HK investigating another human case of H9

Hong Kong health officials are investigating one imported case of influenza A H9 infection, a mild form of avian influenza, according to the Hong Kong government website Tuesday.

The case involved a female patient, 47, who lived in Guangdong Province, said a spokesman for The Center for Health Protection ( CHP) of the Department of Health.

This is the sixth time that H9 viruses had been found in humans in Hong Kong.

The patient developed shortness of breath and cough with sputum on Oct. 26. She came to Hong Kong for medical treatment and was admitted to Queen Mary Hospital on Oct. 28. She is now in stable condition.

Influenza A H9 virus was detected in the patient’s respiratory specimen taken on Oct. 29.

The department informed the World Health Organization, the Ministry of Health, and the health authorities of Guangdong and Macao of the development, the spokesman said.

The patient’s family members have been put under medical surveillance.

Influenza A H9 is an avian influenza virus which has been isolated from duck and chicken for many years. Infection in humans is rare, and appears to present as a mild disease.

Four girls and a boy in Hong Kong were confirmed to have suffered from H9 infection in 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2008 respectively.

Brasil confirma primeiro óbito por Influenza A (H1N1)
Paciente gaúcho que esteve na Argentina faleceu no domingo (28.06)

O ministro da Saúde, José Gomes Temporão, confirmou no domingo (28.06)
a primeira morte relacionada ao vírus Influenza A (H1N1) no País.
Trata-se de uma pessoa adulta do Rio Grande do Sul, que esteve na Argentina
por sete dias. Também no domingo, foram confirmados 36 novos casos da doença.
Com isso, agora são 627 casos confirmados da nova gripe no Brasil.
Desses, quase todos já tiveram alta ou estão em recuperação.

“No Brasil, a doença continua limitada e sem sustentabilidade”, afirmou o ministro.
“Isso significa que, até agora, somente foram registrados casos no Brasil de pessoas
que viajaram ao exterior ou que tiveram um contato próximo com elas”, completou.
Temporão frisou que há uma percepção, em todo o mundo, de queda da letalidade
relacionada ao novo vírus – atualmente, na faixa de 0,4%. No Brasil,
a taxa de letalidade é de 0,16%.

Diante do primeiro óbito no País, Temporão reiterou que o Ministério da Saúde,
em conjunto com as secretarias estaduais e municipais de saúde, “tem feito tudo
o que é necessário para evitar que a doença se espalhe e que outros óbitos venham
a ocorrer, garantindo a segurança da população. As medidas continuam seguindo
a mesma linha traçada desde o início da execução do plano de contingência”.

O ministro afirmou também que o Ministério da Saúde se antecipou a todas
as recomendações da Organização Mundial de Saúde e seguiu rigorosamente
as suas orientações e que o País conta com estrutura adequada para atender
à demanda da população.

Além da morte ocorrida, o Ministério da Saúde acompanha mais um caso
de paciente que inspira cuidados. Está sendo investigada a morte,
na sexta-feira (26.06), de um paciente norte-americano no RS.
Segundo a secretaria estadual de saúde, exames preliminares revelaram
que não há evidências de que a causa da morte tenha sido o vírus H1N1.
Os resultados finais devem sair até amanhã. De acordo com as informações
divulgadas pelo Ministério da Saúde, atualmente, no Brasil, a maior parte
dos casos é leve e tem evoluído para a cura.
Temporão também ressaltou a necessidade de cuidados básicos, como lavar
bem as mãos com freqüência, evitar compartilhar pratos, talheres e alimentos,
cobrir a boca e o nariz ao tossir e espirrar, para evitar contato com secreções.

AUMENTO – O ministro afirmou que o esse cenário era esperado porque houve
aumento do número de países com casos confirmados, tanto é que a Organização
Mundial de Saúde alterou o nível de Emergência de Saúde Pública de Importância
Internacional de nível 5 para nível 6 no último dia 11 de junho, caracterizando,
assim, a pandemia. Hoje, no mundo, são 114 países, com 71.320 casos confirmados
da doença e 320 óbitos.

Temporão atribuiu o crescente de notificações ao aumento do número de viajantes,
em período de feriado e férias, para os países com transmissão sustentada do vírus.
Segundo a OMS, são eles: Estados Unidos, México, Canadá, Chile, Argentina, Austrália
e, nos últimos dias, também o Reino Unido. Além disso, teve início do inverno
no hemisfério sul, quando os casos de gripe, não só da Influenza A (H1N1), crescem.

O ministro informou que, na semana passada, a diretora-geral da Organização
Mundial de Saúde anunciou que não há evidências de que o vírus A (H1N1)
esteja se misturando geneticamente a outros, o que é compatível com a baixa
letalidade observada atualmente. A queda mostra também que os tratamentos
disponíveis têm surtido efeito para a maior parcela dos infectados.
“No entanto, como a doença é nova, ainda devemos acompanhar a evolução
da letalidade, até porque esse índice é variável de país a país”, disse Temporão.

There are many days in your life that you can’t never forget what happened in those days. Ya. 22nd of May is one of them. This entry must be publish yesterday but I’m busy on chatting with my cf so …. forget to publish. He asked me about some days I had mentioned on the above sentence. Yes. He’s right. He has a talent to guess things. But he just not sure about a day which he should remember. Anyway, I can’t blame him for that because I know that except me, no one can remember that day after 2 years passed. That’s true. No one asked me about my sentence except my cf – he just guess and ask. If I didn’t mention it, he would never remember.

That is the day that I can’t forget, indeed. I remember as it just happened yesterday. I did heard some sweet and beautiful words from others, and now I realize that it’s NEVER true. I did see some tear but I have no idea the meaning of its. 2 years, everything change and seems like words also change. But at that day, I did do one thing I never regret that I did. I decide that I don’t care and forget what ppl said, what ppl act and what ppl promise. Now, it’s like nothing to me when I heard many opinions and know how ppl think. Everyone pretended. But I know I didn’t especially at that moment …..

Day by day, after that day, there are still some days unforgotten.

Lửa bốc lên tới đầu tui rồi sao tui chưa tthấy tui chửai ai hết mà sao ai cũng chửi tui hết dzạ. Dạo này tui tòan làm chuyện tào lao, đụng chạm ngừơi khác ko àh. Thôi, thề là hong đụng chạm ngta nữa. Tui sống cuôc sống của tui, tui hong muốn thành kẻ thù của ngừơi khác. Tui mệt rồi. Sống thiệt là khó, nhìu khi sống mà ko biết mình sai chổ nào. Gripe suína preocupa brasileiros

A “nova” modalidade de gripe, que se apresenta como um quadro de infecção
respiratória, chama atenção por atingir a população jovem, faixa etária
em que não é frequente adquirir esse tipo de infecção. Existem algumas variantes
pertencentes aos subtipos do vírus Influenza que possuem alterações genéticas,
capazes de atribuir características diferentes da infecção habitual. Estas alterações
podem acarretar mudanças no padrão de transmissão do vírus, na forma clínica
de apresentação da doença e até mesmo na resposta ao tratamento.

Segundo especialistas, o vírus Influenza A, chamado de H1N1 que causa a infecção,
possui diferentes variantes que acometem não somente os suínos, mas as aves
(gripe aviária) e mesmo os seres humanos, causando o conhecido quadro de “gripe”.
Os vírus que acometem os animais podem também ser transmitidos ao homem,
causando quadro clínico semelhante, mas habitualmente estes quadros são sem
gravidade.

No México, em decorrência de um surto de gripe em suínos, algumas pessoas
foram infectadas com o Influenza suíno e desenvolveram quadros respiratórios
infecciosos, altamente contagiosos. Com suspeita de transmissão de pessoa
a pessoa, a disseminação desta nova variante do Influenza pode assumir proporções
graves para a população, não somente do México, mas em todo o mundo.
.
O quadro clínico da doença pode variar desde a ausência de sintomas até a cenários
mais severos. Normalmente os sintomas tem sido de uma gripe mais forte, que
se apresenta de maneira repentina, com febre alta (superior a 39ºC), dor de cabeça
intensa, dores musculares e de articulações, tosse, irritação nos olhos e fluxo nasal.
.
O vírus da influenza pode ser transmitido de forma direta, através das secreções
das vias respiratórias de uma pessoa contaminada ao falar, espirrar, ou tossir;
ou de forma indireta, por meio das mãos que, após contato com superfícies
recentemente contaminadas por secreções respiratórias de um indivíduo infectado,
podem carrear o agente infeccioso diretamente para a boca, nariz e olhos.

Segundo a OMS, não há registro de transmissão deste novo subtipo da influenza
suína para pessoas por meio da ingestão de carne de porco e produtos derivados.
O vírus da influenza suína não resiste a altas temperaturas (70ºC), temperatura
em que os alimentos são cozidos ou assados.

Tratamento
Existem medicações antivirais específicas que podem ser utilizadas para tratamento
dos pacientes acometidos pela Influenza suína. O Ministério da Saúde dispõe
de estoque destas medicações para o caso de detecções de casos no Brasil.
A Organização Mundial de Saúde está trabalhando para a obtenção de uma vacina
contra a doença, mas ainda não se dispõe de uma imunização específica
para este surto, pois é necessário que esta vacina contenha informações
das variantes suínas do vírus Influenza, responsáveis pelas infecções atuais.
“As vacinas de Influenza disponíveis para a gripe em idosos e crianças
provavelmente não conferirão proteção contra a gripe suína, portanto não são
indicadas como medida de proteção ou prevenção”, alerta o médico.

Medidas
No Brasil iniciou-se um Plano de Contingência e Controle da doença,
coordenado pelo Ministério da Saúde, sobretudo nos Portos e Aeroportos nacionais
com o objetivo de realizar uma vigilância da doença, através da detecção precoce
de possíveis casos suspeitos. Estas ações serão intensificadas nos vôos provenientes
do México, mas como há casos relatados também em outros países, a vigilância
é praticamente geral.

Por que essa gripe com origem no México está sendo chamada
de gripe suína?
Dra. Viviane: Porque, originalmente, o vírus é causador de gripe em suínos.
Sua origem parece ser um vírus da gripe suína mutante.

Só pessoas que tenham estado no México podem ter essa gripe?
Dra. Viviane: Não. A definição de caso suspeito é qualquer pessoa com sintomas
gripais/febris que no período de sete dias anteriores tenha tido contato próximo
com alguém que tenha a confirmação de infecção pelo vírus da gripe suína (H1N1).
Também deve ser considerado o diagnóstico diferencial de gripe suína se a pessoa
vive em alguma cidade dos Estados Unidos ou se viajou ao México ou esteve próximo
a pessoas com doença respiratória febril nas cidades dos Estados Unidos e México
nos sete dias precedentes.

Pode-se comer normalmente a carne suína ou há restrições?
Dra. Viviane: Sim, desde que bem cozida.

Quais os sintomas dessa gripe? Ela pode ser confundida
com uma gripe qualquer?
Dra. Viviane: Congestão nasal, tosse, febre, rinorréia, podendo em alguns casos
evoluir para pneumonia. Pode ser confundida sim.

A taxa de mortalidade que as autoridades estão divulgando está na
casa dos 6%. Esse percentual pode aumentar?
Dra. Viviane: Sim, existe um risco considerável dessa situação tornar-se uma
pandemia e este percentual aumentar.
.

Como cura essa gripe? É verdade que a cura só ocorre quando o caso
é detectado 48 horas após o contágio?
Dra. Viviane: Para este vírus existem antivirais ativos disponíveis,
porém sua melhor ação ocorre se iniciado após 48 horas do início dos sintomas.

Como as pessoas podem se prevenir?
Dra. Viviane: Evitar contato com pessoas que apresentam doença respiratória febril
aguda suspeita e evitar realizar viagens internacionais. Se estiver doente, deve-se
ficar em casa, cobrir a boca e o nariz com lenço descartável ao espirrar ou tossir,
lavar as mãos constantemente com água e sabão, evitar tocar olhos, nariz e boca
sem antes lavar previamente as mãos.

O que é a gripe suína ?

Atenção do mundo se voltou para a gripe suína, que surgiu no México,
atingiu os Estados Unidos, Ásia, entre outros locais e já matou pessoas.
Mas, o que é a gripe suína? Para conhecermos um pouco mais sobre o vírus
e sabermos o que fazer caso sejamos contaminados, o doutor Dorival Duarte
de Lima, Infectologista e diretor clínico do Hospital Adventista de São Paulo,
em entrevista, responde:

O mundo todo está falando em gripe suína, mas em que ela consiste realmente?
A gripe suína consiste em um processo infeccioso produzido por um vírus Influenza,
caracterizada por febre elevada, cefaléia severa, dores musculares e articulares
difusas, e manifestações respiratórias, como dor orofaríngea e tosse.

O que é o vírus H1N1?
O vírus H1N1 é um vírus Influenza que pertence a uma família de vírus chamada
Orthomyxoviridae. Existem 3 tipos diferentes do vírus, o Vírus Influenza A,
o Influenza B e o Influenza C. O vírus Influenza A se caracteriza por possuir subtipos,
que são originados a partir de uma série de estruturas antigênicas, usualmente
proteínas em sua superfície, sendo as principais chamadas de Hemaglutininas
e Neuraminidases. Existem 15 diferentes Hemaglutininas, numeradas de 1 a 15,
às quais chamamos de H1 até H15, e 9 neuraminidases, classificadas de N1 até N9.
Desta forma, um subtipo do vírus Influenza A será classificado dependendo
das estruturas antigênicas que combinarão suas hemaglutininas e neuraminidases
em sua superfície, dando assim as combinações alfa-numéricas que caracterizam
o tipo do vírus. A chamada “gripe suína”, então, é produzida pelo Vírus Influenza A
que contém em sua estrutura externa os antígenos 1 das Hemaglutininas
e o antígeno 1 das Neuraminidases, foneticamente expressa como H1N1.
O vírus Influenza A infecta uma série de espécies, que incluem o homem,
mas ademais do homem, outros animais, como os cavalos, os porcos, mamíferos
marinhos, e de forma especial aos pássaros. A infecção, no caso da pandemia,
isto é, uma epidemia que rompe fronteiras, iminente que vivemos, deve sua origem
à aquisição pelo homem do H1N1 a partir dos suínos, com propensão de disseminação
inter-humanos.

Apesar de a gripe ser chamada de suína, o mercado que comercializa
este tipo de carne, assim como a Organização Mundial da Saúde,
garantem que o vírus não é transmitido pela ingestão do animal.
É isso mesmo?
Sim, efetivamente, a transmissão do vírus ocorre primariamente
pela via inalatória, isto é, pelo trato respiratório. Assim, a ingestão da carne
dos suínos, preparada de forma assada ou cozida, não representa risco de infecção.

Como é o contágio?
A aquisição inicial da infecção, uma vez adquirida a partir dos animais,
e neste caso o porco, é transmitida em primeira instância pela via aérea.
Ou seja, uma pessoa infectada, ao tossir ou espirrar gera partículas em aerossol,
e estas partículas inaladas por uma pessoa susceptível, induzirá à infecção
do trato respiratório, com repercussão sistêmica.
Vale frisar que o período de incubação do vírus Influenza é curto, entre um
e três dias, após o qual o paciente começa com as manifestações clínicas,
que são febre usualmente acima dos 39 graus, dor de cabeça muito grave,
dores musculares e articulares, e sintomas respiratórios, como tosse,
dor na orofaringe. Se o quadro progride para a pneumonia viral, então falta de ar
é agregada, podendo levar à insuficiência respiratória e até à morte.

Qual o método de tratamento?
Dr. Dorival: Pessoas com os sintomas acima, provenientes de ou que haja tido
contato com uma pessoa que provenha de uma área onde haja transmissão
ativa do vírus, deve procurar atenção médica imediatamente. Diante da suspeita
do caso, o paciente deve ser colocado em isolamento respiratório, para evitar
a disseminação da infecção. Existem duas drogas antivirais que têm atividade
contra o vírus Influenza H1N1, uma chamada Oseltamivir e a outra Zanamivir,
que devem ser administradas nas primeiras 72 horas desde o aparecimento
dos sintomas.

A atual vacina da gripe tem algum efeito preventivo neste caso ou não?
Dr. Dorival: A atual vacina contra o vírus Influenza, com a qual nos encontramos
no período de administração nestes dias aqui no Brasil, é preparada a partir
de amostras do vírus Influenza obtido de diferentes países do mundo, e é preparada
com base nos vírus Influenza que circularam e produziram infecção na população
na estação anterior. Infecções pelo vírus Influenza ocorrem de forma primordial
nos meses de outono e inverno nos países temperados e frios. Nos países tropicais,
ainda que agravada no inverno, os casos de Influenza tendem a ocorrer durante
todo o ano. Desta forma, a vacina atual, é preparada com base nos determinantes
antigênicos do vírus influenza que circulou no inverno passado, e tem eficácia
para os determinantes antigênicos contra os vírus daquele então.
A vacina atual não tem ação contra o H1N1 que está na iminência de produzir
a pandemia que nos ameaça atualmente, não é uma saída para a gripe suína.
Isto significa que a vacina da gripe que, temos hoje, tem efeito sobre os vírus
influenza do ano passado, pois as vacinas são feitas baseadas no vírus do ano
anterior. A vacina para a gripe suína ou H1N1 levará meses ainda para
ser produzida disponibilizada.

Zack Greinke, out of this world

This kid is amazing.

He turned my attention to him after his 2nd and 3rd starts which increased his scoreless streak over 30 games and had an amazing ERA, WHIP and K’s.

Now, he sits 6 starts in, at 6-0, 54 k’s, 0.4 ERA, .84 WHIP, and 6 hits per 9 innings.

Everyone knows how important wins, era, and k’s are.

But WHIP is actually an underrated stat along with h/9.

WHIP is walks and hits per inning pitched.

So basically, Zack lets less than one person on per inning pitched.

He’s had 3 complete games, with 2 shutouts, one of which came last night against a powerful Chicago white sox team.

He’a number one in baseball, including hitters and pitchers according to yahoo’s fantasy stats.

45 innings pitched, 2 earned runs.

Unheard of.

But the amazing thing is the backstory of Zack.

He had an article written about him in SI not too long ago, after he turned mine and the rest of the world’s heads towards him.

He came into the game as skilled as a young player can be, and dominated in his rookie season.

He became the royals pitcher of the year as a rookie.

It’s not really saying much, because its the royals, but a rookie doing that is still awesome.

Then he became unamused with the game.

It was boring to him, dominating at such a young age.

He even didn’t like pitching as much as hitting.

He felt like he was forced to become a pitcher.

He one time promised he’d throw a 50-mph curveball in the next inning he pitched.

50 mph is amazingly slow, kids in 5th grade can get that high with a fastball.

He threw it to Dmitri Young (what a perfect person to throw it to), and it looped in there slow as possible.

The mph reading?

50 on the dot.

He eventually had problems mentally and took a year or two off of baseball.

He had severe depression issues and finally sorted them out after a while.

He came back about 3 years later and continued his domination.

Now he puts the royals on his back, and is capable of making his own baseball league.

Like a blitz, but baseball.

He’d be the only one that didn’t cheat, and i’m sure he’d still dom the whole league.

He and nelson cruz should go together into the ZNBL.

But wait!?! Isn’t Dmitri’s bat broken?

Yes, it is. But Dmitri is so cocky he heard the comment from zacky and assumed he could hit that pitch with a broken bat so he tried.

And failed miserably.

My New Digital Camera Sony DSC H50

I ran into Circuit City while they are having their going out of business sale,and picked up a deal on a Sony DSC H50 Digital Camera. It is a very nice upgrade from what I shoot with currently A little more MP power,night shot enhancement and a cool techie swivel 3″ LCD view screen in the back. I borrowed these TERRIFIC pictures from Allen Qu’s Flickr Page since he has captured the BEAUTY of this camera with his shots! I have also researched the lenses attached to this camera in Allen’s shots and will have them in my possession shortly!

Cuối cùng quyết định ăn hủ tíu bến Chương Dương. Hix. Ăn xong 2 anh em đi uống cafe 2 anh em đi uống cafe mới thấy đời sao mà nó rãnh thế. Hehe. Đang đi thì mom gọi hỏi anh hai đang đi đâu, anh hai trả lời đang đi uống nước với Tini, tức em gái ^^ Nhưng muh chính xác là đi dzí bà Nga NSMM. Cũng lâu òi hong gặp bả. Nhờ bả mà 2 anh em mới có dịp đi uống cafe dzí nhau. Hehe. Đúng là Tết nó rãnh thiệt, 1 ngày đi cafe 2 lần. Tối chạy vòng với bạn Mắm ròai 2 đứa chui dzô Tùng Jazz uống nước. Uống xong chạy về lạnh tê tái =.=!

oOo Mùng 3 Tết:

Hẹn bạn heo tím đi chơi. Chính xác là nó hẹn mình 9h mà nó dám để mình chờ tới 11h. Mí bạn xài dây thun gì mà bền thế hong bít. Giận quá. huhu. 2 đứa khùng chạy ra đường hoa “hành nghề”. Kiu đi sớm hong chịu 11h trưa ra giữa đường mà bắt “thoát y” là ngại chết. Từ nhà đi ra mổi bạn có 1 cái khẩu trang, 1 cái găng tay hay 1 cái áo khoác. Ra tới đường hoa thì “lột sạch sẽ”. CHộp hình mà, trùm kín mít sao chộp. Dù nắng nóng nhưng vì nghệ thuật vẫn fai hi sinh, hí hí. Chạy chạy chộp chộp. 2 đứa chộp qua chộp lại. Xong òi vô trường xưa chộp hình nữa. NĐC là nơi lý tưởng để chộp hình. Vừa mát, kiến trúc cổ kínnh, rất …. nghệ thuật. khửa khửa. Bạn heo tím rất fiền. Làm phó nháy cho bạn này mệt thiệt hehe. Nhưng dzui. 12h hơn mới lết xác về nhà. Chiều, mí bạn lại xài dây thun xịn. Xịn quá cỡ, hẹn 3h rồi 5h rồi 7h mới đi đc. Pó hand. Saté 1 tô ròai chạy ra quán quen thuộc. Quán này cùng chủ nên cũng cùng fong cách dzí Tùng jazz. Quán quen thuộc kiu món quen thuộc “kem nhãn”. Mà hết ròai. wê. Hum nay đc nghe câu chuyện lừa đảo tham nhũng 10 năm nay giờ này mới bị phanh phui. Mà nó bị phanh phui là do 2 hung thủ tự nguyện kể. Nạn nhân ko còn bít nói gì nữa, quá sửng sốt khi bít chồng mình đã lừa gạc mình 10 năm nay. hahahaahahahahaha. Tội nghiệp con nhỏ. Tiếu bà cố ^^

oOo Mùng 4 Tết:

Ham hố đi họp lớp. Mà hong fai lớp mình. Đi họp lớp ngừơi ta >”< Đi họp lớp dzí lớp k1. Lên nhà bạn Mắm chơi. Sao mình ham hố dữ ta. Sáng dậy lúc 7h rưỡi. Mới bước xuống nhà ai cũng hỏi sao dậy sớm dzị ^^ Có đi chơi mới chịu khó vậy chớ, chứ bình thường đâu có dễ gì hihi. Lớp ngừơi ta đi hop lớp thấy ham. Take bus lên nhà ngoại bạn mắm. Hơ, cái nhà. Để đi chộp hình dzí cái nhà, cái vườn, …. cái xe. Chộp hình “kìêu nữ và đại gia” Rồi bài bạc, lô tô. Rồi nấu ăn. Rồi ăn. Rồi chơi. Rồi về. Năm nay mình sa đọa thế. Chơi đánh bài ăn tiền. Mà cái số hong có dziên dzí bài bạc. Chơi thì chơi, chơi 1 hồi hòan vốn, hong lời cũng hong lỗ. Pó tay. Xong, take bus ngược về. Ngủ 1 giấc lúc mọi ngừơi trong nhà đi chơi. Mở mắt ra có độ đi chơi. Đi lúc mọi ngừơi trong nhà mới trở về. hehe. Cậu bảo sao nó cứ đi suốt ngày. Con trả lời con còn đi hum nay với ngày mai nữa, ngày mốt con ở nhà làm con ngoan ^^ Tối đi chơi dzí anh iu dzí chị iu. Từ lúc về tới giờ mới thấy mặt bả đó. Lại đi chôp hình. Cái đường hoa này đi chôp hình 3 lần ròai. Sao ham hố thế. Đi ăn phở ròai đi uống cafe. Lại cafe. Ở MT này đi chơi 1 cafe 2 karaoke. Hết. Bởi dzị,Tết này fải làm cho hết mấy quán ở MT. Vậy là thấy thành công ròai áh =)) Uống nước xong cũng lại quéo nữa. Lạnh pà cố lun. Còn chạy lên Coop nữa chớ ^^

oOo Mùng 5 Tết:

Ngày này mới quan trọng nà. Ngày quan trọng mang tên HỌP LỚp. Cái even này tốn tiền ngừơi ta dữ lắm nà, mà hem có đc như mong muốn >”< Ngừơi cứ nói sao lớp mình hong đòan kết rồi hong chịu đi họp lớp. Cứ cái suy nghĩ vậy rồi còn ai đi nữa. Đi họp lớp mà làm như đi lao động khổ sai hong bằng. Năn nỉ như gì áh. Còn ngừơi có 1 kế họach khổng lồ cho buổi họp lớp thì …. bể kế họach (ngủ như heo) ^^ chán !!!!! Nhưng cũng đc hơn chục móng. Lên biệt thự nhà bạn Ngân chơi. Lại bài bạc, lô tô tiếp. Lại ko có lời. Sao xui dzạ chời. Hiz. Ròai đi ăn lẩu. Xong òi ngừơi nào về nhà nấy. hết fin. Ngủ. Từ lúc đó tới tổi ở nhà ko. Ngoan hong.

My Christmas Crazy Part 1

Christmas for us started back in November when we travelled to Adelaide for the Credit Union Christmas Pageant. My kids had never been and as H is now 10 we decided that it was now or never. I have fond memories of the pageant from when I was a kid. My mum worked for John Martins (the original sponsors of the pageant) and like every little girl in South Australia, I desperately wanted to be the fairy that got to ride Nipper or Nimble (rocking horses) or even better – got to sit on Santa’s float. Alas, it was not to be.

We were fortunate enough to have tickets, so we didn’t have to get there too early to get a good position – we left our hotel at 7am and were in position just after 8. (the pageant doesn’t start til 9.30, but they were expecting over 300,000 people). There had been heavy rain during the night, but the sun peeped through just long enough for the kids to start acting like vampires:

The kids got into the spirit while we waited and drew all over the road with chalk (like every other kid)

Then Father Christmas turned up and the batteries in my camera went flat. But I assure you, he did show up!

Introducing H10

Well not so much introducing her as changing her name. The child formerly known as H9 has had a birthday and is now enjoying being 10.

As is traditional in our house, I spent an eleventy bazillion hours on Friday producing the artwork requested:

Then yesterday, we celebrated with a party at the pub with 10 of her nearest and dearest. To keep the girls occupied, I had them decorating their own party bags boxes with glitter pens…

There was a treasure hunt in the garden followed by the traditional Pass the Parcel game. The High School Musical CD was produced and a dancing competition got them up and moving…

Surprisingly, when the food arrived, they all sat down and ate like real people – they even used cutlery (for the most part). They continued to drink large amounts of red fizzy (11 kids = 10 litres of drink??) and be entertained by The Jonas Brothers on the TV. There was even polite dinner conversation and nobody threw anything….

For dessert, we at Mars Bars as they should be eaten – with a knife and fork. First to finish was declared the winner:

They had a bit of a run around and played with the balloons while making room for the cake…

Soon it was time for the cake and candles….

The combined effect of the red fizzy and the blue jelly and the chocolate was beginning to take its toll. Fortunately, home time was just around the corner. More silliness then it was just time to clean up and head for home.

We took the kidlets to a Mini Golf course on the weekend. Neither of them had been before, so we let them practice a few times on the first hole, just to get the hang of it.

Practice out of the way, it was time to get serious. C6 was up first. He slammed the golf ball, it bounced around a few times and then dropped in the hole. That’s right! A hole in one first go. The only other ace for the day was from H9 on the 17th hole.

Nobody did particularly well though. This was a par 47 course and our scores were

ACW: 85
Gnome: 100
C6: 101
H9: 110

But the aim of the day was to have fun – and we certainly acheived that goal.

Delayed Post #1 - Freezing

July 27th was the Under 11 netall carnival. Yes I know, it’s now the end of September. The carnival was 2 months ago. Shut-up. I get around to things eventually.

We had to be there at 8.45am which required us to leave home by 8am. It was a bit chilly. Like 2°C chilly. There was still ice about the place. This is what we drove through on the way:

At least when it’s a foggy start to the day, then it usually comes in sunny. When we arrived the sun was just starting to peek through, but it had been raining and the courts were wet. The mercury had risen to 5°C and it was soon time to get underway. Mums clutching warm cups of coffee and wrapped in several layers of blankets, scarfs and beanies informed their daughters that it wasn’t really that cold and that “you’ll soon warm up when you start running around.” Each team played 7 games of 18 minutes each, with the top 2 teams playing a final at the end of the day.

The first game of the day was against Red/Blue/Gold (Lightenings team). They are a pretty aggressive team, and our girls were pretty nervous. The skies threatend, but the rain held off. Our girls came out firing and we defeated them 6-2

Our next game was against Black/White. Our girls were pretty confident coming in to play them as they often struggle to put a team together in the home and away competition. Unfortunately, they had pilfered girls from other teams for the day and had the coach that usually coaches Red/Blue/Gold was coaching them. The weather was warming up and it had now reached 8°C. The wind was picking up, making shooting a bit tricky. Eventually, the game was declared a draw at 5 all.

After a break for a few hot snacks, the girls were back on the court playing Green/Gold. The last game was a bit too close for comfort and the girls realised that they have to play hard if they want to win. We had never encountered these girls before (they don’t play in our league), so they were an unknown quantity. The skies threatened again, but even though the temperature dropped again, the rain still held off. The hot soup and snacks they consumed during the break must have done the trick, because the girls won this game 8-5.

We were then up against Black/Red. The girls on this team were pretty young compared to our girls. The wind was becoming gustier and the temperature was still below 10°C – but it was the warmest it got all day. The girls were worried about playing them, but they need not have, defeating them 7-3.

The match against Green/White got rained on. I was also sitting rugged up under an umbrella scoring, so there aren’t any photos of this game. Our girls obviously don’t play well in the rain. This was their only defeat of the day, losing to Green/White 6-7

A 5 minute break and the girls were back on the court playing Red/Balck/White. This was another unknown team, so the girls came out fighting hard. Through the occasional shower and gusty winds, the girls took the lead and defeated them 8-4.

The final round of the day was against Blue/White. We knew from the scoreboard that the girls only had to draw to make the final, but we only told them that they were in with a chance for the final. The temperature was dropping and it continued to shower on and off. The excitement of knowing that the final was within reach was evident and they won easily 11-2.

We played the final against Red/Blue/Gold. We had 5 wins, 1 loss, 1 draw. They had 6 wins and 1 loss. The only team they had lost to was us. The girls were very evenly matched. I also drew the scorers sheet for this game and sat wrapped in a bundle of coats, rugs, scarfs and hats, huddled under an umbrella while the rain soaked the court. In an 18 minute game, 18 goals were scored and numerous attempts made. It was a fast paced game which went goal for goal right up to the end. In the dying minutes we able to just reach ahead and we won the day 10-8.

Best player or the carnival also came from the Black and Golds. We huddled into the car tired, cold and wet for the long drive home. But the excitement of the win took a few days to wear off. We’ll be back next year!

Tonight we made my version of Honey Crackles. Its pretty much the standard recipe that you find on the cornflakes box with a little twist. Tonight we baked them in patty pans (makes about 24), but as an alternative, you can bake it as a slab, making sure you press into a lined pan quite firmly. You will need to cook it a bit longer. While its still warm cut into bars (but leave it in the tin). When cold, remove form the tin and recut. Homemade Crunchy Nut Bars!

4 cups Cornflakes
1/2 cup crushed nuts
100g Butter
1/2 cup Caster Sugar
2 Tblspn Honey

Place butter, sugar and honey in a saucepan. Heat slowly until the sugar dissolves then increase the heat until the mixture boils and becomes frothy.
Mix the nuts and the cornflakes together. Pour 1/3 of the cornflakes / nuts into the saucepan and mix well. Pour all this back into the bowl with the rest of the cornflakes and mix well.
Place into patty pans that have been placed in a muffin pan. Pack the mixture in well. Bake at 150C for 10 minutes. Allow to cool in the pan. Try to eat just one!

Well, we’re off today. I’m pretty much all packed in our new Bobsy Twins Luggage. I’m usually throwing things in a suitcase at the last minute, so it’s quite strange to be packed 24 hours in advance.
We are heading overseas for our 20th wedding anniversary and leaving the kidlets with my sister in Melbourne for the week. (Lucky her! )
There will be lots of photos on Flickr for you all to perve at while we’re away, and we might even be able to fit in a bit of geocaching!

… I have mentioned C6 far too much and not mentioned H9 any where near enough. I told her that it was because sitting in her room playing on the computer wasn’t really newsworthy enough. Well APPARENTLY :roll: she doesn’t spend ALL her time on the computer. My bad.

On Saturday she played netball. She played quite well actually. She spent the day playing Wing Defence, which is a bit unusual for her, because 1) she doesn’t like defending and 2) she hates running. Given a choice, she prefers to play goal shooter, which fulfils all her necessary criteria. Anyhow, she played defence like and attacker and managed to stop the opposing team from getting the ball down their goal end too many times.

I suppose I should have mentioned it earlier, but I can’t be expected to remember everything. Hope that even the scales a bit.

Got a new camera. Sony Cybershopt DSCH9. Very cool camera. It has a Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar 8.1mpx, 15x optical zoom, a 3 inch lcd screen n it has many features lke, multiple face detection, nightshot.. the macro function is really cool..n the camera is so light weighted..ws thinkin of buyin a dslr.. bt thn ive to buy lens etc etc.. ths is good fr a beginner lke me.. hmm since ive nt gone out once i got ths, i cudnt take much snaps.. nw im thinkin which one i shud do.. sketching or fotography .. n wat abt reading?? aah lots of things to do nw.. im quite busy .. hehe
