If something is good, the Chinese describe it as 好 (hăo). For example, in China people greet each other with 你好嗎 (nĭhăo ma?)  “Are you doing well?” One possible answer could be 我很好 (wŏ hĕnhăo) “I am doing (very) well.”

According to a principal work on Chinese characters 說文解字 (shūowénjĭezì) “Explaining Simple and Analyzing Compound Characters”, the character 好 consists of 女 (nǚ) daughter and子 (zĭ) son. Why the appearance of daughters and sons means good or beautiful can be explained with the aid of the Chinese culture.

Hao

Parents love their children, because in ancient China they considered children their creations. They therefore loved them, regardless of whether the child was dutiful or rebellious, diligent or lazy, beautiful or ugly. Parents find their children unconditionally good and beautiful; they also think that their children are kindhearted the minute they are born.

Another explanation implies that a family is good because they have sons and daughters, because the children embody the continued existence and happiness of a family. Since time immemorial the Chinese put much emphasis on the value of a family and kin, which is reflected in traditional practices of ancestor worship.

Due to this belief in the family it is easily understandable why the one-child-policy since 1975 met with disapproval. Many Chinese, especially those in rural regions, find this a burden. In a family in which either only 女 or 子 can be encountered, some think their lives can no longer be 好, or “good”.

Claymore Securities is launching a new exchange-traded fund for investors to get one more method exposure to the Chinese stock market.  The new ETF is the Claymore/AlphaShares China All-Cap ETF (NYSE: YAO), and is Claymore’s third effort in a China-focused ETF.  The other two ETFs are the Claymore/AlphaShares China Small Cap Index ETF (NYSE: HAO), built on Chinese small-cap companies; and then there is the Claymore/AlphaShares China Real Estate ETF (NYSE: TAO), focused on real estate companies in China.

Claymore called this the ideal time for investors to access China’s market through an all-cap product.

The “YAO” aims to track the AlphaShares China All Cap Index, which tracks the performance of the investable universe of publicly-traded companies of all market capitalizations of companies based in mainland China, although it does note that index members must have a float-adjusted market capitalization initially of $500 million or greater and a market cap of $400 million or greater for ongoing index inclusion.

As of September 30, 2009 the index included 99 securities: approximately 57% in large caps, 33% in mid-caps and 10% in small-caps.  The index member weightings can be found at its index weightings section of the Claymore.com website.

We took a look through the list of constituents and what is different about this ETF compared to many other ETFs in China is that this one directly tracks many of the key companies directly on the exchanges in Hong Kong or in China rather than just the US-listed ADRs.  Many of those ADRs are only available in Pink Sheet-listed securities.  Otherwise, three of the top five index components would not be available to US-holders, and the top 5 constituents account for right about 25% of the entire weighting of the ETF.

My HaoxOC is completed, and can be read here. It consists of five short chapters (ranging from 600 – 800 words per chapter), and is a very very very easy read.

I have never written in this manner before; the lack of dialogue in the entire story scares me, to be honest, but it was a nice change, not having to bother about the level of sue-ness of this OC, or whether I’m giving enough description and blah blah blah. It was plain, pronto writing, and the only thing I nit-picked about was spelling.

Man, it sure felt good. Maybe I should start applying this format of writing to the upcoming fanfictions that I’ve planned too.

Anyways, I’m flying to Turkey tomorrow!! OMG I cannot wait to get into the plane. xD And damn, I need to pack. >.>

Capítulo 300] :Ultimas Palabras Ultimo capitulo de la serie que nos muestra tanto el desenlace de la batalla final contra Hao y la vida de los guerreros 7 años despues
Muchas Gracias por el apoyo y la espera por este capitulo aun quedan unos bonus que vinieron en el fanbook pero este es oficialmente el final de shaman king gracias a quienes siguieron mis vids desde el principio y a aquellos que se acoplaron despues tmb a los de aphantom que publican mis vids en su blog gracias! y no olvidemos apoyemos este gran manga! si pueden comprarlo haganlo! vale la pena en serio!

Des impératifs professionnels m’ont tenu un peu éloigné de mon clavier ces dernières semaines et il est vraisemblable que la charge ne diminue pas de sitôt.  Je n’en ai pas moins voyagé au Luxembourg (pour Photomeetings) et à Groningen au Pays-Bas (pour NoorderLicht) et j’en parlerai bientôt.

Pour le moment, il reste à terminer le récit des aventures madrilènes de cet été. Je poursuis donc avec la journée du 22 juillet, où seules les expositions officielles ont été relatées dans un billet précédent, pour passer aux galeries du “off”.

Je commence avec 5 galeries dont les travaux m’ont bien plu.

Chez Blanco Soto (Alameda, 18)  le projet de Paco Mesa et Lola Marazuela, intitulé parralele 45°25′ nord montrait des photographies prises sur ce parallèle à travers différents pays, un projet amusant que de tirer ainsi un trait sur une carte et de le suivre. Le projet montre également des cartes afin de situer la trajectoire des artistes.

Magda Bellotti (Fucar, 22) invitait Juan del Junco (série el sueno de ornitologo: cuaderno de campo). Il s’agit de tres grands formats couleur présentant des oiseaux morts, toujours sous le même angle de profil, de dessus ou dessous, parfois avec une etiquette. Chaque image est composée de plusieurs photos format une sorte de damier comme un rayonnage d’entomologiste. C’est assez troublant.

Tercer Espacio (San Pedro,1) exposait Elena de la rua montre des photos couleur de formats raisonnable de plantes dans une serre, entre portrait et paysage, sauvage et domestique. Chaque photo montre un morceau de la serre qui nous rappelle qu’on est dans un cadre non naturel. Un peu triste mais un travail honnête et intéressant.

Deux galeries avaient choisi un programme asiatique. Tribeca (Maratin, 7) ne paie pas de mine mais l’espace est assez vaste et l’accueil y est tout à fait charmant. On y voyait de grands tirages de Liu Wei avec ses fameux sauts suspendus dans le temps et ses acrobaties impossibles font penser a Darzaq ou Ramette mais lui penche plutôt pour la tête en bas et des scenes de groupe. Il y avait aussi un tirage vraiment géant en trois morceaux (presque 5 mètres de long), celui où  s’envolent 10 personnes depuis une BMW. Dolores de Sierra (San augustin, 15 bajo) montrait de son côté Hong Hao et il faut préciser que la galerie s’est clairement orientée bers le marché chinois. Ses très grand format couleur montrent une multitude de petits objets colores vu de dessous sur fond noir Certaines compositions sont presque abstraite (boutons, friandises). Cela se laisse voir, c’est très décoratif et au-delà peut-être pourra-t-on y voir un questionnement sur l’abondance de produits dans nos sociétés.

Je termine ce billet avec les propositions les moins convaincantes à mon goût.

Marita Segovia (Lagasca, 7) est une galerie mais surtout un lieu de vente d’antiquités. De fait, ce n’est pas extraordinaire comme photographies. Ion Sobera montrait un ensemble hétéroclite de vues en noir et blanc d’architecture en grand format, de petits trucs assemblés en mosaïque (comme des parasols) et des vues de port (des containers). Matias Costa présentait un ensemble un peu plus élaboré avec des paysages panoramiques aux raccords visibles et des paysages intimistes minimalistes.

Fernando Pradilla (Claudio Coello, 20) dont le site web en construction montrait Ding Musa, Vicente de Mello, Albano Alfonso, Beth moyses et Fernando velazquez mais très franchement, le caractère ultracontemporain (comprenez “minimaliste et obscur”) des travaux, qui exploitent la photographie d’assez loin et de façon extrêmement hermétique m’a laissé sur ma faim. La Fabrica Galeria (Alameda, 9) fait à peine mieux avec Ignacio Uriarte (son site énigmatique ici) qui montrait des diapos d’un décompte montrant les chiffres en lettres romaines constitués de… Stylos bic. A voir aussi des photos d’un papier blanc avec des ombres dessous. La galerie héberge des grands noms comme Marina Abramovic et Rineke Dijkstra. My name’s lolita Art (Almaden,12 bajo) montrait aussi des travaux conceptuels, avec une vidéo et des photos sur une table et sur les murs d’un type seul qu’on pourrait prendre pour un touriste. Le tout est totalement anonyme: pas de titre, pas de nom de l’auteur. Bof. En prime, surement d’un autre artiste, une photographie d’un plat où deux têtes (mouton et porc) se tirent la langue (ou, plus précisément, se roulent une pelle). Cela ne restera pas dans les annales.

Enfin, Formato Comodo (Lope de Vega, 5) ancrait son exposition dans le réel, contrairement au galeries évoquées ci-dessus, mais le caractère politique de l’exposition ne m’a pas séduit, pas plus que la forme retenue par le photographe, Alonso Gil, pour ses tirages. La politique, c’est le peuple Sahraoui. La forme, ce sont des tirages proches de l’aquarelle, sur papier à dessin. Une vidéo, interview d’un leader, complétait le dispositif.

the first one is mei’s hangout (her birthday was the 21st, but we hung out yesterday. and the first one is mine on my actual birthday (the 19th).

and last thursday, was this absolutely cute guy’s birthday, right? and so i gave him a tidge of cheesecake that i made originally for mei. and he works at this bubble tea place that the four of us (in the pictures) hang out. and the girl behind the counter with mr. irresistible half-whispers to him in chinese, “does that girl like you?” as i turn around to get back to our table. she probably thought that i didn’t understand chinese because i spoke to him in english. lol. i don’t know his response, but he probably said ,”no way!” or something along the lines of that.

also, our spoon penalties weren’t too bad because the guys we invited weren’t that cool or as fun as the one’s before, so the penalty was just to ask other people to play with us. but the first two guys we asked were these white dudes just visiting (one from ny and one from louisiana). it was one of guys’ birthday, so we sang to him. and then, he told us that nobody ever sang for his birthday so it was “the best birthday ever!!” i was really warm and fuzzy because we did such a silly little thing and he was so happy. :}

anyway, i’m SUPER procrastinating right now. i’ve got a giant LA homework assignment (mccormick, figures…) and since i didn’t get out of the class, i am holding myself responsible for this shiet. i will get this done because i went out all day saturday. my god!!

and mei got her license two days ago (friday) so she was super psyched about going places and doing shet and not taking public transportation. and she’s about to get her car in the next couple of weeks if her sister buys a lexus (LOL). which is weird, because i have a car but i’ve got no license. wtf…

since she got her license, mei wants to road trip and stuff and she wants to have a driving buddy… so i’m effing studying this damn hand book. i’m super determined!! i read it in bed and it’s actually kind of interesting. hahahahaha like the facts and stupid percentages and fine amounts and whatnot. lolol so after i get some facts concrete, my mother will test me or whatever and then, i will take this shiet! hopefully i can be like haoward and miss only one question. but then i can miss like 5 questions? or something to pass. hehe…

my cousin, marvin, wants to teach me driving too. lol he’s probably the best person to teach me cuz he’s a guy and he won’t nag me like my mom would. i’m sure my dad wouldn’t nag me, but he’d be too lazy to teach me… oh dang! it’d be like kevjumba and happyslip. hahaha

まぁ, i should get going on my homework. i shall kill stats first!! GRR!!

so i was planning a TINY dinner thing after school (not my official event haha) with like 5 friends at my friends house. we were gonna play katamari, eat ice cream cake, and basically chill. lol

so i asked my friend abe if him and his girlfriend were gonna go and he said no. so, i was a bit let down…

and before i could go to my friends house, i had to go to the damn center and have a meeting with spunerd. -.-;;
and oanh took my 3 PM slot so i had to wait until 4. but she got done a bit early around 3:45 and i just sped outta there with mori at around 4:10. hoho!

then, taking 4 buses, when only 1 is necessary, the two of us went towards his house. hahaha

it was an adventure.

so, we arrived and the door was unlocked and it was like half a surprise. probably because they didn’t know i was coming. but yeah, my friend and his gf were there, this other kid from wapi, zenzenwakarimasen, and kirk was there too! we ran a tidge late, but it was okay.

we also played ninja where you have to hit someone’s hand taking turns and you can only move in one motion and dodge in one motion. yeah. intense game!

and a couple things involving different friends has been SUPER annoying. one of them, a friend who i haven’t talked with since last year. what a troublesome girl. a liar, a backstabber, and someone who puts flimsy friendships (of like two months) before your own (over 10 years). she expects me to forgive her completely? i don’t think so.

but it’s been awkward. and that past year, i’ve been making somewhat of a game avoiding her in the hallways, after school, and everywhere else.. like the bus stop. maybe i like the tension. but it’s been building up and finally, she reached me on facebook chat after talking with eliot about the voc. homework.

and here he is, involved and tangled in this horrible mess. so yeah, i decide to talk to her but only when she initiates the conversation. it felt like dragging a dollar bill down the hallway. i’ve actually never been in that position before in my life.

then, she called me a couple times on the phone when i was busy with art or homework. but, as el said, i had to break this. so i called her and set the shet straight UP! i told her to not expect anything and she said she understood.

and mori and i have talked about this. the fact that she has ‘friends’ who she only talks to about school and latin. so she got herself a boyfriend from canada. and anyone who is crazy enough to date her doesn’t really know the real her, as far as i’m concerned. and as an after thought, she said, “oh, and he’s korean!! *squeal*”

so. what’s her point? she wants me to squeal with her and she probably hasn’t had a healthy boy-conversation in a while (let’s say… a year, perhaps?) so there are many, many awkward silences but they don’t faze me because she’s the one who has to make that initiative. and, being the asshole that i am, i like being the boss. checking the facebook chat every 5-10 minutes while i get responses almost instantaneously. it’s great, being in control.

and problem 2.

yeah. it’s the friend i’ve known for the longest. and she’s so amazing and great, but to tell the truth, she burdens me the most. i get that she doesn’t have many friends because of running start and i’m quite happy to save her when she needs me. but when i’m all used up for a guy?, i’m not very willing to fill that mold.

friends help each out in times of need. i get that. and i get that he’s only here for three days. but i hate being your only excuse for everything. it’s tiring and i’m actually tired and i don’t ask for much from you. now, my audience has kind of shifted. and i’m talking to ‘you’ now.

i just didn’t like the fact that you just pop up when you need me and when it’s most convenient for you. i’m grateful that you’re my friend and i’m greatful that you trust me so. but i wanted you to know that i’m not always gonna be free for you and i might not always be willing to help you because i have things i want to do as well.

i just think it was a miscommunication problem and i think that you thought that it was implied that you’d go to my house and then with shawn on my birthday. i know you had it all planned out, but i never knew any specifics and i just can’t twist for you every single time.
