Last night Cross Town hosted the RockNFashion Show!  Show producers Clay Perkins and Joshua Ferdinand Photography have joined forces with EventKC.com and Christian Micheal Designs, the show consisted of local designers, models, bands and hair/makeup artists into one fabulous event! Models will walk the runway donning the latest apparel from Kansas City designers,  as local bands Action Figure , Heroes + Villains and Pet Comfort provide the musical backdrop.  Betsy Johnson leads a cast of local designers, and boutiques, which includes Abigail Carolina , Robert Anthony , Oblivion Clothing , Wop on Top , and Envolve Boutique . Also featuring jewelry design by Evil Pawn Jewelry .

On October 12th we had, for the drawing pleasure of all, the extraordinarily versatile Paco Fish of Gilded Lily Burlesque, host of Vive la Decadance!, organizer of Independent Practice at Load of Fun on Wednesdays, and, well, a bazillion trillion other things.  (Not only that, but his Facebook page is a pretty damn good way to find out what’s going on around town any given week if your tastes tend to veer toward vaudeville and burlesque.)

Now, prepare yourself for some sizzling shots of Paco:

We know there are those out there that are like, what, no boobies? But really, we true artists also appreciate the male form. Paco could easily have been in some painting of a religious or mythical scene by one of the old masters. (Well, if they had sequined heart pasties and gold lamé hot pants back in those days.)

The first contest of the night was the opposite hand drawing contest, where if you’re left handed you draw with your right, if you’re right handed you draw with your left, and if you’re ambidextrous you give Aaron five dollars.  We don’t have any scans from that contest, but the two winners downed a mystery shot from the bar.

BTW, all of Gilded Lily Burlesque, Paco included, will be performing this coming Saturday, Halloween night at Load of Fun from 10 to midnight.  It’s going to be an amazing show, we’re going.  Get your tickets here before they sell out.

After the show, check out the Heroes and Villians Costume Ball being thrown a block away by the Windup Space (our wonderful  home) and Atomic Books (one of our generous providers of awesome prizes). Seriously, Station North is the place to be for Halloween this year, instead of being crammed in some random Fells Point bar, getting your eye nearly poked out by some girl with fairy wings from Hot Topic, and having to plan your pee trips way before the urge even arrives because it’ll take you forever to shove past half a dozen Michael Jacksons and whatever else the hot costume of the season is, to get on that long-ass bathroom line.

Wait, where were we? Oh, drooling over Paco’s very Baroque sexiness…

Next was the random noun contest, in which we ask the audience to call out the first person, place, or thing that comes to mind, the most interesting of which we ask them to then incorporate into their drawings. Thus, for this session, “Best incorporation of an iPhone app,” the prize for which was Kings of the Road by Ragnar from Baby Tattoo Books.

The third contest, since it happened to coincidentally be Aleister Crowley’s birthday, was the best interpretation of Aleister Crowley, which unfortunately diverged into a ten minute lesson on who Aleister Crowley was.

Sad, sad, sad.  (Maybe we’ve read too much Neil Gaiman, Alan Moore, etc. though.)

The prize was the Color Ink Book Volume 3 by Brothers Washburn from Atomic Books, who by the way has revamped their website, which looks pretty slick.

“I’ve been a bad yogi this week,” i mused sadly to Joe. Even talking about yoga to Lia in lieu of actually doing it got my muscles to tingle and miss it.

“Yeah, but sometimes forging new friendships takes the same kind of commitment.” he said to me.

i am consoled to think that at least i’ve been a good friend. or have been having a good time. i can also tell it’s been a full, week of good people, food and silliness when the fridge is full of tasty leftovers, there’s a bouquet of lilies on my living room table, there are a lot of dishes to do, there’s silver spray paint and glass beads in strange places, the laundry turns up stickers, candy wrappers and tiny plastic babies, i am pleasantly tired and i am editing photos of it all.

Sufjan Steven’s “The Henney Buggy Band” lyrics and melody occur to me in snippets.

“Oh life, with your colorful surprises
Eleanor, how you put one on disguises“

“Far in the morning light
We let the movies play
A weekend from the holiday

This past Saturday a group of friends all dressed up as Villains attended the Alter Egos Power Struggle. It was pretty much a Heroes & Villains pub crawl all brought to you by:
Alter Egos Society and Drunken Rampage. And Benja said it best with:

“the event included games and prizes along a route through several downtown Portland bars. The games included initiation games (such as “save the kittens” for heroes and “steal candy from the babies” for villains), “You’ve Met Your Match” finding an Arch Nemesis speed dating style), and a dance-off between good and evil. A number of local businesses (bars and comic shops, etc.) and organizations (Stumptown Comics Foundation, etc.) supported the event as part of official Portland Comics Month.”

But for me to tell you about the evening from the streetside and onlooker POV – well, is to tell the story of running through the city, engaging in an en masse, public, costumed rubber band fight, taking over bars of every variety including strip and gay (Portland famous), community pole-dancing, swinging from the ceiling (on a literal swing suspended by chains) climbing elephant statues in the park, catching free prizes in the air like porn, latex whips, silver-studded leather chastity belts, oh – and comic books too. Sure. To give you ALL the details would read a bit Gonzo-esque so . . . “No. We can’t stop here. This is bat country.”

But there are some photos where my friends are harpies, mad scientists, robots, caped, cylcloptic evil overlords with interchangeable blue & red laser monocles with minions to match, judges dressed in cinched robes & a wrestling unitard, and futuristic underwater murderers of dolphins (it’s quite a backstory). A bit of “so long and thanks for tall the fish.” Dolphins are super smart and take over the world. See: Douglas Adams.

Here’s the rest of my photos anyway . . .

The next morning, Easter Sunday we threw a Pagan Potluck to celebrate Eostre, the goddess of spring fecundity, love and carnal pleasure. How appropriate. There was so much wonderful food! A big spiral-sliced ham i cooked with an orange-maple glaze and served with a side of “last nite’s costumed bar crawl hangover,” with a friendly diner smile. Quiche, potato salad, fruit salad of blood oranges and tangerines, quinoa, spinach salad with goat cheese, potato salad, deviled eggs, chocolate angel food cake, cherry cobbler, coconut balls and more mimosas and white wine than humanly necessary were consumed. Eventually it devolved into a game of Scattergories and Celebrity. Somehow, my dumb ass did NOT take pictures. i was off duty that nite, i suppose.

Last nite we gathered for a loose dinner party at Jeremy’s apartment themed “food on a stick.” The colorful spread ended up consisting of cheese & chocolate fondue with dippers of olive bread, meat, angel food cake, strawberries, apples, pears, sushi and skewered teriyaki chicken and beef, wine (hey, stemmed glasses are on sticks!) the comedic Pabst Blue Ribbon that Cooper brought up from the depths of the ice cooler, carried in on a large branch and hoisted into the room like catch of the day, and Benja’s contribution of candy with Chick-O-Stix. Surprisingly, no popsicles, perhaps a rather obvious choice. This in no way detracted from the rainbow of bountiful foodie goodness we enjoyed. (Once again, no photographic evidence!) Later, we all lay on collective couches in a food coma watching Val Kilmer in Real Genius. A good old fashioned 80’s “nerd saves the world” movie.

Tonite while drinking cold beer on our warm sunny patio talking to Lia & Cooper who were getting ready to depart for their stay at home happy couple date nite of dinner and cuddling, i was cheered as i received, fielded and answered text messages:

Tiffany: “If i get enough work done today i was thinking of going to the tulip festival tomorrow – interested? It’s going to be a beautiful day.”

Chelsea: “Thought i’d take advantage of the sun with a book and my dog. Ran into friends on the Beach. Dungeoness crab for dinner. Call ya when i’m headed back.”

Claire: “We went to the farmers market and now we are relaxing at a park in the SE. If you were at Stumptown i’d join you. Nap in park instead! We are going out for Pho if you are interested.”

And later from Lia: “We love you guys. Seriously. Like love love. U fixed my music collection! i owe you my life.”

Jeremy asked: “What time tomorrow?” in reference to the brunch we’re having on the deck at my house since the weather promises sunny and 74 degrees. i instructed, “Let’s call it a casual noon. Brunch in single digit #’s is called breakfast & is lame.” Claire is coming over to cook some spicy eggs, i’m gonna to fry up some bacon and make a stack of fluffy pancakes. hmm, i have no champagne for mimosas . . .

i smiled to myself a lot for a lot of little reasons today. Odin was hiding in the freshly washed bed sheets in an effort to stalk me. i realized that if i want to fall madly into bed with Joe tonite, the bed must be made, cat or no. There was a time when we got so distracted and caught up in each other, too busy making love that we could rarely be bothered to comb our hair or pack properly for a trip to the woods. The apple butter in the fridge reminded me of the camping trip where, because we were too busy “packing” we had forgotten a knife to cut and spread food, so we simply tore off hunks of bread and dipped it in pumpkin butter (no more apple butter to be had at the roadside stands that late in the afternoon.) How that nite, Joe and i flipped the script on the traditional camping roles: i built a fire and secured the goods from bears and he, my would-be-husband cooked a fabulous dinner of beans and onions and summer sausage. I thought of our long looks in the fire light, and the sound of a large skunk trundling through the brush into our campsite  making my eyes go from lovestruck at half-mast to wide and panicked. “Animal. Biggish.” i whispered in a fearful assessment. And he laughed.

i washed the tablecloths from the Easter Pagan Potluck we threw last week and tossed in a few old throws. One of them, a bright blue with red stripes i didn’t recognize until turned the tag to read it:

British Airways.
MADE IN ENGLAND.
Airline use only. Please do not remove from aircraft.

And i smiled, thinking of Joe taking me to Rome after we got engaged.

“Hey, did i ask you to steal this blanket from the plane ride?” i prodded.
“Well, one of us stole it. It’s unclear who, “Joe smiled.

it’s in my lap right now as i type this in the office.

i am about to take some fruit down to thaw for brunch: a bag full of frozen mango & berries – something called “Mangolicious” from Trader Joe’s that i put with some Vanana (vanilla & banana flavoured yogurt) and some local Hanna’s honey in a cup. i am thinking fondly of myself & two dear friends in our pajamas eating apple pie for breakfast. In bed. Laughing. i am thinking of not waking up earlier than 11 am tomorrow. i am thinking the red & yellow tulips in bloom in my garden should suffice if i don’t make it out to the Wooden Shoe Tulip festival.

Oh, life with your colorful surprises.

Pues la era de los villnos termina con este capitulo llamado “3×13 Dual” pues es final de temporada y no es de lo mejor pero otra vez como fue desde principios de esta tercera temporada que nos impresionen en los ultimos 15 min del capitulo y vuelve a ser asi … Espero y para la cuarta temporada “Fugitivos” mejore en ese aspecto.

“Heroes Villains Final de Temporada 3×13 Dual”

Y pues lo que queda es esperar el inicio de la cuarta temporada “Fugitivos” que claro se subira aqui al ElevaDDor! yeah!!!!.

No queda mas por decir desde México para todos los Heroes les deseamos FELIZ NAVIDAD Y PROSPERO AÑO NUEVO hasta el 2009 .

Heroes Volume One won near univeral acclaim. Now, as we reach the end of Volume Three, the bandwagon has led most reviewers to be hypercritical of Heroes. This is unfortunate, as they are missing a much deeper storyline than Volume One had to offer.

Volume One wasn’t incredibly deep. It had plot twists and surprise, but any amount of analysis wasn’t required. The plot was always on the surface, and any depth was produced via character interaction. As Volume Two proved, moving character interactions to the surface to function as the primary plot (and shifting the storyline to the backburner) doesn’t work for a show like Heroes. Volume Three went back to the winning plot/interaction mix of Volume One, yet reviewers still love to hate it.

Maybe they’re not ready to forgive Heroes after Volume Two (which remains at the relatively high price point of $30 for half a season). Maybe it’s more fun to rip on a popular show than to understand it. Either way, the character developments of Volume Three are not as confusing as the majority of blogs have led us to believe.

Sylar’s Transformation

Heroes Volume 3 - Sylar

Volume Two’s Sylar had an unusually inane story: I’ve got to go on road trip back to New York, since I’ve got so many enemies there. Volume Three’s Sylar appears to waffle back and forth between good guy and bad guy. On the surface, his story this time around is parental issues. But that’s not what this Volume’s about for Sylar. The flashback episode shows us a Sylar at a dangerous crossroads, with HRG and Elle pushing him over the edge to the dark side. Although Sylar places the blame on HRG (and eventually Elle), Ms. Patrelli reveals that she was the one who pushed the Company into making Sylar a killer.

Why was Sylar so obsessed with bonding with a specific Patrelli parent throughout this Volume? His self-definition sits in his creation, and up until this Volume, he has defined his origin tale as the one HRG and Elle put him through. When he found a parental figure in Ms. Patrelli, Sylar redefined his origin tale. As far as he knew, she saw his potential for good, and so he attempted to reach that potential. The reveal at the end of this Volume redefined that, making his quest to understand his potential as that of a hero all the more poignant.

Why kill Elle? For the same reason why he focused so much attention toward the Bennet family this Volume: Sylar’s (villain) origin tale was centered around Elle and Noah. When he lost vision of his parental origin, he had to accept that Elle made him the way he was. Losing Elle proved devastating, but his identity was too wrapped up in the past to make changes to himself in the present. His story seems to follow the Joss Whedon formula: once you kill, it changes you forever.

Nathan’s Coming of Age

Heroes Volume 3 - Arthur and Linderman

Nathan’s transformation was much deeper than Sylar’s, and it seems surprising that NBC would attempt to tell this flavor of story on television. Critics seem confused at his progression from religious zealot to good guy to confused son to bad guy. Since Nathan seems to be the driving evil force in Volume Four, it seems fitting that Volume Three defines his transition from good to evil. Why is Nathan’s story difficult to understand? Volume One displayed Nathan as an egocentric (often dark) character, pushed toward the good side by his brother Peter. Although he hung out with the right crowd, Nathan was never a great hero. He saw himself as “better than”, and easily found himself sympathetic with the power-hungry. Volume Three reveals his close ties with his father, and draws his origin story as a direct product of his father. Nathan was only pulled toward heroism by his brother because his father was out of the picture, and those ties to Peter were due to family loyalties caused by Arthur’s influence.

Early in this Volume, Nathan claimed to be a messenger of God. His beliefs were directly caused by his father (through Mr. Parkman’s mental manipulations) to nurture Nathan’s ego and power-hungry nature. What kept Nathan back was the face of Linderman – he knew Linderman was an evil person (in his eyes, Linderman was opposed to his father). Yet seeing Linderman was crucial to solidifying his loyalties to Arthur’s side, as it brought back his hatred toward his father’s enemies.

Once Nathan realized his father was alive, he quickly sided with his father. This was not a surprising move on his part; Arthur had been manipulating his son to remember whose side he was on. Once Peter and the other “good guys” killed his father and ruined his father’s plans, Nathan had to continue those plans without him.

What makes Nathan a bad guy? His father taught him to blindly follow his beliefs, and his beliefs were placed there by his power-hungry father. Over the course of this Volume, Nathan has become the new Arthur Petrelli with one crucial difference – he believes that he is doing the right thing.

Pues una disculpa por no subirlo rapido pero el Dashbord de WordPress cambio y pues no lo carga rapido en Internet Explorer 7 pero bueno ya falta 1 capitulo para que termine esta tercera temporada y a esperar hasta Febrero para la Cuarta Temporada. Y claro regresamos a postear los capitulos a 100 MB pues este no tiene nada bueno pero el 3×13 si sera en 190 MB osease en buena calidad .

Heroes Tercera Temporada Villains 3X12 “Our Father”

Bueno el eclipse por fin ya esta termianndo porfin veremos a nuestros Heroes y a nuestros Villanos de vuelta con sus poderes y algunos problemas que pensaban que no iban a tener.

Muy emocionante el capitulo otra vez la parte interesante vuelve a ser los ultimos 15 minutos pero hay otra como a mitad del capitulo que esta chida esa parte:

Por las elecciones en Estados Unidos esta vez nos quedamos sin Heroes por una SEMANA porfin ya tenemos el 3×08 en El Cuchitril.

Bueno gracias por los que se preocuparon de que no tuvimos HEROES por una semana bueno otra vez le damos gracias a ZONA HEROES por el avance SPOILER

Parece ser que tras el 3×07 tendremos un parón de una semana a causa de las elecciones y hasta el 10 de noviembre no podremos disfrutar del 3×08 que promete responder muchas dudas a modo pre-cuela de la serie. Atentos porque los capítulos dónde viajamos al pasado son importantes para el futuro de la serie.

La verdad este capitulo no tuvo nada bueno y parece que ahora si ya no vamos a ver a Maya en la serie bueno les digo lo que pasa en este capitulo.

GRACIAS POR DESCARGAR HEROES EN ESTE BLOG =D

Heroes: Villains es el nombre que lleva este tercer “volumen” y que supone el regreso de la telenovela catódica superheroica más seguida en todo el mundo. ¿Existe algún otro show que reúna estas características? Tras su abrupto final en la anterior campaña -víctima de la huelga de los malignos guionistas- Heroes volverá a las pantallas el próximo día 22 para resolver algunas incógnitas y sin duda, aumentar su trama con muchas otras. Para celebrarlo tenemos entre nosotros un gigantesco set de imágenes dedicada a cada uno de sus muchos protagonistas.

Ja he perdut el compte de les promos penjades i vistes, però aquesta del nou volum d’”Herois”, és més fosca i deixa anar un munt d’spoilers.

Les promos són espectaculars, esperem que la temporada estigui a l’alçada.
