Slash lahir di Hampstead, pinggiran kota London. Ayah Slash berasal dari Inggris, sedangkan ibunya keturununan Amerika-Afrika. Ibu Slash, Ola Hudsons, adalah seorang perancang pakaian yang bekerja untuk David Bowie, dan bapaknya adalah seorang seniman yang menyumbang ansambel hidup bagi musisi terkenal termasuk Neil Young dan Joni Mitchell. Slash dbesarkan di kota Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, sampai ia berumur 11 tahun, saat orang-tuanya memindahkan keluarganya ke Los Angeles, California di pertengahan tahun 1970. Tetapi kemudian orang tua Slash berpisah, dan setelah itu, Slash tinggal bersama ibunya dan David Geffen. Dia diberikan nama panggilan “Slash” oleh teman keluarganya, [[Seymour Cassel]. Saat berumur 16, sebelum ia dikeluarkan dari sekolah Crespi Carmelite, Slash diberikan gitar pertamanya oleh neneknya. Gitar itu hanya mempunyai 1 helai tali (string). Dia menghabiskan setiap harinya untuk berlatih. Akhirnya, fokus seluruhnya dipertaruhkan atas musik dan dia membuat keputusan untuk berhenti sekolah. Di artikel majalah Rolling Stone, katanya:
“ My big awakening happened when I was fourteen. I’d been trying to get into this older girl’s pants for a while, and she finally let me come over to her house. We hung out, smoked some pot and listened to Aerosmith’s Rocks. It hit me like a fucking ton of bricks . I sat there listening to it over and over, and totally blew off this girl. I remember riding my bike back to my grandma’s house knowing that my life had changed. Now I identified with something. ”

(Kebangkitan besar saya terjadi ketika saya berumur empat belas tahun. Saya sudah mencoba memasuki celana gadis ini yang lebih tua untuk sesaat, dan dia akhirnya membiarkan saya datang ke rumahnya. Kami berkeluyuran, menghisap beberapa batang dan mendengarkan lagu Aerosmith, Rocks. Itu memukul saya seperti tertimpa satu ton bata. Disamping Aerosmith, pengaruh awal Slash termasuk AC/DC, Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Iron Maiden, Rory Gallagher, Jimi Hendrix, David Bowie, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Rolling Stone, Thin Lizzy, Van Halen dan Festival of Weeks. Pada tahun 1983, setelah gagal bergabung dengan Poison bersama teman masa kecilnya, Steven Adler, mereka bersama membentuk Road Crew. Slash menempatkan iklan di sehelai koran untuk bassis, dan setelah itu ia menerima jawaban dari Duff McKagan. Ketika Road Crew bubar, Slash bergabung dengan band lokal, Black Sheep. Diketuai oleh Willie Bass, band ini kemudian saling berbagi seorang agen dengan band lainnya, yang dikenal sebagai Hollywod Rose. Pada 1984, kedua band tersebut membuka untuk band Christian Metal Stryper. Setelah pertunjukan tersebut, Slash dan lead singer Axl Rose diperkenalkan kepada satu sama lain oleh seorang teman. Keduanya dengan cepat menjadi teman, dan setelah beberapa bulan, Slash dan Steven Adler diundang bergabung dengan Axl Rose, Duff McKagan dan Izzy Stradlin sebagai personel band, Guns N Roses

Today I’m going to recommmend Appetite for destruction by Guns n Roses. This a great album that was produced from a period that put a bad taste in the mouths of hard rock fans.(That would be Hair Metal) This can serve a bridge between metal an mainstream rock. This album has a great mix of songs for the hard rock fan and the top 40 fan. Slash’s guitar is amazing and he creates some of the best riffs in Rock history. The solos are that bad either(Amazing, yet not as soulful as future Slash material). This is a must have album, and its great to listen to in the car with the windows down.

On a chance to bring a little more normalcy to my life, I’m going back to posting on a subject that I love to talk about:  music.  So, what’s tonight’s topic I hear you ask?  Is it some random band?  Could it be a new type of instrument that’s been discovered?  Could it be Satan?  (Wait, that’s a whole other blog post.)

Today, I would like to talk about your angry song.  What’s an angry song, you ask?  Don’t act like you don’t know it in your heart of hearts.  It’s your go to song when your made at someone or the world.  For different people it, it’s different things.  It could be various genres, instruments, etc.  In the end, it is the musical representation of your fury.

My, I have a couple of “angry songs”, but my every time song is from the genre of Emo.  Specifically, the song is I’m Not Okay by My Chemical Romance.  That’s right, I said it.  The song rocks, and when I’m angry that’s my anthem.  There something about it, perhaps its the emotional lyrics, the lyrical melodies, the driving guitar parts, I just love it.  I’ve also included the video to watch as well.  Check it out, it’s just as good as the song.

However, my angry music does not stop just there.  Recently, I equiped my wife’s iPod with an Pissed Off music list.  (This blog and its writer to do not expressly support Apple or iPods, but for the right deal I would.  That and it’s a superior product.)  For the purposes of the post, Pissed Off Music and Angry Song are interchangeable.

This is an article I wrote 1 year ago for an Assignment I had at Uni. Hope you’ll enjoy! I’ll post it divided into differents pieces.

Part One

Homosexuality freedom…a target to reach!

We all know that from very long times, the homosexual organizations are fighting to get equal consideration and rights for gay and lesbians, in many ways, Music is  one of these. 80’s music, and band names could be seen as an action of sexual liberation. The lines you are going to read could sound a little bit offensive or dirty, but you will see that all the listed names and things are just here to state my point of view.
So, if we look  back on the music scene of the 1980s, one thing sticks out – Heavy Metal. Not just the real traditional heavy metal, but metal of the hair band variety. And the major observation that we could come up with about the heavy metal scene in the 80s is that the whole thing was gay or at least that’s what it seems. I’m not really saying that all of the 80’s heavy metal people are gay, but they were definitely putting up a homosexual front (probably to sell more records). And I’m not talking about openly gay heavy metal guys like Rob Halford of Judas Priest; as I’m  not saying that there’s anything wrong with being gay, just that hair metal is a sorte of homosexual scream of liberation…as to say “We are here, and we worth the same as you!”
. Let’s take a look at the evidence:

The Band Names: This could seems strange , but if we read carefully the names of the bands, and we work with a little bit of fantasy  we may see that metal band names seem to be rife with phallic imagery, whether it be snakes (Whitesnake), insects with their penetrating stingers (Scorpions, WASP), guns and phallic-shaped bullets (Shotgun Messiah, Guns ‘n’ Roses, L.A. Guns, Bullet Boys) or just out-and-out penis slang (Tool, Motorhead, Prong, Helmet, Mr. Big, Mother Love Bone and the worst example, Deep Purple). There are bands that are named after girls (Lizzy Borden, Thin Lizzy, Cinderella, Britny Fox, Alice Cooper, Alice In Chains) or have other feminine twists (Twisted Sister, Guns N Roses, Queensryche, Iron Maiden). There are also references to a specific kind of lifestyle that the common imagination think to be possessed by gays, such as sex (Sodom, Motorhead, Diamond Head, WASP – “we all s**k p***s”- I prefer not to write the entire name to be respectful-), animosity toward women (Slayer -  that can be read as “slay-her”), and homosexual pride (Rainbow, the name given to their representative flag).

The Band Member’s Names: The band members themselves often have names that sound a bit feminine (Lars Ulrich, Sebastian Bach, Kip Winger), sound like “different” movie stars (Axl Rose, Vince Neil) or are actually women’s names (Jani Lane, Vivian Campbell, Dee Snider, Rikki Rocket, Nikki Sixx, Tracii Guns).

Secondo quanto riportato dal sito del gruppo Guns N’ Roses dovremmo aspettarci un nuovo album. La band D Axl Rose starebbe infatti negoziando, attraverso il nuovo management, la pubblicazione del nuovo disco intitolato “Chinese Democracy” in lavorazione oramai da diversi anni.
Intanto si riaffaccia nel panorama musicale anche una delle band più discusse e seguite D sempre: dopo 8 anni D silenzio tornano i Re del rock: gli Ac/Dc. La band D Angus Young e Brian Johnson farà uscire il nuovo disco ( Dirty Rhythm, lavorato con il produttore D Bruce Springsteen, O’Brien ) entro fine anno.

Hobi,…. itu selain asik juga ternyata dapat ngilangin stres, karena kerja, karena harga cabe yg naik mulu (dan gak heran kl di Indonesia pada naik semua, kecuali ada satu yg selalu turun dan g bisa naik, apa lagi kl bukan turun bero).

Dengan menyalurkan hobi, selain tambah fresh, juga tambah temen. Kalo aku sendiri kl nurutin hobi, mungkin waktu bisa abis, ya futsal, browsing, chatting, hehehe kapan kerja neeeee.

Pourquoi les écouter?

1. J‘ai le chic pour avoir des amis super sympa. Entre eux, nous avons Laure soit la championne des remix super-cool. Présentation faite, passons aux choses sérieuses. Je me suis replongée dans les Crystal Castels , c’est-à-dire, une bonne orgie de bruit Snes à tout va. Pour décrire leur musique, je dirais : Ensemble absurde et incohérent qui résulte par un chaos étrangement agréable. Ce remix, c’est exactement la même chose. Il est vrai que Leni est une sublime chanson, la remixé peut donner facilement quelque chose de bon, ou en tout cas, correct ; mais là où Crystal Castels surpassent tous les autres “DJ” c’est qu’ils arrivent par une manière aussi étrange que leur musique à imposer leur style et faire de Leni un véritable chef d’oeuvre. C’est surement un peu exagéré, mais pour l’avoir écouté suffisamment longtemps, c’est le seul mot qui puisse qualifier ce remix. Voilà que Crystal Castels rejoins Metronomy et Breakbot dans mon palmarès des meilleurs remixeurs…affaire à suivre.
2. Nous avions déjà entendu les Taken By Trees avec Taken Too Young brillamment remixé par The Tough Alliance. Personnellement, je n’avais pas réellement fait attention à ces deux groupes jusqu’ici. C’est alors que je tombe, par hasard, sur cette reprise de Gun N’ Roses. Le résultat est assez épatant, je dois dire. Sweet Child O’Mine, un monument du Rock, reprise par cette douce voix pourrait bien surpasser l’original. Une véritable reprise comme on les aime. Je crois que je vais vraiment m’intéresser à ces suédois.(oui, je sais ; ils sont partout)
3. Envoyé généreusement par Charlotte. Je ne devrais même pas la poster vu qu’elle voulait la poster sur son blog. Je m’excuse, je ne voulais pas mais c’est si bon.
4. Je la voyais trainée depuis un certain temps sur des playlist, sans jamais vraiment l’écouter. Mon erreur est réparée grâce à La Reine. C’est suant et cocasse, j’aime.
5. Comme l’indique leur nom les Boys Noize sont bruyants, il n’y a qu’à écouter &down pour comprendre tout de suite ce qu’il en est. Sur ce coup là, j’avoue être plutôt surprise. Bon, c’est toujours aussi bruyant mais tout ce vacarme est maitrisé à la perfection et tenue par la sublime voix de Feist ainsi que le majestueux “My Moon My Man” qui résonne à mes oreilles tel un “Robot Rock“. C’est du lourd.
6. Encore une trouvaille de la championne des remix super-cool. Midnight Juggernauts donne, ici, un coup de pousse aux Dragonette qui patine légèrement sur I Get Around à mon gout. C’est bruyant mais efficace. “I say Ye-Ye-Yes...”
7. Je suis une fan secrète des Kings Of Convenience. Leur séparation ne m’a pas plus touché que ça, je l’admet mais tout de même. En ce qui concerne cette reprise, c’est comme tout ce qu’ils font, c’est-à-dire, Beau. La petite surprise c’est les chœurs. J’adore. Je suis comme une enfantde 4ans dans un Toys’R'Us.
8. Comme surement la moitié de la population française, je regarde la Nouvelle Star. Je vous passe le moment où je dis que j’ai honte tout en justifiant par d’habiles métaphores que ce n’est pas si mal que ça. Parmi, les quelques candidats retenus quelques uns ont retenu mon attention, dont un jeune homme nommé Thomas qui a interprété brillamment Seven Nation Army aux auditions de Paris. Charlotte (encore une amie super-cool) m’a dégoté le myspace de son groupe : The Sleepwalkers. On peut d’ailleurs y trouvé une très sympa reprise de Light My Fire. Là aussi, nous avons à faire à une véritable reprise : un swing sympa, une jolie voix (qui me fait un peu penser à celle des Spoon), une véritable volonté de différer de l’original, une affirmation du style…et j’en passe. Bref! Une interprétation pas mauvaise du tout.
9. Je pense que tout le monde a connu Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. par leur très sympathique reprise de D.A.N.C.E (moi de même!) .Ainsi, en cherchant un peu on trouve ce genre de chanson. Le début m’énerve profondément, une pulsion me pousse à appuyer la touche supr., ce qui abrégerait mes souffrances. Mais mine de rien, le refrain vient et paf! Tous nos soucis s’évanouissent ; on en retrouverait presque un petit air de montage. Un détente modéré et pleine d’émotions. Un joli duo. Une jolie mélodie. C’est tout simplement Joli.
10. Je retrouve mes bons amis les Datarock dans un inédit tiré du single See What I Care. Comme d’habitude, c’est largement influencé par la triade Talking Heads – DEVO – Happy Mondays , on aime ou on aime pas. Personnellement, je trouve ça toujours aussi bon.
