Yes, I know, they’re are millions of videos of girls dancing to anime music (the Hare Hare Yukai comes to mind…alot) but some stand out from the rest, some become idols in Japan, some still try their best. Just like the ‘How-to’s’ I will be blogging on some videos/channels that stand out to me and should be watched by all.

The first channel I am posting on, is a user named bekluvsdiru (youtube)/ichigodayo (NicoNico). For purposes of this article, I’ll be using her youtube name, considering that’s where I found her first. bekluvsdiru is (what seems like) your normal average eighteen-year-old female otaku that has a talent in dancing. (Note the lack of a but conjunction)

I know it’s been literally an entire semester since I’ve posted a Weeaboo Wednesday, but look, I actually don’t know that much about Japan. I guess I could have kept reviewing weird hentai that I “accidentally” came upon, but I am pretty tired of getting hits from search terms like “world of warcraft tentacle” and “kkids fucking”.

In any case, I HAVE SOMETHING TO SHARE WITH YOU, SOMETHING ABOUT ANIMES!!

LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT THE HARUHI DANCE!

The Haruhi dance is the dance performed by the cast of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya in the above clip, which apparently comes with the end credits to episodes. Youtube is trying to tell me that there is a season 2, but I refuse to believe it, mostly because the thought of watching a shrill, unlovable, authoritarian teenage girl prance around and sexually abuse less shrill, less unlovable teenage girls any more than I already have is unappetizing, to say the least.

Other than the inverse/reverse/anti-bro-rape (sis-rape?) and the ESPers and the time travelers and the alien robots going pew pew pew with their lasers and the bizarre order in which episodes were originally broadcast, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is actually an incredibly boring exemplar of the “slice of life”/”school life” genre. For those who do not begin the morning by refreshing the “Recent Updates” page on onemanga.com, any manga or anime falling into this category pretty much always begins with some sort of a classroom scene depicting daily life at school, then goes on to show how two or three or several students become friend, and then moves on to club activities and so on, and climaxes with a very exciting school festival. Haruhi is no different, except there are fewer transvestites, homosexuals, secret homosexuals, secret transvestites, and talking animals, and instead focuses on the domineering personality of the title character, and how she might be God.

Oh, sorry. Spoiler alert.

I suppose the series is admirable in a way, especially since the broadcast order (known as the Kyon order), as well as the DVD order, begins with the episode “The Adventures of Mikuru Asahina Episode 00″. This episode is comprised chiefly of a film that the SOS Brigade club (Haruhi and her friends) create for the school festival. Every aspect of it is terrible, from the acting to the script to the “production quality”. The plot is one of a
“magical girls” shoujo, where a(n) (attractive, female) time traveler is sent to protect some dude and also fight against this (attractive, female) alien witch character and then everyone ends up pretending to be normal human teenagers and going to the high school of said dude, etc. Also, the dude has ESP.

So the anime begins by lambasting a particular genre of anime, and then ends up mimicking it to some extent. The girl who plays the time traveler character in the festival film is, actually, a time traveler. The girl playing the alien witch character is actually an alien robot, and the boy playing the guy with ESP is indeed an ESPer. The film’s narrator, Kyon, will the narrator for the rest of the series, and the director, Haruhi, turns out to be God.

Oops, spoiler alert.

OK, so Haruhi does merit some acknowledgement on an artistic level, but for fuck’s sake, it’s so shrill.

The one thing that the show has offer that is beyond reproach is this ultrafuckingcute dance!

Duas danças/músicas de dois animes que eu simplesmente adoro e recomendo. É um pouco inútil e bobo compará-las, pois não há qualquer rivalidade entre os animes, muito pelo contrário, tanto que a pessoa que dubla a protagonista a Haruhi e a Konata (protagonistas de ambas as séries) pe a mesma. Além do mais, em Lucky Star há várias referências sobre Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu (e também de vários outros animes). Eu acho sempre engraçado ver o vídeo com a performance dos personagens em suas respectivas danças. Hare Hare Yukai é dançada pelos 5 personagens principais, o que inclui dois rapazes, o que torna bastante estranho vê-los fazendo gestos tão… gays femininos. Motteke Sailor Fuku conta com um grupo maior de dançarinos, sendo que este é totalmente feminino. Agora vou deixar o texto de lado e mostrar os vídeos. Duvido  muito que não tenho visto pelo menos um deles alguma vez na vida. E então, qual preferem?

Y creo que ultimamente con tanto post sobre Haruhi no le estoy haciendo honor al nombre del blog… pero supongo que la ocasion lo amerita (o quizas sea debido a mi naturaleza de KyoAni fanboy).

BTW, aNGEL me invitó a colaborar en Sugee, su excelente blog de noticias de anime, J-music y asdf… y adivinen sobre que trató mi primer post… en fin, ya se terminara el hype y los Haruhi haters podran navegar por internet tranquilos de nuevo… o quizas no, la ultima vez, a pesar de los trolleos duró casi 3 años.

     In the past few years, few anime have made the same kind of splash as the one The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya made.  Based on a series of light novels by Tanigawa Nagaru and Ito Noizi, it’s about the ridiculous adventures of a certain girl named Suzumiya Haruhi.  Somehow, she has the ability to unconsciously manipulate reality.  Since she wants there to be such crazy things as aliens, time travelers, and espers, there are.  And because of a little conversation, poor Kyon, the other main character, has been dragged into her life.  The two of them, along with Nagato Yuki, an bibliophilic, artifically-created alien, Asahina Mikuru, a beautiful, easily coerced time traveler, and Koizumi Itsuki, an almost freakishly friendly-looking esper.  Together, these five make up the SOS Brigade, or SOS-dan, and they go off on wacky adventures, some of which accidentally involve the powers of the three not-so-normal members.

     So, we’ve got this crazy premise.  The characters are all completely unique and different.  The most obvious of those is Suzumiya Haruhi, whose personality alone is like a force of nature.  She’s quite probably one of the greatest female protagonists in anime history.  And Kyon is her perfect foil, which makes their blossoming relationship in the end seem even cuter.  The dialogue is absolutely hilarious, often about such ridiculous things as what new outfit Haruhi is going to force Mikuru to wear and what crazy thing Haruhi is trying to find next.  The soundtrack is extremely famous, including Hare Hare Yukai, the ending theme song which has been a gigantic hit for years.  The song itself is wonderfully catchy, and the dance has been copied and repeated all over the world.  Each of the seiyuu does his or her character perfectly.  It’s some of the best voice acting that I’ve ever seen, even in Japanese.  This was where Hirano Aya, one of the most popular seiyuu in Japan and the seiyuu for Haruhi, became famous.  It’s only fourteen episodes, but that should chance soon, as a second season should be coming out pretty soon.  I, for one, can’t wait.  Even with so wacky a premise, this show is superb.  It’s funny while at times being extremely emotionally touching.  I just know that I wouldn’t want someone like Haruhi to be telling me to do anything.

     After their smash hit anime, the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya,  Kyōto Animation decided to adapt a popular 4koma series to the screen: Lucky Star, by Yoshimizu Kagami.  Lucky Star, like another series, Azumanga Daioh, features the daily lives of a group of high school girls.  The main character, Izumi Konata (voiced by Hirano Aya, who also voices Suzumiya Haruhi), is a female otaku, spurred on in her lazy habits by her father’s behavior.  Then, there are the Hiiragi fraternal twin sisters, Tsukasa, the sleepy airhead, and Kagami, a hardworker who frequently criticizes Konata.  Lastly, there is Takara Miyuki, a typical meganekko who uses the most polite Japanese possible and knows the most random facts.  Together, these four friends, along with their other friends, families, and their crazy gamer of a teacher, Kuroi Nanako, navigate the difficulties of Japanese high school.

     Since both Lucky Star and Azumanga Daioh are 4koma based on high school written by a guy, it’s difficult not to compare them.  Now, both shows are quite popular in Japan, though Lucky Star occupies a bit of a different niche because of the way it caters to otaku.  Nonetheless, Azumanga Daioh is, in basically every way, the superior show.  The jokes in Lucky Star are often amusing, but there are other times where they just seem to ramble on for no particular reason.  Like the whole choco cornet thing.  That wasn’t that funny.  Some of the funniest moments are in the Lucky Channel segment, featuring Kogami Akira and an animated adaptation of real-life seiyuu, Shiraishi Minoru.  The two of them are a hilarious pair, and I’m surprised it took so long for Minoru to finally get fed up with Akira.

     This show has some gorgeous visuals, and the main characters being in basically constant chibi-mode (Konata especially) stays both true to the manga and fits the style of the story.  The soundtrack is really cute, fun, and memorable, and the opening theme song, Motteke! Sērāfuku, is a nice song that really reminds you of the famous Hare Hare Yukai.  Overall, this is a really enjoyable show.  However, it’s not the best of its kind at all.  Maybe it’s a show that is better understood if you really get Japanese culture.  But I also just think that its reputation suggests that it is better than it really is.

Okey, så jeg skal egentlig gjøre noe helt annet akkurat nå, men siden samfunnsfagpensum ikke akkurat er det mest spennende i verden, og jeg faktisk har internett rett foran meg her, er vel valget fairly obvious…

Jeg så “Battle Royal” i går, derav tittelen. Jeg lurte på om jeg skulle ta: “What’s wrong with killing? Everyone has there reasons.”, men tenkte at det høres ganske ille ut hvis du ikke har sett filmen, og kanskje tror jeg mener det eller noe i den duren. Bare for å ha sagt det: det er ikke mitt sitat, det er Mitsuko som mener det;P (Og hvis du ikke skjønner noe av det jeg snakker om, se filmen. Bare vær ops på at den faktisk har 18-års grense;p jupp)

Forresten så så jeg en genial video på nettet for noen minutter siden:

Var det noen som sa at anime er skadelig? Det mest geniale er kanskje sånn 6 minutter inne i videoen, hvor det er bilder fra et bryllup;P 

Ingen skal komme å si til meg at anime ikke er populært rundt om i verden… Hvor mange forskjellige karakterer finner ikke du som danser hare hare yukai dansen, kanskje?  

(igjen, hvis du ikke skjønner hva videoen er, kan du bare pelle deg bort herfra… eller pelle deg til et con av ett eller annet slag…. eller bare se Suzumiya Haruhi….. ;P )

PS: Sorry for at denne posten er så random. Jeg hører nemlig på hare hare yukai-sangen i bakgrunnen, og da er det veldig vanskelig å tenke helt klart…

La melancolia de Haruhi Suzumiya, es un anime extraño, empezando porque los capitulos no estan en orden, los ves en desorden confunden.

Les contare, este anime, era una novela, luego fue un manga que aun se reproduce en Japón, incluso tiene una serie en la radio, basado en el anime.

El anime trata de trata de la vida de la estudiante de secundaria superior Haruhi Suzumiya y de aquellos que quedan atrapados en sus locuras. Aunque Haruhi es el personaje central, la historia es contada desde el punto de vista de Kyon, uno de sus compañeros de clase.

Kyon es un estudiante de secundaria superior que recientemente ha dejado atrás sus fantasías de sucesos paranormales, viajeros del tiempo, y aliens, junto con la escuela secundaria inferior. Sin embargo, cuando elige hablar con una chica excéntrica que responde al nombre de Haruhi Suzumiya el primer día de clase, intencionalmente desata una cadena de eventos que lo llevan a situaciones enteramente diferentes del mundo real.

Haruhi recluta a Kyon a la fuerza para que la ayude a fundar el club, al que llama Brigada SOS, aunque a él tan sólo le interesa proteger a otras víctimas indefensas de los “arrestos voluntarios” de Haruhi. Conforme la historia va progresando se revela que cada una de estas supuestas “víctimas indefensas” tiene una razón para estar allí.

Un poco más tarde, Kyon se hace la pregunta de “¿Quién es Haruhi, para él?”, y cosas por el estilo, dándose cuenta de lo importante que es el punto de vista que tiene Kyon de Haruhi.

El manga tiene 3 volumenes,  y el anime 14 episodios, mas un videojuego.

Bien, este anime no tiene ninguna historia de amor, o de rocestipo romantico, en absoluto, trata sobre cosas paranormales, viajeros del tiempo, ovnis, una chica que tiene poderes de un Dios,etc.

Los Openings  y endings muy de acorde a este anime, sobre todo el opening de Bōken Desho Desho?, y el ending mas divertido es “Hare Hare Yukai”, donde en el video podemos ver a tosos bailar, muy divertido, hasta se antoja.

Creo que la frase celebre de este anime seria: “No tengo ningún interés en los insignificantes humanos. Si hay algún alien, viajero en el tiempo, fantasma o alguien con poderes paranormales aquí, venid, y uníos a mí.”

Este anime fue uno de los mejores en el 2006, elogiado, puesto en un trono de oro.

La verdad a mi no me gusto, no se si sera porque no es mi tipo de anime o no se, el primer capitulo lo vi 3 veces y me seguia sin gustar, pero decidi seguir, no me daba risa en absoluto, el mismo personaje de Haruhi, lo odiaba, y generalmente no odio a los protagonistas pero a ella si, me parecia abusadora, me molestaba que todo tenia que ser como ella queria sino se acababa el mundo, no se en verdad no me gusto, pero digamos que distrae, solo es una opinion para otros si es la mejor.

Yeah always listen to them. I was suppose to go on a trip down to sugarland with my mom and brother. I didn’t want to go because I didn’t want to deal with babysitting my 4 cousins who are all under the age of 7. or 8…..I can’t remember. Anyway they are all girls so that makes it even worse. I mean get 4 guys together and you just have to make sure they don’t kill each other. With girls you have to….well…..I wouldn’t know. I honestly only babysit guys. Mainly because I can understand how a guys mind works. I also get along well with guys. With girls I’m clueless. Even now I don’t understand them. They are so fickle. See ladies us guys aren’t that deep. We have like 3 layers at most. You girls have like 30. The most I can understand is like 5. Then I lose interest and leave it alone. The funniest part is that you ladies like to act like we have more then 3 layers. We don’t. We pretty much tell you what we think. It’s something we are good at……hmmm I feel like I’ve said this before. Oh no I”m repeating myself. That’s not cool. Oh right where was I. Oh right, well my brother called up and sounded miserable. Turns out that my mom did bring take the girls and make them spend the night. My brother got vomited on. Oh and his bed got attacked too. It was great. It’s exactly why I didn’t go. I knew I would have to deal with those kids. I was so not in the best frame of mind when we were suppose to go. So now I’m at home, not vomited on or smelling vomit. Don’t think my brother is going to be too happy when he gets back tomorrow. Well I’ll let you know when it happens. So I shall leave you with this media. It is perhaps the best ending ever. It’s from the anime the melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi. It’s called Hare Hare Yukai.
