I guess you, as me, though that with the very intelligent and strategical tags I had entered for my first post, the blog would have tons of visits.

You and I were wrong. Incredible but true. Not even one lost visitor clicked on the site, which leads me to te following conclusions

1) I am not as cool as I though and teenagers are really volatile. Jonas Brothers are out and I need to find who the new hero is to put it as my next tag. I am trying with Hanna Montana

2) I am the only one looking for wonderful solutions to lose weight fast and of course, eating as much as I want and not exercising.

3) The world has come to the point where husbands are loyal. No more cheating (or wives are not suspecting it which would mean hubbies have become more careful…). I should write this tag in Spanish, French and other languages. Maybe the issue is only in English speaking husbands.

I think this blog will become quite an interesting social experiment.

Yesterday, a little boy named Noah Biorkman passed away.  I first read about Noah on the Snopes section of my homepage.  I have seen many of these posts before, but for some reason, this one got to me.  Perhaps it is because I have a five year old son or perhaps I was just in the right place to read about it.  Like so many of these posts, this one was requesting that Christmas cards be sent to Noah since he would most likely not live until Christmas day.  His family wanted to have one more Christmas with him.  I didn’t have a Christmas card to send, but I did have a ‘Thanks a Bunch!’ card with a drawing of a bunch of bananas, so that is what I sent in.

I think what affected me so much was the thought of explaining to my child why they were going to die.  When we lost our second daughter, Julia, that loss was more muted, though no less painful or profound.  She only knew love, warmth and peace and, at least for me, that was a source of comfort. If the same thing happened to one of my other children, it would be markedly more difficult.

As an adult, I am conditioned to know that I will probably be here when my parents pass.  I also know that my wife may die before I do.  But I have a difficult time comprehending the notion that I may outlive any of my kids.

One of the articles I read about Noah quoted him saying that he gets to be an angel.  In the context of the article, he seemed pretty excited about, too.  I suppose that if you are five, knowing that you will be an angel would be a pretty cool thing.  And as a parent, I would take no small amount of comfort in knowing that my child would view death in such a positive light.  Having had my own experience with mortality, I can appreciate how having a positive attitude really makes a difference; however, I have a hard time applying my feelings about my own passing to someone I love.

I have an uncle, Marshall, who passed away from colon cancer when he was in his 50s.  Shortly before he died, flew up and visited him at my grandmothers house.  I don’t remember a great deal about the trip, but I do remember him telling me to love my little girl.  The alpha child had come along a few months before and I was still getting used to the whole fatherhood thing.  Since we both had a daughter it gave us a little bit to talk about. He wasn’t exactly a chatterbox, so I was grateful to have a conversation starter.  I hung out by his bed for a few days and flew home to my family with a renewed appreciation for what I had.  He died several months later.

I am not sure what motivated me to make the trip.  I was still in my 20s and I recall having wanderlust during that time of my life.  Whatever my reasons, I am glad was able to make the trip.

On that note, enjoy your Thanksgiving.  I hope it is spent with the people you love in a place you love.

Hanna Montana Star Miley Cyrus was sparred from a fatal accident when her tour bus overturned killing its driver William G. Douglas.

Luckily, Miley was not on board the bus which was on its way to Greensboro, North Carolina for her scheduled performance.

Sergeant Thomas Molnar revealed that the bus ran off the left side of Interstate 85, hit an embankment and overturned. Speed and weather were ruled out as the cause of the accident.

Authorities were still investigating the incident.

In a public statement, Miley’s family expressed their sadness over the death of their Uncle Bill Douglas.

Nos guste o no, lo cierto es que la morena de día rubia de noche Hannah Montana es todo un éxito: serie, disco, película, videojuegos… después de unos años de juguetes rotos, parece que la factoría ha vuelto a dar en la tecla.

Por eso ahora están intentando moldear otra estrella de este estilo. Time señala como “la elegida” a Bridgit Mendler, una adolescente de 16 años que protagonizará su propia serie (Good Luck Charlie), en 2010.
Antes de Bridgit, Disney ha intentado lanzar asteroides año tras año desde el despegue de Miley Cyrus en 2006. En 2007 fue Selena Gomez, en 2008 los Jonas Brothers y en 2009 ha sido el turno de Demi Lovato. Todos ellos han tenido su propia serie al mismo tiempo que firmaban un contrato con la compañía para grabar discos, dar conciertos y hacer clin clin caja.

No creáis que es casualidad, ni mucho menos. Se hicieron dos secuelas, se vendió la banda sonora, videojuegos, libros… en total, los ingresos oscilan entre los 150 y 200 millones de dólares (más de 100.000.000 euros). Como imaginaréis, Disney quiere bastante a Zack Efron y a Vanessa Hudgens y es lógico que monte en cólera si protagonizan un escándalo.

Today was RIDICULOUS!

All ready for rain, and school!

First I woke up at 4:30a.m., convinced that it was 8:30, and that we’d woken up too late! Then, I woke up at 8 (which is too late to get em to school by 8:30 anyway). We hustle like mad, and em gets ready by 8:45. Less than awesome performance. Still, we go to school better late than never…but when we get there – it’s closed! Deserted! We go to all the entrances just to make sure – and they’re locked! So, of course, we go to the local cafe to mull over the mystery.

The lady there doesn’t know, but suggests it’s likely a Professional Development day. We buy the story, and some steamed milk, and an espresso…and meet an interesting guy named Larry, who trains horse-trainers, and has a ranch with like 70 horses on it. I was like, ok, sweetness…since the stun of  getting em ready for school and it being closed was still occupying my whole mind(!).

Then we came home and em watched the Aristocats – an absolutely brilliant movie. We also searched up some math and word sheets so that em could have some school work to do…to alleviate the guilt that both of us I was feeling. While Em was working away, I coordinated some plans to go see “where the wild things are” with big Emily and my G-ma. These solidified to include dinner with my G-ma.

Unfortunately, the afternoon and evening turned into a logistical nightmare. I had to take Jai-Wen and another for-ex student to Vernon for a meeting with their coordinator. First, we head out of Lumby on the wrong road…until we reach Cherryville. This was the wrong way for dayyam sure. So we pull over, and ask a random farmer for directions. he set us right, yet lacked the magical ability to buy us back 20 minutes of driving in Beautiful British Colombia. We make it to pick up Irvin, fill up gas, and drive in to Vernon. We only arrive 10 minutes late, by some mixture of miracle and speed.

Em and I dropped them off, and then went to get big Emily (heretofore called

E.Mac). We all went to a cafe, and chilled out for a bit, discussing life, and entertaining Em’s knock-knock jokes. We returned to pick up our for-ex peeps, but their coordinator wanted more time. Dilemma. Dinner with my grandma was in 30 minutes. they wanted 30 minutes of time to meet. i suggested they stay longer, I go eat, drive right back and get them, then drop them both at home in Lumby, then drive back for the movie. It seemed the only solution, but it worked. needless to say, we had a delicious dinner, and I got a good chance to chat with Jai-wen and her friend and learn some mandarin!

G-ma, and the "Em-'n'-Ems"

We watched “where the wild things are” ( though I missed the first few minutes), and it was wonderful! It was hilarious to see how much Em was like Max. Even my grandma liked it. The kids beside us didn’t like it…what emotionless desert-souled nincompoops.

oh, we also listened last night and tonight to William Sears reading stories from the dawn breakers for children. What a good story teller! I recalled my times falling asleep before he got to chapter 6 every time. Likely why I’m so shaky on my Baha’i history.

Non credo a quello che ho visto. Stavo girovagando su youtube per cercare il prossimo video da proporvi e ho scoperto che Miley Cyrus, l’ Hanna Montana idolo degli adolescenti ha rifatto la mitica canzone di Cindy Lauper, Girls Just Want to Have Fun. Sono rimasto allibbito quando l’ho visto!

You may or may not know who Hanna Montana is but if you have children between the ages of 5-15 or watch television you have probably heard her name. So why is her name popping up on a woodworking blog?  The reason is simple, ROUTER BITS!!??

What ??  Let me explain, a woodworker called us and he needed a few router bits that we had in stock and in talking to him he explained that he was making some changes to a piano that is going to be used in the new Hannah Montana movie. How neat is that!

He offered to send a few  pictures of how the project was moving along, I said great because my 6 year old daughter loves Hannah Montana so he sent me a few to show her.  Above you can see the rough cutout made to the body of the piano and then the finished cut that was made with one of our Eagle America router bits.
