De competitie voor ‘Mooist versierde kerstbuurt 2009′ leeft wel degelijk in de gemeenschap. Vooral Sint-Jansheide onderneemt actie om opnieuw een straat uit hun buurt te belonen met deze titel. Zo organiseert de plaatselijke lagere school ‘Mijn School op de Hei’ op vrijdag 18 december van 18 tot 21u een kerststallentocht doorheen Kuringen-Heide met vertrek en aankomst aan de kerk/school.

“De wandeltocht passeert langs de buurten die sfeervol versierd zijn voor de jaarlijkse wedstrijd georganiseerd door Pr8.  Tijdens deze wandeling komen we bijkomend een aantal kerststallen tegen in alle vormen en maten.  Deze stalletjes komen er in samenwerking met de parochie”, legt Katrien Peetermans uit. Om de 20 minuten vertrekt een groep van maximum 20 personen.

Aan de school worden versnaperingen en hartverwarmende dranken aangeboden tegen democratische prijzen. Ook daar zorgen een levende kerststal, samenzang en de voordracht van een kerstverhaal voor extra sfeer.

Een ideale gelegenheid om een sfeervolle kerstvakantie in te zetten.

もう一回！anime festival asia ‘09 was definitely a blast. although i felt the exhibits does not seems as great as last year’s, they have alot of other events to make up for it. the artistes for the ‘i love anisong’ concert featured king of anime songs, ichirou mizuki; macross frontier’s sheryl nome performer, may’n; blogger queen, shoko nagakawa; jam project member, yoshiki fukuyama; popular virtual idol, hatsune miku. there was also the introduction of the moe moe kyun maid cafe which drew the crowds to experience a unique dining experience.

there was also special appearance by k-on! seiyuu, renowned japan cosplayer kaname☆ who cosplayed as simon,  tengen toppa gurren-lagann on day 1 and cloud strife, final fantasy vii: advent children on day 2; as well as japan top blogger, danny choo. what more can an otaku ask for?

afa, saturday: 

this 2 days event really tires me out for only sleeping 3 hours a day each from rushing the costume out. having exams on the two weeks right before the event does not help at all. anyway, cosplayed as hei from darker than black on the first day which was quite a last minute decision due to the effect of the high’ness i received from watching 流星の双子, season 2 of darker than black. i strongly recommend you to watch it if you haven’t, the story and characters are simply awesome!

the second day was a killer, not enough sleep made me both hyper and mad. i rushed the whole night and in the morning again, and was still rushing when i met up with the guys; a very random d.gray-man group with random people haha~ why bother about a group theme when everyone can just have fun, we thought. we had breakfast at kfc in suntec, started preparing, had some screw ups with props, timing and registration. but we soon put those unhappy thoughts aside and enjoy the event to its best.

sunday is a not a day for event definitely, it was way too crowded combined with the wall of photographers forming endlessly as soon as a cosplayer strikes a pose. i was quite overwhelmed to be honest. for a certain point of time, i had to say sorry and walk away, i apologised to those who wanted a photo, i just needed a break for my eyes because they became unable to focus from all the camera flashes.

ended the event will may’n awesome concert. she sang the top tracks from macross frontier, namely northern cross, lion, iteza gogo kuji don’t be late; and  encore: diamond crevasse. seeing her live was like a dream come true~ and lastly, our humble group got to meet kaname☆as he left the event area. exchanged waves and goodbyes. a memorable event indeed <3

next event upcoming will be eoy held at the national library.. why library? it seems alot of people are having doubts with regards to the location, but the organisers gave their promise on making the event epic. we’ll see in less than a month’s time to go~ eoy also mark a year of cosplay for me, i hope it will be a meaningful one!

An elite Contractor with the Messier Code BK-201. Hei plays a gentle-hearted student from China named Lee Shenshun when undercover. He becomes an apathetic and guiltless killer when on his missions. Joining an organization of unknown ambitions known only as Syndicate, Hei is searching for the whereabouts of his sister Pai, whom he lost several years ago when the South American gate imploded. Hei’s contract allows him to generate electricity, and he is hotly pursued by the Japanese government for his involvement in multiple assassinations. He acts as the warrior/spy/assassin of his team.

Hei seems to have no renumeration for his Contract, is a skilled assassin capable of defeating contractors without even resorting to his powers, and was revealed, at the end of Season 1 to have taken his powers from his sister somehow.

Some people seem really interested in making the mask like i am!

Well if anybody’s curious im already halfway done with the mask base [which was made from a mixture of 50ml glue, cup of flour and cup of water and lots of newspaper], although i need some plasticine to form the mask

However if the papermache is layered enough, i might be able to just sand paper the mask as it is and paint it.

For the other items, im going to try carving a knife from a piece of light but sturdy wood. [or if all else fails, ill buy this online]

And the constume is going to be a pain in the arse, but if anyone is interested, ill try and upload blueprints on how to sew it together.

Zavallı kız önce saf saf karnındaki hissin yediği bozuk ramenden kaynaklandığını düşündü. Sonra bölüm boyunca iki büklüm durup “nedir bu his?” dediğini gördük. Gerçekten de ne acı, ne sancı, ne ağrı, ne sızıya benzeyen lanet bir histir o. Günün sonunda da kendisine ağrı kesici ve ped veren kişinin bir transeksüel olması da ironikti. Bu ironinin Nuh’un Gemisi muhabbetiyle vurgulanması da güzeldi. Yalnız kanatlı ped hakkında “Bu dünyada kanatların olmadan uçamazsın” yorumu yapılması ne alakadır?!

Kız için cidden üzülüyorum: tüm hayatı, ailesi dağıldı, contractor oldu, başında Hei gibi sadist bir ayyaş var, bunlar yetmezmiş gibi ilk kez regl olmak gibi başlı başına travmatik bir olayı yanında kendisine yol gösterecek kimse olmadan yaşamak zorunda kaldı. Durmadan contractorların duyguları yoktur deniliyor ama Souo’nun PMS kaynaklı bir duygu patlaması sırasından Hei yasaklamış olmasına rağmen güçlerini kullandığını da gördük. Bunun sonunda Hei elinin tersiyle bir tane çakıp kızı iki metre uçurdu yine. Hei’e de nolmuş ya? Adam elinde şişeyle yaşıyor artık. Alkolik olması sorun değil de eskiden ne kadar yumuşak başlı bir insandı. Şimdi her fırsatta kızı dövüyor, yaptığı resmen çocuk istismarı, başka bir şey değil. Allah kahretsin ki seviyoruz yine de, böyle başkarakter olmaz olsun. At kuyruğu güzel olmuş ama ona lafım yok.

Bundan başka animede regl muhabbetini bir tek Evangelion’dan hatırlıyorum: Asuka “Neden sırf kız olduğum için bunu çekmek zorundayım, çocuk yapmak bile istemiyorum ki?” diyordu. Hem kendimden hem arkadaşlarımdan çok iyi tanıdığım bir isyan cümlesidir.

Oddly, I’m awake way too early, and if I go back to sleep I might be late for work later. Either way, on the cosplay side of life, I’ve bought my fabric for Kanna’s duster/frock coat/whatever it’s called. That was around the time I realized his dress style is a mix of Civil War and Western cowboy attire. There was another small bump I ran into; his guns. Wiki says the guns he uses is Remington Model 1858 Army Standard. I did a little researching for gun replicas about that model. They costs way more than I want to pay plus they’re functional… Something I don’t really want either. Taking it down a notch by searching for cowboy toy guns. Turns out the long pistol variation are Colts that are similar to the Remington. The possible is high I might be carrying Colts, and I seriously doubt anyone going to notice unless they’re gun buffs.

For Hei I bought a mask and some Sculpey to work on the mask in my free time. I’ve had the materials for about 2 months now and haven’t did anything with it yet. Granted it’s my first time working with clay that isn’t Play-Doh I’m a little hesitant. The stock mask was just to see how a mask curves, or it was my idea to put the clay on top of mask. I don’t know what I was thinking when I came up with that idea. It’s just a habit I have of thinking about how I want things to work in my head that doesn’t translate well in real life. I’d like to be able to wear the mask while at a con, so the subject of having visibility is greatly desired. Still, in the anime his eyes are not seen with the mask on period. In the manga, his eyes are seen. Like I did with Sasuke I might have the best of both worlds when it comes to the mask.

Through general conversation Mist passed a video of Michelle Phan doing makeup for Sailor Moon. She has nice tutorials, the eyes looked way too weird looking. Maybe from a distance the eye effects look alright, but up-close is a no thank you. With that someone might start experimenting with makeup some time in the near future.

When I entered the Gyumri Aslamazyan Sisters Art Gallery and saw the paintings hanging on the walls, I could not believe that these works had been painted by the little girl standing in the huge hall, almost lost in the crowd of Gyumri beau monde who were wandering around to see the works.

The girl with one left hand that produced those pictures is Ophelia, who is also the only Gyumri-based beneficiary of FAR’s Gulamerian Scholarship. Ophelia was raised in the Gyumri Children’s’ Home, as her parents abandoned her right at a very young age. All of the emotions from her adolescence could be traced in the pictures: loneliness, and brief moments of joy gradually transforming into hope and a feminine spirit.

Harold Gulamerian himself was in the art business, and I can’t help but thing that ties between strangers are not always coincident. Ophelia benefitted greatly from the Gulamerian scholarship. When she was of age to attend University, Ophelia’s caretakers were not able to afford the tuition payments of the European Educational Academy Gyumri. Ophelia was fortunate to be selected for the Gulamerian scholarship.  As they say, a talented person is talented in many areas: despite her trouble childhood, Ophelia has grown to be a strong woman who is a not only a successful student of the International Relations Department of the Academy, but also a talented artist and a sociable young lady. The Gulamerians and Fund for Armenian Relief are so proud to have provided someone like Ophelia with the opportunity to discover her talents.

The atmosphere at the exhibition was very jovial, and FAR is thankful to all people who assist such gifted children with special needs.   At the exhibition, FAR presented Ophelia with a book containing prints of works by Leonardo da Vinci, and the FAR teamed wished her success in her future artistic endeavors. According to a Gyumri-born writer and philosopher Gurdjieff: “A tree springs from the ground, but it is not created by the earth. A grain is necessary.”

Just a few thoughts on the beginning of another project… the distributors in the intermediate CJ5’s are the old point/gap/rotor Prestolite ignition system. Notoriously maintenance heavy and not always consistent, even when tuned correctly. So, I’m on the hunt for a replacement option. A couple of possibilities:

• Pertronix Ignitor – Drop-in replacement electronic ignition system that rides “stealth” underneath the existing cap. Price point is about $110-130 depending upon the kind of coil you pair with the system.
• ‘78-79 Upgrade/Swap – An distributors (reman) from a ‘78-79 drops right into my existing system. Then, once I get it installed, I can put a higher cap on the distributors, upgrade wires, new rotor, and solve a lot of problems associated with other ignition systems (ground fires, etc). This is one is a bit more expensive… from what I can gather, I’d be looking at about $200-250 to complete this from start to finish.
• HEI Upgrade – Several drop-in options for HEI (High Energy Ignition) systems. Simple, one-piece units that are “user-friendly”… however, as aftermarket “user-friendly” parts go (in any field) they have their snags. Notably, they are known for chewing up their gears… not good. These run from about $150-350 depending upon options and quality.

So, I have a few choices to sift through. I’m still learning a lot of the language and function of each of these. What I do know is that getting one of these in the ‘mato will amount to smoother running, improved MPG (not a miracle cure), and better starts. As always, thoughtful comments are appreciated.

I’ve previously (quite discretely)hinted  that I was going to do a Darker than BLACK database. In a nutshell, it will be the place to get all DTB information. When HSC is over, I’ll slowly compile character information, episode summaries and any related material.

Who has seen the premiere of DTB2? I’m surprised how quickly it was subbed. Two years ago,when DTB started,  I would wait weeks for a sub, ending up watching the RAW weeks before the subbed version.

Great start to a second season. New characters, new powers, and new payments. Tanya, able to command locusts at will, payment, ripping some of her hair off. . Goran, super-speed, payment, eating hamburgers, now who wouldn’t like that one! And Shion, power, unknown(but my guess, a spirit transformation, would explain his disappearance and his ‘telepathic’ communication with Suou), and payment,  living confined to a wheelchair).  So many more contractors and dolls to meet.

So bad-ass, I like it, though to people, portrays Hei as a baddy.

And it looks like we’ve got our November 11 replacement for this series, August 7th. More commonly known as the Magician, contract details currently unknown. Speculating time…his payment has definitely got to be, doing magic tricks. Power wise, AVADA KEDAVRA(jokes). According to the character profiles on the DTB2 site, magic is his weapon. What will he conjure for us =o

And, it is a 5day wait to the next episode T_T

Just more info. Mina Hazuki, the woman wearing the mouth guard/mask in the episode preview is a contractor. She is able to transform any object into a white katana. And her payment, from what I can translate from, is having a slutty sexy mood swing. Sounds wrong lol
