¿Cuántas veces escuchamos y repetimos chismes? Según la Real Academia de la Lengua Española, la palabra chisme significa: noticia verdadera o falsa, o comentario con que generalmente se pretende indisponer a unas personas con otras o se murmura de alguna. Quiere decir que tan solo la intensión de indisponer a una persona con otra es un chisme, aunque sea cierto lo que se está escuchando o diciendo.

La Palabra dice que:  ”El hombre perverso levanta contienda, y el chismoso aparta a los mejores amigos”. -Proverbios 16:28

Por lo tanto, no malgastemos nuestro tiempo escuchando o repitiendo chismes. En cambio utilicemos el tiempo para enriquecer nuestro conocimiento, y alcanzar la madurez y sabiduría que necesitamos. Amigos, las palabras son poderosas, usémoslas para construir no para destruir y seamos Cristianos en todo momento.

How many times we hear and repeat gossips?  As defined by the Webster Dictionary gossip means:  a person who habitually reveals personal or sensational facts about others.  Gossips are often made to indispose one person with another.

The Word says that:  ”A perverse man stirs up dissension, and a gossip separates close friends”. -Proverbs 16:28

So, let’s not waste our time in hearing or repeating gossips.  Instead, let’s use our time wisely to enrich our knowledge and to reach the maturity and wisdom we need.   Friends, words are very powerful, let’s use them to construct not to destruct and let’s be Christians every moment.

To occupy yourself with or involve yourself in something habitually or compulsively can be defined as a form of addiction and for Christians this shouldn’t be. This is an unnatural obsession with anything other than God: Shopping, surfing the internet, sports, etc; even spending so much time with your family you have no time left in the day for God.

You are to “love the Lord, your God, with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might” (Deuteronomy 6:5), which is, according to Jesus, the first and greatest commandment (Matthew 22:37-38).

So in short an addiction to anything other than God Himself is wrong. We have to learn how to rightly divide our time giving God the devotion he wants without neglecting our daily responsiblities.

This is the first step to breaking any habits that can hinder or harm our relationship with the Lord.
