Young, 63, has recently announced plans to tour Canada and will be in the Port City on April 11. And if current reviews are true then fans of the chamelon-like performer will be treated to Young at his angriest, brashest self.

The tour is to promote Young’s latest album. Fork In The Road will be the singer’s thirty-fourth solo release and is scheduled for a spring 2009 release. Rumored to a concept album about eco-friendly cars, the title track and first single can be found on Young’s website.

The Winnipeg- born musician has always refused to be pidgeon holed as an artist and has delighted in producing music that challenges fans and critics alike. True to form fan reactions to the new songs have been mixed, with some claiming it to be his best work in several years while others are left shaking their heads in disbelief.

But the Canadian concerts promise to offer enough classic Neil to please many long-time fans. Young’s recent US shows have seen the iconic musician dip into his songbook for such hits as Old Man, Heart of Gold and the haunting lament The Needle and the Damage Done.

And for this tour, the iconic rock musician and former member of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young has assembled a group of stellar musicians for his backup band. But fans will have to dig deeply into their pockets if they are going to attend the concert. Ticket prices range from $62.50 to $182.50 and that does not include service fees or parking.

Concert prices have so rankled fans and one jaded New York critic suggested that a recent performance should have been called The Cough Up The Bucks show.

But if fans are upset, they certainly aren’t boycotting concerts. Last December, Young performed two shows at Madison Square Gardens in New York City with American rockers Wilco. Both shows sold out, with 26,056 fans paying between $50 and $250 for tickets. The performances generated $2,752,000 in gross sales.

The Canadian tour starts April 6 in Newfoundland with performances in Halifax NS, Kingston ON, London ON, Sault Ste. Marie ON, Saskatoon SK, Edmonton AB, Lethbridge AB and Kelowna BC.
