The First HD was invented on December 14, 1954. An externe festplatte is a type of hard disk drive which is connected to a computer by a USB cable or other means. Modern entries into the market consist of standard SATA, IDE, or SCSI hard drives in portable disk enclosures with SCSI, USB, IEEE 1394 Fire wire, e-SATA client interfaces to connect to the host computer. The internal structure of External hard disk drives is similar to normal hard disk drives in fact they include a normal hard disk drive which is mounted in a disk enclosure.

The standards are supported by all major modern server and desktop operating systems and many embedded devices. Obsolete systems such as Windows 98, Windows NT or old versions of Linux older do not support them out-of-the-box but may depend on later updates or third party drivers. Where Modern External hard drives are compatible with all operating systems supporting the relevant interface standards they operate with, such as USB MSC or IEEE1394.

The internal structure of external hard disk drives is similar to normal hard disk drives in fact they include a normal hard disk drive which is mounted in a disk enclosure Dozens of former HDD manufacturers have gone out of business merged or closed their HDD divisions as capacities and demand for products increased profits became hard to find. There was also an important manufacturer during the 1980s but stopped making disks in the early 1990s amid the shakeout and now concentrates on technology licensing.

Author: Patrik Moore Source: ezinearticles.com Many had been anticipating on the newest game console

Author: Patrik Moore
Source: ezinearticles.com

Many had been anticipating on the newest game console released by Sony. Currently, they had issued many prior consoles in different specifications and sizes. Since their initial announcement dated August 2009 at the GameCom convention, many had been eying on how the new PS3 slim will revolutionize our gaming experience.

If you already have an existing game, “Game Console“, medium even if its from Sony or other brand counterparts, the question is, is PS3 slim worth getting? Will this in a way or another compensate the money that we will shell out just to have this? Together let us assess if this is indeed a worthy investment.

Price wise, this is a smart choice because Sony has cut the price to $299. Earlier versions had zoomed higher than this initial release. Much more other counterparts are more expensive than what Sony had been offering since the first week of September. The physical components of the PS3 slim is 32% thinner, 36% lighter and consumes 34% less power compared to its predecessor. It has this piano black finish making it look classic and elegant. One major thing that is noticeable is its brand name. It has been changed to PlayStation 3 from the usual caps lock branding.

Upon purchase it already has a built in 120 GB hard drive that can, “Game Console“, be found at the front part of the unit for easier access. It is also upgradeable which is a big factor intended for hard core gamers who wish to expand for more games. The warranty will not be voided if a possible upgrade will be made thus giving us consumers’ greater flexibility for customization purposes.

Other wonderful features that you might find useful and compelling to buy one are its WiFi, new disc system and bravia integration. Like its former consoles it also has WiFi making it more convenient for you to see and download more games and even movies. In addition it also boasts its blu-ray disc drive found at the front just above the hard drive. If you happen to have a Sony Bravia television, the PS3 Slim can be quite an incentive. It currently offers Bravia Sync that easily integrates your console to its television sets.

With its functionalities, it also contains other flaws that might help you wonder whether to purchase one or not. One, it has no IR receiver port that is responsible for universal remote usage. Furthermore, it has no backward compatibility feature that won’t allow PS2 games to be played in the new PS3 slim. This might be a great factor to consider especially to gamer enthusiasts who had learned to love the former games in PS2. For geeks and nerds, not allowing an OS installation in this new game console might be heartbreaking. Its predecessors allow OS installation such as Linux for personal customization.

With its own doses of advantages and disadvantages, perhaps you already weigh in the factors that you strongly hold as to what you need for a new game console. If you are prepared to shell out the $299, then by all means get the PS3 slim. But if it doesn’t suit your preference or it doesn’t contain what you want then stick with your current game console. Bottom line is you must be enjoying what you have for this is the aim of all consoles made available in the market.

In my day job, helping people with computers, I see many failed hard drives. If the computer is under warranty, I’ll always try to get the system manufacturer to replace the drive rather than order a new one for the customer. Recently, two clients came in, one right after another, and it really illustrated the differences between Apple (s aapl) and everyone else when it comes to hardware support. “Lauren” bought a sub-$1000 PC, but didn’t consider the support costs and time involved. If she had, she might have second thoughts about her decision to buy a PC.

The Dell Experience

Client #1 comes in because Windows won’t boot. The minute she turns on the PC, I know the problem. It’s that horrible high-pitched clicking noise that is worse than nails on a chalkboard to any technician. It’s obvious the drive has failed and the solution is to replace it. I booted off a test CD and verified the hard drive failure.

Fortunately the computer is under warranty. No big deal, Dell (s dell) should replace the hard drive. I call Dell. After 20 minutes on hold, I’m not getting a live person, so I try the online chat and wait and wait and wait. Eventually, someone comes online. The first obstacle is that the client is a student and the father bought the computer via his work. Dell will not assist us until we tell them the owner of the computer and the shipping address. Arrrgh. So we play a multiple choice game for about 20 minutes trying to find out which name and address it was under.

We are now at about an hour. When we get the “correct” answer to the shipping address, our tech then begins to help us. I explain that the hard drive is making a high pitched clicking noise and the system doesn’t show a hard drive. First, the tech wants me to try a special diagnostic that is preformed off the hard drive. Of course the hard drive is dead, so we go back and forth with that I must be doing something wrong. His English was so shaky that I often didn’t understand his questions. (How does one answer ”Is this issue not facing now?”) Eventually the tech believes I’m doing it right and then asks me to boot off a CD that come with the system, which of course the client doesn’t have. We’re supposed to look for the disks and contact them again, but I refused. The client didn’t know where the disk is and we needed this resolved.

Eventually, the support person realizes we don’t have the disk, but he now wants us to open up the computer and reset everything. We’re now at the 1.5 hour mark. Eventually the agent agrees the hard drive should be replaced. Thank you! However, they must ship the hard drive to one of their contracted field techs per her warranty. Actually, that’s lucky; sometimes you have to ship the computer back to Dell. Her warranty was “upgraded” to include on-site repair. The tech will then contact her to set a time to install the hard drive. Three days later, there was no contact from the tech, no hard drive. Fortunately, I gave her a loaner and got her up and running.

We tried calling Dell to no avail. There was no record of the request for the hard drive. Eventually we contacted Dell “Unresolved Issues” and the hard drive was shipped. Total time on the phone: three hours. Delay in hard drive replacement: almost two weeks. The time involved on the chat I assure you is very typical and it’s not just Dell. I see it with HP/Compaqs as well. Service is simply not part of their deal.

The Apple Experience

My next client had a Macbook. I could hear it was the same problem immediately. Ironically, it was the same brand and size of hard drive as was in the Dell. I entered her serial number on Apple’s support web site, and it showed the computer was still under warranty. We then set up a “Speak to an Apple Expert” call-back for about 20 minutes later. On the dot, the technician called. I explained the loud noise and told the tech I booted off the Leopard DVD and the hard drive showed errors. He agreed to ship a new hard drive the next day. Total phone time was less than five minutes and it was 30 minutes from problem diagnosis to closure and less than 24 hours from the time I called until the new hard drive arrived on her doorstop. Again, this interaction was very typical.

For the sake of argument, let’s say these clients didn’t use a consultant to solve their problem. The Mac client could have made an appointment with a genius if an Apple store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider for the repair. The PC client has no physical store she could go to unless she bought that PC at a store that also offered warranty repair.

The phrase “Penny wise and Pound foolish” comes to mind. Did the first client end up saving money because she bought a PC?

When it come to Recovering Data from your crashed computer it becomes very difficult to know where t

When it come to Recovering Data from your crashed computer it becomes very difficult to know where to start from.
There are several ways to recover data. This post explains few easy task that may help get the right techniques to find a solution.

Check the Stability :
Upload some files that are non-critical. You will have to try to open and close each of the files. If you do not receive a system error message stating that the file is corrupted, This gives us a idea and let us know that the system is operating within acceptable parameters and is both storing and retrieving data properly.
After you have confirmed this, feel free to move onto data recovery.

Data Recovery:

After you have completed the formatting process, the data recovery process will require

you

to upload your recovered information and data. This can take a lot of time if you have a

large amount of data. Make sure to monitor this process closes – especially since you have

just reformatted. Your system may flash message with errors or questions pertaining to

different files. Make a careful notation regarding these files. Once you have completed your

data recovery upload, you will need to check each of these files manually. Keep in mind

that even one error on one file can seriously compromise your system and its performance.

Once the data upload process has been successfully completed, you will need to manually check the key

files for your programs. Open each to ensure the data uploaded correctly and is intact. It is possible that,

in some cases, it may be necessary to details and then reinstall at least some of the software on your PC.

Recovering your Data with Software

If you are not comfortable performing your data recovery yourself, you can buy software that is designed

for Windows data recovery. Using this type of software is especially helpful for anyone who is not

technical as it will give you guidance while attempting to retrieve your data after it was lost during

reformatting, partition damage or deletion. This software will work unless your hard drive was physically damaged.

When you format your drive, you change data partitions. As such, data recovery software will help you retrieve the data that was located on previous partitions and in corrupted areas of the drive. This software is designed to recover data after the formatting of the older FAT (File Allocation Table) and the newer NTFS. This software will work for all Windows OS’s from Windows 98 to present
However If you feel that there is some other damage or if the hard drive is not responding in that case you can contact a data recovery service nearest to you place .

If your data is sensitive or very important,in that case make sure that you go to a trusted data recovery technician, If you are staying in Orange County, Irvine , Montclair, Tustin, Brea, Torrance I suggest you acnt warehouse store They charge you only when data is recovered or else no fees for data recovery.

I needed some extra storage space, so I decided to purchase an external hard drive.
However I wanted to avoid all extra power cables, and a bulky device which is hard to carry around.
Regular external hard drives are mostly built to be placed on a desk next to your laptop.

Therefore I preferred the portable hard drive solution. Portable hard drives are powered via the USB cable/connection, and they are designed to be easily carried around (small size, low weight).

The product that I finally went for was a Verbatim 500GB, the Executive Arctic White edition.

Here is a quick list of the specifications:

Dimensions: 135mm x 85mm x 25mm
Weight: 163g
Interface: USB 2.0
Operating System: Win/Mac

It is advertised to have a 25% improved data transfer rate.
I guess I will have to test that under large file copy operations.

It also comes with a two-year guarantee, hope I won’t need it.

Imation has announced a brand new external hard drive which also happens to be the first wireless USB external hard drive in the world so far. We’re surrounded by more and more wireless devices so a wireless hard drive was probably bound to arrive. Imation is the first company that came up with such a device. The drive promises to offer fast data transfer rates, enough capacity for your needs and it’s ready to free up some precious space on your desk.

The Pro WX Wireless USB drive is basically a 3.5-inch 1.5TB drive that can connect wirelessly to your computer thanks to an USB dongle. The drive has a range of up to 30 feet and you’ll be able to enjoy transfer speeds of up to 15MBs/second. That means you can “back up a typical CD in under 50 seconds” and store up to 300,000 photos or 750 hours of video on the Pro WX. If you’re worried that hackers will be able to take advantage of that wireless connection then rest assured that Imation came up with a new one-to-one connection which will prevent signal interception.

The drive comes with a couple of interesting features like a low capacity/data activity indicator, built-in sleep mode and one-touch backup sync buttons that will let you easily backup all your precious information.

So how much will Imation charge for this wireless drive packed with features? The MSRP is $449.99. What do you say? Is it worth it?

Via Nexus404

This is pretty incredible, but at this stage of the game the price will prevent exposure to the masses. I give it a couple of years and they’ll be as common as your standard jumpdrive. I’ll be waiting…

After I upgraded my desktop to Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala), I received an error message from Palimpsest that my hard drive has bad sectors and that I should backup and replace it. I noticed on ubuntuforums that other users were reporting similar messages. It has also been reported as a bug on launchpad.

I have System Mechanic 6 installed on my Windows XP partition. I ran the hard drive repair tool on both partitions and it did not mention anything about bad sectors or needing to replace the hard drive.

I have a Seagate hard drive and I installed Seatools. I ran the diagnostic tests and my hard drive passed.

The current range of Hardbox hard disk drives seems startlingly under-reviewed, so I am going to give you my thoughts on their desktop line.

The Hardbox drives are available in various capacities, but the one I have has a 250GB capacity. I bought it from the wonderful stockist Pine Digital Ltd.

The product that I have on my desk is large-ish and coloured in a striking orange and black scheme. The power cable is provided as is a USB cable. Once these are both plugged in, the drive boots up. I thought at first it’s a noisy racket, but compared to Seagate or WD offerings, it’s quite quiet. The exceedingly bright LED is a feature of annoyance, though – it lights up the whole room.

The drive seems to work happily enough (pre-formatted) like a plug-and-play device, and copying media through a USB hub is fast enough (no Firewire). There is also backup software for Windows users who don’t have Time Machine, which is good for Mac folk. The backup can be initiated by pushing the single, LED-ized button, which confusingly turns it on and off as well.

As functions and looks go, the drive is really just like any good one you can pick up, but from where I got it, quite a bit cheaper. The price per GB is good and the energy saving mode which stops the disk from “spinning” is very nice. In this mode, the stupid light is also dimmed slightly.

Over the course of time, the drive has filled slightly, but it’s big enough for a huge archive and I particularly commend its reliability – even without generally accepted precautions this drive keeps ticking.

I recommend this product with a 4/5 star rating – it is reliable and cheap, as well as easy to use, but the interface is a bit silly for me.

P.S. A good Christmas present and good for all kinds of storage – replace that CD cabinet in your father’s study, maybe?

A few days ago I read about the Microsoft investment to search for new technologies in the construction of computers. Today, there came news of a curious patent covering the construction of a magnetic bag to be connected to the PC.

This bag, made from magnetic material and iron can interact with the graphical interface in different ways. Pressing on it, in fact, the computer will receive the pulses of the pressure and convert them into functions to interact with the graphical interface. In the future, if you become an accessory, you can rub the surface to use your computer as you have never done until today.

Drinking up to bottle of wine a day can cut heart disease risk

Drinking up to a bottle of wine a day cuts the risk of developing heart disease in men by half, controversial new research has found.

Drinking anything between a quarter of a glass of wine up to a bottle a day reduces the risk of heart disease research has shown

The study has confirmed that low levels of alcohol protect against heart disease but it also found that high levels of consumption still reduced the risk of developing the condition. Experts warned that the protective effect against heart disease did not get bigger the more people drank but the risk of cancer, accidents, mental health problems and liver cirrhosis do increase with high consumption. Others said the study was ‘flawed’. The study, published in the journal Heart, was conducted in Spain, one of the world’s largest producers of wine but with one of the lowest death rates from heart disease. The authors found that drinking between five and 30 grams of alcohol a day, the equivalent to less than one UK unit to almost four units or up to one large glass of red wine, reduced the risk of developing heart disease by half. The protective effect did not increase significantly the more people drank and those with the highest consumption,11 units or more – the equivalent to over one bottle of red wine a day – still had a 50 per cent lower chance of heart disease. The effects were seen for all forms of alcohol and were not limited to red wine, which previous research has suggested was especially protective for the heart because of substances in the skins of red grapes.

The results were women followed a similar trend but were not significant because of relatively few women in the study developing heart disease so the data could not be relied upon to be accurate. The study conducted by a team of doctors and epidemiologists at Government departments and Universities across Spain, involved questioning more than 41,000 people aged between 29 and 69, who did not have heart disease when enrolled and who were followed up for an average of ten years. Prof Mark Bellis, director of the centre for Public Health at Liverpool John Moores University, said: “The message from this study is that the coronary protective effect of alcohol begins at a relatively low level of consumption and does not significantly increase the more people drink. The protective effect is in place at around one quarter of a normal glass of wine daily. “The danger is that this study will be interpreted that there are no health harms from drinking large amounts of alcohol but you have to be very careful looking at one disease with alcohol consumption. Our work has looked at more than 40 different diseases and the risk of almost all of them increases with high consumption of alcohol, particularly cancers.” Prof Robert Sutton, Professor of Surgery at the University of Liverpool, said: “This study suffers from several flaws, so cannot be taken to suggest that high levels of alcohol intake can improve health.

“This new study was based on self-reported information in which those drinking more stated they had less heart disease, but those drinking more would probably be less likely to see doctors and have heart disease identified. “Surprisingly, the authors state that determining what type of alcoholic beverage has been consumed is actually of no public health significance, but many would disagree. Nor was there any attempt evident to determine the pattern of drinking – less frequent, higher doses are likely to be more harmful to some parts of the body than others.

“Most importantly, all other alcohol-related diseases were completely ignored so that a highly biased view of the effects of alcohol results.” A spokesman for the Department of Health said: “A wide range of studies, including the World Health Organisation summary of the evidence, find many negative effects of drinking above the lower-risk recommended levels. This includes an increased risk of stroke and cancer. Research also shows the harmful effects of drinking excessively on heart disease. “We will consider this particular report in full, but it is important to note this is currently one study amongst a wide range of published research into the relationship between alcohol and heart disease. It needs to be looked at alongside other research and to be considered within the whole body of evidence on this topic.”

Chinese diners eat live fish in YouTube video

Animal rights campaigners have criticised the Chinese over their extreme eating habits after a video of diners eating a live fish became a hit on the internet.

The film, in which a part-fried fish is shown breathing and wriggling on a plate as it is being slowly eaten alive in a restaurant, has been posted on the video-sharing website YouTube. In order to keep the carp alive chefs cook its body but wrap its head in a wet cloth to keep it breathing, before covering it in sauce and serving in on a plate.

The YouTube video shows diners, who are laughing and joking, prodding the fish while it is still moving, before picking it apart with chopsticks. Peta, the animal rights group, called the video, which had more than 120,000 views on YouTube in a week, “disgusting”. A spokesperson said: “Every decent person should be shocked when anyone mocks or abuses a helpless dying animal.” It is not the first time that the Chinese have been criticised for their extreme eating habits.Reports have claimed some restaurants offer monkey’s brains. Other dishes include rats, dogs, snakes, lizards and baby mice.Last month Stephen Fry was criticised by the Chinese embassy after he singled out the Chinese culture as being the biggest threat to some endangered species.“It is not very pleasant for us to single out a culture, but, if you care about lions and tigers and whales and sharks, it is the Far East and the way they eat, or the way they attempt to cure themselves, that seems to be the biggest threat,” he said. A spokesman at the Chinese embassy responded: “I don’t think it is fair to accuse other cultures of having certain negative habits and traditions.“We have our traditions, as the Spanish have bullfighting, and you, until recently, had foxhunting. We did not criticise you or the Spanish for this. Tiger bones for traditional medicine are now banned, to the suffering of the Chinese industry.”

The Royal Navy Should Blow Em Out Of The Water !!!!…..Sharks off the British coast: Oil tankers refuse to unload until prices rise… keeping YOUR fuel costs soaring

These tankers have been parked off our shores for months, refusing to unload their oil until prices have risen even higher. The delay makes millions for speculators… and keeps your petrol costs soaring.

Laden with fuel, three oil tankers sit idly within sight of the British coastline, playing a waiting game that is driving up petrol prices for hard-pressed motorists. They are part of a flotilla of ten vessels refusing to unload their cargo until market speculation has driven up its price to the level they want. And as the value of that cargo is currently rising by over £1million a day, driven partly by profiteering traders and speculators, it is unlikely to see a petrol station any time soon.

Three of the flotilla of ten tankers that have been anchored in Lyme Bay, off the Devon Coast, cynically waiting for oil prices to be driven up even further. With such tactics, it is not hard to see why prices at the pumps are forecast to have risen by 26 per cent in a year by this Christmas. AA president Edmund King said: ‘Traders and speculators seem to be storing up oil until the price rises. Drivers can expect more hikes in the pipeline. Motorists are paying the price of this at the pumps.’ Residents near Brixham in Devon have watched with growing anger as the tankers have anchored in Lyme Bay for the past two months. The price of a barrel of oil has increased from $40 a barrel a year ago to $80, with the cost expected to soar even higher in the next few months.

Petrol prices are expected to rise even further in the next few months

Even from the start of the tankers’ stay in Lyme Bay, the value of the oil they carry has risen from £313million to £378million – an increase of £65million, or more than £1million a day. It means a 21 per cent profit for doing nothing more than simply watching and waiting. Record amounts of fuel are now being stored in such a manner around the world – indirectly helping to push up petrol prices on the forecourt. Oil pumped out of the ground by the major producers such as BP, Shell and Exxon goes by pipeline to tankers which then circle the globe. In the course of their journey the oil may be bought and sold to different traders many times on the international commodity markets, often in just one day. Some of these unidentified oil traders may be big-name players within the industry, but others could be the ‘Arthur Daleys of the international oil world’, say City experts. The price drivers pay at a forecourt – currently touching 110p-alitre or £5-a-gallon – is largely determined when the oil reaches an onshore refinery, from where it takes two months to work its way through to the pumps. But until it gets to the refinery speculators are free to drive up the price thanks to the age-old capitalist model of supply and demand.

If the price is not high enough, the tankers simply cruise around the high seas – or park in a safe haven – until it goes up sufficiently high to sell on in the UK or elsewhere. City analysts say the refusal to unload ultimately drives up the price motorists pay at the pumps. Experts say every $2 rise in the price of oil puts 1p on the price of a litre – adding 50p to every fill-up. In total, the Lyme Bay tankers carry a million tons of oil. Once refined, that will create 250,000 tons of petrol – equivalent to 340million litres – enough to fill up nearly seven million Ford Mondeos.

A spokesman for Brixham coastguards said the huge ships were now a familiar sight in the bay: ‘Some have been there two months or more,’ she said. ‘They’re awaiting orders. The cargo will be worth more now than when they first arrived.’ As the Mail reported on Tuesday it was disclosed that petrol prices were on track to have soared by 26 per cent this year – fuelled by speculators and tax rises – and were set to hit 110p a litre by Christmas. They are already at 108.6p a litre with diesel just short of an average £5 gallon at 109.8p a litre. The last time prices were so high was when oil was trading at $100 a barrel in September 2008.

The extent of oil speculation is even beginning to alarm producer countries. The Arab-dominated OPEC oil cartel warned last week it will increase supply and thus reduce the price if the speculators do not relent. One of the giant crude oil tankers, the 159,300-ton SKS Segura, registered in Norway, first arrived on September 24 – more than eight weeks ago. The 50,300-ton Tristar Kuwait tanker, registered in the Bahamas, has been awaiting orders in Lyme Bay since September 2.Another anchored in Lyme Bay is the 43,000-ton Alkman, also registered in the Bahamas, which arrived on November 1. The 72,000-ton Petali Lady, registered in Liberia, has been anchored in Lyme Bay since September 27. And the 99,000-ton Danishregistered Torm Ingeborg has been there since October 10. This is not the first time tankers have anchored in Lyme Bay. Several ships did the same last April before moving on.

I’m A Celebrity: Katie Price panics during her third trial in the jungle and faces a showdown with Kim Woodburn

The celebrities must be wondering if they will ever get a chance to prove their strength and courage against the critters of the jungle after Katie Price was given her third bushtucker trial. The mouthy glamour model has had to do every task since she entered the jungle and looked visibly shaken as the public voted for her to do yet another. In a live trial last night, she shook violently as she took part in a jungle school trial where she faced snakes, worms, spider, baby crocodiles, eels and a beetle-based goo.

School’s out: Katie Price had her plastic mac and boots filled with cockroaches last night during her third bushtucker trial in as many days

The glamour model had to complete stand still while they poured the critters inside her coat – until she was saved by the school bell

She had to plunge her face into desks filled on one side with a stinking, sticky goo full of meals worms to retrieve a star, and other other with meal worms, spiders and other critters. At one point, Katie hyperventilated as she came up for air and contemplated sticking her face back into the hideous mix. The next ‘lesson’ was English, where Katie had to remove pieces of word painted with words from a tank of snakes and complete Shakespearian quotations.

Tuck shop: Katie tried and failed to drink a beetle juice

Chemistry: She plunges her arms into gloves full of fire ants to move test tubes (left) into the beakers on the right

This was followed by her retrieving a star from the bottom of a tank full of baby crocodiles (with their mouths held with an elastic band). But the star finally balked at a large glass of beetle goo. She attempted to drink it, cheered on by the other celebrities, but after taking a sip, retched and passed to the next task. She obtained another star by putting her hands into gloves filled with fire ants to pour a test tube of liquid into a glass beaker using tongs but knocked a second tube over and lost another star.

Yuck! Katie comes up for air after trying to find a star in a desk full of stinking goo and meal worms

Gino D’Acampo, Joe Bugner, Lucy Benjamin, Kim Woodburn and Justin McAllister look on Katie’s live trial in horror

She failed her maths task, where she had to climb into a pool full of eels and pick up one, after solving the equation (3+2) – 4 + ? Her final task involved standing in a pair of plastic galoshes and rain coat while cockroaches were poured into the jacket and boot. She managed an impressive nine stars out of 12. TV presenter Justin Ryan told her: ‘You’re a machine Katie. Well done.’ Newcomer, boxer Joe Buger was more interested in rubbing the cockroaches off her chest. Earlier in the show, viewers saw Katie taking part in yet another trial.

Katie laughs as Kim Woodburn lays into her for claiming she came on the show for ‘peace and quiet’

Kim (centre) tells Katie (right) that she is a ‘publicity seeker’ and later does an impression of her showering and posing in her bikini

She yelled: ‘I knew it. I said it again, didn’t I? It’s so out of order. I predicted it because I’ve got so many haters out there.’ But she added: ‘It’s weird, I’m just not as ballsy as I used to be.’ Ahead of the trial, she said to the Bush Telegraph: ‘Some people want to see me and some people want to see me suffer. I can only do my best but I hope the public give other people a chance to do it, don’t pick on me. ‘Six years ago I would have been game for anything but I just can’t do it anymore. I’m just a wimp.’ She had to lie inside the a bottle with six corks at the neck of the bottle. She had to unscrew each section – worth two stars – after answering an Australia-related question.

The second trial: Katie renoves cockroaches from her mouth as she lies in a giant bottle filled with the critters

Facing her fears: The glamour model was covered in the cockroaches

Inside the bottle were 60,000 cockroaches, the most used in any trial, 10,000 crickets and two buckets of meal worms. Katie got off to a bad start after the inside of the bottle spun causing the critters to fall on top of her. She got the first question wrong after being asked which animal killed more people in Australia. She answered shark when the answer was horses. She gained two stars when she successfully spelled kangaroo backwards and deduced that if a camp mate completed a trial and won eight stars but lost half, then found two, they would return six stars to camp.

Bottling it: Katie managed to gain four stars in the trialShe lost another four meals for her camp mates when she unsuccessfully gave he wrong answer to how many types of venomous snakes are there in Australia – the answer was 115. Her fifth question also saw her lose two stars when she was unable to put Dannii Minogue, Kylie Minogue, Shane Warne and Rolf Harris in order of age, youngest first. Visibly uncomfortable, with cockroaches crawling into her mouth, Katie successfully completed the final question, which involved her repeating the sentence, ‘G’day Shelia, chuck us another shrimp on the Barbie,’ in an Australian-ish accent.

Covered in roaches: The star took off her top to shake off the critters, prompting host Declan Donelly to insist she ’shake them all off.Shake it all’ As she climbed out of the bottle she ripped off her top and realised she had lost hair extensions during the task. But although many of the celebrities were impressed by her ‘hard core’ attitude to camp life, one contestant began to attack her.Katie asked the camp mates what they really thought of her now they’d met her, compared to their preconceptions. Kim Woodburn told her: ‘You’re a publicity seeker. You live and die for publicity and you do it well. As Shakespeare once said, ‘We fear you protesteth too much.’ ‘You said you escaped to come in here but you’ve got 12 million people watching you every night. What I’m saying is you do publicity very well and you protest all the time but love it. You live it and dream it.’ Katie laughed off the claims and said: ‘No, I used to love it.’ Kim then went on to do an impression of Katie in the shower, pouting and posing. She told the model: ‘You came from the shower the other day and, as a woman of 67 I thought, ‘grow up’.’

Retired boxer Joe Bugner entered the camp to the delight of Kim Woodburn and Colin McAllister – but frightened others with tales of jungle creaturesThe other contestants looked shocked as Kim continued: ‘Katie, you love it darling. You love it and I don’t blame you. For some reason you fascinate the papers. Go for it as long as you can but don’t pretend you’re not causing a lot of it please. ‘Because you cause it all. And that’s telling you straight. You asked and I’m telling you. I’m not blaming you.’ Katie replied: ‘You make me laugh’ and added: ‘We’re all talented in our own way, Kim.’ But Katie later looked upset by the outburst, even as she told Chef Gino D’Acampo that she was ok. ‘I’m like a robot,’ she said. ‘You can fire any bullets you like at me. It went [over her head]. That’s nothing, I actually wanted to laugh because I thought it was funny. ‘Kim, she battered me. She did a bit. I was laughing. That’s nothing.’ But Kim has been causing other problems too.

Sabrina Washington and Stuart Manning won a chest full of popcorn after completing a simple mathematics quizGeorge Hamilton has finally reached his tether with Kim’s snoring. Having shared the bus for three nights, the actor admitted: ‘Kim has a very hearty snore. I’ve never heard a snore like that. I’ve never slept with a snore like that. ‘I don’t think any of the ladies I’ve known in my life snore. I can tell you for a fact that Elizabeth Taylor is not a snorer.’ Meanwhile, newcomer and retired boxer Joe Buger, who replaced Camilla Dallerup after she quit, impressed the campmates. The sportsman, who has lived in Australia for 20 years, managed to terrify the others, particularly Lucy Benjamin, with his talk of the beasts of the jungle. ‘You can never get used to it,’ he warned. ‘The fact of the matter is you can turn a leaf over and it can bite you.’ He added: ‘The cane toad is the worst. Ticks will kill you. Leeches, watch them, they will suck your blood dry.’Tomorrow’s challenge is ‘hell holes’ where contestants must climb up a wall and reach their hands into a holes filled with critters.

They’re basically enclosures for hard drives and they serve that purpose. There are thousands of different enclosure designs. Hitachi just released their updated SimpleDrives, which look pretty different from anything else we’ve seen.

The technology of solid-state drives are the future in the storage area, is a fact. More and more no

The technology of solid-state drives are the future in the storage area, is a fact. More and more notebook manufacturers in fact take or propose an alternative to traditional hard drives, solutions of this kind, which have many advantages over devices that make use of heads and platters.

First of all the lower energy consumption and increased reliability and resistance to shock impact, since there are no moving parts, so wear and tear. In the now wide panorama of offerings in the sector stands OCZ, which yesterday released on the market the family of 3.5-inch SSD Colossus, which opens the doors of the desktop market for this type of solutions.

This is dispositrivi that combine the benefits of this technology and the large storage capacity, limit, set at a price higher than the traditional hard drive, was so far the only partial constraints on the effective dissemination of mass of these systems .

Characterized by high performance, summarized by the maximum transfer rate of 260 MB / sec for both reading and writing, with a value of 220 MB / s for the activity continues, the new OCZ SSDs use interior architecture that realizes a configuration RAID 0 between the memory chips that make up the unit.

Available in denominations of 128, 256, 512 GB and 1 TB, is joined to the already existing series of 2.5-inch SSD American brand, come with three years warranty and their MTBF (mean time between failure and l ‘else) is held by 1.5 million hours. Prices at the time not yet announced.
