…2PM winning their first K-Chart on KBS Music Bank! Last week, we told you about how 2PM was in second place on Music Bank, just a tad behind SS501’s “Love Like This”. This time, 2PM, or 1:59PM was able to overcome that “tad”, and win a K-Chart — only after 2 weeks AND amidst  the Hottests’ boycott! I was surprised, and yet not so surprised. I knew that Hottests boycotting would ultimately decide whether or not 2PM would win any award with “1:59PM” — it depended on whether or not Hottests would stand their ground and only support 2PM with Jaebeom. On the other hand, seeing how close 2PM was to winning a K-Chart, I thought that “1:59PM” might just be able to win with the Hottests who didn’t boycott. . . and they did win! 2PM’s “Heartbeat” won with 12,255 points, over Baek Ji Young’s “Don’t Forget” that had 8,356 points (2nd Place), leaving SS501’s “Love Like This” in third with 7,496 points.

So…. I had heard of Nneka and I was a fan of her tune Heartbeat and that she had won a Mobo but thats all i knew of her… since finding out i was going to be supporting her on the 27th November (tomorrow) I got a hold of her debut Album ‘No Longer at Ease’ and had a listen to it.

Her music is such a breath of fresh air. You can clearly feel all of her different influences. There is the heavy African Influence, and a stong sense of a connection to African culture and yet the music is still very British and Gritty with a Sca  sounding edge.

When I first put it on it was about 11 at night and i thought i shall listen to it in the bath .I had the volume on just high enough so I could hear it from the next room. The 85 year old partially deaf man next door Donny, Knocked in his slippers and asked us to turn down the music for the simple fact that the bass is so thick that it must have been booming in his bedroom poor guy.

In her Lyrics she talks about her reality’s that she has faced and the struggle and the aparthide in West Africa. There is a song on the album (Track Called ‘Halfcast’ were she talks about what it is like to not be accepted by your own people. Her music is reflective of a time and yet has timeless revolutionary aspect that if it wasnt for its modern instrumental you wouldn’t be surprised if it was created in the 1960’s, It is defiantly a classic Album and one that will never go out of fashion.

I would advise strongly that you pop out to HMV and grab a copy of ‘No Longer At Ease’. I Am looking forward to meeting and supporting Nneka tomorrow for the fact that shes a truly great artist and i have so much respect for her music!

2PM قاموا بالأداء في K-POP Night في الصين في الـ25 من نوفمبر, قام المعجبين بالتجمهر حولهم , كما كان هناك الكثير من المعجبين الذين انتظروهم في المطار, و العشرات من المعجبين قاموا بتتبع 2PM بسياراتهم و سيارات الأجرة. وكان في الحفل معجبين يحملون لوحات مكتوب عليها “2PM=7“

عندما كانوا 2PM في غرفة التحضير, سألوهم إذا كان عنوان البومهم الجديد 1:59PM يعني بقعة Jaebeom المفقودة, كما فسّرها العديد من المعجبين.
و قد علّق الأعضاء :

“يعني بأننا ننتظر Jaebeom هيونغ. لكن لأنه ليس هنا الآن, لا يمكن أن تكون الساعة الثانية (2PM).

ثم سألوهم إذا كان عنوان الألبوم يعني بأن 2PM ناقصين بسبب Jaebeom , و كان ردهم “نعم, هو كذلك.”

هذه الفكرة جاءت من منتجهم Park JinYoung المعروف بـJYP, وقد علقّوا:

” خلال مناقشاتنا مع منتجنا Park JinYoung, عرض فكرة 1:59PM. و فكرنا بأنه عنوان جيد بما أننا ننتظر Jaebeom هيونغ.”

من قبل ترويجهم لأغنية “Heartbeat” كأغنيتهم الرئيسية, تم تسميتهم بـ”Beastly Idols” أي “المشاهير المتوحشين”.

علّق Taecyeon على هذا:

و أكمل WooYoung :

ظهورنا و أرساغنا و كواحلنا…الخ, ليس هناك مكان لا يتأذى”.

بالرغم من أن 2PM كانوا ناجحين في كوريا حيث ربحوا جائزة أفضل الفنانين هذه السنة في حفل MAMA 2009 , لكن نجاحهم المستقبلي في الخارج مشكوك فيه.
علّق الأعضاء:

“بالرغم من اننا نحصل على الكثير من الحب في كوريا, نحن نشعر بالفضول كيف ستكون ردّة فعل الناس من الخارج. للأسف سنغادر شنغهاي في الـ26 من نوفمبر, و لكننا سنعود بصفتنا ضيوف في حفلة Wonder Girls في شنغهاي.”

و سألوا NichKhun عن أداءه في حفلMAMA مع Ivy والتي اضطرت أن تغلق صفحتها الشخصية بسبب إساءة بعض المعجبين لها.
فقال :

“أثناء الأداء مع Ivy نونا, لقد أحرجت قليلاً, لكن أنا آسف على Ivy نونا. الأداء هو مجرد أداء, أتمنى أن تنظروا إليه هكذا.”

There is so much irony in 2PM’s full album “1:59″, that was released a couple weeks ago.

First of all, on 2PM’s website, when they had the countdown clocks, each clock stopped at 1:59, thus releasing the teaser of that song. Funny how their album is titled “1:59″ too, but we were just too ignorant to notice.

Second, on 2PM’s website, when there was a heartbeat on the page, nobody really knew what it meant. Did it mean that the heart would stop beating when 2PM’s teasers/songs were released? It’s only now that we realize that the heartbeat was the title of their main track, “Heartbeat”. xD

And of course, the most obvious point- the title of the album, 1:59PM. It’s so ironic how fans called a 2PM without seven members 1:59PM, and thus, their album was titled “1:59PM”. For those of you who persist to call Park Jin Young someone who kicked Jaebeom out of 2PM, well think again — he brought up the name “1:59PM”. 2PM themselves have acknowledged that the name of their album was to make a statement- that without their leadja Jaebeom, 2PM would not be 2PM.

Let’s wait for Jaebeom. Jaebeom fighting! 2PM fighting!

My life was a strange and unforeseen array of NY parties, openings, late night bars, dates, dumpings, Manolo buying, Manolo hocking, binge eating, food restricting, and Mallomar hiding, job hunting, and  firings that went on far beyond its expiration date. One day I’m walking to a meet a lunch date a Grand Central Terminal and my heart starts to hurt.  I figure it’s either the new angst of my life or my heels are too high.  Maybe it’s the fact that elder lawyers and accountants are on my speed dial.  After a three week battery of tests, I ended up in Lenox Hill Hospital for an emergency cardiac procedure.   I was there alone and was told to put the contents of my life into a small plastic bag.  (There went the Manolos!)  Thank God I was wearing lipstick!  “Pink Sweetheart”. And where is a slinky strapless gown and thong when you need it?   It wasn’t bad being the “babe” in the cardiac ward.  There were lots of captive men and residents to talk to. I watched my heartbeat, on one of those monitors, but then my cell phone crashed.    Three days later I took a taxi home and pondered the tenuousness of life.  I saw buildings and flowers with new color.  But this sense of wonder and gratitude faded as I renewed my various “searches “just three weeks later.  My heart has never healed.

I woke up a little late, but it is Monday and here is my little wrap-up of last weekend.  I know MAMA is done and over with, and last night was the AMA’s, but here it is, just so no one thinks I missed out on anything (not that there was much to miss out on, anyway).  It will be quick and easy because I was unenthused for the most part.

I’ll start with Korea’s MAMA (Mnet Asian Music Awards)

First, I’m just going to get this outta the way – who witnessed THIS unfortunate incident??

I thought it was kinda funny that G-Dragon rocked so damn hard that he bust his seems, and in the most  inconvenient area.  I wonder if he noticed, or worse, felt it the second it happened… xP

I’m indifferent about the performances on Saturday night’s award show.  1.) I didn’t like the stage 2.) I detested the camera work and 3.) the performers lacked a bit of something…what is it…um, stage presence?  I like a lot of the songs that were performed at MAMA, but I was left a little underwhelmed by most of the acts.

And speaking of ‘acts‘, act 1, 2, and 3 of 2NE1’s 21st Street Musical was the most uncomfortable I’ve seen those ladies, ever.  The whole thing was scary.  See, the idea was great, but when I saw it for the first time on Saturday, I had no clue why they decided to stick with it.

If it was awkward for me to watch from my computer, who knows what the audience was thinking.

Act 1: KISS by Sandara – was all over the place.  The dancing was strange.  I noticed that Dara’s section of the stage said Club KISS, so I didn’t quite understand why the dancers were whirling around doing pirouettes.  Whirling in a club??  Don’t think so, and the cameraman hardly focused on Dara, and not to mention the terrible lighting at times… -_-

Act 2: You and I by Bom -  She looked adorable in her little house set, but on the contrary to Dara’s lack of focus from the cameraman, with Bom, all we had was her standing there while you’d get a glimpse of people scurrying around in the background.  She sounded good, though, but this is where I was thinking to myself ; “what does this have to do with act 1?“

Act 3: Please Don’t Go by CL and Minji – And this is where I realized that the entire concept of a musical was thrown out of the window. CL and Minji’s outfits are a little questionable, but this performance taken out of the whole musical was probably the best one.

As for the ending number, I thought it was dreadful.  I hope YG doesn’t put 2NE1 through something like this again, cuz it was not that great.

21st Street:

I still love 2NE1, though.

Brown Eyed Girls performed Sign, which wasn’t half bad, actually.  The beginning in particular was really nice.  They looked stun-ning!  They also performed a little number with KARA, dancing to a mix of Mister and Abracadabra, which was pretty hot, too.

Miryo took part in a little rap get-together with rappers from other female groups and, oddly enough, rapped to Lil’ Mama’s Lip Gloss.  To be honest, I don’t take any of these ladies as serious rappers.  Especially that girl with the black fur coat – she annoyed me with her sudden squeals.

G-Dragon and Taeyang performed their solo songs, along with a duet of Korean Dream.  Korean Dream was one of the better performances, I think.  G-Dragon’s DJ section was nice.

As for their solo songs, I saw no purpose for having all those men standing there on stage for Heartbreaker, doing absolutely nothing.  And I hurt a little when Taeyang did that flip and crotch landing on the floor.

2PM performed Heartbeat, which was actually really good.  They looked good and their hairstyle still makes me laugh.  JYP comes up somewhere in the middle and ‘pretends’ to conduct an orchestra.  But he redeems himself for poor orchestra knowledge with all the cool effects that later followed.  I think he took those flashy glasses from Miryo.  xD  Near the end, 2PM performs Again & Again.

Then there was this number.  Netizens aren’t too happy about this, mainly fangirls who are oozing with jealousy.  I, personally, thought this was a good performance.  Nichkhun was obviously part of the whole thing, but there are people out there that believe Ivy drew him up and made him uncomfortable by force.  No, no, no, uncomfortable is far from what he felt.  And the cleavage shouldn’t be an issue, I mean, if you’re listening to the song, Ivy is making it pretty clear that she wants to be touched.  A lot.

when a performance gets super heated like this, no one should take it seriously.  She was putting on a show, that’s what performers do, and she did a great job, no?

A pile of artists performed.  Janet Jackson opened the night with a decent melody of songs.  She was clearly lip-syncing, but that’s not a big shocker, since she always does that.  There were some boring performances in between.  One that I did enjoy was Shakira.  I thought she was amazing.  I thought it was funny when many women started dancing sexually in front of all the celebrities; you could tell they were awkwarded out.  I didn’t know the song Rihanna performed, so I didn’t like it.  Lady Gaga kept it pretty safe with the most outrageous part being a flaming piano.  And I think that’s where I stopped watching the award show because it was so goddamn boring.  I read that Jennifer Lopez fell on her butt, which was probably hilarious, since she’s struggling to break out on the music scene again…

Déjà deux mois depuis la première partie de cette magnifique rubrique ! Petits changements dans la playlist, de nouveaux amis sont arrivés, certaines valeurs sûres sont restées (d’autres sont partis :p) et la K-Pop se fait toujours aussi puissante ! Let’s go !

• Heartbreak – G-Dragon

Ouais, je sais. Je n’aime pas G-Dragon en tant que bishie. Mais il n’y a pas que l’apparence extérieure qui compte, non ? Je ne sais pas trop pourquoi, mais j’aime bien cette chanson alors que ce n’est pas VRAIMENT mon type de musique. En fait, c’est ce petit « anyo~ » que je ne comprends absolument pas à 0:31 qui me fait craquer ! ^.^ La chanson est plutôt triste en elle-même mais le rythme est sympa. Je crois que je suis encore trop jeune pour pouvoir écouter cet album~ Ah, les coréens. Le clip est plutôt sympa mais ça ne m’étonne pas qu’il se fasse censurer. PS : G-Dragon, change de nom (et de lunettes)…

• Hearbeat – 2PM

Il me semble avoir déjà évoqué mon amour (transformé en passion débordante aujourd’hui) pour cette jolie chanson de 2PM ! =) Pas la peine donc de mettre un gros pavé, je sais que je n’arriverais pas à te faire changer d’avis. Dommage, car franchement… Enfin si tu penses qu’ils n’ont pas de personnalité… C’est mieux que Beast quand même, non ? :( Dis-moi qu’ils sont meilleurs que Beast !

• Uninstall – Chiaki Ishikawa

Ahah, je ne sors que des choses que tu connais, cette rubrique n’a vraiment aucun intérêt ! XD Voici donc enfin un peu de japonais. J’adore le côté un peu mystique de cette chanson, avec les « OooOooh » du début. J’avoue l’avoir téléchargé dès le premier épisode. Tout comme l’anime, cet opening est unique, n’est-ce pas ? ^.^ Il y quelque chose que j’aime bien, je ne sais pas trop, je trouve que la chanteuse a une drôle voix mais que ça donne quelque chose de sympa. Uninstall…

• SHINee Girl – SHINee

Ah~ Du SHInee. Une valeur sûre, une vraie. Je n’ai pas parlé une seule fois du nouvel album de SHINee, c’est une honte ! Que suis-je, vraiment ?! Pourquoi SHINee Girl ? Et bien, je pense que j’ai écouté autant chacune des chansons de l’album et je ne savais pas laquelle mettre. J’allais pas mettre « Get Down » ou « The Name I Loved » ça aurait fait prise de position (lol), et « Ring Ding Dong » est trop populaire. Alors, c’est SHINee Girl ! =D Cette chanson bouge bien, et même si ce n’est pas la meilleure, ce n’est pas la pire ! Vive SHINee, et ce nouvel album que j’adore ! « Jojo » est enfin dans le top 25 de mon Ipod ! J’ai cité le nom de toutes les chansons de l’album, c’est cool ! You~

• Without Words – 9th Street

Je trouve que pour l’instant les chansons de « You’re Beautiful » sont réussis. Alors oui, je suis une victime de la société de consommation coréenne avec leur dramas à deux balles mais quand même… Elles sont bien ces chansons ! Without Word est une des « tristes ». Mais, elle n’est pas trop triste non plus. En fait, quand je suis heureuse, je trouve cette chanson heureuse et quand je suis triste… je la trouve triste ! ^^’ L’OST est plutôt bon, je te conseille aussi « Promise » et « As Ever » ! =)

Nope, it’s not inkigayo this time. Instead, there was  a  Love Sharing Concert on SBS that replaced Inkigayo, so I guess nobody wins any award this week.

Instead of the usual SBS Inkigayo, the NongShim Love Sharing Concert 2009 was broadcasted.The concert was held in collaboration with the Korean Red Cross. What’s an award show without some bad ass performances?

Last year’s MKMF not only celebrated music artists but they also went all out to celebrate their 10th year anniversary as a show.  So how much pressure was the newly developed MAMA awards under?

Two words. A LOT.

Hot Red Carpet Performances

Pre-show performances always get the fans bumpin’ and hypes up not only the crowd, but also the artidyd themsleves, and there wer some good quality performances this year.

Carpet performances featured MBLAQ, BEAST, Taegoon, ChungLim and Supreme Team. MBLAQ made a Rain Tribute by performing Rain’s smash hit, Bad Guy, that included a dance solo from no one other then, Sandara’s brother, Thunder. BEAST rocked the stage with Big Bang’s Lies and emulated them so much, it was darn near freaky. Taegoon recalled his Shinhwa battle stage by doing a really rockin’ routine of Shinhwa’s Perfect Man. AJ’s long lost brother, Chung Lim, also did a dance breakdown while singinghis single, Passion. And finally, Supreme Team was the definitely the underdog of them all since most people didn’t know they existed until now! The duo were the opening event of the red carpet treatment and The red hot carpet performances got everyone even more stoked that they were either there or tuning in.

Everyone knew that this year was the year of the girl bands and the songs they sang literally rocked throughout every where. From Brown Eyed Girls’ Abracadabra, to KARA’s Mister, all the way to Girl’s Generation’s “Gee,” there wasn’t a guy in sight NOT trying to the dance.

This year’s awards show showed not only some fierce rap divas but also musicals and hip sway action that had never been done. Check them all below!

Even with all the MAMA awards ceremony videos to watch, we can’t forget about 2PM’s performance on Music Core! Well, I know I can’t!

Their performance today was as astounding as any other. This time, Taecyeon ended the performance by doing the spin in the air, and then falling onto the ground..looked like it might’ve hurt a little since he fell back onto the ground. I hope he’s okay!
