Frank Warren has produced documents that he says shows Ricky Hatton is contracted to him for three more fights.

Frank Warren made public yesterday documents he insists show the world light-welterweight champion Ricky Hatton is contracted to stage three more fights in his promotions and confirmed that he will seek a court injunction to prevent Hatton from fighting on any other bill.

Warren produced a letter he said was sent to Hatton’s father and manager Ray in December last year, by recorded delivery, that stated details of an alleged telephone conversation in which the two men had agreed a promotional deal. A subsequent contract for a fight against the American Ray Oliveira, signed by Hatton and witnessed by Robert Smith, assistant secretary of the British Boxing Board of Control, was also shown.

Hatton’s father Ray has said he did not see the agreement, having thrown the letter in the bin, and claims Hatton is a free agent. “We signed a bout agreement, not a contract for future fights,” he added.

He has struck a deal with Sky for his son to fight the Colombian Carlos Maussa, the World Boxing Association champion, on November 26.

Warren said yesterday: “This is all about greed. The promoter is always cast as the villain, but it’s not the case.”
