I could not get much done during my ride with Selena due to a lot of distractions at the barn. We mostly walked and did just a bit of trotting. It was practically not a blog-worthy ride :^P After our ride, I gave her a bath. While she was drying, I put two coolers on her and let her munch hay in her stall. The cheeky girl decided it was a great time to roll in her stall, right on the pee spot. Now I’m stuck with two stinky, shaving-encrusted coolers. Blech!

But Wizard’s ride was definitely blog-worthy! We took a walk on the trails with Mary the Morgan and her owner and Wizard was FANTASTIC. It was one of the best rides I’ve had on the trails with him. We rode for about an hour and I dismounted when we walked past the pigs but he stood like a perfect trail pony for me to remount for the rest of the ride. He got a little rambunctious when we were walking behind Mary for part of the ride but was sterling once he was on the lead. Was it the Ulcerguard? The rice bran? The senior feed? The schedule? The increased turnout? The alfalfa? The ground work? Who knows. Whatever it is, I need to keep it up.

Both horses got trimmed by the farrier. I kept Wizard’s shoes on and kept Selena barefoot. If I end up giving Wizard time off over the winter, he will get his shoes removed and Selena might need them if we increase her workload but both seem fine for now as is. And they both earned a week-long vacation while I go to California to watch their cousins run in the Breeders’ Cup.

You know in Mario Cart when you are driving along and you get the star? All of a sudden music starts playing for you, you drive way faster, people stay out of your way or get jacked up and things just generally go your way, even if its only 30 seconds.

That’s the idea behind this post: One balls to the wall song that is like downing a monster energy drink or for responsible adults a Sparks. Something that amps you up and gets the heart pounding.

Feel like you are in a real life not funny version of “Office Space?” Have to work until 2 AM? Bored out of your mind and want to go to sleep?

Nino Moroni è un ragazzo emigrato in Australia tra gli anni ’60 e ‘70 di cui non si hanno più notizie. Il nipote, David Florio, ha ripreso il brano dello zio e lo ha aggiornato, mantenendo il nome dello zio per rendergli omaggio. Insieme a David Florio, al progetto collaborano Enrico La Falce e Mauro Tondini, forti di una collaborazione pluriennale sulla produzione musicale.

La canzone è rassegnata, maliconica e leggera e si mischia perfettamente con la tragicomica amarezza delle grame sorti di Carmela e Amedeo, i personaggi di Bello, onesto, emigrato Australia sposerebbe compaesana illibata. Il mashup dell’esodo estivo.

Per la serie Bellissimi di Rete 4, dai creatori di 10 Things I Hate About Commandments e Must Love Jaws , l’attesissimo Glen & Gary & Glen & Ross, la straziante storia di quattro amici affetti dalla sindrome di Tourette. La disperazione non lascia loro via d’uscita finché la strada per la salvezza si manifesta in un medico visionario che con caparbia e fermezza insegnerà loro come comunicare e ritornare a sperare. L’intensa e commovente interpretazione di quattro star guidate dalla regia rigorosa e intensa di Mike Dow e Ari Eisner. Buona visione.

Não é novo (apesar de que, Daft Punk sempre será novo pra mim) mas me passaram por esses dias essa “interpretação” de “Harder Better Faster Stronger”. Muito criativo! Tem as versões Hands também (aliás, foram as primeiras), mas a Bodies é muito mais legal. Bastante coordenação:

Vous vous souvenez du petit logiciel iDaft dont je vous avais parlé il y a quelques temps? Et bien une version pour iPhone est sortie. C’est toujours aussi amusant de pouvoir jouer les Daftpunk en live et remixé Harder Better Faster Stronger. La version 1.1 vient de sortir et propose la deuxième version des sons (pitch plus élevé) et la possibilité de mettre le beat original en fond. Divertissant et téléchargeable via l‘AppStore.

I opted not to renew my gym membership. It wasn’t a terribly expensive membership, being a Sports Council gym rather than any of the higher end commercial gyms (although truth be told I got the membership so that I would feel obligated to go, as I’m sure many do).

While I still feel the urge to lift weights (anybody who works out can tell you you can actually feel your muscles atrophy slightly when you stop going to the gym regularly) I’ve picked up the slack a bit by running. I used to run regularly, then on-and-off and then not at all outside of hitting the treadmill at the gym. I’m slowly picking up the pace.

I used to not be able to run at all before NS, any type of running would leave me winded. That’s at least one thing I’m grateful to the SAF for.

One of the things I really like about running is that it gives you time to think, away from the distractions of the world. I really like the solitude and while these days I find it difficult to run without having earphones plugged in I’m thinking of doing away with the mp3s/radio and just running for the sake of it. Running; good for the mind, body and soul.

Imagine Burt Bacharach mistakenly plugs in his grandkid’s iPod, and instead of hearing George Gershwin, it blasts Daft Punk — and the mix-up inspires him to write an album recreating what he heard. The result would probably sound a lot like Rules, the new release from the Whitest Boy Alive, aka Erlend Øye (formerly of Kings of Convenience).

Øye effectively marries his pristine pop sensibilities to the dance-rock genre, backed by a crack rhythm section that plays like a super-computer with a soul (even more impressive when you consider that Rules has no overdubs). Øye’s white-chocolate vocals mostly ponder relationship woes, but even lines like “No need to shout about it / I’m sick and tired, too” can’t kill the party vibe. And that early Daft Punk comparison is for real: “1517” pulls a Kanye and completely lifts the chords to “Harder Better Faster Stronger,” but it ends up sounding more human than Human After All.

…and it takes awhile to get started, but once it gets going it’s pretty impressive.

Como vão, pessoas? Hoje venho falar de algo muito interessante: Daft Punk. Pessoalmente, não sou muito fã do gênero da música eletrônica, especialidade da dupla francesa. Mas como muitos de vocês, conheço (e curto muito) algumas das músicas, em especial One More Time e Harder Better Faster Stronger, uma das mais famosas.

Essa última ganhou atenção nos últimos anos graças a alguns vídeos. No mundo do YouTube, a primeira criação foi Daft Hands:

Bem criativa, a “dancinha de dedos”  brincando com a letra da música foi um sucesso e inspirou várias versões, de diferentes autorias, incluindo várias versões aceleradas. Em seguida, veio Daft Bodies:

Mesma idéia, aplicação diferente, outro sucesso. Esqueci do hit por alguns meses, e esta semana me aparece este brinquedo:

idaft é uma brincadeira com Harder Better Faster Stronger, que permite ao usuário “montar” a música, que se baseia nessas 16 opções.

Fiquei brincando alguns minutos, até que me lembrei da primeira vez que vi Daft Punk, em algum momento da minha adolescência. Na época, tanto a música quanto o clipe me chamaram atenção de cara – ou talvez mais o clipe, em estilo Anime (desenhos japoneses), do qual eu era e ainda sou um grande fã.

Lembrei de ter visto dois ou três clipes, e o mais legal de tudo é que cada um deles era um capítulo de uma história. Resolvi pesquisar.

Primeiro passo da pesquisa: Descubro que Harder Better Faster Stronger, One More Time e outras fazem parte do mesmo disco, Discovery.

Segundo passo: Descubro que todos tem em comum os clipes em estilo anime.

Terceiro passo: Descubro Interstella 555

A verdade é que todos os clipes do disco realmente foram feitos de maneira episódica, integrando, juntamente, o musical Interstella 555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem. A história, com várias ligações com as músicas, acompanha uma banda de quatro alienígenas humanóides, que são raptados e levados à terra, onde são transformados em estrelas da música. Em especial, novamente voltando ao que já foi falado, o segmento em que têm suas aparências e memórias modificadas é o mais legal, sendo ao som de – adivinhe? – Harder Better Faster Stronger.

Uma pesquisa rápida ao YouTube revelou que toda a história está disponível, dividida em episódios ou tudo junto (abaixo):

Com 1 hora e cinco minutos de duração, recomendo para os amantes de música e animação. É uma viagem e tanto. Se tiverem dúvidas da qualidade da produção, saibam que foi responsabilidade da Toei Animation, gigante da produção de animações no Japão, responsável por vários sucessos mundiais. Aliás, isso fica claro na aparência de alguns personagens: o guitarrista Arpegius segue o estilo de desenho de Cavaleiros do Zodíaco e Stella, a baixista, é a cara de Maetel, de Galaxy Express 999 – ambos produções da Toei.
