Ginger: I suddenly have a newfound respect for Tress MacNeille and Rob Paulsen and Mel Blanc and –

Ruby: Whoa, whoa, whoa, I only recognized one of those names.

Ginger: And John Ratzenberger and Mark Hamill…

Ruby: You’re going to have to give me more than that.

Ginger: And Burnie Burns and Joel Heyman and Gus Sorola and Matt Hullum…

Ruby: Voice actors?

Ginger: Voice actors.

Ruby: Why couldn’t you just say ‘voice actors’ in the first place?

Ginger: Because then you would have asked me if I KNEW of any voice actors.

Ruby: Well obviously you do. You were just showing off.

Ginger: Um. Yeah.

Ruby: So why the sudden support for the faceless famous?

Ginger: Have you ever tried to record your voice so that others will hear it by choice?

Ruby: It’s called voicemail outgoing message, Ginger. You should try it one of these days.

Ginger: I have an outgoing message.

Ruby: Yeah, it’s not that helpful.

Ginger: I will have you know I receive all sorts of compliments on it.

Ruby: Whatever. Why were you recording something?

Ginger: I was selected to be the voice of my department on the website.

Ruby: Oh, that’s right! So…how many times did you have to re-record?

Ginger: Oh, you know, nothing too bad…just…six or eight…teen…times.

Ruby: Eighteen times?

Ginger: There was a funny tickle in my throat.

Ruby: Eighteen times?

Ginger: It’s not that bad. I mean, really. Don’t you think Rob Paulsen flubbed it a few times while recording the countries of the world song?

Ruby: That was Rob Paulsen?

Ginger: Yeah. He’s my hero.

Ruby: Still…all you had to say was “Welcome to DynaCorps,” right? Not “United States, Canada, Mexico, Panama?”

Ginger: It was “Welcome to DynaCorps, take a look around. Let us know if you have any questions by clicking on the envelope icon in the corner.” It turns out ‘envelope icon’ is harder to say than we thought.

Ruby: Well, it sounded fine just now when you said it.

Ginger: That’s because I have already said it eighteen times.

Ruby: True.

Ginger: But I have a newfound respect for voice actors. The pressure of a microphone is incredible!

Ruby: So, have you listened to it yet?

Ginger: Yeah.

Ruby: And?

Ginger: I still think I could have done better on ‘envelope icon.’

Ruby: How were you mispronouncing it?

Ginger: It sounds like the missing Transformer… Envelopicon! Transforms from a plain white business envelope into an enraged postal worker-bot!

Ruby: …No more cartoons for you.

The series begins humbly, starting out with an hilarious, fun little plot, interesting characters, and enough story progression to keep you interested. Soon, plot lines unfold into a well-spun yarn of Halo-inspired quirkiness. But right about when you think you know what’s going on, RvB takes a sudden left turn into Inception-meets-Lost-meets-Advent Children, and becomes one of the funniest yet bad-ass mind bends I’ve ever witnessed — be it movies, games, or television — not to mention internet video clips inspired by a popular videogame.

There are some moments that even genuinely moved me, in between fits of laughter, or clutching my skull to keep it from blowing up. The final line of season 6 will send chills down your spine, and the finales for season 8 and 9 will touch you (bow chicka wa wa).

There’re some weak moments, sure, (season 3 drags a bit) but once the mysteries start cropping up, RvB invades your mind, and will drive you insane with wanting to know the truth behind the Freelancer Project, and the ultimate fate of the Reds and Blues.

Right now, I’m starting season 10, and have yet to be let down by this series. I was always a fan of Acheivement Hunter and the Rooster Teeth podcast, but now I have a new-found respect for Burnie Burns, Gus Sorola, Matt Hullum, Geoff Ramsey, Joel Hayman, and the rest of the RT crew as writers, actors, comedians, animators, and story tellers. This is truly some of the best content on the internet.

Gustavo Sorola voices Private Dick Simmons on Red vs Blue.

This past Saturday we had the opportunity to sit down (read: stand up) with Gustavo (Gus) Sorola who is best known from the popular web series Red vs Blue. In addition to his duties playing Private Dick Simmons, Gus is also the Director of RTX; which is a convention filled with awesomeness that you must visit next year! Seriously, buy your tickets now! I don’t care if they’re not for sale yet; Gus wants to hit 8k attendees and we’re going to make it happen.

For the record, Gus might be known as reclusive, but that doesn’t mean he is not incredibly friendly. We had a great time chatting with him and hope to have many opportunities for further chatting in the future.

Not only that, I dreamt that I was seeing Rooster Teeth’s Gus Sorola’s dreams. These included him watching a child destroy the house of a midget that lived in a small countryside shack, before being trapped within a box made entirely of sky, as well as one where he perfected the art of destroying Weetabix using a needle.

I also dreamt that I walked around a shopping centre with Tony Blair, helping him clean up after a particularly messy political campaign by a rival, cult party.

I swear I’m not on anything… and I’m suprised my dream came back to me so vividly.
