blogge ich 30 Minuten zu spät. Das Halbjährige von Gefeha war nämlich gestern… ich bin ja so schlecht. Aber was soll’s, der eine Tag lässt mich doch wunderbar auf ein vollständig und vor allem vollkommenes Jahr zurückblicken.
Eigentlich müsste ich ja mal was ändern… das Layout oder so. Zu was anderem, zum Beispiel dem Wechsel zu sinnvollerem Inhalt, bin ich eigentlich eh nicht in der Lage, und will es auch gar nicht sein. Aber da ich, wie schon erwähnt, eben auch nicht in der Lage bin, mein Layout meinen Wünschen entsprechend zu ändern, wird euch wohl das grün-braun-blaue weiter behalten bleiben. Naja… äääähm… heute bin ich irgendwie echt nicht in der Stimmung, nen lachhaften Post zu machen. Ich weiß nur, dass ich mich jetzt ganz schnell nach meinem Nachtfalter verdrehen werde, um endlich rauszufinden, was diese Woche in DD geht, denn ich bin schon seit voriger Woche in mega Tanzstimmung… man! Iiiich… geh jetzt schlafen.

Yesterday my first born was 40 years old.  Of course if you do your calculations right you will see that I was a 6 year old when he was born. LOL  No, I have to be honest and admit that I was the ripe old age of 19 when Michael came into this world.  He was the most precious baby.  So easy going, good eater, good sleeper and even tempered.  He hasn’t changed much in 40 years!  Yesterday he and his wife went with his in-laws to the big city and had a nice supper and went to a play.  They spent the night and got home today about noon.  I kept the granddaughters and we had a ball.

Today, after the girls left, I sat around in my PJ’s for a while and just relaxed and then about 3 pm I got  dressed and decided to go check out the party preparations we had planned.  We had hired a local lady to cater a supper for about 40-50 people.  We were holding it at the Senior Citizens building here in town.  When I got there at 4 absolutely NOTHING had been done to prepare for the party except for the food preparation.  I quickly turned on the “high speed” mode – yes, occasionally I do have one – and started getting things done.  I set up the tables, ran home and picked up some decorations I keep for emergencies, visited the Dollar Store and headed back to the SC building.  I began decorating and getting things ready to go for the 6 pm event.  Since I have mentioned before that we are really limited in our choices of shopping here in the big metropolis I had to make do with what I could find on short notice.

Just as I was finishing up, at 5:45, the first of the guests began to arrive.  I think we finally had about 45 people gathered to await the guest of honor.  We waited, we waited and we waited.  At 6:40 they finally arrived.  Seems his wife got the time wrong and then he suspected something and just drug his heels getting ready to see if she would freak out.  I think he knew something was up but just didn’t know what.

When he came into the building he said he was really surprised to see so many of his friends there.  He only expected family. 

He is an RN and we had a very appropriate cake made for him.

Yes, that’s a couple of butt cheeks, complete with wrinkles, getting a dose of pain via the needle.  The little kids thought this was hilarious and when we took the syringe out it left a little hole which his middle daughter promptly told everyone was the “butt hole”.    There were the usual gifts for the “older” folks like Depends, false teeth adhesive, laxatives, hearing aids, etc.  But the most unique was the big container of Cheese Puffs.  I didn’t understand until he read the card and it said that when he loses all his teeth he can suck on these until they get soft and won’t have to even chew.

While the birthday boy was the most important man in the room, he had a little competition for the attention of the women and girls from this handsome younger man:

This is Stone.  He is the son of my nephew and grandson of my sister, Midlife Slices.  Everyone wanted to hold and kiss on this little cutie.  Here my daughter is holding him and though we tried to convince her that she needed another one she adamantly refused on the basis that her husband was too old.   Ha ha ha – he is 40.

Finally my favorite photo of all.  I don’t have very many of my son and daughter and I after they both left the nest.  Aren’t they beautiful?  Okay, you don’t have to say anything but I think they are the most beautiful two people in the world.

Happy Birthday Lars!

I have to say I am proud of my cake masterpiece. It’s an “inside out german chocolate cake” recipe that I found online. It’s dense and chocolaty, and has a pretty smooth glaze. Six of us were able to eat about half of the cake.

The candles are made from a cake of beeswax that I had. The idea came from a Martha Stewart craft, although I didn’t have sheets of wax (they are hard to find and expensive) so I melted my wax into a small foil lined pan to make a thin sheet of wax. I then used little cookie cutters to cut out the letters and sandwiched the layer together (two of each letter) with a small wick and toothpick. They burn fast so are really only good for one time, but definitely worth the effort for the cuteness.

My birthday is in 10 days.  I am so excited!

Haaaiii all! Langsung aja ya. Oke hari ini adalah tanggal 20 November 2009. Dan di hari itu gua membawa pizza karena masih dalam rangka ultah gue hehehe.

Oke, jadi ceritanya begini, habis pulang shalat Jumat, saya dibawakan ibu 4 loyang pizza + 1 loyang kecil buat Pak Iwan. Lalu kubawa ke atas, ku taruh di kelas. Si Reza ngejar-ngejar. Lalu gua tutup bentaran. Lalu, Udin dateng. Karena temen sekelas, ku persilahkan ambil pizzanya. Terus, gue makan sama temen-temen gue. Lalu kujelaskan mengapa belum boleh ngambil pizzanya dulu. Tapi mereka maksa, malah ngancem masukin gua lagi ke kolam. Suck ‘em. Lalu, ku lihat pada dateng anak 7A mulai makan pizza. 1 orang 1 potong. Lalu, gua ke kelas dan anak 7B ngikutin gua. Jadi rusuh. Lalu Pak Iwan dateng dan memutuskan hanya yang ada di kelas saat itu yang makan. Sisanya, kasih ke guru.

November 2009 marks the fifth birthday of two great open source projects, both of which I couldn’t live without.

1. Firefox was first released on November 9th, 2004. I remember first installing it in 2004, loving it and I still use it to this day. I’m actually using it right now to write this post.
2. Watir made its first public appearance on November 15th, 2004, in a tutorial by Bret and Paul at StarWest 2004.

The two projects became connected in late 2006 when FireWatir was developed by Angrez Singh. Since then Watir has incorporated native Firefox support.

So here’s cheers to these two great open source projects! Hope there are many more great birthdays to come!

What providence! The 200th photo, on what happens to be my birthday, and which happens to be one of my favorite recent shots. I knew that I was behind, and so there would be no way of knowing if the 200th shot, when it finally got uploaded would be significant or not. But fate, has not let me down.

Jadi saat pulang, HP gua diambil sama Fatur lalu gua dipaksa ke bawah. Akhirnya gua ke bawah. Lalu gua sembunyi main komputer bentar di komputer 7D. Lalu gua ke FO dengan bujukan di Ferdi. Taunya apa? Gua diboongin lalu ditarik-tarik gua biar nyebur. Untung mereka ngamanin tas ama HP gua. Lalu gua diceburin. Gua pengen naik didorong lagi. Terus, Udah, gua ke Front Office, lalu diceburin lagi. Byuurr kejebur kedua kalinya. Sepatu ampe plenyot gitu. Lalu gue diperingati ama penjaga kolam. Lalu dateng Pak Joni. Nanyain ke gue kenapa diceburin. Lalu saya pulang dengan tubuh basah tanpa jas hujan.
