Nihon ráérősen csoszogott az ajtóhoz, amint megkopogtatták az ajtófélfát. Még gyorsan végigfutott tekintete a ház berendezésén és díszein, hogy minden tökéletes-e, és miután sokadszorra is megfelelőnek találta, aprót biccentett saját magának, és kitárta az ajtót.
- Trick or treat! – kiáltotta azonnal Igirisu, ahogy szabaddá vált előtte az út. Nihon tartózkodóan elmosolyodott, és szája elé emelte egyik kezét, amire rálógott barnásszürke kimonója ujja.
- Azt hiszem, inkább, treat, Boszorkány-san – felelte vidáman. – Fáradj beljebb!
Igirisu hetykén kihúzta magát halloweeni boszorkány-jelmezében. Széles karimájú, fekete csúcsos sapka volt a fején, mely alól huncutul elővillantak mézszőke tincsei, vállára hosszú, fekete palást borult, nyakában megkötve, mely takarta egész alakját. Szemeinek smaragdzöld ragyogása egyszerűen tökéletessé tették az összképet.
- Köszönöm kedvességed, és meghívásod örömmel elfogadom, Rókaszellem úr – hajolt meg kissé, elegánsan Igirisu a kimonójához narancsvörös rókafüleket és farkat viselő Nihon előtt. A japán kuncogott, és a terített, alacsony asztalhoz vezette vendégét.
- Foglalj helyet, kérlek – mutatott a fekete ülőpárnákra.
- A kalapom maradhat? – kérdezte az angol, megérintve a szóban forgó, tekintélyes méretű süveget.
- Természetesen, Boszorkány-san – felelte Nihon. – Máris hozok egy kis teát – tette hozzá. Igirisu kényelmesen elhelyezkedett törökülésbe rendezett lábakkal, merengve nézett a másik után, amíg az el nem tűnt, aztán végignézett a szobán. Minden sötétítő be volt húzva, a falak fekete vászonnal befedve, töklámpások és mécsesek narancssárga, sápatag, ingadozó fénye világított csak. Előtte az asztalkán narancssárga terítő díszelgett, rajta két kis tál, az egyikben egy kupac mandarin illatozott, a másikban csokoládé volt. Elmosolyodott. Nihon igazán kitett magáért, káprázatos hangulatot teremtett.
- Min töprengsz, Boszorkány-san? – hallotta meg a csendes kérdést, ami kiszakította gondolataiból. Amikor felnézett, szemével a japán karcsú alakját keresve, akkor koppant halkan előtte a gőzölgő, illatos teával telt csésze alja az asztalon. Felemelte a kezeit, és mindkét tenyerét rászorítva, ujjait a csésze köré fonta. Nihon leült mellé.
- Csupán tetszik az otthonod, Rókaszellem úr. Csinos – felelte, és kezdte kicsit zavarban érezni magát a japán közelségétől. Lehunyt szemmel a csésze fölé hajolt, hogy mélyen beszívja a narancsos tea illatát, hogy az megnyugtassa, de csatlakozott hozzá néhány mécses fanyarsága, és Nihon édes illata is. Mélyet sóhajtott, és mosolyogva ismét végigpillantott a szobán.
- Mesés ez az este…
- Engem te varázsoltál el, Boszorkány-san… – búgta Nihon, sötét pillantását mélyen a smaragd szemekbe fúrva. Igirisu szíve zakatolni kezdett, hevesen vergődött mellkasa börtönében, a hasában pillangók születtek és szerte repültek teste minden szegletébe; azt hitte, menten elájul. Nihon flörtöl vele?! Izgalmában megremegett a szája széle, és kitartóan a teájába meredt, hogy magához térjen. A japán közelebb húzódott, szinte teljesen hozzásimult. Igirisu érezte, hogy a forró lehelet megborzongatja a bőrét. A japán felé fordult.
- Nih… Nihon… – nyögte.
- Úgy tudom… a mai este különleges… – duruzsolta, és felkönyökölve az asztalra kinyújtotta mutatóujját, és az angol álla alá támasztotta. Igirisu némán beszívta a levegőt.
- Valóban az – felelte, és pajkosan elmosolyodott. – Mikor szándékozol eleget tenni a szerződés rád eső felének? – kérdezte szórakozottan.
- Szerződés? – vonta fel a szemöldökét csodálkozva a japán.
- „Trick or treat”. Te azt mondtad, treat, Rókaszellem úr. Szóbeli szerződést kötöttünk. Nincs csalás és trükk, ha kapok cserébe valamit – magyarázta vidáman mosolyogva, miközben gyengéden végigsimított Nihon puha kezén, és ujjait lassan a japán ujjai közé csúsztatta. Szabad kezével Kiku álla alá nyúlt, és finoman közelebb húzta magához. Nihon lélegzete felgyorsult Arthur mámorító közelségétől. Ajkai várakozóan, enyhén elváltak egymástól.
- Szemtelenül a legédesebbet és legértékesebbet kérem fizetségül… – suttogta Igirisu, lassan egyre közeledve a megilletődéstől és zavartól kipirult archoz. Lehunyta a szemét, érezte, hogy Nihon szapora lélegzete perzseli a bőrét, a következő pillanatban pedig forró ajkai beborították a japánét. Néhány végtelennek tűnő másodpercig tartott csupán. Kiku megtörte a csókot, de pilláit nem nyitotta fel, halkan, mélyet sóhajtott, és az angol ajkai után kapott a szájával.

Even though we are going out of business, things keep arriving! We had a large shipment on Friday and another arrived today, Monday! Friday’s shipment includes more Christmas items, and even some Halloween stuff, plus some lovely gift items. Today’s shipment so far has included some very nice frames. We’ve been a little short on picture frames so this should round out the inventory nicely. I’ll try to snap some pix today and post a few of the items. The sales continue brisk and stock is very low on many items.
If you love giving the Joan Baker painted glass items, there are very few left. There is one big one only and less than a dozen of the small ones. Yankee Candles are also starting to thin out. Like I always say, if you see it and you love it, and there is only one or two left, grab it!

Alla fine dell’autunno, quel seme che febbrilmente si è ridestato trema al giungere del freddo gelido che sta per arrivare, ci vuole un fuoco sacro che lo riscaldi, che lo faccia rimanere in vita, ci vuole volontà entusiasmo ,voglia di vita, fiducia ,speranza e ottimismo per proiettarlo nel futuro, si deve guardare all’impossibile e il miracolo si porta avanti, Sagittario il segno della buona sorte per il futuro

L’autunno si è consolidato nello Scorpio che nel mito della rinascita consacra il seme ad essere di nuovo vitale ,ma i pericoli per la sopravvivenza sono tanti, ci vuole destrezza e capacità di lungimiranza per poter trasportare questo seme integro e fermentato affinchè si possa riprodurre nuovamente in primavera, ormai la natura si è abituata alle poche ore di luce, tutto sembra svolgersi nel naturale sistema, ma non si deve perdere di vista l’obiettivo principale… far trascorre il mese di dicembre nel modo che il seme possa rivedere un po’ di luce e riscaldarsi anche tiepidamente, infatti piano piano un filo di luce in più c’è, lo si vede nella proiezione dello Zenit, che il Sagittario dal suo magico binocolo inquadra prima che altri lo vedano.

Anticamente veniva chiamata così la costellazione del Sagittario , Arciere, perchè non era completamente visibile in quanto addombrata dallo Scorpione, una volta divenuta visibile anche la parte animalesca del segno zodiacale la sua costellazione fu chiamata Sagittario, in onore del mito del Centauro più importante, Chirone.

Chirone, da Chiros, mano, ben esplica il lato più nobile dei Centauri, era un centauro colto e raffinato maestro nella guarigione attraverso i medicamenti e insegnate delle arti più complesse come la musica, Chirone era il più evoluto dei Centauri e si dice fosse nato da Cronos, era riuscito attraverso la sua saggezza e capacità manuale a conoscere tutti i misteri della natura al fine di guarire l’umanità, c’è da sottolineare però che gli altri centauri, tra cui il più noto Issione, erano dei soggetti poco evoluti e dediti al bere e alla violenza, fu in uno di questi banchetti che Chirone fu colpito nella sua parte animalesca da una freccia avvelenata ma siccome era metà immortale ,essendo nato da Cronos, da quella ferita mortale non guarì , ma non poteva neppure morire, allora Zeus mosso a riconoscenza per i servizi resi in qualità di medico musico ed insegnante lo immortalò nel cielo facendo nascere così la costellazione del Sagittario.

Questo mito ci insegna il lato generoso di alcuni soggetti nati nel Sagittario e della loro stessa propensione a guarire il prossimo e alla conoscenza della natura attraverso la cura con erbe, medicamenti alternativi etc..ma lo stesso mito ci dice che quesgli istinti animaleschi , presenti nel segno, possono essere anche degenerativi, come i centauri meno evoluti e dediti alle passioni più sfrenate, questa è la continua lotta del Sagittario o dar sfogo agli istinti più bassi e primordiali oppure evolversi a gran Maestro.

Molti Sagittario sono portati per l’insegnamento, infatti il loro simbolismo sottace anche alla voce, Zeus pianeta governatore del segno, era conosciuto anche come portatore di tuoni e fulmini nel momento della giustizia, e il tuono veniva emesso dalla voce altisonante di Zeus.

Pur guardando lontano il Sagittario cerca sempre di uniformarsi alle leggi che regolano la natura, abbracciando sempre situazioni che lo portano alla legalità e alla giustizia, la sua capacità di guardare lontano lo porta a viaggiare ad esplorare e conoscere anche quello che generalmente non è conoscibile, viaggiatori nati, sportivi, atleti,,religiosi, politici,ambasciatori.

Non può stare fermo, come anche il Gemelli, deve viaggiare, pensare, capire filosofeggiare, deve immaginare, fantasticare, sognare, prevedere, studiare, leggere,avventurarsi.

Ma nel suo voler conoscere a volte pecca di ingenuità ed eccesso di fiducia, partendo dal presupposto che gli altri siano tutti leali, sinceri etc..

Questo suo essere a volte troppo credulone gli sovviene dal fatto che essendo un segno ottimista e portatore di quel seme fermentato non può soffermarsi a valutare troppo attentamente tutte le situazioni se no perde l’entusiasmo e la capacità di fiducia che il seme nasca nonostante le situazioni avverse, è la stessa speranza che lo deve portare ad essere superficiale nei confronti dell’ambiente.

Nel fenomeno profetico che si sta verificando in maggio abbiamo i tre simboli del Sagittario Chirone un asteroide, Nettuno e Giove che si sono allineati in congiunzione nel segno zodiacale dell’Aquario, a pochissimi gradi ,quattro per Nettuno e Chirone e sei per Giove dal segno dei Pesci, di cui i due pianeti sono governatori, ma se si pensa che Nettuno pianeta dei Pesci e dell’insolito e inusuale e della metamorfosi manca da circa 144 anni dal segno dei Pesci e tale congiunzione così stretta tra Nettuno e Chirone si è avuta solo nel 1900 ,qualcosa di magico sta per accadere tenendo presente che in questo momento il 7 maggio la Luna è in Bilancia e trigona questi pianeti e Mercurio è appena entrato in Gemelli altro segno d’aria con Marte in Ariete reggitore del segno che andrà a formare fra circa quindici giorni un sestile magnifico con tali pianeti e Mercurio idem in trigonatura.

Scoperta di qualcosa di nascosto e insolito, i Pesci a cui Nettuno è ormai in congiunzione, Chirone la mano, la medicina la musica, la guarigione, che mi porta a pensare e qualcosa di scritto che concerne un rimedio per la salute o una terapia musicale o un linguaggio sconosciuto decifrato attraverso i sonar dei delfini.

C’è da dire anche, che essendo un segno appartenente alla triplicità dell’elemento fuoco, a volte la sua stessa esuberanza lo danneggia e deve correre ai ripari, ecco che qui interviene il mito di Zeus Semele e Dionisio.

Zeus è noto per le sue scappatelle, così anche il Sagittario, più per voglia di conoscere altra gente che per necessità impellente, anche se la sua parte animalesca lo porta verso l’istinto sessuale da soddisfare.

Il mito di Semele la Dea governatrice del Sagittario la dice lunga su questo segno, Zeus si era invaghito di Semele figlia di Armomia e Cadmo, ma siccome la moglie di Zeus, mal sopportava che il marito avesse come amante Semele, le tese un inganno, Semele giaceva con Zeus ogni volta senza poterlo mai vedere in volto, se l’avesse fatto sarebbe morta, allora Era con un raggiro fece si che Semele guardasse Zeus in volto e la poverina una volta visto il volto del Dio ,fu presa dalla paura e dallo stupore che fu innondata da un fulmine di Zeus e morì arsa dal fuoco, ma nel frattempo era rimasta incinta , ed essendo morta e finita nell’Ade quella creatura non sarebbe mai ritornata alla luce, allora Zeus prese il bambino e se lo conficco nella coscia e lo fece nascere, era il Dio Dionisio che poi riuscì a far resuscitare la mare Semele.

Semele il lato ingenuo e puro del Sagittario, Zeus il lato autoritario e importante del segno, Dionisio il lato ludico e vizioso del segno, ma tutta la vicenda ci dice anche che questo segno è capace di far nascere il seme primaverile, trasportato dall’autunno dell’uva dionisiaca, attraverso un atto miracoloso e di salvataggio , quindi quella fiducia ,quell’ingenuità di Semele pur portandola alla morte la fa risorgere, da ciò si capisce che malgrado tutto il Sagittario deve avere fiducia perchè se la cava sempre.

Well, I’m awful. Halloween was nearly a month ago and I have yet to write about it. Major creativity points to everyone who showed up to the King Castle that night – Kanye & TayTay, Laura Croft: Tomb Raider, Sandy from Grease, Bumblebee from Transformers, Sherlock Holmes, Carmen Sandiego, a flapper, Air Bison, Willverine, an iPhone, the FBI, pirates and even a coloring book complete with Crayola crayon made an appearance.

Perhaps the rowdiest – and the rudest - of attendees was Bon Qui Qui, who was able to get off work at the King Burger for the evening. The Out of the Hood Program seems to be completely ineffective, and even with Mr. Williams there to keep her under lockdown, sa-kurity was called at least a dozen times. Notable incidents include a 20’s style flapper girl trying to “get loud with her” and Sherlock having a complicated order – he got a Coke. Bon Qui Qui had a change of heart, however, when a pirate pair showed up (oh girl, I didn’t know you come here!) and spurred Bon Qui Qui to do a pretty sick King Burger rap. Rude.

Party attendees were also treated to the Bumblebee crump, and an incredibly rare appearance by an Air Bison. Both once thought to be legends came out in full force this evening and Six.Pack Productions was there to capture it on film. View at your own risk.

Pur guardando lontano il Sagittario cerca sempre di uniformarsi alle leggi che regolano la natura, abbracciando sempre situazioni che lo portano alla legalità e alla giustizia, la sua capacità di guardare lontano lo porta a viaggiare ad esplorare e conoscere anche quello che generalmente non è conoscibile, viaggiatori nati, sportivi, atleti,,religiosi, politici,ambasciatori.

Questo suo essere a volte troppo credulone gli sovviene dal fatto che essendo un segno ottimista e portatore di quel seme fermentato non può soffermarsi a valutare troppo attentamente tutte le situazioni se no perde l’entusiasmo e la capacità di fiducia che il seme nasca nonostante le situazioni avverse, è la stessa speranza che lo deve portare ad essere superficiale nei confronti dell’ambiente.

C’è da dire anche, che essendo un segno appartenente alla triplicità dell’elemento fuoco, a volte la sua stessa esuberanza lo danneggia e deve correre ai ripari, ecco che qui interviene il mito di Zeus Semele e Dionisio.

Zeus è noto per le sue scappatelle, così anche il Sagittario, più per voglia di conoscere altra gente che per necessità impellente, anche se la sua parte animalesca lo porta verso l’istinto sessuale da soddisfare.

Il mito di Semele la Dea governatrice del Sagittario la dice lunga su questo segno, Zeus si era invaghito di Semele figlia di Armomia e Cadmo, ma siccome la moglie di Zeus, mal sopportava che il marito avesse come amante Semele, le tese un inganno, Semele giaceva con Zeus ogni volta senza poterlo mai vedere in volto, se l’avesse fatto sarebbe morta, allora Era con un raggiro fece si che Semele guardasse Zeus in volto e la poverina una volta visto il volto del Dio ,fu presa dalla paura e dallo stupore che fu innondata da un fulmine di Zeus e morì arsa dal fuoco, ma nel frattempo era rimasta incinta , ed essendo morta e finita nell’Ade quella creatura non sarebbe mai ritornata alla luce, allora Zeus prese il bambino e se lo conficco nella coscia e lo fece nascere, era il Dio Dionisio che poi riuscì a far resuscitare la mare Semele.

Semele il lato ingenuo e puro del Sagittario, Zeus il lato autoritario e importante del segno, Dionisio il lato ludico e vizioso del segno, ma tutta la vicenda ci dice anche che questo segno è capace di far nascere il seme primaverile, trasportato dall’autunno dell’uva dionisiaca, attraverso un atto miracoloso e di salvataggio , quindi quella fiducia ,quell’ingenuità di Semele pur portandola alla morte la fa risorgere, da ciò si capisce che malgrado tutto il Sagittario deve avere fiducia perchè se la cava sempre.

Where I've Been

Well, it’s been a while.

My last post on this blog was on Halloween. My latest post on any of my blogs is from November 3. While they’ve been stagnant, none of these blogs have been abandoned. I just want to make that clear. Life happens, and things like this get put aside until they can be taken up again.

I’m not going to go into a large amount of detail here, but I wanted to let everyone know why the blogs have been largely ignored. Here’s a bit of what’s been going on (in no particular order):

Work: As the conference season draws to a close, my work schedule has been sporadic. Some weeks we’re really busy, others we’re really not. And with our crew of four being cut in half (one transferred to another location, the other was in a pretty bad car accident), I’ve been stepping up to fill those gaps.
Google Wave: As reported in my last post, I got an invitation to the preview of Google’s new Wave application. I’ve been excited about Wave ever since I saw the long video of the conference where it was announced. The biggest problem with Wave is that there are many aspects that are not intuitive. I guess that’s what happens when you’re trying to redesign something. It makes sense when you think about it. Anyway, I’ve been putting in a good amount of time trying to figure it out, and see how I can put it to use.
Family: Family life can be taxing. It’s just that simple. But when you add on a child that’s getting sent home from school three days a week, things are a little more trying. The poor kid has been in weekly play therapy, weekly group therapy, monthly visits to another shrink, and bounced from one medication to another by his pediatrician. This is all in addition to his physical ailments, which range from allergies to seizures. And no one has been able to determine what’s wrong (and something most definitely is wrong). The other child has been involved with a theatre/clowning/Shakespeare class, which, while it doesn’t cause any problems, does take a few hours out of every week to get her to and from class.
The Scare Game: The last week has seen the sudden kick-off of filming the second episode of this web series, and this week likely sees the shooting of episode three. With everything else, I haven’t been able to participate as much as I would like, but it’s still something I’m excited about, and something to which I’m willing to dedicate whatever time I can. I’m also (as you’ve seen in part here) blogging, tweeting, and now waving to spread the word-of-mouth about this show.

Going into the holiday season of Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Year’s, I can’t say how active I’ll be, but I hope you keep checking back, or follow me on Twitter so you can see when I’ve posted another blog, or subscribe to the RSS feed for this and my other blogs. I’ve got a lot to write about, and a lot of things I’ve found that I want to share. I just need the time to do so.

ELON, N. C..—On the last day of school before Halloween you might expect to see people in outrageous costumes walking around campus. But the spooky spirit isn’t very visible at Elon University, most students wait to until night falls to who dress up.

Thank goodness the lunch ladies in McEwen dining hall are picking up the slack.

Although Aramark, the university’s food service, hosts a competition every Halloween, awarding workers with $50 gift certificates to Wal-mart for the most original or scariest costume, the lunch ladies don’t get gussied up for the money. They don crazy costumes for the students.

“I always dress up because of the kids, they love it,” says Judy Tillotson, who dressed up as a witch. “I buy bags of candy and hand them out— lunch just started and I’m almost out!”

Susan Turner decided to sport mismatched socks and shoes, for a very tongue-in-cheek. “I just went home last night and thought, ‘What the heck,’” she laughs. “I should be a bum!’”

Another silly costume was complete with a black eye. “I’m a UFC fighter,” laughs Katherine Lakins, as she flexes her muscles. “I’ve got the black eye and everything.”

Students get a kick out of seeing their friendly lunch ladies in costume having a good time.

“I love when the lunch ladies dress up,” says Luke Lovett. “They bring so much to the atmosphere. A few weeks ago they dressed up for ‘70s night and danced around—it was so much fun.”

But perhaps the best costume struts by with cheetah heels and fabulous ‘80s “I’m a sassy cave woman!” yells Jean Johnson. She shows off her cheetah print high heels and grins. “Don’t you love my hair?

Winchester Mystery House

The Winchester Mystery House was bought by Sarah Winchester, as a normal house, around 1884. She was the widow of William Wirt Winchester, who had been the second president of the Winchester Repeating Arms Company and only son of the company’s owner. When he died, at the age of 44 in 1881, she was grief stricken. Having already lost her only child to marasmus in the 1860s. Believing her family to be cursed she consulted a medium who, it is said, told her that the spirits of the people who had been killed by the winchester rifle were many and they wanted vengeance. The medium told her she had to move west, she originally lived in Connecticutt, buy a house and begin continuous construction on it so that she and the spirits could live in it. She was never to stop building on the house and if she did, she would die. She followed what she had been told, buying the house and beginning work on it immediately. She had an income, from her husband’s death and owning half of the Winchester Repeating Arms Company, that gave her the rough equivalent of $22,000 (£13,262) a day. The house was originally an 8 room farmhouse that stood on 162 acres in what is now San Jose, California. Construction work began on the house and continued for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for the next 38 years. When Sarah Winchester died in 1922 at the age of 83 work on the house immediately ceased. The house itself is set out in such an odd way that certain doors open onto walls and has staircases that lead nowhere. It is claimed this was ordered by Mrs Winchester so that the spirits would get lost in the house. Staff also needed maps to find their way around. There are around 160 rooms including 40 bedrooms, 10,000 window panes, 7 chimneys, 2 basements, 3 elevators and 2 ballrooms. The number 13 also features heavily in the house. It once reached 7 storeys high but following damage in the 1906 earthquake it is now 4 storeys. The total cost of the building work has been estimated at around $5.5 million ($70 million; £42,079,285 in 2008) After her death she left the contents of the house to her niece. It reportedly took the removers eight trucks a day for six and a half weeks to empty it. Today it is a tourist attraction, it is said to be haunted, and is open every day except for Christmas. Thanksgiving Trick or Treat

Before candy for Trick or Treat there were coins. And before Trick or Treat for Halloween there was Thanksgiving. This is the story.

Up until the Depression, Thanksgiving was celebrated by the kids of New York in a way that looked more like Mardi Gras than Macy’s Parade. Kids would mask and dress up, scrounging for old dresses and top hats or improvising a hobgoblin or clown, blacken their faces with cork, and run the streets “mumming.” We don’t have much mummery today, but it involved music and performance and coins:

To the tune of mouth harps, comb and tissue paper and other childish instruments, or just a whistle, pigeon wings are cut, hand springs are turned songs are rendered and breakdowns executed, in keen competition for “something for Thanksgiving.”

Typically, onlookers would reward the “ragamuffins” with a penny or nickel. Some would shower coins from the overlooking windows, but there was a catch:

They used to heat the pennies on the stove or over the gas and they’d drop ’em out the window and when we kids picked ’em up we got our fingers burned. I remember how my fingers got blistered that way. But they don’t have any real fun like that anymore.

Children weren’t just roaming the streets begging pennies. What was especially annoying was their “practice of ringing all the doorbells and demanding backsheesh.” By 1930, New York’s Superintendent of Schools was publicly condemning the Thanksgiving begging, calling it a “serious annoyance to householders” and encouraging school principles and teachers to instruct students in the origins, meaning, and proper observance of Thanksgiving. Between official disapproval and the low mood and tight purse brought on by the Depression, Thanksgiving mummery disappeared in the late 1930s.

But dressing up and going about ringing doorbells and “demanding backsheesh” didn’t disappear; it just moved to Halloween. We call it “trick or treating.”

In 1950, a Miami woman was prosecuted for “torturing and tormenting” children at Halloween. When a band of youngsters arrived at her house yelling “Trick or Treat,” she invited them in. She disappeared for a few minutes, then returned with a pan in her hand. “Here’s how we treat on Halloween in New York,” she screeched, as she tossed hot coins in the air. The kids dived for the money. Moments later, they ran out of the house screaming.

Halloween Bus Party

This past Halloween I embarked in a journey dubbed “The Halloween Bus Party.” The Halloween Bus Party is held every Halloween, and is exactly what the name entails. It is a procession of buses that ferry drunk-asses around the greater St. Louis area to different bars. Each bus is packed full of alcohol, including a cooler of beer, hundreds of jello shots, and jungle juice. In theory, this is brilliant. No risk of driving while intoxicated and everyone has alcohol provided between bars.

We started out at The Atomic Cowboy and signed in and got our passes. After this, all hell broke loose. We filled the buses and immediately began pounding beer and jello shots. Before we even got to the first bar, the Trainwreck in Westport Plaza, a girl on our bus had vomited. The whole bus reeked of regurgitated beer. Not pleasant. Come to find out, it could have been a lot worse, someone on one of the other buses decided to just go ahead and urinate on the the bus on the way there. A public school kindergarten field trip to the zoo is better behaved than this group.

At the Trainwreck, 100+ people in costumes filed into this bar and immediately began harassing the unsuspecting patrons of the restaurant whom were already eating. Mind you, it is only 7:00pm at this point. Wolverines waited in line for the men’s room while a slutty group of pirates took pictures with them. Waldo was ordering Jager-bombs, and a very drunk Pocahontus danced like a mentally challenged Elaine Benes. Nothing makes sense on Halloween. I love this holiday. My two other Ghostbuster compadres, and I opted to go to the bar next door, a near vacant mexican restaurant where an overweight man was singing covers, mostly of Jimmy Buffet.

Moving onward, people slowly but surely filed back onto the buses. We were down quite a few people at this point, but moral was higher than earlier. Imagine a bus barreling down the highway, with people flying around, completely unrestrained, guzzling beer and shouting obscenities from the windows. The next stop being The Skybar.

As we pulled in, there was a costume contest going on, and without any reservation, two of the three Ghostbusters jumped up on stage and began dancing. The crowd was not receptive, since we apparently barged into the women’s costume contest, we were unceremoniously booed from the stage. Our third Ghostbuster was vomiting outside in the bushes, and I started talking to an unattractive overweight bartender in the lobby.

From there we went to a Taco Bell that was closed where one of the few people left on the bus went out to check with the employees and ended up falling in the mud. Back at the Atomic cowboy, there was another costume contest, and the Pocahontus in our group won. The winning costume wearer was awarded a framed picture of a woman covered in blood, and a dildo. Where the Hell am I? The rest of the evening was spent chugging beer we swiped from the bus’s cooler and launching pumpkins into a wall with a catapult behind the bar. Halloween was a success!
