaba direkt aus Brasilien. Eine Bereicherung jeden Frühstücks.
