Velocite Magnus

The new frames from Velocite have arrived. The Magnus is an aggressive sprinter/climber road bike, while the Flux is an aggro hardtail MTB. The Helios has also arrived. It’s geometry is more conventional. I was going for the Helios, but Victor’s description of the Magnus make me question my initial thoughts. I might just get the Millennium (titanium) as my training bike and the Magnus as my carbon fiber bike.

The EVOLVE website was updated today, revealing the names of three wrestlers joining the official singles division of EVOLVE.

- Bobby Fish: From the NECW promotion, Fish has competed on a couple of Ring of Honor tv shows this year and toured Pro Wrestling NOAH in Japan in September 2009.

- TJ Perkins: The young Perkins has wrestled for Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, Ring of Honor and Total Nonstop Action. He’s best known as the masked Puma, and he appeared on an episode of ECW last month taking on Sheamus.

- Ricochet: Ricochet is best known as the masked Helios from the CHIKARA promotion where he is affiliated with The Future is Now.

These three wrestlers join the already announced Davey Richards.

Du skal aldri ha gørr i håret. Det gjør det slitt og u-fint i lengden. Søk alltid naturlige skjønnhet, det er den sanne. Blir man avhenging av f. eks hårgele, kan man bruke sevje som erstatning. Det beste er selvsagt å ikke bruke noe.

Blir håret ekstremt fett kan man benytte seg av shampo. Dette må ikke brukes mer enn 1 til 2 ganger i uken.

Tåver man håret må man bruke såpe, noe som kan skade det. Det er viktig å bruke naturlig såpe, som man har kjøpt på helios eller andre økologiske butikker. Det beste er å lage den selv.

Å skalle seg en gang i blandt kan være sundt for håret. Man fjerner alt det gamle, og får en ny og frisk start. Noen kan lide av nedsatt selvfølelse, men det er bare midlertidig, og har ingenting med utseende og gjøre. Man skal ikke bruke afthershawe etter skalpering, ren sprit fungerer best. Bruk ikke barbermaskin, høvel er mest naturlig.

1. Pre-school! Ahhhh. . . The glorious silence on these days is such a soothing relief to my poor ears.
2. Sleeping babies, specifically mine. My youngest is sick from the two flu shots he received, so he is currently sound asleep.
3. Warm pets to snuggle me while I take advantage of this moment and post.

Today the EPP Downloads for Helios (Eclipse 3.6) Milestone 3 are ready to download.

thanks to the EPP team – this makes it much easier to try out the next Eclipse Helios.

Since Galileo there are also downloads for MacOSX Cocoa – 64 bit, but there’s no direct download for Windows – 64 bit.

I’m running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit (under Parallels Desktop 5 on OSX 10.6 Snow Leopard) and I know that there are many other developers also trying to run 64-bit on Windows 7.

At first be sure that you have the JDK 6 in 64 – bit – if not you can download it from

Then it’s easy to use EPP Packages on Windows-7 64 bit:

1. Download SDK Windows 64 bit (eclipse-SDK-3.6M3-win32-x86_64.zip) from here

2. Install and start as usual

3. Add New Software Site for EPP

http://download.eclipse.org/technology/epp/packages/helios

4. Install New Software and select your EPP Package (per ex. RCP)

5. Next -> Finish -> Restart and you’re done

It’s not that Doug and I ditched the TV out the window in some grand gesture to make a statement about our distant vision, but rather we never bothered to buy one. To be fair, okay, we did buy one once.  It was already broken, and intended for a ‘TV Tree’ art project that never materialized. It ended up as our coffee table, draped in a black cloth to hide it’s latent energy.   Then, during our zillion moves, it disappeared.  I grew up without cable, and I lived next to a huge hill that made most channels come in fuzzy.  I remember longing for Full House, and not knowing who Dawson was except that he lived by a creek, and spoke well. Doug on the other hand, had TV.  He was normal.

Are we addicted to LOST, Arrested Development, Heroes, The Office, 30 Rock, DWTS and Desperate Housewives with the best of them?  Yep.  So why don’t we have a shiny flatscreen?  The answer is pretty boring.  I don’t know. We actually like walking to the library to rent DVDs, and we don’t mind waiting for the next netflix envelope?  Yes.  Maybe you do, too? It’s just our way of life.  We like the energy in a room without a big bright screen as the focus.  And we like the smell of books.

Novels, photo books, photography magazines, music magazines, whatever we can get our hands on.  We surf the awesome and never ending diarrhea of information that is the internet… we make fine art photographs, we make commissioned photographs, we make toy camera photographs, play instruments, sing, blog, we read other people’s blogs, we run, we work, watch dvds on our computer, cook, make music, attempt to oil paint, read seriously incredible bride profiles (I AM SO EXCITED TO POST THESE!!!) and we don’t miss the box that won’t be named!  Honestly!

Katherine’s current reading: I have a weakness for fat french novels, (Milan Kundera) looong fantasies (Phillip Pullman), and anything even slightly involving witches, armored bears, musicology,humor, philosophy, imagination, and curiosity.

What is silver gelatin? When I think of silver gelatin, the first image that pops into my brain resembles a gooey tower of shiny jewel-like jell-o. Silver what?  Before I met Doug, my printing experience consisted of high school photography 101.  In fact, until a couple minutes ago, the silver gelatin process was STILL mostly a mystery to me.  I knew it had to do with SILVER (cool!) and I have seen the result (BEAUTIFUL!) and so REAL looking.  These two dimensional photographs have the 3D feeling that you can reach into the image and touch, walk around, etc. Doug calls it the ‘depth of field.’ So, I did some poking around the internet, and learned quite a bit.  In the world of analog photography, the silver gelatin process is a kick-butt photographic printing method that’s been around since the late 1800s! The materials include black and white film, printing paper, and a support material with the light sensitive coating of silver salts in gelatin. Expose it to light, and a couple lucky atoms in the crystalline grains of silver salt turn into SILVER.

Once it’s developed, is it done? The developed silver gelatin image remains extremely delicate to the elements, so we tone it to stabilize it, and this makes it archival to withstand the test of time. Toning adds a slight color to the silver gelatin print. Selenium toning is the most popular (and most affordable) of toning methods. It works by turning the silver into silver selenide, which is much more resistant to the elements. Other toning methods include even longer lasting sepia, and our favorite, gold toning.

Who’s our printer? Doug is a printer of museum gallery distinction, but decided long ago to step out of the darkroom, and focus on shooting instead of printing. In this way, he’s taken the route of many fine art photographers, finding a tremendous printer, and building a bond.  Doug met Paul, our master printer, at Panopticon Imaging, and began building a solid artistic relationship when we lived in Boston.  Paul has many accolades to his name, including printing pulitzer prize winning images.  His handcrafted darkroom prints grace the walls of museum galleries and private collections.

Our biggest challenge: Spreading the word about the silver gelatin process was a hurdle in the beginning.  many people just plain haven’t heard of it before unless they are a fellow photographer, have a curiosity about photography, or a degree in art, etc. We always approach a project as if it’s the first time, because I remember the first time I saw a silver gelatin print.  It was by Ansel Adams, and totally cliche nowadays, but totally mind exploding at the time!  So, we started to bring in a selenium toned silver gelatin print to every client and vendor meeting to start the conversation.  Our clients usually come to us because they want something different.  Something especially artful.  The silver gelatin process affords them just that.

Why it’s the bee’s knees: The process remains pretty rare in the wedding industry.  We searched for other photographers who offer it in California, and could count on one hand the small handful of like minded artists with a soft spot for weddings!!!!  So it may be rare in the wedding world, but, it BLOOMS as a staple in the fine art and documentary worlds!  There’s a richness to the print that’s incomparable, and it gets down to the roots of photography – this is how modern photography was first presented to the world.  Just incredible.
