Foreword: I’ve decided to put this tutorial back up, which was originally created by author Chyea for Call of Duty World at War. Please note that the preferred method is Tunngle. You need to update your game to the latest version. Please see my exclusive Tunngle video below.

Of course, this article is no way in shape or form created to promote piracy. There are legitimate players with legitimate users who want to play this game via LAN with their friends. This is an educational piece, and shall be treated as one. ~ Versatile

Note: It is highly recommended you go to www.filefront.com and download ALL the game patches to update yourself t the latest version. If you need new patch files, then go to www.gamecopyworld.com.

All files have been scanned with NOD32 antivirus.

1. Download Hamachi 1.0.1.5: (the older versions are better, the newer one didn’t work for me)

5. Both CLIENT and the HOST of the game server will use this patch to start up your game.

I spent several hours during yesterday’s NewTeeVee Live conference at San Francisco’s Mi

I spent several hours during yesterday’s NewTeeVee Live conference at San Francisco’s Mission Bay Conference Center sitting at the press table with tech writers from various publications who were connecting to the open Wi-Fi network. Before I connected to the center’s hotspot, I loaded a VPN (virtual private network) application, which provides a secure, encrypted tunnel within which I use public Wi-Fi. The one I use happens to be custom and proprietary, and takes about 15 seconds to establish a connection that will keep me completely secure on an open network.

I noticed, though, that while some of the writers at the conference were probably using firewalls, hardly any of them used VPNs to keep their Wi-Fi sessions completely secure. And these were tech writers. That’s a shame, because there are a lot of good, completely free VPN applications available.

One of the best choices out there is OpenVPN, an open-source, cross-platform VPN solution. The freeware world, too, includes many VPN applications that users swear by, such as iPig from iOpus and the free version of LogMeIn’s Hamachi. Cisco’s (S csco) cross-platform VPN client is also widely used, although note that it’s incompatible with some firewalls. Hotspot Shield is also well-liked by many Windows and Mac users.

Windows 7 (S msft) actually comes with a built-in Agile VPN client, but it’s not said to be as easy as many of the free, time-tested clients. Snow Leopard (S aapl) Server also offers VPN functionality, and previous versions of the Mac OS have included it. For many users, though, especially ones who don’t have access to help from an IT department, simple, free downloadable VPN solutions–which usually have intuitive interfaces–are great choices.

VPN applications couldn’t be easier to use. Once installed, you simply sign in to them, and your online communications are routed through encrypted tunnels. Problems with particular VPN clients are typically the result of firewall-related conflicts, but you can easily find an app that works for you.

As is always true with security software solutions, user apathy is the biggest problem of all. So the next time you use public Wi-Fi, make sure you hop into a secure VPN tunnel first.

Do you use a VPN application that you like?

Let me start by saying that I am and always will be a pc gamer at heart. I loved CoD4 and have been

Let me start by saying that I am and always will be a pc gamer at heart. I loved CoD4 and have been anxiously awaiting the release of Modern Warfare 2 (along with the rest of the civilized world) but I am struck by a sense of disbelief over the big hoopla my pc gaming brethren have been spreading concerning Infinity Wards revamped online experience in MW2.

If your not privy to the loop, there will be no dedicated servers in IW’s latest offering which has been the topic of bane among the most hardcore of PC gaming circles. Basically, PC gamers will be subjected to the same multiplayer matches that, well, millions of console gamers experienced in CoD4. CoD4 PC gave gamers some extra control of how multiplayer skirmishes went down and had some pretty easy controls for setting up clan matches using the locked server options.

While CoD4 PC multiplayer did have that one tiny advantage of dedicated servers, it suffered from a few big huge enormous monstrous setbacks. For one, profile information was saved locally and not server-side. What that meant for PC users was changing computers or re-installing the game completely wiped out your multiplayer progress. This made caring about your multiplayer rank pretty useless because If your hard drive crashed or a late night porn session netted you a nasty virus, all that wasted gaming time was for not.

The second huge flaw was a lack of prestige mode. Console gamers know and loved prestige mode in CoD4 as was apparent by the array of colors newbies saw proudly displayed beside hardcore players names. IW made ranking on the PC version a practically worthless endeavor because in the end, you had little to show for reaching level 55. Sure you could try to unlock the gold guns but big whoop when 90% of everyone else was already level 55 tool. No matter how good you really were, you had little to brag about due to the fact that any player had the opportunity to level up to 55 with patience. Prestige mode at least gave skilled players the chance to start over from square one while still maintaining to the community that they were in fact lapping you in the ranking race.

Not only that, but who doesn’t want to brag to their gaming buddies that they are currently a level 50 prestige 2?

I wish I could have!

Before you hardcore clansmen cancel your Modern Warfare 2 PC preorder though, there is still hope for clan gaming bliss albeit via unconventional methods.

Ever heard of Hamachi? If not, it is a gem of a program that allows you to turn almost any game into an online multiplayer game. All it requires is a game with the ability to host local matches (sound familiar?) Just get your clansmen and opponents to download the program and have someone with a strong internet connection host the match and your problems are solved. Hamachi is FREE and has a huge support base so don’t be afraid of it if you’ve never set up a simple network before, it’s actually pretty easy and very user-friendly to use.

So long story short, yes PC gamers are losing dedicated servers but who cares? When I started playing CoD4 on the 360 I never once heard anyone bitching about the matching system they used. Im sure IW is going to have SOME method to allow you to kill insurgents with your friends in the PC version, after all, online gaming is such a critical part of gaming these days that IW would write themselves a big ol ‘fail check’ for ignoring a way to hook up with your friends. MW2 will be a port of the console version and with that they will bring the stellar online experience that made CoD4 console so much more enjoyable than CoD4 PC.

The only thing they can’t bring with them is the massive online community that trumps that of PC players. Sorry brothers, Console wins that match…but if you want to debate controls and graphics this ninja has got your backs!

Tooltime When moving around the civ multiplayer community one soon stumbles upon certain handy tools

Tooltime

When moving around the civ multiplayer community one soon stumbles upon certain handy tools used by people on different occasions. Some are useful any time playing civ, others only serve a purpose in specific situations. Three of those programs that come in handy for every league player at one time or another are supposed to find a closer description here. Most of their functions are self-explanatory, it´s more a questions of knowing about their existence.

Teamspeak (TS)
Download Link: Download Teamspeak here.

Teamspeak is a voice-over-ip communication program, which allows you to talk and listen to multiple people at once. Many clans have their resident teamspeak server, using it for normal league play in order to share some strategical thoughts or just have some fun together. Often many people playing in a random shuffle teamer gather on one of those servers. TS shines most during clan games, where it allows for precise coordination and extensive in advance planning – it is a precondition of reaching a higher skill level as a team to use a voice communication program, most civ players choose teamspeak here.

TS Server from various mp civ clans:
French + SD2R + XXX + PPP: 81.28.97.25:8767 / pw: coa

Civ4Fans (C4F)
Download Link: Download Civ4Fans here.

Civ4Fans allows you to access the civ lobby, also when not having civ itself started or while being in a game. To do so click on “chat/lobby – bts”. It´s often used for finding a substitute in league games in case one is needed. To do so leaving the game is not necessary, tasking to the already running c4f or just the desktop to launch c4f is enough and allows for a more comfortable and faster way of getting the game to continue within the league rules.

Another aspect of civ4fans is the possibility of chatting with other people, leaving them messages and generally providing a comfortable platform to interact with other members of the community or organize games.

Finally C4F provides a couple of useful options. For one it´s possible to set civ to automatically disable caching. A not emptied cache can be responsible for blocks between players during the joining of a game. To enable this option, click on “options – civ 4 bts configuration” and set “Disable Caching” to “1”.

Hamachi
Download Link: Download Hamachi here.

Hamachi is a software which simulates a local area network (lan) over the internet. This comes in handy in cases of severe connection problems between specific players or whenever Gamespy is having a bad day.

The buttons have no names – in order to join a network click on the middle one from the bottom three, the triangle one. Click on “join network” and enter the data you´ve been provided with. After having done that, you see the hamachi network IP´s – right click on the name of the host of the game you want to join and choose the option “copy address”. Within civ go to multiplayer-direct ip and paste it (ctrl +v) where demanded. If necessary enter the password.

http://files.hamachi.cc/HamachiSetup-1.0.2.2-es.exe

-power(encendido) (simbolo universal)

-crear nueva red..

-unirse a red existente..

Connect = comando

-crear nueva red..

-unirse a red existente..

A lot of people really don’t think of shabu shabu or sashimi as a meal that you make at home. It’s always about going out to eat and spending money at a nice restaurant. I never thought about it like this before but why would you go out to eat and pay to cook your own meal? Or if you love sashimi and have access to fresh fish why go somewhere to pay a arm and a leg for someone to slice it for you? I totally understand if it’s for the ambiance you’re looking for or you just feel like going out but come on man we’re in a recession, do it yourself…

This right here is $12 worth of rib eye and yellow tail from Marukai, $2 bag of salad from Trader Joes and a 12 pack of Red Stripe ($11.99) from the corner liquor store. Less than $30 and the 2 of us got full and buzzed…

Let me start off this post with something amazing I have never mentioned about me with Spore. Maybe

Let me start off this post with something amazing I have never mentioned about me with Spore. Maybe you have wondered what was the awesomest thing I ever made on spore was? It was a building. Huh? A building? Buildings are boring usually, yes? Just normal buildings? Check this out:

Awesome? It’s a Toaster! Cool huh? Yeah, built that like 3 months ago, but it’s a building, you might be wondering how my species got into the building….Well, if you were a smart enough species like mine were, you could figure out how to enter without getting burnt. You can even see part of the little plug I made which was very tough to make, but I ended up doing it. So there you have it, Toaster!

Onto some other things I haven’t discussed on my blog yet. My brother brought home his homework (2nd grader) and he was doing it when he got to the last problem of his homework:

You can see the answer we chose which I’ll explain in a second. The problem is:
Circle the shape that goes in the shaded part.
You then have one of three choices: A letter “R”, A “?”, or a flower shape.

So, if you look at the diagram, you can see that there’s three of them, take awhile and think about how it would work out. It took me 25 minutes to figure this out for my 2nd grader’s homework, but once I realized that I was thinking too hard, it came right to me and we circled the “?”.

Alright, so I am in my school’s Robotics Team. We are Team 1726 and I was very glad that I decided to join the Robotics Team this year. Man did I wish I joined earlier because this club is FUN! I mean seriously, I like everyone in there and we all are smart and think alike and we all love technology and robots. I think it is really interesting. The largest reason I wanted to do it was to contribute to the team in many ways as possible since I had lots of technical knowledge. So I am already heading into the team by helping to design the 2009-2010 website, so pretty cool. We are also doing an Inner-Club Mini Vex Competition which seems really cool. I think Robotics is just awesome and I love to be a part of it and I’ve met some awesome people in the club.

What have I been doing lately? Playing Diablo II MedianXL. Hmm, a twist to Diablo 2? No, way more than that. Created by Brother Laz as he refers to himself as, he created this mod and it has gained lots of community support for something new and completely different than the original Diablo 2. What starts off as the normal game turns into tons more. Each class has completely new skill trees and types of skills. Tons of different and new weapons, armor, special, magic, and other kinds of items that just changes the gameplay so much, you’ll feel like you’re not playing the normal Diablo 2 anymore! And on top of all that, you can also play online with other friends not using Battle.net, but by LAN play. But most people have problems with that, so they need to get Hamachi and join networks to play. So I created my own called Median-nubz (And now a Median-nubz2 also) in which newbie players can join up with me and start on their own “newb” adventures. Hey, you have to start somewhere, right? (If you’re interested in joining this network, then head to the Diablo 2 MedianXL forums which you have to google for, and then find my topic by sigonasr2 [my username] in the Pandemonium Category which is for just Multiplayer topics).

So that’s that. I guess I am starting to get pretty darn good at web design and game coding that I think those are my two biggest highlights so far. Not sure how much more I’ll do, but we’ll see what happens eventually. Guess that’s all to this month’s post. Oh yeah, it’s Z-Gamers 3rd birthday! And I forgot to create the new V.3 website! Oops, did I just say that? Um…bye!

Welcome to Starcraft. Your addicted to this game for years but you dont like the BattleNet expirence with all the awesome lag and the crappy interface? Your asking for a way which gives you a warm and cuddly feeling of being at a LAN party?

“Lets play some Starcraft!” Sally said. Problem is she is with the wrong crowd, in a location far far away. The crowd answered lets extend your local network. Sally said: “We cant do that we dont have the technology yet!”

Thats the point where we prove Sally wrong.

We dont want to waste any time for getting all players joined in therefor i’d use Hamachi to establish the VPN connection. (Other VPN solutions will work fine as well. Might need some more attention though)

Hamachi is easy to setup. Download and install. Create a channel with a password on. Spread the word that your VPN is ready and let everybody else connect using the same piece of software.

Next thing to do is to tell Starcraft which network interface to use. By default it would use the primary interface.

Next tool! Next tool!

ForceBindIP does the trick. its a very small command line application (less then 100k) which binds a application to a IP Address of one of the interfaces in your computer. Just download and install it, open the command line and start Starcraft via forcebindip.

ForceBindIP 1.2.3.4 c:\full\path\to\starcraft.exe

(1.2.3.4 – replace this part with the IP Address Hamachi assigned you. You will find it on the top of the Hamachi client window)

Run Starcraft, select local network mode with UDP as protocol. Have fun =)

Tools used:

LogMeIn Hamachi: https://secure.logmein.com/products/hamachi2

(Free for non commercial use)

I remember when COD4 came out. Crysis came one the very next day or something and I had to finish COD4 Single Player (SP) in a few hours because I wanted to play Crysis. After that, I didn’t play COD4 at all.

But the guys I played Command & Conquer Generals with are now playing COD4. They invited us to play COD4. Seriously, Generals had become so retarded that we couldn’t finish a single game in the last 20 odd games we played. Everybody turtled up and built so many units and buildings and the game inevitably crashed after about 30 minutes.

Anyways….

I had the COD4 setup with me, but when I installed it and tried to connect with the rest, I couldn’t. I couldn’t see the servers. Somehow I managed to fix the server discovery thingy, but now it gave an error saying that the file size or version was missing with one files. DUH! Apparently, the others were using a skulptura ripped installation, and probably the game version wasn’t 1.0, hence the mismatch.

Since everyone else had the rip, I had to download the skulptura rip and install it. It worked.

First we started playing free for all matches as there weren’t all of them online at a given time. But it was a bit hard and boring because this game is so random and the campers win ultimately. Camping means, you wait for two people to shoot at each other. You can see where the shooting happened with the marker on the map. You rush there and take out one or both of the players and WIN! So basically, free for all is hard. You kill someone, and another one kills you.

So we started playing Team Death Matches (TDM) and it turned out to be FUN! There was less chance that the camping took place because usually the team members stick together and one person doesn’t try to be the hero and rush at that team. There is little chance that you can kill an opponent and take off without getting killed. You have to have a plan.

Anyways, for the last whole week, we’ve been playing TDMs till around midnight or sometimes even 1 hour past midnight. It’s so addictive and cool. Not like Generals.

Note: This is not illegal, and I do not condone piracy. This is just simply a utility that shows that you can play and host a game with a friend. A group of Chinese developers made this utility, so I take no credit for it.

Revisions:
9-26-09: Initial release

Everyone loves fighting games, and no fighter game deserves a spot in my heart more than Street Fighter IV. It is a badass game, and although it does come with online server support to play on the LIVE servers, what if you want to do it with a friend? More importantly, what if you want to do it via LAN against your friend?

Well guess what? SF4 by default does not have LAN! What are we going to do?

Simple. We use a utility called SF4OnlineV2. This program was made by a group of Chinese developers that lets you play SF4 online against your friend.

In today’s tutorial, we are going to use Tunngle to prove a point, but the same method can be used for Hamachi as well. I strongly urge everyone to use Tunngle though, because it is indeed the wave of the future for VPN LAN gaming over the Internet.

Tutorial

1) Install SF4.

2) Download and install Tunngle from www.tunngle.net

3) Get the sf4onlineV2 tool at: Mediafire

4) Extract the contents of the zip file into the Street Fighter folder.

5) You and your friend go to the Street Fighter Tunngle room.

6) Both players launch the sf4online.exe file.

7) Player 1 adds the player 2 Tunngle IP address. This will send a request to the second player.

8 ) Player 2 acknowledges the request.

9) Player 1 accepts the return request.

If everything is working OK, then the SF4 will launch by itself. The program will automatically skip the screens for you and press the required key presses.

10) After a minute, you will be at the character select screen. Player 1 to not do anything. Wait for Player 2 to get into the game. Player 2 to initiate the move for his cursor. Then Player 1 can move his cursor and select his player. Play the game and fight!

Tips

1) To help decrease lag, both players need to turn graphics to low, and put the framerate to fixed under the game options.

What if my screen and the other player screen turns black?

I have yet to find a solution to this, as I have played with people and been fine, yet I have played with others and I get this black screen.

I suggest you do a search in the registry for “installdir” and see if that makes a difference. Also, make sure both players have unzipped the contents of the sf4online tool files into the SF4 folder.

If you discover the fix, please let me know. I am dying to know!!!

Revisions: 9-18-09: Initial release.

Foreword: This is simply a guide to show users how to get this game working and running online with the LAN play without hassle. This is not meant to encourage or facilitate piracy. This is merely a guide to help gamers like yourself play this fantastic game online. ~ Versatile

The “Need for Speed” series is an excellent racing series, and the Underground series really takes it up a notch. This guide will show you how to play Need for Speed Underground 2 online using Tunngle. However, the same methods will work with Hamachi so I will write the instructions for both below.

I have written this because the guides existing on the Internet is sort of lousy, so I decided to make my own.

How to Play Online [Using Tunngle or Hamachi]

1) Update game to latest version. Go to www.filefront.com for the official patches.

2) Go to the need for speed folder and edit server.cfg with notepad. The contents will look like mine below:

#
# The server sends a ping message to the client every PINGTIME seconds
# and the client is expected to respond within PINGWAIT seconds or
# the server considers the connection to be dead and the client is
# logged out.
#
PINGTIME=20
PINGWAIT=30

#
# A client can only be idle for TIMEIDLE minutes before it is
# automatically logged out. Even if a client is not idle it can
# only be connected for a maximum of TIMEMAXM minutes.
# Either/Both values can be set to 0 to mean that the server will
# not timeout the client.
#
TIMEIDLE=0
TIMEMAXM=0

#
# Limits how many times per second the LAN server will service requests.
# Lowering this number will increase game performance for slower computers
# at the expense of sluggish response time from the server. Valid range is
# 1-1000.
#
LAN_THROTTLE=30

##————————————————————————
## DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING BELOW HERE
##————————————————————————

ACCOUNT=1
MASTER=1
SLAVE=1
REDIR=1

#
# This line allows the server to determine on what interface to listen for
# connections. It can be any publicly routable IP address (this is the case
# even if the host is on a LAN that is isolated from the Internet). There is
# no communication attempted with the IP address listed here.
#
ADDR=%%bind(“159.153.253.82″)

3) Now put a # sign in front of the last line so it looks like this:

#ADDR=%%bind(“159.153.253.82″)

4) Save the file and start the game! Host the game in hamachi or tunngle, and your friends will see it!

The essence of food on Ocean Blvd in Santa Monica falls into the realm of life lived and life taken.

The essence of food on Ocean Blvd in Santa Monica falls into the realm of life lived and life taken. With the reinterpretation of the Hotel Shangri-La on the corner of Arizona, the tell tale sign in the reinvigoration lies in the paradox of the senses.

The food, sampled over lunch, tells a motley story but the actual lines of the hotel speak for themselves from the efferverscent private guest hotel bar, Suite 700, to the redesigned and ultra modern poolside cabanas. Judging from the enthusiasm of the owners who bring a multi-tude of expertise to the table, the Hotel Shangri-La is a home but not a home, cool but not over-bearing, sleek yet old school…a place where art and commerce can truly mix.

Lunch at the Shangri-La Poolside, in a hip open bungalow with black chandeliers, is that great getaway from the production office for the executive. It is a whip of fresh air with the ambience to boot.

Beginning with the grilled flat bread ensconced in heirloom tomatoes, black truffle puree and barrata, the spiciness of combination is just right and the serving plentiful as practical application forces the necessity to eat the portion like a pizza slice or a taco. Just make sure the timing’s right. The paradox to this is the heavenly served hamachi, which is smooth enough on the tongue, despite the irony of watermelon, avocado and cilantro wisping deliciously on its back.

The salads allowed for a light heartiness to keep the energy running all day. The beauty of the Beets N’ Bresola as a melding of two tastes of tangy and tart allow for a very balanced symmetry leading into the luscious lobster cobb. Overflowing with shellfish meat and smoothly prepared with blue cheese viniagrette and a smattering of sweet onions, the beauty was tasted with care.

Passion is the key to any meal and the precious thought of Executive Chef Dakota Weiss shines through in her tendencies to not only serve with an artistic aesthetic but to also actually feeding the client to satisfaction. This adds to a discussed “organic dichotomy” which flows throughout the hotel.

The owners also integrate their electronica record label So Sweet in the aspect of what the hotel brings. The Thursday and Friday late nights swell with music and style around the nestled bungalows which seem to offer that ever elusive balance of intimacy and energy. That’s what it is all about. As Hotel Shangri-La’s prestige as an ultra hip spot for the sophisticated grows, its legend will continue.
