CLIMATE CHANGE HACKED: A cyclist riding past the cooling tower of a coal-fired power plant. Hackers posted controvercial e-mails of climate change researchers on the Internet, sparking a fresh debate on whether human action is responsible for the phenomenon

Computer hackers have broken into a server at a well respected climate change research centre in Britain and posted hundreds of private e-mails and documents online stoking debate over whether some scientists have overstated the case for man-made climate change.

The University of East Anglia, in eastern England, said in a statement Saturday that the hackers had entered the server and stolen data at its Climatic Research Unit, a leading global research centre on climate change. The university said police are investigating the theft of the information, but could not confirm if all the materials posted online are genuine.

More than a decade of correspondence between leading British and U.S. scientists is included in about 1,000 e-mails and 3,000 documents posted on Web sites following the security breach last week.

Some climate change sceptics and bloggers claim the information shows scientists have overstated the case for global warming, and allege the documents contain proof that some researchers have attempted to manipulate data.

The furore over the leaked data comes weeks before the U.N. climate conference in Copenhagen, when 192 nations will seek to reach a binding treaty to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide and other heat-trapping greenhouse gases worldwide. Many officials including U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon regard the prospects of a pact being sealed at the meeting as bleak.

In one leaked e-mail, the research centre’s director, Phil Jones, writes to colleagues about graphs showing climate statistics over the last millennium. He alludes to a technique used by a fellow scientist to “hide the decline” in recent global temperatures. Some evidence appears to show a halt in a rise of global temperatures from about 1960, but is contradicted by other evidence which appears to show a rise in temperatures is continuing.

Jones wrote that, in compiling new data, he had “just completed Mike’s Nature trick of adding in the real temps to each series for the last 20 years (i.e., from 1981 onwards) and from 1961 for Keith’s to hide the decline,” according to a leaked e-mail, which the author confirmed was genuine.

One of the colleague referred to by Jones Michael Mann, a professor of meteorology at Pennsylvania State University did not immediately respond to requests for comment via telephone and e-mail.

The use of the word “trick” by Jones has been seized on by sceptics who say his e-mail offers proof of collusion between scientists to distort evidence to support their assertion that human activity is influencing climate change.

“Words fail me,” Stephen McIntyre a blogger whose climateaudit.org Web site challenges popular thinking on climate change wrote on the site following the leak of the messages.

However, Jones denied manipulating evidence and insisted his comment had been taken out of context. “The word ‘trick’ was used here colloquially, as in a clever thing to do. It is ludicrous to suggest that it refers to anything untoward,” he said in a statement Saturday.

Jones did not indicate who “Keith” was in his e-mail. Two other American scientists named in leaked e-mails Gavin Schmidt of NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York, and Kevin Trenberth, of the U.S. National Centre for Atmospheric Research, in Colorado did not immediately return requests for comment.

The University of East Anglica said that information published on the Internet had been selected deliberately to undermine “the strong consensus that human activity is affecting the world’s climate in ways that are potentially dangerous.”

“The selective publication of some stolen e-mails and other papers taken out of context is mischievous and cannot be considered a genuine attempt to engage with this issue in a responsible way,” the university said in a statement.

So as you can see, so far right off the get go of this post, you see the possibility already that Global Warming is a fake. Maybe this tiny fact isn’t enough, but is it enough to catch your attention to this post here? Maybe you have heard of Greenpeace and seen Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth” and your a green supporter!

I have something to challenge what you’ve been told about these “theories” by spokes men, and supposedly “Top Scientist”. I have something simple and straight forward about Global Warming, something that can save you much more then you think when you finally come to the conclusion that this balderdash information is wrong and something fishy is taking place globally.

1st off I would like to share a concern with you. Although I’m not an advocate of dirty energy I do support that everyone should have access to energy. If you have been a follower of this site you’ll see I’m in favor of alternative energies, but. Being that the places we’ve been taken by globalist control, there’s been a lot of suppression on alternative energies, that are more price effective and logical for individual home-residence usage.

But since those are not available for mass usage, we have to find a way to use these cheap effective energies in developing countries such as Africa, but I do not support waste dumping in areas not appropriate or cutting down of tree’s or anything of this.

More importantly then any though, is that Global Warming was not created because we we're running into a real problem, the cycles we have seen throughout hundreds of thousands of years shows that what we are dealing with is normal.

So what this really does is just create a scare that claims ‘humans are responsible’ for this damage of the world. By creating this global idea was just to create carbon taxes on you and everything you like and do. Thusly taxing the world, merging further into a one world government. But with such a lie exposed at great speed as this one, this is more damaging then any other front for their agenda. This blow, when it finally hits them will just show more of their fabricated misinformation and more and more people will resist further claims of Global Warming, Terrorist, Al Quaeda, Economic Reasoning or Swine Flu and it will all be tossed under the microscope by independent researchers, such as you, me and others every time they put a new piece on the chess board to challenge true motives of what might be.

One of the leaked climate emails was apparently a press release from “Earth Government” Newsletter dated 27 Mar 2003. The document calls for a ‘democratic’ world government that would amalgamate and reform the prevailing global institutions including the United Nations, IMF, World Bank WTO, NAFTA, FTAA and others “for the good of all.

It further refers to an “Earth Court of Justice to deal with all aspects of the Governance and Management of the Earth.” The document also makes mention of the “Foundation for the new world order, Earth Government” and “The splitting of America into separate independent states living at peace for the good of all.” Is this a revelation of the true intentions of certain environmental advocates, or just one of many emails in the background of calls to “hide the decline” of global temperatures (despite intense claims of global warming).

The recession is creating camaraderie amongst workforces, at the expense of their employers, is the finding of a transatlantic survey. Carried out amongst 600 office workers in Canary Wharf London and Wall Street New York, 41% of workers have already taken sensitive data with them to their new position, whilst a third would pass on company information if it proved useful in getting friends or family a job.

Pilfering data has become endemic in our culture as 85% of people admit they know it’s illegal to download corporate information from their employer but almost half couldn’t stop themselves taking it with them with the majority admitting it could be useful in the future!

However, it would seem employers have only themselves to blame as they appear pretty lackadaisical when it comes to protecting their data from their employees with 57% of respondents stating that it’s become a lot easier to take sensitive information from under their bosses noses this year, up from 29% last year.

Hackers have tried to prove that global warming researchers are manipulating their data, after stealing sensitive e-mails from one of the UK’s leading climate research centres .

More than one thousand e-mails were taken from the University of East Anglia and anonymously posted on a computer server in Russia.

 It’s claimed that these e-mails show scientists manipulated data to boost their argument that human behaviour is behind global warming.

It’s not the kind of publicity supporters of the upcoming United Nations Copenhagen climate summit wanted to see.

Hackers found their way into the computers of the U.K.-based climate center and posted thousands of revealing emails and documents from climate researchers in the U.S. and around the world.  The head of the center said the emails, posted last weekend on a Russian file sharing server,  are authentic but cautioned readers about taking them out of context.

The Wall Street Journal reports the hacked emails are creating a buzz in the scientific world and are raising questions about the ethics of climate researchers who communicated openly about working to silence critics of man-made global warming.

The correspondence between dozens of climate-change researchers, including many in the U.S., illustrates bitter feelings among those who believe human activities cause global warming toward rivals who argue that the link between humans and climate change remains uncertain.

Some emails also refer to efforts by scientists who believe man is causing global warming to exclude contrary views from important scientific publications.

“This is horrible,” said Pat Michaels, a climate scientist at the Cato Institute in Washington who is mentioned negatively in the emails. “This is what everyone feared. Over the years, it has become increasingly difficult for anyone who does not view global warming as an end-of-the-world issue to publish papers. This isn’t questionable practice, this is unethical.”

A friendly AP reporter helps a couple of the climate experts spin their “out of context” emails in a story deemed accurate enough to post on the official UN Climate Change-Copenhagen website.

Les informo que se ha detectado un nuevo virus para los Iphones, desbloqueados.

El gusano que infecta el teléfono celular de Apple fue descubierto al propagarse en Australia; los expertos temen ver más ataques en el futuro; no afecta a equipos que no fueron modificados

El programa cambia el fondo de pantalla tradicional del iPhone por una fotografía de Rick Astley, un cantante inglés de la década de los 80, con el mensaje “ikee nunca te va a abandonar”.

El gusano, conocido como ikee, sólo afecta a los teléfonos desbloqueados (o jail broken), en los que el usuario ha eliminado los mecanismos de protección de Apple para permitir que el aparato pueda ejecutar cualquier software.

Los expertos dicen que el gusano no es dañino, pero que podrían aparecer variantes más maliciosas. “El creador del virus ha publicado el código fuente completo de las cuatro variantes existentes del gusano”, escribió Mikko Hypponen de F-Secure, una empresa de seguridad.

“Esto significa que pronto habrá más virus que podrían tener una carga más desagradable que simplemente cambiar el fondo de pantalla”, agregó.

“Ikee” hasta ahora ha circulado solamente en Australia, donde vive Ashley Town, quien aseguró que creó este gusano para que se debata el tema de la seguridad. El virus puede ser eliminado cambiando la contraseña del teléfono y eliminando algunos archivos.

Algunas estimaciones indican que hasta el 10% de todos los iPhone y los iPod Touch están operando bajo la modalidad “desbloqueada”. Esta práctica permite instalar aplicaciones que no han sido aprobadas por Apple.

Para Graham Cluley, de la firma de seguridad Sophos, “los usuarios del teléfono pueden precipitarse (…) para aumentar la funcionalidad que Apple les puede haber negado, pero si lo hacen sin cuidado también corren el riesgo de que su iPhone se convierta en el blanco de un hacker”.

“Mi predicción es que quizá veamos más ataques como éste en el futuro”, agregó Cluley

El nuevo ataque se basa en un ‘software’ que se instala en una PC o en un iPhone y luego, por medio de Wi-Fi, busca los celulares vulnerables en la zona. Una vez detectados, se conecta con ellos y se roba los contactos, mensajes de texto, correos electrónicos, fotos, música y videos almacenados en el celular.

De la misma forma que el primer gusano, este nuevo virus ataca los teléfonos que han sido desbloqueados (jailbroken, en la jerga) y que tengan Secure Shell (SSH, por sus siglas en inglés) instalado con la contraseña predeterminada.

La primera medida de protección, si usted tiene un iPhone desbloqueado y con SSH instalado es cambiar la contraseña predeterminada para las cuentas root y mobile.

So, if we show Keith’s series in this plot, we have to comment that “something else” is responsible for the discrepancies in this case. Otherwise, the skeptics have an field day casting doubt on our ability to understand the factors that influence these estimates and, thus, can undermine faith in the paleoestimates.

iPhone Users get all Rick-rolled up their Faces

A bored Australian student decided to teach people who don’t set the passwords on their iPhones a lesson. He programmed a little virus that caused pictures of Rick Astley to show up on users’ screens. The virus also displayed a message saying, “Ikee never gonna give you up” – a reference to the student’s Twitter name @ikeeex.

Nothing bad happened apart from that, but Sophos security experts are warning that now the source code for iPhone viruses is out there, it won’t be long before more malicious examples start finding their way out.

In the Netherlands last week a more enterprising Dutch coder hijacked iPhones and demanded a small fee for their release. Probably a better use of people’s time than hitting them with a year old meme.

Apple have prided themselves on their reputation for security but these cases show that once any platform becomes popular enough, it’s worth hackers targeting them.
