I have been beauty binging (sp?) lately…more so than normal! This will be a 3 part Haul/Review

I have been beauty binging (sp?) lately…more so than normal! This will be a 3 part Haul/Review. Starting of with face products. I purchased some bronzers, concealers, and face brushes. I love anything TRIAL SIZE because I never finish a full product, I tend to either get bored, buy a new product/brand/color or I didn’t like it and I just paid lots of $$$ for something that I hated. Not a big fan of returns.. but slowly getting over this.

**side note: has anyone tried the Marc Jacobs Dot fragrance? I saw the bottle and it’s was so kayoooot that I smelt it, sprayed it, loved it! I think I’m going to purchase this. It’s a great scent for spring and summer. It’s very florally with a splash of sweetness but not too sweet. LOVE LOVE LOVE!

TARTE - Clean Slate™ Deluxe Primer Trio (SEPHORA $9)

I haven’t opened this yet but it includes an eye primer, a brightening primer, and a poreless primer (this was also in Tarte-To-Go Kit)

TARTE – Prime, Shine & Define Tarte-To-Go Kit (SEPHORA $12)

Includes: Poreless primer, Gifted mascara, and Illuminating Moisturizer. I honestly cannot tell the difference between this primer and other primers I have tried, the mascara on the other hand was phenomenal! It didn’t clump, no spidery effect, very natural, and it did lengthen. I loved the natural effect of it.

TOO FACED – Hot Cocoa Collection (SEPHORA $10)

Includes: deluxe size Chocolate Soleil Bronzer and Bronzer tint. I was looking for a matte bronzer and this was it! I haven’t used it as much.. I think it’s because I want to preserve it, as weird as it may sound. It also smells like chocolate! I would expect this since the name has Chocolate in it, if it didn’t have a scent I would be greatly disappointed.

BENEFIT – Coral my World (SEPHORA $12)

Includes: Mini/Deluxe size Coralista blush and Sun Beam. I really really like Sun Beam! I just love bronzers in general, any kind really! Corlalista on the other hand is pretty pigmented but I’m not sure if I’m a fan just yet. But we shall see.

e.l.f – Studio Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder in St. Lucia (TARGET $3)

I have been using this everyday, the bronzer has a hint of shimmer but no too much and the blush color is perfect for a natural look. A great buy for only $3

e.l.f – Studio Bronzers in Warm Bronzer (TARGET $3)

Not my favorite.. I think it’s more shimmery than bronzy, but hey.. it’s only $3 I’ll make use of it.

NAPOLEON PERDIS – Foundation Stick (ULTA $39)

I don’t think I have found my holy grail foundation but this product is very close to it! I’m mostly a fan because it matches skin tone perfectly! It covers the imperfection without it looking like I am wearing any makeup. Build able coverage and could also act as a concealer. The only down fall for me is that my skin can either be really oily, dry, and sometimes even normal. It’s fickle, really. During the dry times this product will accentuate the dry patches since it’s a stick foundation. But other than that… it’s perfect.

CARGO – OneBase Concealer + Foundation in One (ULTA $27)

I’ve only been wearing this for a few days but so far I am loving this! I used it as an all over face “foundation” today, a little goes a long way..let me tell yah! I dabbed it under my eyes, around my nose, scars, and redness. It definitely works as a foundation but with a concealer coverage and a light foundation feel. If that at all makes sense?? GREAT BUY for sure!

HARD CANDY – Glamoflauge heavy duty concealer (Walmart $6)

A LITTLE GOES A LONG LONG WAY. A LITTLE IS EVEN TOO MUCH SOMETIMES. Such an incredible product for $6!!! It’s definitely FULL coverage and it covers any imperfections you may have. I heard this could be a dupe for Kat Von D Tattoo Concealer. I would test this but I don’t want to spend $25 just for a test :/ *Do you guys remember this brand a while while back? It was sold at Sephora, Nordstroms, Fred Segal, and I’m sure others. This brand was all the rave and I remember wanting their nail polish with the heart ring! I was in middle school and got a green eyeshadow as a birthday gift. I was so excited!! At that time, Hard Candy was expensive for a middle schooler so I was ecstatic for that eyeshadow!*

STILA – Holiday Brushes set of 5 (Beauty Brands $18)

This was a holiday collection and I’m shocked they still had some in stock, which is why they were on sale. For $18 I could not pass this up! They’re soft and my favorite is the blush brush.

REAL TECHNIQUES – Stippling Brush (ULTA $9.99)

It blends well and I like the handle on the brush, it fits comfortably, It’s a brush I’m not a good reviewer for brushes because for the most part they all work the same.

Have you guys tried any of these products or have any recommendations for me? (let’s think on the affordable side though unless I really really need to check it out then maybe I’ll make the investment) I’ve got eyes and lip hauls coming up!

There might be a story there. Have you ever witnessed a parent who forbid their child to do somethin

There might be a story there.

Have you ever witnessed a parent who forbid their child to do something that yourself wouldn’t think twice about letting your own child do? You find yourself wondering why that parent is being so strict.

There might be a story there.

I consider myself a laid-back parent as to what I let my children do. I want them to experience life, take risks and feel free and unrestricted to a certain extent. There is one thing however that I do not let my children do.

It’s because there is a story there.

When I was in 3rd grade, there was a boy in my class that I was good friends with. We sat next to each other and would giggle and laugh during our lessons. He was part of our group that played tag at recess. He was sweet and nice to all of the girls.

One day he didn’t show up for school.

The teacher sat us all down and explained that he had died.

She told us that the boy had been eating a hard candy called Lemon Drops. He had tilted his head back and tossed one in the air in the attempt to catch it. He did catch it but it got stuck in his windpipe. His Mom was sitting right next to him and witnessed this. She was a nurse and immediately began doing the Heimlich maneuver and other things to dislodge the Lemon Drop. She did not succeed.

Two girls and I sang at his funeral. It was the first funeral I ever attended. It was the first death I ever experienced. It was something very confusing to me and I remember holding out hope that he would come back. I didn’t understand the finality of it all.

That story has stayed with me forever.

It became even more profound when I had children of my own.

People have offered my children pieces of hard candy and I have politely declined on their behalf. My children have asked for hard candy and I have told them no. I go through their Halloween bags every year and remove it.

I do this because there is a story there.

Most of you know by now that I change my nail polish every 3 days, and my inspiration comes from anywhere. This week my inspiration came from flipping through fashion magazines. I love the new Kate Spade spring collection, so bright and colorful. My favorite things are the quirky Taxi accessories.
(See below)

Recently I bought a nail polish by Hard Candy called “Black Tie Optional” #651. It’s a black and white chunky assorted glitter polish. It’s a really fun take on glitter polish because there are so many different shapes of glitter, and it does not sparkle. Originally I’d been wearing it over pastel colors for spring but the ad made me want to try the polish over yellow. I paired Hard Candy “Black Tie Optional” #651($4.00) with Rimmel London 60 Seconds in “Sunny Days” #710 ($1.50). It came out great! I love it, hope you do too!

Hey everyone so firstly I just wanna say I really want to try to start posting everytime I paint my nails which would almost be every 2 days lol, but if you don’t know already I have a now 7 month old and it’s hard work let me tell ya. Not to mention I do it all by myself, so I take the pictures and when I have energy I edit and post them. So please don’t think I’ve abandoned my blog… anyways this post today is in my opinion an interesting one. Why? Because this crazy polish that you see here was always catching my eye on other blogs (vampyvarnish) and even when I finally find the hard candy polishes (at another walmart location) I still had my eye on this weird polish.

This is called Jubilee made by Hard Candy, and its part of the Crystal Confetti Collection. I titled the post Ugly or Cute because when I first saw this polish I thought of Jalapeno goo with like cut slices of red bell pepper hahaha. I mean come on who would want to look like they have vegetables on their nails? Well guess what? I’M IN LOVE with this weird polish. It has won me over for good! In person I think its the most adorable weird polish anyone could ever wear and I’m so bright that this lime green slime is like POP! look at me! lol I know im crazy.. :-p

So inside the bottle in case you cant see it (Click on the picture to get a good close up) the base is a lime slimish green that is very jelly based. As for the glitters inside there are Silver Hex glitters, Black Hex glitters, Micro Black hex glitters, and even these oh so lovely random Reddish Orange long bar glitters (which you kind of have to maneuver on the nail when applying it). In all the pictures you see I applied 2 coats and topped it off with Seche Vite. If you are wondering if it was chunky uneven etc. It wasn’t that bad, but like I said there was a tiny bit of placement involved with the long bar glitter. ( no biggie really)

Would you ever where this polish? Is it ugly or cute? Comment below I wanna hear opinions. Tell me what you think Hard Candy was thinking when they made this oooey gooey goodness. Its a win for me!

Til next time!

I have a confession. I love bingo. I really, really, do. I love all sorts of bingo. Online flash

I have a confession. I love bingo. I really, really, do. I love all sorts of bingo. Online flash bingo, money bingo, candy bingo. I used to think bingo and I had a connection defined by fate. For the last couple of years we would go to a campground on my birthday weekend and rent one of those fancy campers. Every year on my birthday the theme for the campground’s weekend activities was “Bingo Bonanza”. Crazy, right? It is fate!

You would think for someone who is so connected to bingo would win at least one game, right? No. Dear friends, I kid you not, I have never once felt the joy of yelling out “BINGO” in a crowded hall. I get ahead of myself though. Let me begin with Wednesday.

As you know, it has been an interesting week. I had crazy, drama, D&D session on Sunday; crazy, drama, marriage talks on Monday; Tuesday was normal, with the exception that I was in THE WORST PAIN OF ALL TIME! I blame being a woman. Wednesday wasn’t too much better, but K and I had told my mom that we would attend bingo with her.

Mom helps out with bingo on Wednesday at one church and Fridays at another. She is serious about helping out at bingo. I started to think about it, bingo is a popular pastime at church, so bingo must be God’s favorite game too! I mean, if most of God’s houses have special nights for bingo playing patrons, this could be a good conversation opener. Like, “Hey, God. It’s been a while. I thought we could chat for a bit about our favorite game, bingo. Afterwards, do you think you could help me with my life? Oh, hey God, you missed B9, they called that a while ago.”

She picked us up at my house and full of anticipation, I leave for a ride in the death van. Anyone who has ever been in any car with my mom operating knows they better buckle up and start praying. She doesn’t understand simple things, like braking, when she is driving. I started texting my goodbyes while we were on our way, and asked her at one point if she wanted me to drive, but that wasn’t happening. We made it, safely, and I went out to embrace my first time at bingo.

You see, I have never played in a church hall. I have never played in the casino. I have only ever played in school, online, and at the campground. I wasn’t prepared.

Tables, as far as the eye could see, were set up. There were tables with “Reserved” place cards, people already sitting at most. There was a kitchen and free coffee. FREE COFFEE! This really was my place! God was listening and he was here and he brought me FREE COFFEE! My step father was already there and had saved us some seats. K and I wandered over to the free coffee table, looked over the kitchen menu, and decided it was time to get our bingo cards.

This. Was. Crazy. It was one table with about 6 people sitting at it. You went to the first guy and handed him $2. He gave you a instant win ticket and a raffle ticket. You go to the next guy and get the package cards. This was like a booklet of colored bingo cards, probably like 6 different colors. This was $4 a book. Then you go to the next person and get the winner take all game, pay them and move on to the special game, then move on to the next special game and then the quickie. Hand monies, move to the next. I was so confused.

K went to the Friday night bingo with my mom, so she was a pro. We went back to our table, and there was someone else there who told K she didn’t want to sit there because she plays “a lot of cards”. Basically, she kicked us out and we went to the table behind us. This was my first clue that bingo was not going to be filled with people who were just happy to be playing the game.

There was a lot more work to this bingo then I had remembered from my other days. You had to tape the like cards together, you had to do the starting game that was already lit up, you had to get out your good luck charms, bears, ticket holders, have a sandwich. People were coming in and setting up their spots. You may not know this, but apparently whatever seat you sit in becomes your forever seat. There may not be names at the tables, but there should be. When K and I tried to move to another table they pretty much stared us down and pointed to the only two chairs that could be available. This was a long table. Another woman came in and sat next to me, there were oodles of space between us and she commented that it wasn’t enough space. You begin to feel shunned.

At 7, it started. The caller took her place and silence filled the room. Monitors came on to show the balls being drawn. People got serious. Brows furrowed, dabbers dabbing like the wind, you could hear a pin drop. You start to get close, dabbing, looking at your tickets, watching the numbers needed dwindle down. Just 4 numbers left, 3, ohmygoodness it’s 2 numbers! At this point you start to think and plan out how you will call your bingo. Will it be triumphant BINGO! Will it be softly said with the hand raised? Will you jump up and proclaim it for all to hear or hunker down and not make eye contact? It is high stakes, people! This is not your 4th grade bingo!

What really surprised me is how angry people get while playing bingo. This is God’s game in God’s house! You would think that it would be peaceful and neighbor loving! Oh no, it isn’t. When a bingo is called you can see it in everyone’s faces. It is all the negative emotions you can think of spelled out on these faces. People who sit across from you are now your enemy, looking over from the sides of their eyes, sizing up your bingo sheet. When it is called, there is a low murmur that runs through the crowd, some still looking at their sheets, checking to see if maybe they can cash in as well, or hoping that it was a false bingo.

I love to people watch and this may have been my most favorite of experiences. I want to keep going back and just watch. You wouldn’t think of bingo as high emotions, but oh, it is. It is serious business. I didn’t win, not a single game. I think I came close once, but close only counts in horseshoes friends. I have given up any hope of ever winning bingo, which means I can just enjoy it without really feeling that anger and disappointment. I will eventually learn the crazy kite, the jail bars, and the postage stamps without having to stare at the screen or have to draw it out on my sheet in pen so I don’t get confused.

On flip side, I did get to see people coming together; families sitting together, friends catching up after a busy weekend. You could tell for some that this was their social environment; people were happy to be there, happy to see others. I liked spending the time with my mom, and K. It has been a long time since I have been able to do anything with my mom and this may be the thing that we can do. It’s also nice to see her in her element, not just as mom and grandma, but as her. She is a caring person with a huge heart, and it never shines more than when she is out socializing. It’s nice to hang out with K as well; we seem to have this old lady thing about us and the things we like to do together. Bingo may make some people mean, but it is still love to me, which is maybe why it is God’s game.

After a successful 2012, Madonna has progressed from being just your average millionaire to the first female billionaire of pop music. But the addition of the Material Girl into the billionaire (mostly) boys club is more than just a culmination of one good year. It’s the result of a cleverly strategized career that has spanned three decades, 12 albums and more than a handful of business ventures that allowed Madonna to take her career — and more importantly, her money — into her own hands.

Calling 2012 a good year for Madonna is clearly an understatement. The singer was the top-earning pop star thanks to her record-breaking MDNA world tour, which made over $300 million dollars in ticket sales, according to Pollstar. Not to mention, as the The New York Post reported, she made $75 million in merch sales over the course of the 88 shows and pulled in another $10 million in TV rights and DVD sales.

Madonna doesn’t just rely on her music to bring in money, though. Last year she raked in an estimated $10 million for her Material Girl clothing line and shoe line. She also earned $60 million from sales of her debut perfume, Truth or Dare, exclusive to Macy’s, a store that your average Madonna fan can afford to shop at.

The icon also makes good business choices. She teamed up with Smirnoff Vodka and made $10 million dollars. And even though no exact numbers have been released, it’s been reported that her investments in Vita Coco coconut water and gym chain Hard Candy have earned her a good chunk of change.

Throughout her career, Madonna has also taken chances to ensure she made a pretty penny off of her music, even when the industry was dying a slow death.
