I can never make it through this Christmas carol without at some stage breaking out into uncontrollable giggles. It’s impossible! With my tongue-tied and all the birds showing up on wrong days, I usually throw in the towel just before the lords leap!

Leaping Lords!

While I am at it, lets just briefly discuss a few of these days. Please do not EVER send me 12 drummers drumming. I know the level of noise that just one adolescent drummer can make. 12, NO, not so much. This goes for the pipers too. I am dying to see 10 lords leaping! The reality will probably be a sad disappointment to my imagination, but still worth the effort. Please Santa. As for ladies dancing and milking it – yeah I have seen enough of that too. I love the peacefulness of the swans and sure, why not 5 golden rings! No calling birds please and do send over the French hens because I am so intrigued to see if they parle francais. If you give me doves, please forgive me when I let them go free and just the pear tree if you will, partridges are a bit scary unless as the main course. So with that out of my system…

Why a Pear Tree?

The song has inspired generations to come up with their own version of the 12 days of traditional merry-making and festivities, ending on January 5th with Epiphany. Sure hope I get mine this year!

12 days of cookies, 12 days of shoes, 12 days of cocktails, 12 days of must read books, 12 days of bands, 12 days of yoga, 12 days of breakfast in bed (yes please!), 12 days of sweet nothings, 12 days of inlaws (AHHHH!), 12 days of gifts and so on.

How about 12 Days of Peace. Now there’s a concept.

So, to add to the already impossibly long list of 12 Days of Christmas Themes, I contribute with ….

Are we seeing a theme here? Everywhere I turn it’s a tribute to the Eighties for fall 2009… and I like it! Marc Jacobs wasn’t exempting himself from this nod to the neon era, but added a futuristic twist. There wasn’t a kilt in sight, just loads of bright hues, pleated trousers, sculptured cocktail dresses, colorful ponchos, printed leggings, thigh-high boots, all worn over black tights and topped with coiffed hair. Throw in some serious ’80s block shades, padded clutch bags, and long leather gloves and it was clear that Steven Sprouse for Louis Vuitton was still very much on Jacobs’s mind. Overall, it was daring, exciting but above all, fun. That said, I’m sure many will struggle to transfer these looks into wearable pieces, let alone afford to buy them. And sadly, at a time like this, that’s a worry.

How would fashion be materialised for the modern street samurai? Would there be a sleek black or white garm with a head piece of sorts covering the eyes, and some sort of sleeve for today’s samurai weapon? Maybe a silenced automatic weapon that would wield teflon bullets and sharp exploding stars. What do you think? Well whatever this trained 007 style assassin would wear when out anihilating his foes, the Rag & Bone brothers David Neville and Marcus Wainwright have their interpretation of such a collection of stylish garments. Found in elite fashion merchandising around the world. This brand of men’s, women’s, and children’s wear is not for the timid at heart. Verdict? HAUTE!

I must admit I’m drawn to the new over-the-knee boot trend. I once waved my hand at them, immediately deeming them “street” worthy. But I think I’ve come around. So what do you think? Here’s my fav of the well-priced bunch:

Last night was the Jax Shoot Club’s monthly meetup and it was crazy! (in a fantastically chaotic way-what else should you expect with 80 photogs on Hershel’s strip?) I had a great time working with great models in great light and beautiful weather. It was a snappers dream – shooting at sunset on what sure felt like the first day of Fall.
I met some great people and learned some cool stuff to boot! Next investment is a pocket wizard for this girl and a shootsac for projects like these… Christmas is coming right?!
Here is a handful that I had to work on today-it took all I had not to do all this last night.

Emily is an awesome girl who modeled for me in a pinch. What a trooper!! Don’t let the grace and poise she portrays fool you. It was hot and buggy out! She made some beautiful images that were exactly what I wanted. And I loved her look. She was made to be in these shots. She really embodied what the models back in the day had- beauty and curves.  Throw in the natural settings and the fabrics- successful shoot. (not counting the bug bites!)

Il pourrait apporter 50 millions d’euros d’argent frais et garder 119 des 125 employés de la maison que souhaite évincer le groupe Falic.

Les potentiels “sauveteurs” de Christian Lacroix sont à présent:
- l’homme d’affaires italien Maurizio Borletti, qui a repris les 17 magasins du groupe Printemps en 2006 et auquel s’est associé le couturier, Maurizio Borletti est actionnaire à 4 % de la chaîne italienne de grands magasins “La Rinascente”, dont il préside le conseil d’administration.

- le cheikh Hassan ben Ali al-Naimi et la Financière Saint-Germain, holding de le milliardaire algérien Prosper Amouyal, propriétaire des des cristalleries Daum et Lalique, à 50% pour cette dernière.

Le tribunal de commerce de Paris doit prendre une décision mi-octobre et le comité d’entreprise de Christian Lacroix se réunira mardi afin d’étudier l’offre du cheikh.
