Its been a pretty hectic month, especially with the Holidays coming up and trying to get new items out before then!

Are you looking for a gift for a 21^st birthday girl? Maybe it is time to do away with those conventional present such as photo album, vouchers or maybe a pendant that resembles a key shape (many in Singapore believe that 21^st birthday is a year whereby it is the key to freedom, therefore traditionally, people buy key shape pendant as a birthday present). Design Template

Citrus Alley - Custom Header

Citrus Alley has a good design template. It has attractive pictures, good colour combinations, easy to navigate around and it is pleasing to my eyes. The custom header changes with the different navigation tab (which means you get to see a different apparel each time you click the different navigation tab). Navigation tabs were clear and they even had a shopping cart available. It helps ease the hassle of calculation because all you need to do is to click “Add to cart”, choose the quantity and there you go. On the right column of the page you can see the item that you have chosen and the cost of it. Great! You no longer have to have a calculator beside you and a pen to remember the item you have chosen. What could have been improved was to allow removal of an item from the shopping cart before checking out because that there were no way I could remove an item from my cart unless I proceed to the check out corner.

Focus and content of the blogshop

There was clear description on what they aim to do. Catchy sub-headers were used so that you want to read on more. From their description, their collection mainly comprises of girly blouses, vintage pieces, contemporary apparels, simple, sweet and chic dresses, one-of-a-kind pieces, accessories, and bags. They claim that there is a style to suit everybody too. They have met most of their description except I have yet to see much item that is suitable for my style and for my work. But other then that, their collection is suitable for a 21^st birthday present because the designs were fashionable and images were taken well.

 On another note, I was disappointed because I had wanted to find a particular blouse that the model was wearing on one of their custom header but I could not find it anywhere in their collection. I noticed that there were few others that were not available too. It would have made the blogshop better if what was shown on the custom header is included in their collection too.

If time and convenience is a factor for you, Citrus Alley may be your potential best deal. As I have not bought any item from them at the moment, it is for me just a nice deal and I can’t comment on their service or quality of the items. It is a blogshop pretty to browse for fashion trend/ideas, somewhere to perk my day because the models have great smile and poise that makes me feel very comfortable and convinced that they are very comfortable in the item that they are modeling for.

I didn’t know what to call it, lol. If your curls are a little bit more defined or fresh, this would like awesome at a special occasion, going out, or where ever you feel comfortable wearing the style.

It seems as though a lot of brides these days are looking for a little extra touch for their hair on the wedding day.  Some choose to use fresh flowers, which are beautiful. However, fresh flowers are obviously only good on the wedding day.

Another idea is to use a hair pin.  There are hair pins that have jewels and rhinstones on them, but I personally think these ones with the flowers are just divine!  As always, you can purchase one on Etsy – a site I always recommend.  There are so many options there, including every color imaginable.  Here are some of my favorites and links to the stores!

i cleaned off my dresser this morning. i had no idea that 2 girls could own so many hair-pins. they better stay in their little box on the windowsill from now on. (yes, i am talking to you Miss Tandy…). i found a lot of adorable knick-knacks as i cleaned. such sweet little things. i also came across a lot of trash that promptly went into the wastebasket. it was mostly Goodwill tags and such….

i would make pancakes tomorrow morning, but i can’t. i have somewhere “lovely” to be at 7 o’clock. so i do believe i shall make gnocchi for supper instead. that will be fun. maybe Miss Tandy and i will wear some spiffy dresses and red lips and aprons and make us some of those little delights. i ♥ gnocchi. i love it to death. that’s why i eat it. *wink*

today i wished for a coat rack to hang up all Miss Tandy’s hats and our peacoats. and i wished for a shelf for all my little darling books. i wished for S.Pellegrino. and a painting easel. i wished a lot today.

i told Miss Tandy this scrumptious tale about a rich boy and a poor boy who were both in love with a girl named Josephine and she couldn’t decide which one to marry. i asked Miss Tandy which one she would marry, and she asked me which one would lie in the road with her. i told her the poor boy would take her to his home-town and find the most adorable old street and lie in it and stargaze with her. and then i told her the rich boy would buy her a street and name it after her and lie in it night after night with her. she asked me what it would be like if she chose the rich boy. i told her they would be utterly happy and he would give her everything in the world and tell her he loved her every night as they ate pancakes at 2 o’clock in the morning on his marble floors after dancing for 3 hours in his kitchen. and the poor boy would grow his field of flowers day after day and spend his nights crying himself to sleep at his small table because she said no. then she asked me what it would be like if she chose the poor boy. i told her they would love each other to death and he would hold her hand every minute of the day and she would wake up with a bouquet of flowers by her head every morning and he would tell her she was his world as they sat in his one cherry tree together and laughed. and the rich boy would spend the rest of his life walking around his house barefoot thinking of her -and the way she said no- even though he could have any other girl in the world.

Miss Tandy told me she wanted to slap my face and that she couldn’t ever choose. i like her answer. i think it’s cute to put her in such a dilemma.

(i read part of Tess of the D’Urbervilles today. i love.love.love that book. so sweet. Angel Clare is my favourite. i love the part about his first time kissing Tess. i read that part over and over. that, and the part where he carries her across the little flooded pond to church. now there is a sweet young man. carries three girls just to carry the fourth. devotion. that’s the only word for it. that, and love.)

Seriously, every time a female comes to visit for a significant amount of time, be they friend, relation or ’special friend’, I’m left with those things scattered hither and tither about the place. They must fulfill their function extremely well, because I’ve only ever seen them left behind on a chair, table or bathroom shelf, never on a person as such.

And there are so many of them, always discarded without a thought.

They are definitely a by-product of the female form, no one would purchase that many of them.

I wonder what the heck they are.

Puthumandapam area in Madurai

After a long time I and my wife went to shopping in our Puthumandapam area in Madurai. It was a pleasant evening time. We parked our two wheeler out side that area and started walking in side the Puthumandapam.

First thing we saw  some of the tailors were busy in stitching different kinds of cloths ranging from school uniforms to drama dresses.

We bought five small size note book for Alan and to our church in Madurai form a book store. Pastor Sekar had a plan to distribute note books to a nearby village. So every family has to bring notebooks equals to the number of people in their house.

One section of the Puthumandapam is completely covered with fancy stores. The names of the shops were ranging from south Indian name to north Indian names. And most of the fancy stores were covered by village people and tourist as well.

Fancy stores were busy in selling bangles, sticker kungkunm, hair bands, ribbons, ready made mehandi, gold covering necklaces, chains, ear buds, colorful threads, naphthalene balls, hair pins, pouches, and etc,.

Next section of the Puthumandapam is covered with book selling shops. We bought a book about how to do different shapes and things using color papers  (origami – The Japanese art of folding paper into shapes representing objects ,  e.g., flowers or birds).

Another section of the Puthumandapam is covered with lots shops with silver vessels. You will find all sort of vessels which is needed in a marriage. All the shops were inside the temple campus and all the shops uses lights in the day time itself.

After we finished purchasing from that area, we came out of Puthumandapam. One lady was selling the famous Madurai Jasmin Flowers

I’ve never been a huge fan of espadrilles. I bought a pair of red wedges at mini market in Brooklyn a few years back and only ended up wearing them once… which was on the day that I bought them. In a recent craze of getting rid of the unnecessaries, I threw them out. That’s okay. Perhaps I can replace them with Tsumori Chisato’s version of the espadrille. My friends, meet Tsumori Chisato’s purple flower espadrille sandals. I think they would match perfectly with my pale purple AA getup and these pretty little Rachel Comey hair pins.

Today’s theme is Skull University, lol, because I said so! Skulls have always been icons in my life/house, partially because I was born on Dia de los Muertos, so I’ll always have a soft spot for skulls and skeletons.
 

First up is the Seal of Skull U Necklace, which comes with a mystery gift, yay! I also added a set of Skull Squad Hair Pins that are backed with super holographic silver glitter. I gave my Dad’s girlfriend a set of these for her birthday and they were a hit lol!

I wanted to add some sweet, Spring type items to the ZLY Shop today since Easter is such a distinctly Spring holiday. You can also see I’m still on my accessories kick ;3
 

The Peach Daisy Ring is utterly sweet, though I’ve always had a fondness for Gerbera daisies (which are the 5th most popular cut flower per Wikipedia btw). The Mint Heart Hair Pins are something I’ve been meaning to make for a while, I think the heart cabs would look particularly adorable as hair pins, and I’m really happy with how they came out. Plus the peach and mint look really nice together, I think, so yay for that!

One suggestion that I get consistently is that I need to add more variety of items (ie: rings, bracelets, hair pins) to the shop, so today we have a very girlie answer to that cry ;3 the Sweet Lolita Ring Set!
 

I’ve also added two sets of Princess Hair Pins :3 they’re very similar except the shape of the mirror and the color of the pony’s mane.

So I’ve come to the realization today, as I look around my studio, that something’s got to give. I think my backlog of items if over 50 strong with, no lie, over 20 new items curing on my work table. Am I a madwoman? ;3 Anyway, I’ve decided to start adding more items, so every day, blog or no, a (larger) batch of new things will go up in the Zombukis Love You shop. Today’s theme is animal :3 featuring four random animal themed items and the return of the much loved hair pin set. Hurray!

Also, I want to thank everyone for the (ongoing) suggestions on the Laina Giveaway, I’m taking note of all of them and, as you can see above, adding more variety is something I’m definitely going to focus on!

I love my home. Although we don’t own the house we live in, we rent it ,(because we are only living temporarily in Holland), it is still a beautiful large and spacious house. There are a number of items around our home which I love, they are things picked up on our travels around the world or are gifts from loved ones. Things which you would hate to lose, or damage. I thought it would be nice to share a few of those things over the coming months.

One of my most favourite items is this

I bought it with some money left by my maternal Grandparents, which in itself makes it a treasured item.

There is a shop in Singapore called Framing Angie, and when we lived there, I would spend so much time walking around an admiring all the beautiful items in her shop. She and her team have incredible talent with taking ordinary items and framing them so they look extraordinary. One day we were in the shop organising to get an aboriginal piece of art framed which we had brought back from some travels to Australia, when these Peranakan hair pins caught my eye. I fell in love and they have taken pride of place in each house we have lived in since then. Apparently they are nearly 100 years old and are made from bronze jade, and the wealthy Paranakan women would have had long dark hair which they would pin up with hair pins like these. LOVE them!
