Painted Canyon Visitors Center Opens

Painted Canyon overlook

April 1 marks the opening of the Painted Canyon Visitors Center at Theodore Roosevelt National Park. The stunning views make this stop a must-see for shutterbugs. There are also hiking trails and cool interpretation.

The scenic drives have officially opened in both the North Unit and South Unit of TR National Park. Spring is a great time to catch wildlife roaming the Park.

Golf Courses Opening

Prairiewood, Rose Creek and Osgood Golf Courses in Fargo have opening. Bully Pulpit Golf Course in Medora is expected to open April 9. Hawktree Golf Club in Bismarck is looking to open between April 10-14 and the Links of North Dakota near Williston is planning an April 17 opener. Dust off those clubs and start swinging!

Hot Diggity Dog

If springtime is making you hungry for hot dogs and baseball games - tune in tonight (April 1) to the new episode of “Food Tech” (airing at 8 p.m. CST) on the History Channel. “Food Tech” takes a look at the making of Cloverdale hot dogs – the official hot dog of the Seattle Mariners. A golf lesson from North Dakota

The September 12th issue of Golfweek has just arrived in the office. In it, Senior Writer Bradley Klein talks about the future of golf – and the lessons to be learned from North Dakota.

“There’s a serious lesson to be gleaned from the spirit of North Dakota golf. In ar era when the industry struggles to retain players, the future of the game requires making sure that golf is inexpensive, accessible and socially welcoming.”

North Dakota isn’t world renown as a golf destination. BUT, those of us who swing a club now-and-then are proud of the fact that we have the highest number of courses per capita and the highest golf participation per capita. There are 115 courses in the state, some have received international acclaim (Bully Pulpit, Hawktree, The Links of North Dakota, and King’s Walk).

Seems like a lot of people are talking about GOLF lately. Actually, in the office there’s a conspiracy forming to get to the driving range at lunch tomorrow … and then next week we’ll all come in early and stay a little late so we can play 9 at lunch. (Sounds like a plan.)

Golfweek has again given some North Dakota courses their “Seal of Approval.” The Links of North Dakota ranked #90 on their list of Top 100 modern courses, and was joined by Hawktree, Bully Pulpit, Souris Valley and Medicine Hole on the 2009 Golfweek’s Best Courses You Can Play list. Many courses are taking online tee times. Join our conspiracy!
