Det virker som om det fins et par naturlover når det kommer til tiltrekning mellom gutter og jenter, og hvilke typer man faller for. Det er ofte jeg har lurt på dette, og til og med enda mer i det siste; nemlig:

Hvorfor faller alle de snille guttene for slemme, slitsomme, trengende, teite jenter?

Hva er det som gjør at en så åpenbar mismatch fungerer og hva er det som tiltrekker guttene? Hvorfor kan de ikke heller falle for de snille jentene? Og hvorfor faller de snille jentene for manipulerende, kontrollerende gutter?

Dette er noe jeg har spurt meg selv om mange ganger.
Jeg har en del kompiser som har vært umulige å treffe etter at de har fått kjærester. Kjærestene nekter dem å være ute blant folk, eller tvinger dem til å gjøre kjedelige ting sammen med dem. Det er noe jeg bare ikke skjønner.

Hvis jeg hadde vært i et forhold – ikke at jeg har så mye erfaring å skryte av på det området – men altså hvis, så ser jeg for meg at det å kunne beholde sitt gamle liv og kunne være selvstendig er et kriterium for å kunne fungere sammen. Man må jo respektere at kjæresten hadde et liv før han traff deg.
Men åpenbart er det mange gutter som trives med å ha kjærester som dikterer livene deres. Hva er det som ligger under her? Hadde alle disse dominerende mødre som alltid fortalte dem hva de skulle gjøre? Syns de livet er for vanskelig å finne ut av, slik at det å ha noen som alltid planlegger og bestemmer for de er avslappende? Tenner de på å bli herset med?

Jeg skjønner det virkelig ikke. Teorien min så langt, er at alt dette har noe med foreldre og barndom å gjøre. Det er en freudiansk tankegang, og jeg hater å innrømme det, for jeg kan ikke avsky Freud på veldig mange punkt, men det virker som om det er det eneste som gir mening. I barndommen ble jo hele fundamentet for det videre livet lagt. Så gutter som hadde tryggheten i en mor som bestemte alt for de, vil vel da gjerne trekke mot de jentene som overtar morens rolle. Og de jentene som hadde dominerende, strenge, slappe eller voldelige fedre vil oppsøke de guttene som er dårligst for de.

Og jeg? Jeg som hadde en streng mor og en snill pappa, og som tidlig bestemte meg for å stå på egne bein, finner ut at jeg ikke passer i noen av kategoriene. Jeg vil vel alltid tiltrekkes av de som selv liker å stå på egne bein, som liker de som er snille, og som er snill selv. Skjønt jeg begynner å tvile på om disse eksisterer.

To me, SMOOTHIES are the most basic thing anyone who wants to eat more raw fruits, seeds, and vegetables (especially GREENS) can do.  Check out my Naked Smoothies page for dessert level raw “shakes” that are a great way for someone to transition over to raw…

Sadly, I do not own one.  I am a broke ass right now and am making due with an eager but under powered (gasp) blender.  The blender and I have an abusive relationship, but we manage.

If you’ve got the money, do not pass go before buying yourself the Cadillac of “blenders”; which also acts as a juicer, dry flour grinder, nut butterer, and even ice cream maker!

I am very familiar with the Vitamix because I use them all the time.  Where?  EVERY bar/restaurant I’ve ever worked in has one.  The main reason being they can crush ice better than a gristle ice trucker, and they are REALLY REALLY reliable.  So, a Vitamix is an investment level appliance we’re talking about here people!

I start my day with a nice stiff (get your naughty minds out of the gutter…) green drink.  Here’s my favorite one right now…

“I am what I am” morning drink

Did you know canned spinach looks like that?

• Juice 2 sweet grapefruits by hand (I also don’t own a juicer).
• Pretty much fill the blender up with spinach.
• Blend.
• Drink down the crazy.

Now if I had a Vitamix, I’d probably juice one of the grapefruits, and put the other one in peeled.  The Vitamix can pulverize whole fruit (and the seeds) down to “juice.”  That has a bunch of advantages..

1. It’s WAY easier than juicing (which is a chore and a half).
2. Less waste (why throw the grapefruits fleshy wonders in the compost?)
3. More fiber…especially important for people with insulin issues.

Also, my blender can handle spinach, but it hates kale, beets and other hard core veggies.  The Vitamix and a good recipe can turn those ruffians into something you’ll actually WANT to drink.  When you start buying mostly raw food this is a huge advantage because a lot of the stuff you buy (beets/carrots/etc.) have greens ATTACHED to them.  They are like BONUS greens IF you have a way to make them appetizing…

Wow! You all need to stop looking at so much porn!  I’m talking about my Spiralizer…

What’s a spiralizer?  It’s this little magic slicer dicer that turns zucchini and other unmentionables into PASTA!  I love this tool.  Think about it…once you have the canvas (zucchini noodles)…you are ready to enter into a realm of Bohemian enticements (raw sauces!).

And unlike Vitamix’s and Excalibur Food Dehydrators this little spiralizer is cheap!  Top the veggie noodles with my “meaty sauce” or some fresh walnut pesto and you are asking for savory overload.

Ignore the bread

• soak 12 sun dried tomatoes (real ones-not from a jar or in oil) and10 sun dried olives in hot tap water (set aside)
• roughly dice up 1 large fresh tomato, 1 large red pepper, 1 stalk of celery, and 1 clove of garlic.
• Put all the diced items in a blender/processor/or Vitamix
• Add a tbs or some really good cold-processed olive oil, a small handful of fresh basil leaves, and sea salt IF the tomatoes or olives aren’t salted already.
• Blend just until mixed.
• Now…drain the warm water from the sun dried ingredients and add them to the blender.

• Blend to the consistency you like.  This last step is going to make the sauce really rich and “meaty.”  The sauce is also going to be nice and WARM–a real treat for people who eat 100% raw!
• Pour or Ladel over your awesome zucchini noodles!
• Top with Rawmesan to get really old school!

Just spent nearly an hour reading through all 89 pages of questions for the drivers  knowledge test. It. Was. So. Very. Extremely. TEDIOUS. D= Why are there so many questions asking the same thing?! Well, according to Kate, the hardest thing to pass is the photo. =P I’ll look out for it.

Anyway, spent my day helping dad make gutter protectors to stop leaves clogging it. The whole afternoon and evening was used to cut up pieces of metally-meshy stuff. Fun. I’ll end up with sore sore arm-muscles (biceps) tomorrow too. -_- But at least it’s finished now.

Tomorrow, heading off to Burwood for drivers lisence test then off to shopping since ortho appointment isn’t till much later. Ok. Off to sleep now.

Parallels, let me tell you about parallels. From my perspective, and a good perspective it is too, there ain’t no such darn thing as parallels…’cept maybe between you and an idiot that is. All I can see is divergence, and a powerful divergence at that…is that a street sweeper I hear there boy !

General contractors usually prefer building fancy things on a hill, or tearing things out, and updating an outdated look. A local contractor is focusing on getting the jobs that aren’t so traditional. One of those jobs are the cleaning of gutters and downspouts on houses and apartments.

Gutter cleaning is not a glamourous job. But right now is the prefect time to get those gutters cleaned out. The leaves are falling and settle in the gutters, waiting for clog the downspouts. This, of course, will create a wall of water to cascade over the edge come the first big rain. often times rain running over the top causes other water related problems. This may include: water into the window, under the door, and down the walls and into the building. But this can be avoided by clearing the gutters and downspouts before that first big rain.

I dag har verdens beste mann og pappa bursdag.

Jeg er nok ikke den beste til å fortelle deg det hele tiden, men du er verdens beste mann og pappa for Bølla. Du stiller opp og er der for oss uansett hva. Om du er super sliten etter jobben har du alltid en kommentar på lur til meg og litt ork igjen til å leke med Bølla før han skal legge seg.

Jeg får helt tårer i øynene når jeg ser dere leker eller koser dere sammen. Er så godt å se det båndet dere har sammen, og den kjærligheten som stråler mot hverandre når dere sees   Dere er virkelig det beste som noen gang har hendt meg.

Og i dag har begge guttene mine bursdag, en blir 24 år og en blir 10 mnd.

Elsker dere over alt <3

Selv om vi har et veldig egalitært skolesystem, som i lang tid har gått under benevnelsen ”enhetsskolen”, så er det et faktum at norsk skole øker eller befester sosiale forskjeller i folket. Barn i familier med økonomisk frihet og akademisk ballast, har stor sannsynlighet for å klare seg bra på skolen. Tilhører eleven en familie hvor foreldrene ikke har særlig god egen erfaring med skolen eller begrensede akademiske ressurser, er sannsynligheten for at eleven vil slite mye større. Er eleven en gutt i tillegg, så er utsiktene dårlige. En nylig publisert undersøkelse sier at fattige gutter fra hjem uten akademisk ballast, er de som har desidert svakest læringsutbytte¹.

Årsaken til dette er sammensatt. Jeg skal nedenfor ta for meg noen viktige momenter.

Leksene blir ikke fulgt opp

Norske lærere er blant dem som gir mest lekser av alle². Men, hva er poenget med lekser når de ikke blir fulgt opp på skolen? Nyere undersøkelser viser at 60 % av lærerne ikke engang sjekker om leksene er gjort. Under 15% av de samme lærerne retter og gir eleven tilbakemelding på utført arbeid. Og hvem har fordel av dette? Jo, selvsagt de elevene som har foreldre som har knekt skolekoden og som bruker mye tid sammen med eleven. Om de ikke akkurat leksehjelper, så vet de i alle fall viktigheten av arbeidet og er positiv bidragsyter for at ting blir gjort.

Taperne er elever som i utgangspunktet sliter på skolen og som ikke har foreldre som følger opp.

Jeg er i utgangspunktet ikke motstander av at elevene har lekser. Lekser er også trening i selvstendig arbeid og kan være en fin måte for foreldrene å følge barnas læringsutvikling. Men, jeg vil gå så langt som å si at slik det fungerer i dag er riv ruskende galt. Den enkle konklusjonen er jo da enten å kutte ut leksene eller at de skal gjøres på skolen i en leksehjelpsituasjon. Det har jeg ikke tro på. Da vil avstanden mellom skolen og hjemmet øke og vi som foreldre vil miste mye av det innblikk vi har i skoleutviklingen for barna.

Tilpasset samarbeid med hjemmene

Leksene bør bli et instrument i det tilpassede samarbeidet med hjemmet. Gjennom oppfølging, retting og tilbakemelding på leksene kan elevoppfølgingen bedre tilpasses den enkelte families utgangspunkt. Tilpasset samarbeid med hjemmet er svaret på mange av utfordringene vi har i skolen i dag³. Økt læringstrykk, kjønnsforskjeller, uro og ikke minst kompensasjon og tilpasning etter ulik oppfølging fra foreldrene.

Det kan være at lærerne bør begynne å gi mindre lekser, slik at de er i stand til å følge disse bedre opp. Slik oppfølging er i tillegg viktig for elevens motivasjon for leksene. Men, kanskje aller viktigst er det at skolen først da kan ta tak i og løfte de elevene som ikke har tilstrekkelig utbytte av leksene. Elevene begynner nemlig ikke svake på skolen, de blir svake. Det er et tankekort som jeg mener er hovedargumentet for tilpasset samarbeid med tilhørende oppfølging av lekser og foreldre.

I dag var vi(klassen) på hospitering på Maren Handler og Mauritz Hansen for å ta litt del i de forskjellige linjenes hverdag. Det var egentlig ganske kult. Jeg gikk på restaurant- og matfag og der hadde vi bare praktisk. Oh yes! Jeg digger praktiske fag. Vi dekket bord, laget forrett, hovedrett, dessert og bakte pepperkaker, og så spiste vi alt dette. Verdens beste skoledag, med andre ord

Nuvel, det er vel ikke akkurat dette jeg hadde planer om å skrive om, men jeg er på vei til temaet.

Mens hovedretten ble servert og  vi en etter en fikk maten plassert forran oss, hører jeg ei jente (elev på restaurant- og matfag, første året) si “se på de da, tør ikke spise en gang. De er redde”. Ja, selvfølgelig. Jeg synes du er kjempe stor og skummel. For de som kjenner meg godt, så vil dere nok tenke at jeg sa noe tilbake, og da har dere helt rett. Så klart; som gjest der, så slang jeg ikke med leppa, men sa rett som det var “nei, vi er aldeles ikke redde, men å vente med å spise til alle har satt seg er en vane hvertfall jeg har lagt på meg. Det kalles høflighet”. Hun ble litt sur og sa litt furten at man kunne likevel bare starte med å spise, og da avsluttet jeg med “ja, det kan jeg nok, men jeg venter jeg (:” (Legg merke til smilefjeset der; jeg smilte for å ikke få henne mer furten)

Hva er det med eldre gutter og jenter som tror at vi yngre frykter dem? Jeg er aldeles ikke redd for aldersforskjell. Jeg er heller ikke redd for store føtter og neser. Face it – dere er ikke så skumle. Og bare sånn at dere vet det… Jeg er sikker på at når dere er sammen med vennene deres, så snakker dere om ting som er like uvesentlig og teit som hva de som er yngre enn dere kan snakke om. I dag i byen f.eks., så hørte jeg ei jente (to år eldre enn meg) si til sin venninne “…og neglelakk trenger man jo fordi det er så lite, og gjør så mye med folk”. Jeg ser selv at det virker en smule teit å lese det her nå, men hvis jeg forteller at mellom flere av ordene måtte hun legge til “assa”, “eeeh”, “azz” og min favoritt; “Seriøst(!!!)”. Er det sånt som skal få meg til å frykte dere? Ja, jeg fryder meg like mye over å høre slike samtaler mellom eldre jenter, som jeg tror dere gjør når dere tenker at sånne som meg synes dere er skumle.

Gode nyheter! Jeg overlevde! det var kjempemoro å spille. vi var 10 stk, så det ble 2 lag med 4 på banen og en innbytter. Selvfølgelig ble det meg og 9 gutter, det var jo ikke helt uventet. Det ble mange av type: “Kom igjen nå gutta! … og jenta..” Men jeg er helt vant med å være en av gutta, så det går helt fint. Ellers kan jeg medele at jeg har ingen anelse hvem som vant, men siden ikke dere vet heller, så sier jeg selvfølgelig: VI VANT =D Guttene var veldig søte og sa unnskyd hver gang de sparket ballen på meg litt over middels hardt, men jeg tåler da litt. En av guttene prøvde å være veldig forsiktig med meg, men da dyttet jeg han inn i veggen og tok ballen fra han, tror han prøvde å ta hevn resten av kampen =P

Tilslutt må jeg vel nesten også nevne at stakkars Lars (jeej, jeg kan navnet på noen) fikk ballen rett på det stedet gutter helst ikke vil ha ballen, og lå og krøllet seg på banen en liten stund.. Stakkar.. Til tross for at jeg i grunn aldri har spilt fotball virket guttene nokså imponert over fotball-skillsene mine, evt noe de bare sa for å være høflige, men jeg velger å tro det første. Nå har jeg vel i grunn lovet å være med neste uke og så jenteandelen øker betraktelig, men det er helt greit, det var stas. Dette blir fra nå min faste onsdagsaktivitet! Jeeej, jobben betaler =D

There is an old saying in life… that often more times than not, it isn’t what you know that will get you ahead in life… but who you blow baby…  Ahh… did your mind just creep back down to the gutter when you read that first sentence???  You and I both know that it really never left the gutter…  Simply just reading that peaked your curiosity enough to urge your sleepy little peanut head to perk up…  Not that peanut head silly… that will be a blog for a different day…  that blog may get one or two minutes of my time in the future… or maybe not…   This is about how people feel the need to get ahead in life and work at any expense and absolutely no care to others around them or whom they step on or over to get to what they think is the golden apple… That sweet spot of success that many feel will give them purpose in life…

The worst of these are both men and women whom in business and life… set their sights on a goal and only know ”one” way to achieve that goal… to lay down and spread em wide open or hop on and take a ride… those whom do this to achieve what they want are the amongst the most cunning and yet the most stupid around… Yes… you can sleep or blow your way to a new job or a new relationship… but you lack the substance behind it to keep it…  Once the shine wears off your little rosy cheeks… you bring nothing to either the business world or as a partner into a relationship… you have built your world around a house of sugar and spice and eventually the rain will come and melt everything away you have worked so hard with to get, not your brain,  but you chose to use your body to achieve…  However, the road back down is a hard one to swallow… as you must fall past the ones you “blew” over to get what you thought you had to have…  You made no friends getting there, so you have none on your way down… You have made a cold bed and must lie in it…  until you find the next opportunity that it is… and you will because all you know…  is how to “Blow”…

The other group that can be even more annoying, are those whom “Blow” by different means…  They are smart and cunning… and have mastered the art of manipulation on both a business and personal level…  They specialize in “Blowing Smoke”… up your ass to get what they want and thing they need and have no regrets or guilt about their actions… in their own little world… You are a tool and a pawn that allows them to reach the next pinnacle of success in their warped minds… These individuals are masters at beings wolves in Sheeps clothing and often it takes years to uncover or clear the “Smoke” they blew to get what they wanted…  But, the smoke does at some point clear away when a strong breeze kicks up and begins to uncover things that have been a bit hazy for those around them for a few years or even decades…  These individuals eventually end up below poverty level, with no family and or friends… yet do not recognize this as they live in a perpetual state of fog from all the years of blowing smoke to get ahead… they can not see clearly and will never accept their accountability for their actions…  They will spend all their days trying to restart the fire to get smoke going again… If you happen to find em and throw water on them… or stay upwind of these individuals…  they are a bad lot…

For the rest of us… it is about hard work, dedication and goals… set your goals far above the “Blowing” level and you will achieve far greater success in life no matter if you have nothing to your name more than these two types above…  in Sarah’s world… blowing is for candles and behind closed doors only…  If you choose to blow your way up baby… it will catch up to up you if you aren’t careful… or even if  you are…  So I want to know if you have had experiences with those who blow or if you doing the blowing… please let me know…

A few weeks ago, I blogged about a recent OKCupid! blog about race factoring into member preference in dating. I felt that while the methods of data measurement were suspect, it opened up an interesting dialogue on racial relations and preferences in America post-Obama election.

Oh, America.

Too bad that these conversations are few and far between, as we continue to see a blatant prejudice in partner preference. In my occasional strolls online, I waded through the gutter known as the Craigslist Personals. And boy, there were some doozies that made me want to bite kneecaps.

For example, a coffee lover wrote:

I’m spending the day relaxing and regrouping. Later in the evening, I’m planning on going to one of the several Starbucks in town. And I wouldn’t mind some company that could lead to a friend with benefits and/or something more situation.

So I look forward to hearing from you. Please include a picture.

Damn. At age 29, I barely missed the cut-off for her requirements. Also, I’m not WHITE.

I know that people have their ideal partner picked out in their minds, but most mask their racial hang-ups behind polite remarks about “having conservative values,” “thinking that Tucson, Arizona is too liberal” (true story) and similar treats.

I think that the next online dating ad I write will weed out unwanted correspondences by including that I seek a “single female with GYNORMOUS HOO-HOOS.” After all, having big ol’ breasteses automatically means that a woman is infinitely more desirable and therefore better as a human being than someone with only decent breasticles.

You can replace the breast talk with race, and this analogy still applies.

Hey, speaking of race (STILL? I know, impatient reader. I’m almost done.), here’s another shining pillar of humanity wondering where all the sexy tall black men at:

I am trying to find out where all the sexy black men hang out. I am looking for a black man that embraces his roots and is not trying to act white. A man that can get down at the club and rub up on me or just chill and watch a game. I like a man that knows what he wants and goes after it.

*sigh*

Let’s break this down:

1. I am trying to find out where all the sexy black men hang out.

Looking on Craigslist for the super-secret hang out of the sexy black men is the first mistake. At best, you’ll find a moderately decent black man, and they sure as hell won’t divulge where the sexy black man clubhouse is. (Hint: it ain’t in Scottsdale, where this person lives.) Second, thinking that there is some forest meadow where sexy black men frolic is the most ignorant thing I’ve read in some time — and that includes the racist Louisiana judge with “piles” of black friends. I honestly hope she finds this mystical fairytale of a black man bordello, and is kicked out on her face.

2. I am looking for a black man that embraces his roots and is not trying to act white.

I am punching a pillow as I write this. It hurts. SO MUCH.

Watch out, Beyonce! White-acting brotha be wantin' the white meat!

I am curious about what constitutes these “roots” that are so desperately in need of embracing. Considering that the person asking thinks there is an invisible fortress where black men are bringing sexy back, I would guess that these “roots” include the common images of black men that they probably internalize: being straight-up gangsta and acting hard, using slang as the main form of communication, dressing in such ways that a crazy-ass white person wouldn’t dress, and having a comical hatred for the white man.

I’ve dealt with ignorant people that had ill-conceived ideas of black people my whole life. From kids wondering why I didn’t listen to rap music, to being mistaken for British because I pronounce my words, I’ve had my own uphill battle with those that grouped black people by media-forced images. Some of my friends have joked with me about this. I’ve had black peers in junior high and high school pretend to be my friends while hurting me emotionally and physically, making me the butt of their jokes. Even my ex-girlfriend (a Hungarian woman) made an unfortunate “joke” about me acting white despite being black. Her comment hurt more than nearly any other, as I gave her my love and trust, and got an ignorant comment in return.

And then there are those that have called me that delightful n-word simply based on the color of my skin. Those were the worst experiences of all.

So these “roots” are those that can never be escaped. As for black men that “act white?” That is an unfortunate viewpoint of a person so shallow, ignorant and with little insight, it magnifies the problems that we ALL face as a culture — not just the black community, which has a deep-seated problem with putting down people of their own heritage due to low self-esteem brought on by self-hatred from themselves, their families, friends, the black community and negative stereotypes. And that is just the tip of the iceberg.

You want a black man who won’t “act white.” How about you stop acting like a bigot?

3. A man that can get down at the club and rub up on me or just chill and watch a game.

Is that all black men are good for — grinding on your dumb ass at the club or enjoying sports? Well, DAMN MASSA! Break out the leash, because I wants to please you at the club, MISS! 4. I like a man that knows what he wants and goes after it.

Does this include a sexy black man that knows that he wants a 40-ounce and steals it? Because based on this shit I’ve been reading so far, I wouldn’t be surprised.

I would LOVE to see the responses this Craigslist ad gets, especially if it’s one of these imaginary sexy black men that congregate in secret, waiting to be found by dim-witted women from Scottsdale that hate those white-acting Negroids.

This stuff is why race will continue to be an issue in dating — let alone American society — for a long time to come. While it’s good to weed out the racist idiots for what they are, the prevalence for such attitudes — and the brazen confidence to display it openly — shows that we are far from the racial progress some people believe we have achieved because a black man is president of the United States.

Kjønnsperspektiv i skolen er noe som har opptatt meg veldig. Jeg er generelt opptatt av mannens stilling i samfunnet i dag, og en av de plassene man tydeligst ser at noe er på ville veier er i skolen. Gutter gjør det dårligere enn jentene og det er andelen av gutter/menn som tar høyere utdanning synker. I aftenposten i dag så viser det seg at det ikke spiller noe rolle om man har kvinnelig eller mannlig lærer. Det er andre ting som spiller inn på om gutta klarer seg eller ikke. En god lærer er en god lærer uansett mener forskerne. Det kan vel stemme.

Jeg mener ikke å være noe ekspert på emnet, men jeg er gutt og har vært gjennom mange år med skole. Jeg ble bevisst på feminiseringen (i mangle av et bedre ord) i skolen på Lærerhøgskolen i Oslo. Der er også de aller fleste foreleserne/lærerne damer. Noen hederlige unntak er det (Timmy, du veit hvem du er og tidligere nevnte Gunnar Neegaard), men de blir fort kneblet av kvinnelige studenter. Vår mattelærer underviste på en måte som passa oss gutta godt, men studievalueringen sa at klassen ikke var fornøyd med undervisningen (rykter og antagelser selvfølgelig, men det er et “educated guess” fra min side) og han fikk en annen klasse enn oss neste år. Vi gutta var ikke flertallet i klassen denne gangen. Vi gutta klarte ikke å velte pedlærerinna vår. Pedhistorie er ikke spennende og engasjerende for de fleste av oss gutta og det blir ikke bedre med denne type undervisning:

• Tenk deg tilbake til det gamle Hellas, lukk øynene. Hva har du på deg?
• Hvem er du? Er det noen av dere som tenker dere selv som slaver? Hvorfor ikke?
• Se på de fantastiske krøllene til Rosseau!

Dette blir løsrevne sitater ute av kontekst, men jeg var der, og jeg følte ikke at det ble undervist for meg (så må vi jo huske på at flertallet av elevene på HiO er damer og det må undervises for dem mest kanskje, men det er en annen skål). Det jeg lærte i pedhistorietimene var at man må huske på alle elevene i klassen. De må kunne identifisere seg med det du holder på med ved kateteret. Det gjelder ikke bare på tvers av kjønn, men også på tvers av opphav.

Derfor: Når du snakker om geologi og berggrunnen i Norge, ikke si; tenk deg at du er en fugl som flyr høyt over landet og kan se helt ned til grunnfjellet. Nei, da sier du; se for deg cockpiten i et helikopter, foran deg har du en skjerm der du ser helt ned til grunnfjellet.

Eller når du snakker om forskere så nevner du Alhazen for at de fra midtøsten skal føle seg inkludert, du nevner Marie Curie for at jentene skal føle seg inkludert, du nevner Nikola Tesla slik at du kan vise bilde av en Tesla roadster så får du med de bil- og miljøinteresserte også. Legg til flere forskere som funker i din klasse.

Det handler vel igjen i om tilpassa opplæring, men det er ikke så vanskelig å legge om språket sitt, og å velge hvilke bilder man skal bruke (både metaforer og bilder).

Dette ble mer tannløst og generelt enn jeg hadde trodd. Og når jeg tenker gjennom hva jeg har skrevet kommer jeg vel frem til at det ikke er gutta som er viktigst, men at alle er med.

In my last blog I mentioned that Mattamy seemed to have some trouble putting on roofs with some substance.  Not the kind of roof that would at least until your newborn got into high school, let alone college.

Well, there seems to be another problem and in all fairness to Mattamy, a problem that might be attributed to any builder who doesn’t understand the dynamics of water flow.  Since Mattamy was charged in the Ottawa area with illegal landfill into the Jock River, we can understand their lack of understanding in hydrology.

One person observed, on Mattamy homes at least, that when you have multiple roof levels on one house, you sometimes have downspouts that direct water to the lower roof.  He noticed that this concentrated water seemed to curl the shingles in that area and cause premature failure of the roofing.  Another homeowner noted that some of the downspouts caused rainwater to flow horizontally across the shingles, causing failure.

The observation of this fault was backed up by at least two house inspectors,  Halton-Peel Home Inspection and Halton Home Inspection Service who offered a solution. 

Ensure that the downspout is extended across the roof to the next gutter.  Yes, some feel it detracts from the house appearance – a problem that the Mattamy architect created but, you can have a functional house or a pretty house with a leaking roof. 

Your choice.

The advice given is:  ensure the builder puts on the extension and note same on your PDI.  If they don’t and there is roof damage, you might have a better chance at compensation.

Oh what a lovely day, today. no, seriously, what a lovely day. well, i love it any way. Even if that stupid gutter is dripping!!!! wankster!

how am I supposed to not be happy today. its raining, P!NK’s live cd/dvd is supposed to come today, and, to be honest, i can’t think of ANYTHING that could make me happier.

so what if im that shallow and can only be happy by spending money. actually, you couldnt be more wrong. yeah, maybe I have that kinda, I dunno what youd call it… impression. but then, doesn’t everyone give wrong impresions… id say they do.

theirs so many other things that can make me megger happy… like actually SEEING p!nk…

haha just kidden… but that DID make me happy.

college again today. wowy im looking forward to it, and im wondering, am I gonna to spend the day just ordering a bajillion catalogues again, just so I can cut them out.

oh, that reminds me…
