Oh and for those from other parts, we call flip-flops thongs in Australia…thought I’d better clear that up in case we have an embarrassing communication mishap!

Thongs in Australia are for your feet. Not your butt-crack.

So…a couple of days ago, I was wearing my blue and pink sundress – you know – the one with the feminine ruffles. Well, you don’t know but please feel free to imagine…

The only thing that could make the outfit more comfortable, summery and stylish were my blue havaiana thongs. Only on this tragic day, I could only find one.

What they should look like when together.

I wandered around the house for at least an hour, wearing only one Havaiana and just hoping the other would appear. Perhaps it would see that it was meant to be with its other half. It’s beloved soul mate, whom without it would be nothing.

But no…and it was time to leave the house. My hubby told me to “just wear the black ones!” but I resisted. I resisted my little heart out. I didn’t care if I was late to lunch. I just wanted to know my other blue thong was safe. Alas, this was not the case. I reluctantly put on my brown pair and walked dejectedly out to my car.

I woke this morning, excited…is that my missing blue havaiana thong sitting there in the family room? Could it be???

But no…it was the other one. The one I had thrown off in the heat of the moment and left sitting there next to my black ones when I went for lunch the day before.

*sigh*

One day we will be reunited. Until then, my life shall never be the same.

There are too many memories to let go. Like the time I accidentally wore one black one, and one blue one to the bank and everyone looked at me funny…and then I realised my mistake and that perhaps it wasn’t a good idea to dress in the dark…

I must go now. I will be wearing my black thongs in mourning.

Rio has the most famous carnival in Brazil and great history when it comes to music having been the place where Samba and Bossa Nova was invented.

The largest city in the Brazil is Sao Paulo, with over 10 million in habitants. Sao Paulo is known as the most cosmopolitan city in Brazil; it has a large number of ethnic minority communities which has lead to it being seen as having the best range and quality of restaurants in Brazil. As well as being known for its food, it’s also well known for its museums such as the Museu Paulista do Ipiranga, the gothic Metropolitan Se Cathedral and the Sao Paulo Museum of Art. Sao Paulo also has the most successful Brazilian football team in Sao Paulo FC, holding the most national and international titles of any Brazilian club.

Finally another amazing city to visit in Brazil is Salvador, which is one of the most beautiful cities in the world; it’s located in the North East of Brazil and is the capital of the state of Bahia. It is known as being the most easygoing city in the Brazil and is famous for street parties and the carnival. Over 80% of the population in Salvador has Black African ancestry which has an effect of the food and music in Salvador. Salvador is the city to visit if you are looking for beautiful beaches and none stop partying.

Whichever city it is that you visit in Brazil you need to make sure you have a pair of Brazil Havaianas, a bikini and that you are looking to have a party.

As canetas Bic aí em cima fazem parte da exposição “Ícones do design- França-Brasil”, que se despede amanhã do Paço Imperial e se encaixa perfeitamente nas últimas discussões sobre as embalagens de biscoito da Piraquê feitas por Lygia Pape, que estão sendo substituídas por uma versão mais “moderna” (leia aqui). Ao falar da Piraquê e das embalagens  das sardinhas Coqueiro criadas por Alexandre Wollner (leia aqui) – e também trocadas por uma versão inferior – não quis fazer uma ode ao saudosismo. O que está em jogo não é tradição, e sim afeto.  É ele a base da história e da longevidade de um produto de design. E, para chegar ao afeto dos usuários, um bom projeto precisa ser bom. Muito bom.

É uma equação quase igual à do ovo e da galinha, mas vou tentar explicar dando uma voltinha. Quando  montei a exposição “Diálogo concreto”, na qual Piraquê e Coqueiro foram grandes destaques, a frase que mais ouvia nas galerias da Caixa Cultural, tanto no Rio quanto em São Paulo, era “Eu me lembro”. A chave está aí: o bom design consegue se incorporar ao nosso cotidiano até se transformar num companheiro de jornada. Comi outros biscoitos na infância, mas lembro de detalhes das embalagens da Piraquê assim que fecho os olhos. Também lembro das inúmeras vezes que um saco de Bolinha ou Presuntinho foi posto em minha merendeira.  Ou da minha avó abrindo o pacote turquesa do Água. Ou do Maisena chegando à mesa para ser salpicado num prato fundo cheio de café com leite. Eu tomava aquela mistura como sopa, como café da manhã, todo inverno.

Na mostra do Paço Imperial, uma galeria de produtos inesquecíveis e sem substitutos. A maioria absoluta ainda é fabricada, alguns com pequenas alterações.

Abaixo, dois exemplos franceses e dois brazucas.

FRANÇA

CANETAS BIC – Parte do lado francês da exposição, elas representam a sedimentação da ideia de caneta esferográfica. Lazlo Biro apreentou a patente do produto em 1943, mas já trabalhava no invento há 20 anos. Mas foi Marcel Bich quem desenvolveu a versão moderna “cristal” inspirada no hexágono de cristal. Reeditando a ideia de um lápis preto, de grafite, a Bic tem ergonomia perfeita. Sua transparência permite que se veja o nível da tinta e as tampas coloridas indicam o tom da carga. Perfeição.

BANCO TAM TAM: Criado por Henry Massonet em 1924, também é conhecido como Diabolô, por causa da semelhança com o brinquedo homônimo. Foi produzido em larga escala, em inúmeras cores, a partir do boom do plástico nos anos 1960.  Banco-fetiche depois que Brigitte Bardot posou para fotos sentada em uma das versões, o Tam Tam sobrevive ao tempo também por sua funcionalidade – divide-se em duas partes com encaixe perfeito e é fácil de transportar e armazenar. O assento é removível e transforma o corpo do banco em um mini-baú.

BRASIL

O lado brazuca da mostra tem outros produtos vitoriosos, como a rede – invenção das tribos indígenas para o descanso -, as sandálias Havaianas ou o clássico desenho de Burle Marx para o Calçadão de Copacabana.  Mas tive que pinçar apenas dois.

COPOS NADIR FIGUEIREDO – Recebeu o nome de “americano”, mas não há copo mais brasileiro do que este. Como explica o texto do catálogo de “Ícones do design”, o Nadir Figueiredo se incorporou à vida no país, servindo da cerveja no boteco ao café pingado na padaria. A versão menor é perfeita para a cachacinha. Vendido por cerca de R$ 3, com mais de 10 milhões de unidades vendidas anualmente, o produto passou a figurar em restaurantes mais sofisticados, preocupados em se afinar com uma identidade brazuca.

ORELHÃO: Os desenhos das cabines telefônicas nacionais variavam muito até que, em 1971,  a Companhia Telefônica Brasileira decidiu elaborar um projeto padronizado para o país.  Diz o catálogo de “Ícones do design”: “A intenção foi criara um equipamento resistente às depredações, que protegesse o usuário da chuva, mas, ao mesmo tempo, fosse adequado ao clima tropical e que isolasse tanto quanto fosse possível o som das ruas barulhentas. O projeto de Chu Ming Silveira, arquiteta formada pela Faculdade Mackensie, logo se incorporou à paisagem brasileira”. Oficialmente adotado em 1972, o Orelhão é mesmo um show de forma e função.

Roupa de Ano novo pra mim é quase como aquela superstição de casamento amerciana/inglesa (uma que diz que a noiva tem que usar algo novo, algo velho, algo emprestado e algo azul). Eu sempre tenho que passar com algo novo, algo branco e algo colorido. Ah, e dinheiro na carteira. Pra não faltar durante o ano…

Pena que eu já reservei o sapatchito pra virada desse ano (é branco com um detalhe dourado e novo), porque a Havaianas acabou de lançar a edição limitada Reveillón 2010. Elas são brancas com um monte de fitinhas coloridas estampadas, cada uma contendo um “desejo” de ano novo: paz, amor, família, amizade e dinheiro. É novo, branco e colorido. 3 em 1!

O valor é de R$ 32,90 e vem com umas fitinhas de verdade de brinde,pra amarrar onde quiser e reforçar o pedido…

Hoje eu fui numa loja das havaianas e piireii! tem cada modelo fofo.. sério, queria comprar um de cada!

Tickets for Glastonbury 2010 sold out on the first day they were on sale. This is not so unusual for a festival to sell out in the first day but it is pretty amazing considering they haven’t even announced the line-up. Traditionally tickets from Glastonbury are released when the first artists on the line-up are announced; however this changed a couple of years ago. In 2008 tickets sales were not what they usually are and by the time the festival began there were still tickets left. There were a few reasons attributed to why the tickets weren’t sold, one being the bad weather at the previous 4 years, the other reason was the choice of headlines, with rap artist Jay – Z considered a strange appointment as a headliner by many of the usual “rock loving” Glastonbury types.

Due to the tickets not selling out in 2008, a pre-registration process for buying tickets early was introduced. This meant the people could buy tickets for the event from the 5th of October almost 8 months before the festival began and tickets for the event sold out within a few months, well before the festival happened.

The same process went ahead for the 2010 event but this had huge first day sales, by the first day of tickets being available all tickets had sold out and it’s only possible to get tickets for the returns which will be released in February.

One of the reasons for the success of Glastonbury is the range and number of artists that they have every year. The first year of the festival, though it was called Pilton Festival then, was in 1970, with 1,500 people attending and the main act for the event was T-Rex. For the next few years the event became more and more popular and attracted a high level of artists performing at the event. Some of the most popular artists over the years have been The Levellers, which set the record for the highest ever stage front crowd, Oasis, Pulp and PJ Harvey in 1995 and Jay – Z who, despite the controversy surrounding him being there, was a huge success and introduced a different type of Glastonbury goer.

Glastonbury festival, unsurprisingly, takes place just to the east of the town Glastonbury. This is in the south west of England in the county of Somerset. It takes place on Worthy Farm which is the farm of the Glastonbury organiser, Michael Eavis.

Glastonbury is not only a music festival but a place for the rich and famous stars to hang out and set new styles for the festival chic look. Kate Moss wearing wellies at the festival lead to an increase in the sales of wellies in that year and more recently there have been a host of celebrities wearing the high fashion Havaiana flip flops.

Outro que infelizmente eu também não tenho a foto, é a Havaianas Daslu, que é branca, com desenhos pretos malhados e uma onça embaixo (parece um dálmata, rs) e as tiras são pink fluo, linda, por 38 reais.

Mais sem fotos, mas tão interessantes quanto é a Havaianas do Jorge Alex, esse tem em várias estampas fofas, por 29 reais.

Se você ainda está se perguntando de onde surgiu esse novo comercial da marca kaiser vou tentar explicar um pouquinho sobre o caso.

A Kaiser encomendou uma pesquisa ao instituto Datafolha e na sexta-feira dia 13 foi lançado o filme do teste cego feito pela Fischer+Fala, com a ilustre presença do ator Humberto Martins. O teste cego, como o nome mesmo sugere, é aquela pesquisa onde os produtos são camuflados de alguma forma e disponibilizados para a prova dos consumidores. E a intenção é clara! Nada de se deixar levar pela marca preferida, escolhendo pela imagem e não exatamente pela qualidade.

Foi por isso que a Kaiser resolver ressucitar o teste cego tão usado antigamente. Porém, o teste não foi tão cego assim. Normalmente, ao comparar marcas concorrentes com o seu produto, os mesmos são apontados como marca X, marca Y. Mas dessa vez eles escancararam. No comercial foram claramente citados os nomes da Skol, Nova Schin, Antártica e Brahma. E pela pesquisa, a vencedora foi a própria Kaiser, desbancando queridinhas como Skol.

O X da questão neste caso é saber se haverá suspensão de veiculação ou não. Em outras ocasiões, testes cegos para cervejas foram questionados pela AmBev, que acabou ganhando na justiça este direito. Se sim, será mais um desperdício de esforços ou mais um case a lá “Havaianas“?

Polêmicas são sempre bem vindas. De alguma forma, sua marca será comentada. O cuidado deve estar naquele famoso limite do respseito. Mas como esse espaço do ComuniqueC é meu, posso dizer: pra mim foi perfeito! As marcas citadas só poderiam ser estas mesmo. Qual o problema em dar nome aos bois? Não vejo mal algum, pois em nenhum momento os concorrentes foram atacados de forma hostil. Uma pesquisa, um resultado, um anúncio. Apenas isso, nada além.
