<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>One more celebration and then the dreaded but annual <em>resolutions</em> begin.  You might say to yourself:  “This year I’m going to:</p>
<ul>
<li>Lose weight</li>
<li>Quit smoking</li>
<li>Join a gym</li>
<li>Take better care of myself”</li>
</ul>
<p>Whatever your resolution is, the trick is to keep it going.  The most important part is the first step.</p>
<p>Lose weight is the big one &#8211; next to quitting smoking.  You might want to do both.  Both excellent ambitions and worthy of your utmost attention at all times.</p>
<p>Losing wight is difficult, I know.  My success with <a title="My TSFL Website" href="lorraines.tsfl.com" target="_blank">Take Shape for Life featuring the MediFast</a> meals was the most successful I have ever been on a weight loss program.  I began my journey in May of 2008 and lost 40 pounds.  I’ve kept it off and to ensure I do not gain any of it back, I gave away all of my larger size clothes.  My closet is virtually empty now and I’m happily buying smaller sizes.</p>
<p>Although over the holidays a couple of pounds did creep up on me; I am starting my program again to get them off and possibly lose a little more just to ensure my smaller sizes will continue to fit.  I won’t even mind if they become loose.</p>
<p>What are you going to do to ensure that by the summer, you will get into that bathing suit/dress/slacks (pick one) that you promised yourself you’d do?  The time will pass, you may as well make the most of it.</p>
<p>Have a plan.  Decide when you want to start.  How much weight do you want to lose?  What is your target date?  Don’t be too ambitious.  Aim for about 2 pounds a week. That is do-able.  On TSFL it is not only do-able, it is definite with often more weight loss each week.</p>
<p>Promises to yourself are the most important promises you can make.  The TSFL program will help you lose the weight at keep it off better than any program out there. I know because I was about to give up on ever losing weight.  Now I’m much trimmer than I have been in more than 20 years.  I’m happy and healthy.  My doctor is amazed and happy that I can eliminate prescription drugs.  It’s all good.</p>
<p>I hope you will make 2010 the year you lose the weight and get healthy.  There is no better feeling in the world!</p>

<p>Here we are just a few days from bringing in a New Year and I bet some of you are looking at making a New Year’s Resolution.</p>
<p> According to a recent Nielsen poll the most common New Year’s Resolution, made by Americans, is to lose weight,.  Worldwide the majority of us, 56 percent, will be making some sort of Resolution to bring in 2010.</p>
<p>In the midst of the holiday season and as the year comes to a close its easy to see why losing weight would top the Resolution list as we enjoy the wonderful excesses of food and drink during the holiday season.</p>
<p>The truth of the matter is that we seem so worried about what we eat between Christmas and the New Year, that we really should be more concerned about what we eat between the New Year and Christmas.</p>
<p>Besides weight loss other people will be resolving to quit smoking or to exercise more regularly or even to be able to eat a more nutritious and balanced diet.  Of course, all of these resolutions lead to becoming a healthier, happier, and more productive person.</p>
<p>There seems to be something refreshing and definitive about resolving to make changes at the beginning of a brand New Year.</p>

<p>Hawaii Island Mayor, Billy Kenoi, loves to exercise by having fun in the ocean.  “For me, the roads that lead to physical fitness are the roads that lead to Honoli’i, Lymans and Pohoiki,” Kenoi said.  “I find myself more centered mentally and more energetic when I can spend an hour on a surfboard or get a workout on my new paddleboard.”</p>
<p>“My resolution for 2010 is to somehow find more time to hit the waves, and to set aside time to surf with my kids.  I want to be sure I pass on to them the habits of a healthy lifestyle,” the mayor said.</p>
<p>County Councilman Pete Hoffmann believes that all of us should emphasize individual fitness and good health practices, regardless of our age or profession.  Hoffmann is a man that believes in exercise as he has completed 28 Honolulu Marathons (26.2-miles) with the latest coming just two weeks ago.</p>
<p>“While the general economic downturn might limit the number of potential activities for many families, we are blessed here on the Big Island with a wide variety of year-round sports and fitness opportunities and a climate that supports these efforts,” Hoffmann said. </p>
<p>“There simply is no excuse for residents here not to participate in an active life-style that encourages any number of worthwhile health and fitness programs.  I would encourage all to have this on their personal list of New Year resolutions,” Hoffmann said.</p>

<p>State House Representative, Clifton Tsuji, believes as we age it becomes difficult to avoid putting on some weight.  “It seems to me that the aging process makes me gain weight and lose height,” he said.</p>
<p>Tsuji suggest that jogging and other physical exercise may not be enough to make a change.  “As House Ag chair, please be reminded and resolve to buy fresh, buy local, and eat local, it’s good for you.  Resolve to support Hawaii agriculture!” Tsuji said.</p>
<p>Jerry Chang can often be found on the side of Big Island roads jogging a couple of miles on a regular bases.  The State House Rep has also made a New Year resolution, “I guess my New Year’s resolution is to run at least three miles at least four times a week, and to eat more fruits and vegetables, while cutting down on sweets,” he said.</p>

<p>No matter what your resolution maybe for 2010 the difference between obtaining your goals and failing to succeed lie in your motivation and determination.</p>
<p>Maintain a positive, can do attitude, and believe in yourself and the ability of your inward strength.  You may need to take a step or two backwards during your quest to achieve your fitness goals for 2010, but the advances will continue if you do not give up in yourself.</p>
<p>It is said that continuous effort, not strength or intelligence, is the key to unlocking your fullest potential.</p>
<p>Good luck and here’s wishing all of you the brightest, happiest and fittest New Year.</p>

I always think in my head and worry that, I think I started too late and will never get the body of my dreams. When I read something about &#8220;Age&#8221; in Arnold&#8217;s Bodybuilding book, there is nothing to worry about in age. As they all say, age is just a number. Arnold says, you can start bodybuilding at any age. it doesn&#8217;t matter if you&#8217;re 50-70 or older. It is possible to get a built physique no matter the age you start at. So I have really nothing to worry about the age. So if you claim that you&#8217;re too old for this, that just shows that people don&#8217;t have the motivation for fitness. So don&#8217;t always think that all bodybuilders start at their teens, &#8217;cause that is simply not true. </p>
<p>I&#8217;ve been looking through this book and reading more from it. </p>
<p>My goal for 2010 and new year&#8217;s resolution is to hopefully improve my nutirition. Do the 6 meals a day thing, eating healthy and maybe a few cheats. I am committed and dedicated to getting fit and getting in shape, thanks to Sly Stallone for getting me motivated and getting me inspired to get into it. I&#8217;m not inspired by those profesional bodybuilders, I am inspired by the movie stars such as Sly, Arnold, and Dolph. They pretty much got me into it. WWE kind of got me into it too, but it&#8217;s mostly Sly that inspired me. </p>
<p>Most people know Sly Stallone as an actor and director, but the public ignore the fact that he is a bodybuilder obviously. Wish people would recognize him for that too. </p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Good morning,  Well today is the first day of the rest of my life, well my new health regime.  I got on the scales this morning and had a VERY rude shock.  I am planning on losing 10.4kg and just give my general lifestyle and health a make-over.  My blood pressure was 130/70 the other day, which is high for me, usually being 100/60.  I went for a 30 min walk and am now sitting on my lazy butt on the computer, but a walk is a walk.  And am having a protein shake for breakfast (well early breakfast).  I am usually up at around 5am, but often don&#8217;t eat breakfast until 7:30, so that is a habit I need to change.  Though it feels weird, so I have a protein shake after my walk and then have a proper breakfast at about 7:30-8am.</p>
<p>The inlaws are coming around today to give Will the rest of his Christmas Presents as it was just MAD on Christmas day, and Will just wanted to play with each toy for ages before opening the next present.  He did get terribly spoilt, but it is the first year that he has got excited about Christmas.  Everytime we see anything Christmas he yells &#8220;Hristmas Tree&#8221; and &#8220;Santa Faus&#8221; (not really pronouncing the &#8220;c&#8221; in either situation).</p>
<p>I am currently drinking my warm cup of coffee (on low fat milk, with NO sugar) and have made a new signature for a forum I am apart of.</p>

<p>I love messing around with Photoshop, I have just become interested in digital scrapbooking and have learnt a HEAP of new stuff.  I just can&#8217;t get over how much you can do on Photoshop.  I am also planning to learn Dreamweaver eventually.  I was never really artistic until recently, but am LOVING my new found hobbies.  I am also currently updating my website, and card designs, and am planning for the new version to go live by the end of January, 2010.</p>
<p>Well I better get tidying before the inlaws turn up, as the house is a sty, with Christmas presents and paper everywhere.</p>

<p>I confess, I haven&#8217;t been working out or running like I should.  In fact, I haven&#8217;t really done anything since mid-October.  I usually go to the lake and run, but it&#8217;s kinda too cold for that now.  So I finally got off my ass this week and got myself a membership to <a title="Snap Fitness - site link" href="http://www.snapfitness.com/" target="_blank">Snap Fitness</a> (24hr. access).  I&#8217;ve really missed going to the gym and having some time alone with my HRM, my earbuds and my iPod.  Merry Christmas to me. ツ</p>

<p>My daughter, Lauren, informed me this week, that she is moving in with her boyfriend of eight months and living with him and his father who, by the way, is an alcoholic.  She&#8217;ll be 19 years old in a couple of weeks and there&#8217;s nothing I can do about it except pray she doesn&#8217;t get herself hurt or land in jail.  While this was a major shock to all of my senses, I managed to keep my cool for about two hours before I started <span style="text-decoration:line-through;">yelling at her about</span> questioning her on her decision <span style="text-decoration:line-through;">to totally screw up her life for some kid who&#8217;s been in and out of jail, violated his probation, and who&#8217;s father kicks him out of the house every time he&#8217;s drunk so he&#8217;s left having to roam the streets in the worst part of town</span>.  But whatever.  All I can do is wait for her to <span style="text-decoration:line-through;">come crashing down so I can pick her back up again</span> learn another one of life&#8217;s lessons:  A couple can&#8217;t live on love alone or  You can&#8217;t demand respect from someone if you don&#8217;t respect yourself or Don&#8217;t move in with someone just because he thinks you&#8217;re cheating on him when you&#8217;re not.  Talk about <span style="text-decoration:line-through;">wanting to beat the shit out of some people</span> feeling helpless.  I have to drop her off at the bus stop on January 8th, her birthday.  Maybe that will give me enough time to <span style="text-decoration:line-through;">smack some sense into my only daughter</span> convince her to stay.</p>
<p>I won something!  I mean I actually <em>won </em>a trip&#8230; to Montana?!  Yep, that&#8217;s right, Livingston, Montana, to be exact.  I won it from <a title="Girls Getaway Guide - site link" href="http://www.girlsgetawayguide.net" target="_blank">Girls Getaway Guide</a>.  The prize is a <a title="Flatpenny Inn" href="http://www.flatpennyinn.com/" target="_blank">4-night getaway to the Flatpenny Inn in Livingston, Montana</a>.  After reading about <a title="Girls Getaway (and Fitness Camp) to Montana - site link" href="http://archive.constantcontact.com/fs073/1101803339747/archive/1102651556413.html#LETTER.BLOCK20" target="_blank">Casey&#8217;s experience</a> on the same trip, I am extremely excited about this trip!!  And this all fits in with my list of things to for my 40th year celebration.  This also means I got that gym membership just in time.  This trip is more motivation for me to get in shape.</p>
<p>Christmas day was filled with mixed emotions.  Kim, my husband,  is really upset that my daughter is leaving and it shows.  She&#8217;s broken into tears a couple of times because of the change in his attitude toward her.  He doesn&#8217;t realize the impact he has on her and there&#8217;s a lot of tension in the air between the three of us.</p>
<p>Jacob, my youngest, was thrilled with all of the gifts he received this year.  Santa left him a book with a note about Santa knowing about his dream to become a heart doctor someday.  He thought it was great that Santa even knew about that.  Everyone was happy with what they got.  I actually got two of the gifts on my wish-list this year and that was awesome!  I just wish everyone was happy with each other.</p>
<p>Did I mention we got a new car?  We did.  It&#8217;s a silver <a title="Subaru Legacy - site link" href="http://www.subaru.com/vehicles/legacy/index.html" target="_blank">Subaru Legacy</a>.  My husband doesn&#8217;t care for it much, but I like it.  It fits me really well and I look damn good in it.  So that&#8217;s good, since I do most of the driving anyway.</p>
<p>One more major thing that happened this week &#8211; one of my best friends was proposed to yesterday!  When Kim first texted me, I actually cried at the thought her and her boyfriend getting engaged.  I remember her telling me all about him that first day they met.  I am so very happy for her.  <em>Kim, I love you, but if I&#8217;m not asked to be part of this wedding, I will hurt you.</em> Oh shit&#8230;another reason for me to get back into shape, but this means a trip to Vegas for me.  Yayee!!</p>
<p>Yeah.  It was a crazy week, but other than the big &#8220;Screw you, Momma&#8221; I got from my daughter, my week was pretty damn good.  How was your week?</p>

<p>So as a Christmas gift from the family, I got this book. Arnold&#8217;s Modern Bodybuilding. It is probably the best body building resource ever. I was flipping through pages and reading some of it. Most of it&#8217;s pretty much the same stuff that most body builders teach you. Most of it are the same exercises I&#8217;ve been doing at the gym.</p>
<p>I stopped going to the gym for a while. Basically to save money for holiday shopping. I&#8217;ll be going back to the gym real soon, maybe even next week. Don&#8217;t worry, the times that I stopped going to the gym, I didn&#8217;t quit working out for a while. I still work out three times a week. Doing home workouts with dumbbells and bodyweight exercises. This book is the ultimate body building resource, it has everything you need to know. It has a lot of stuff I didn&#8217;t even know about. I love studying and reading about body building. It became a new hobby of mine.</p>
<p>Like I said, I don&#8217;t want to be a giant, I&#8217;m not doing this to compete in no competition. I&#8217;m doing this to get fit for myself, to simply look and feel great as I said many times. I want the medium sized built, kind of like what Taylor Lautner has, something like that. I don&#8217;t think I&#8217;ll get any bigger than that. I&#8217;m not even up there yet and still have ways to go. I&#8217;m noticing small changes and small results but it may take me 5 years or more to get a really fit look. I do get people noticing that I&#8217;ve been working out so that&#8217;s a good start so far.</p>
<p>I was recommended to get this book by other body builders and fitness people online. So thanks for grabbing my attention to this book. I&#8217;ll be hooked to this thing.</p>
