<p>This is probably the best issue of Madame Xanadu in months.  Of course, this is thanks in no small part to the jaw-dropper ending.  I was absolutely stunned, as it was played and set up perfectly by Wagner.  It’s the return of an element we haven’t see in a very, very long time in the series and as such, it comes out of left field.  Even better is the fact that Wager is a master when it comes to his use of red herrings.  He’s so good at it that this month’s ending simply comes out of nowhere; it’s one of those rare cases where it’s jarring in a good way.  I absolutely cannot wait for next month’s issue.</p>
<p>Beyond that, this month essentially does everything that Madame Xanadu does well.  It’s full of that sense of dark whimsy that has made the series such a success.  As was the case last month, while Betty’s torments are clearly horrifying and while she certainly is a sympathetic figure, it’s all rendered with a kind of black humor.  That said, this month, when her curse reaches its apex, Wagner does a great job at portraying her desperation and emotion.  While the humor is still there, this month is heavier on the horror, as Betty begins to lose not just her appearance, but her personality.  Last month, we saw her physically becoming someone else and this month, we see the mental transition, which is unsettling.  That said, Wagner still manages this with a comic touch.</p>
<p>And that’s it really.  Wagner is able to portray what would be some gritty, dark stuff in an accessibly light-hearted fashion.  This month’s introduction of a mysterious satanic cult, for example, is hard not to read without a smile on your face, despite none of them actually cracking jokes or making pratfalls.  It’s purely a matter of tone and atmosphere, and a mark of Wagner’s ability.</p>
<p>Of course, this atmosphere is also thanks in no small part to Hadley.  The satanic cult is funny because Hadley makes them funny.  There’s also a very humorous scene involving Betty’s husband and his lecherous “Tuesday night” efforts that really is quite a laugh, largely thanks to Hadley’s excellent illustrations of Betty and her husband’s respective facial expressions.  All told, it’s just a beautiful book and I’m also happy to report that colorist Guy Major is back to his usual quality fare, as opposed to the insanely bright work we got last month.</p>
<p>This comic really was a pitch-perfect and an enjoyable experience throughout. It has everything that got Xanadu to the Eisners. Wagner scores high with what is by far the most enjoyable issue of Madame Xanadu in a very long time. The ending will have those who’ve been on-board from the start gasping.</p>

<p><a href="http://szmusil.wordpress.com/files/2009/12/bow_yellow.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-558" title="bow_yellow" src="http://szmusil.wordpress.com/files/2009/12/bow_yellow.jpg?w=150" alt="" width="150" height="100" /></a>These are my interpretation of the beaded bows from the December issue of Bead &#38; Button magazine.  I think they turned out rather well.  They&#8217;re made in sections, two upper bows, two lower dangles (or whatever you call the <em>legs</em> of a bow) and a piece to wrap around the middle, which hides all the attach-together stitching.  The instructions call for delicas, 11° and 10° hex beads and some teensy tiny 15°s to decorate the edges.  Umm, yeah.  Size 10 hex beads are really difficult to find, and when you do find them, their quality is not so good.  Still, I followed instructions for the first one. (<em>Those who know me can stop laughing now.  I <span style="color:#800080;"><strong>do </strong></span>follow instructions &#8211; <span style="color:#800080;"><strong>sometimes!</strong></span>)</em></p>
<p><a href="http://szmusil.wordpress.com/files/2009/12/bow_red.jpg"><img class="alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-557" title="bow_red" src="http://szmusil.wordpress.com/files/2009/12/bow_red.jpg?w=150" alt="" width="150" height="113" /></a>However, for the second one, I had the gist of the design, and went out on my own.  I skipped the delicas all togehter, and used regular seed beads.  Much easier to work with &#8211; probably helped that the red wasn&#8217;t silver lined.  Easier to see.  The only 10° hex in this piece is the silver.  I still had to cull them, to get enough of the right size, but it was easier.  The rest of the hex rows I used 8°s, which are much easier to find.  Those little silver dots on the edges are beads.  Very.   Tiny.  Beads.</p>
<p>These are both lapel pins.  I imagine you could attach a strap to them and use them as a necklace, but they are not very rigid.  The legs flop around a bit.  <span style="color:#ff6600;"><strong>Flop</strong></span>.  One of those technical beading terms.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Three EP&#8217;s in an ambient, minimalist, folk setting. I know little about the band, except that supposedly Brian Eno and Robert Fripp (!) have both been involved in one way or other. The instrumentation is mainly various strings, various synthetic sounds, female vocals, and the occasional guitar. Together it sounds sublime, intoxicating, and mesmerisingly mysterious.</p>
<p>I must admit that I am occasionally bored with minimalist ambient music, but <em>Fovea Hex</em> manages to keep the interest of the listener with protuberant vocals and layered folk melodies. Unlike certain other minimalist artists the result even feels deep and thought provoking. After request the download has been removed, but  the music can be previewed on their website, where also FLAC or MP3 can be purchased. Like everything I&#8217;ll promote on this site, it is highly recommended.</p>

From the album Defixiones by Diamanda Galas, &#8220;Orders From The Dead&#8221; is a call to remember and to recognize these persecutions. &#8220;DEFIXIONES&#8221; refers to the      warnings which were placed on  graves  in      Greece and Asia Minor. They cautioned against moving or desecrating the      corpses under threat of extreme harm. They were a hex, a curse and a call from the souls of those who were deemed unworthy of grace. In a world where much of our struggles are influenced by cultural and religious fundamentalism – Defixiones could not be more relevant.</p>

<p>[Incudie] tipped us off about <a href="http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?s=&#38;showtopic=697073&#38;view=findpost&#38;p=4573643">a method to fix a borked HDD in your Xbox 360</a>. Many of the <a href="http://hackaday.com/2009/11/17/banned-xbox-360s-boon-or-bust/">one million consoles banned</a> earlier in the month also had the hard disks scrambled making off-line gaming impossible as well. It turns out that this is caused by having a ban flag in the NAND chip on the motherboard. It has been discovered that because of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wear_levelling">wear levelling</a>, the NAND will have two copies of the &#8220;secdata.bin&#8221; file which stores the ban flag. Please note, this will NOT allow the console to use Xbox Live, it just re-enables the HDD.</p>
<p>The quick and dirty of the fix is as follows: First the <a href="http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=690493">NAND is dumped</a> from your Xbox 360 to a computer. After verifying the file, it can be opened in a HEX editor and the two copies of &#8220;secdata.bin&#8221; located. Once identified by date, the older version is injected on top of the newer to overwrite the ban flag.</p>
<p>Looks like this is not for the faint of heart, but if you got banned for modding in the first place this should be easy to pull off.</p>
<p><strong>Update</strong>: Looks like xbox-scene now has a <a href="http://www.xbox-scene.com/xbox1data/sep/EkVAklFEykKVCRayhA.php">collection of apps to help you</a> with this process. [Thanks CollinstheClown]</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>My sewing mojo is still gone, having left home with no forwarding address.  I keep wanting to do <em>something</em> creative with my hands, but have no incentive or staying power for sewing.  It&#8217;s driving me <span style="color:#993300;"><strong><em>completely insane!</em></strong></span></p>
<p><a href="http://szmusil.wordpress.com/files/2009/11/bow-set-up.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-529" title="Bow Set-up" src="http://szmusil.wordpress.com/files/2009/11/bow-set-up.jpg" alt="" width="510" height="340" /></a>To help combat this creative malaise, I&#8217;ve gotten out the beads, deciding to work up a project from the most recent Bead &#38; Button magazine.  I have a friend whose favorite color is lime green (not the previously mentioned niece).  If this turns out, it will be a nice Christmas present for her.</p>
<p>The piece with the dangling threads is 1/4 of a beaded bow.  Two upper loops, two lower loops, attach in the middle and add a pin on the back.  I promise, pictures when it&#8217;s finished!</p>
<p>Oh, and the cable bit in the title &#8211; while that looks like thread holding the beads together, it is actually Fireline.  Fireline is a very thin coated cable used for fly fishing.  Available at most sporting goods stores, Fireline has taken the beading world by storm.  It&#8217;s very appropriate for use with crystals and rough glass beads &#8211; ones where the edges are sharp, and likely to cut through regular nylon (Nymo, Sono) thread.</p>
<p>This piece is using hex beads, which have that sharp edge, so it&#8217;s needle and cable as my creative outlet.  If anyone sees my<span style="color:#008080;"><strong> sewing mojo</strong></span>, please send it home!</p>

Par exemple, on peut trouver des blancs représentés en valeur hexadécimale par le code 20. Certains de ses caractères ressemblent à des blancs mais n&#8217;en sont pas. Ils ne disparaîtront donc pas avec une fonction COMPRESS sans troisième paramètre. La valeur hexadécimale de ces caractères est par contre une valeur lisible.</p>
<p>Voici comment afficher votre texte en valeur hexadécimale et ce dans la log ?</p>

<p>I just downloaded the latest update which has new color palettes, now you have 3 options, True colors, Websafe and X11. The update also has Photo color picker which could come in very handy</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Got rid of the beard this morning (although my sideburns are mysteriously bigger than previously&#8230;).  AmberG this morning looked at me with narrowed eyes for a couple of seconds and rubbed my cheeks anyway &#8211; just to check.</p>
<p>Millie was very very tired this morning &#8211; probably from where she woke up crying a couple of times last night; I had to sit and stroke her head till she went back to sleep.  This morning while I was in the shower she walked into the bathroom to ask if she could put on some music to relax to.  Five minutes later I found her in my bedroom listening to <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCw2seCIwGE" target="_blank">Bark Psychosis</a> (which I suppose <em>is</em> quite relaxing, but also quite dark), having turned the computer on, opened <a href="http://www.foobar2000.org/" target="_blank">foobar2000</a> and started music playing all by herself.</p>
<p>Anyway, ignoring the usual requests for <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbPEFyAbwqE" target="_blank">Buffalo Soldier</a> (but, strangely, not for <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WY57jGNCN8Q" target="_blank">Mama Mia</a>, her favourite song by a country mile lately) I put on this -</p>

<p>- Saint-Saens&#8217; Aquarium from Carnival Of The Animals, which Millie&#8217;s never heard before, but which she quickly described as &#8220;<em>like somebody running up and down the stairs in a scary castle</em>&#8221; and asked me to play it again.</p>
<p>I know she&#8217;s my daughter so I naturally think she&#8217;s the cleverest child that has ever existed in the history of humankind ever, but I thought that showed a fair bit of imagination for a four-year-old.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Don&#8217;t you love it when you&#8217;re shopping for clothes and everything you try on is awful (well no, that part sucks quite horribly), but putting on your own outfit again brings instant joy because you&#8217;re still as mad about it as the day you bought it?  Well returning to this blog is much like that.  And it damn well better be after all the precious time I spent trying on all the other themes only to be disappointed by their lack of versatility.  This theme &#8220;vigilance&#8221; is just grand.  I was able to pop in a pic taken earlier this year in Addo (where there were far too few actual Elephants to photograph!)  And then on top of it I had the much appreciated freedom to colour co-ordinate it all myself&#8230;with&#8230;what must i use?  Hex colours?  Now what&#8217;s that supposed to mean? Being more of the hands on &#8217;stain your fingernails with oils&#8217; kinda artist versus the &#8216;clicking away at pixels&#8217; variety, well that term meant sweet bugger-all to me.  No matter &#8211; instant knowledge is at hand.  And after a briefly infuriating browsing session, where I opened site upon site of horrific neon swatches, I sought out this gorgeous little beast of a page : <a href="http://www.2createawebsite.com/build/hex-colors.html">http://www.2createawebsite.com/build/hex-colors.html</a> which resembles my high school colour wheel with far more accuracy.   It also gives the hex code and has a nifty little  complimentary hues function.  Nice one!  I hope it is of use to some other old school artists out there <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>

My articles are for ‘the Australian online magazine of culture and the popular arts’,</em><a href="http://www.theenthusiast.com.au/"> The Enthusiast</a>. <em>My fourth and final article is a feature for their ‘TV’ category.</em></p>
<p>When casual fans tuned in to ABC’s <a href="http://www.abc.net.au/tv/goodgame/"><em>Good Game</em></a> several weeks ago, they may have been a little confused. The video game programme’s co-founder and co-host, Junglist (Jeremy Ray), was gone. In his place was a new host, Hex (Stephanie Bendixsen). It was only at the episode’s end that a quick farewell was given to Junglist, without further explanation. Casual fans may have been somewhat perturbed and puzzled by Junglist’s abrupt mid-season disappearance. But for the hardcore <em>Good Game</em> fans, an uproar had already begun.</p>
<p>Three days before the show aired, the decision was announced via an impersonal <a href="http://www2b.abc.net.au/tmb/Client/Message.aspx?b=59&#38;t=84&#38;a=0&#38;ps=20&#38;m=281575&#38;dm=1&#38;p=1">press release</a> on the <em>Good Game</em> forums, followed by numerous posts back and forth, and finally a slightly more personal <a href="http://www2b.abc.net.au/tmb/Client/Message.aspx?b=59&#38;t=151&#38;a=0&#38;ps=20&#38;m=289368&#38;dm=1&#38;p=1">follow-up announcement</a> nearly a week later. The lack of openness was galling enough, considering this is a show tagged as being “by gamers, for gamers”. But then Junglist commented on the forums that lies were circulating, only part of the story was being told, and in fact, his axing was forced on him from above, in a stated effort to gain “mass appeal” through a female presenter. Apparently, Junglist had also been contesting the lack of time allotted for reviewing games, or had ‘performance issues’, depending on who you listen to.</p>
<p>The story spread, with articles from <a href="http://www.kotaku.com.au/2009/10/good-game-explains-why-junglist-was-axed/">gaming websites</a>, <a href="http://www.theage.com.au/digital-life/games/good-game-presenter-claims-abc-gender-bias-after-axing-20091030-hoch.html">mainstream commercial media</a> and the <a href="http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2009/11/02/2730963.htm">ABC </a>itself. Everyone had their side of the story (as far as possible within confidentiality agreements) and fans voiced their opinions at every opportunity. Amid the secrecy, speculation and internet chatter, the truth is elusive. Of course, a <a href="http://www.savejunglist.com/">website </a>was also created to redress the problem, or just provide a gathering place of support. In the end, the main issue is that ABC management made another bungle in their handling of this and they neglected their established fanbase. A familiar name shares the blame: Head of Arts and Entertainment, Amanda Duthie, the same woman dumped as Head of Comedy after she gave <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4BFuxsCwE1Q">that <em>Chaser </em>sketch </a>the green light.</p>
<p>Still, the ire has died down somewhat. Hex has been on for three weeks and after a bumpy start, it looks like there may be hope for the show yet. It’s just a shame they chose two ‘casual’ gamers, and removed the differing perspective of an established ‘hardcore’ gamer. This week marked the first time Hex and Bajo even had a significant disagreement about a game; even <em>they</em> felt it was noticeable enough to point out. Bajo and Hex would have been perfect for the upcoming children’s version of the programme, <em>Good Game: SP </em>on ABC3, with Junglist and Bajo remaining for the original and its subsequent increase in ‘mature’ content. Instead, we’ll have to wait and see how it all progresses, and whether ABC has learnt their lesson and will listen to the show’s fans, or at least talk openly with them, before any other drastic decisions are made.</p>
<p>Still, the show is worth watching. Whether you’re a casual gamer, semi-fanatic, or even a non-gamer, there’s plenty to keep you interested. <a href="http://twitter.com/bajopants">Bajo </a>and <a href="http://twitter.com/hexsteph">Hex </a>even live-tweet the show as it airs every week on ABC2. Well, your wrong. You are a zombie and you will die alone. But we&#8217;ll discuss that subject some other time. Right now we are here to show you the best 5 ways to coolify your name i.e. your IM/social media display name. We&#8217;ll assume that you&#8217;ve already tried putting smileys or hearts or some other dumb bullshit in your display name, or if you&#8217;re really hardcore you&#8217;ve already tired the fishes (example: <em>&#60;º))))&#62;&#60;.·´¯`·John Smith·´¯`·.¸&#62;&#60;((((º&#62;</em>) or some other poorly creative ASCII combination thinking &#8220;that&#8217;s the one, now I&#8217;m unique&#8221;. Well, you&#8217;re wrong again, you&#8217;re not unique, and you probably never will be. But no worries, we&#8217;re here to help and give you that conversation starting nick, bringin&#8217; lots of them &#8220;d00d, WTF is that?&#8221;. So lets start from the top saying a few words about what ASCII is. ASCII (American Standard Code for Information Interchange) is a 7-bit representation of the English alphabet widely used in information technology and the world wide web until recently when it started to get replaced by the UTF-8 witch is an improved character encoding technique. We are saying this because when you try to convert a Chinese letter into something else and you get an error you won&#8217;t bitch about it. Instead you&#8217;ll know that most of the converters work only with the 128 ASCII characters and you&#8217;ll feel less dumb. But enough about character encoding techniques. Lets start the countdown. There are many converters, generators, translators, encoders and such out there, but very few of them are actually good and usable. So we&#8217;ve made this list to help you create that unique display name that you&#8217;ve always wanted without having to browse the web for days searching for the method that&#8217;s right for you.<br />

<p>1. Binary code<br />
-The binary code is a text representing system using only the digits &#8220;1&#8243; and &#8220;0&#8243;. It can also represent processor instructions but we&#8217;re not interested in that. We&#8217;re only interested in what you can do with it in terms of encoding text. The answer is plenty. Like in the picture shown bellow you can encode your name into binary code making it readable for only a small number of people out there. So when your IM contacts see that long string of ones and zeroes sitting in the place of your dull name they are bound to ask &#8220;what the hell man?&#8221;. Because hex code scares us a little bit we&#8217;re not going to say anything else about it, instead we&#8217;ll only give you the hex generators and leave you with a warning. -If you wanna kick it old school we recommend the Morse code. All of us have heard about it, and we all know that it represents the characters with dots &#8220;.&#8221; and dashes &#8220;-&#8221;. The short and long elements can also be presented in a form of sound, light, etc. But since most of us have never been in the navy, we have no clue in understanding it or how to use it. Fortunately the internet is here to help, giving us the opportunity to create or decode Morse code. The first and third Morse generators give us the option to create and download not only the visual representation shown in dots an dashes but the audio one also. That&#8217;s pretty useless when you&#8217;re trying to change your display name, but it can be used as a pretty sweet ring tone or an alarm or something that will beep the fuck of your friends.<br />

-This way of generating text or other stuff also is useless in terms with your display name because the end result of the generator will be a image and not a string of text that you could use as a nick. But it could make you a great avatar, or a cell phone background or such which will distinguish you from the rest. Just don&#8217;t tattoo the barcode on yourself because you&#8217;ll eventually regret it, and you&#8217;ll look like a douche. You&#8217;ve been warned.<br />

-This isn&#8217;t an actual language, so it doesn&#8217;t have strict rules in regards with it&#8217;s creating and it&#8217;s interpretation. There are many variants of leet so the translation from leet to plane English isn&#8217;t always correct. Also there are many forms of leetness starting from plain leet and going to advanced leet which like the binary code can be fully understood by very few people. These are the best leet translators and generators that we could find, but unlike the other translators mentioned earlier these three aren&#8217;t compatible with each other. In other words, something that has been translated into leet in one translator can&#8217;t be translated back into plain English in an other. That&#8217;s because leet isn&#8217;t an actual language, like we mentioned earlier. So if you&#8217;re a hardcore nerd you won&#8217;t need these three translators. <content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Alas it be that time again, there has been many a development in the past week or so in reference to this which shine a little more light on what could be the &#8216;real&#8217; reason for Jeremys departure. As endgame approaches (end of his contract, maybe it&#8217;s already over? If so I&#8217;ll buy him some complimentary hookers and blow) we are more resolute and less reliant on prescription drugs to fuel our angry rants. The situation is still totally &#8216;Bogus&#8217;. But enough about me. I apologise for the time period, I&#8217;ve been addicted to Dragon Age. Only today did I finally complete everything in the entire game (pretty much) so I have had time to write.</p>
<p>I shall start with what appears to be a peace offering from the GG team extended toward me personally. I recieved an email a few days ago from Janet Carr offering me the opportunity to go see how the show is made in Sydney. They were NOT going to fly me (rumour mill goes a-changin&#8217;) and I declined due to my location. I live in Geelong, you think I&#8217;m a millionaire? Well only in Tijuana. This changed the offer for a chance to meet them in Melbourne for the Game Connect Asia Pacific conference. Being the guy who loves free stuff that I am (as well as getting the opportunity to meet people from the forums who owe me a drink. I think you know who you are. I never forgive, I never forget.) I am of course bound to accept. But hey, if you are in Melbourne and attending then feel free to say hi. I&#8217;ll be the dude with the long blonde hair. You&#8217;ll know. No I don&#8217;t sell drugs to schoolchildren. Not often anyway.</p>

<p>The following post is a response to a thread entitled &#8220;Why can&#8217;t GG have three hosts?&#8221;. It concerns GG&#8217;s production. It may have a few clues.</p>

<p><span style="color:#ff0000;">Every week is slightly different depending on whether there&#8217;s a developer in town or something but in general most weeks go like this:</span></p>
<p><span style="color:#ff0000;">Monday &#8211; Studio day &#8211; shoot all links/reviews etc for the following Monday&#8217;s show. Gog does all the online stuff for the show going to air that night. Set up forums etc. Try to be on couch by 8.30.</span></p>
<p><span style="color:#ff0000;">Tuesday &#8211; News/Backwards Compatible/Ask Good Game shoot day. Often this only requires one presenter and we try to keep it to that whenever possible &#8211; ie if its Bajo&#8217;s news he&#8217;ll do the BC too etc. We also attempt to make it that the person with the biggest/longest game to review that week is not required to come to do the news etc giving them an extra review day (not always possible.)</span></p>
<p><span style="color:#ff0000;">Wed &#8211; Game Review day unless the presenters are required for a shoot. Most often not as Rei does most of the &#8220;field&#8221; reports. Shoot day for Rei and Moe. Office/prep/edit day for Syd, Gog and the rest of the gang.</span></p>
<p><span style="color:#ff0000;">Thurs &#8211; Game review/write/capture day for hosts.  Final Edit etc for rest of us for following weeks episode.</span></p>
<p><span style="color:#ff0000;">Friday &#8211; midday. Production meeting outlining next weeks production followed by script read of reviews and other links. 2pm Final sound mix of following weeks show. Friday arvo &#8211; changes to scripts, rehearsal for Monday&#8217;s shoot&#8230;off to the pub.</span></p>
<p><span style="color:#ff0000;">I&#8217;d be lying if I didn&#8217;t acknowledge that everyone on the team puts in many hours of their own time. This weekend alone Bajo is lost to Dragon Age, Hex is stabbing her way through Assassins Creed II, Jeremy Pencil has New Super Mario Bros. Wii and I&#8217;m on XBLA game duty.</span></p>

<p>Ah, 2 review days per week. I see. So what happens when 1 person is reviewing 2 triple-A games in 1 week? It equates to 1 review per day, and the quality of the reviews suffer. Without counting beyond August, 22 of the first 30 weeks this year involved at least 1 person doing more than 1 review in that week. That&#8217;s 73% of January through August that reviews suffered due to this schedule. Time management issues, indeed.</p>
<p>Some of those extra games would just be smaller downloadable titles, yet some of them would be AAA, or worse, MMOs, and SOME weeks involved review days being taken up with filming interviews, gags, etc.</p>
<p>As Syd states, everyone&#8217;s happy to dig into their own personal time because it&#8217;s just games.</p>
<p>But that shouldn&#8217;t be a given. When footage capture time is factored into a 10 hour production day, this system promotes only getting 7 or so hours into a game, and certainly doesn&#8217;t allow for the necessary reflection time that breeds proper insight.</p>
<p>That&#8217;s been my position for the last year, and I believe both parties are guilty here. Myself for not working the way I was asked to, and management for not understanding the medium.</p>

I think we can see the result of this review schedule in the fact that Bajo couldn&#8217;t complete his Dragon Age review as a result of the code &#8216;malfunctioning&#8217;. That sounds a little too convenient for my tastes.</span></span></p>
<p style="text-align:left;">An MMO might have to be reviewed in two days? Well sure that would be possible with some of them, since there are alot of cheap generic terrible clones of each other. But you certainly couldn&#8217;t review an MMO or an RPG in the same timeframe as say, Call of Duty over 9000. (Whichever one we are at now, I forgot.)</p>
<p style="text-align:left;">If Junglist has had the position there isn&#8217;t enough time to review games then indeed he is guilty of not working the way he was asked to. But what you have to question is whether that decision for the reviews to be so shallow (in such a short space of time, not saying they should be playing 80+ hours a week) came from up above or &#8230; the Archdemon Skeleton Lord of a Thousand Firey Dead Souls Born Upon the Acid of a Unicorns Viscera. Also known as the Executive Producer Kath Earle.  The problem is when you have an executive producer that has no idea about the medium then you have a problem. It&#8217;s akin to letting a CS player referee the rules of an Age of Empires tournament. There would be utter chaos.</p>
<p style="text-align:left;">So the Archdemon Skeleton Lord of a Thousand Firey Dead Souls Born Upon the Acid of a Unicorns Viscera (Executive Producer) would seem to be more likely the cause of this Junglist sacking. But then again I don&#8217;t know anything you don&#8217;t. As said, we can see what has happened so far. It&#8217;s been a fucking inferno of stupidity to which several different reasons have been given for his sacking. But none of them even make sense, the one that does is that he wanted to REVIEW GAMES PROPERLY IN A GIVEN TIME. I&#8217;ll give another example, it&#8217;s not my own. It&#8217;s one Jeremy posted on the forums of their average working day. It is in response to a claim Bajo has that &#8216;clashes&#8217; have only happened once.</p>

Green is myself, blue is Baj, and yellow is other. 3 units were given to big games such as MMOs, 2 for a triple-A (or equal time), and 1 for a smaller game that required little effort. I&#8217;m sure you can read but you probably aren&#8217;t reading all of this, more than likely just skimming along it (I know I am, hell I want to get back to the Brothel in Denerim). As said it also doesn&#8217;t include extra work like interviews.</p>
<p style="text-align:left;">This is the review workload. I&#8217;m sure you can work out taht the dates are what is going to be reviewed on that day. Now I have no arguments that you can probably review Outrun HD and Virtual Tennis 09 in a short space of time, but by fuck or by duck games like Monkey Island and Call of Juarez are really long games that take far longer than a days play to get the hang of. I&#8217;ll let you look at Junglists for yourself since I&#8217;ll just be repeating like I usually do.</p>
<p style="text-align:left;">It seems Junglist definitely wasn&#8217;t doing his job. That is if his job was not review games properly and not complain about the process which wouldn&#8217;t give a just review of the games being played. It&#8217;s worthwhile to note that UNTIL THIS PICTURE they continued to deny that the review schedule was relatively shoddy and relied on &#8216;home time&#8217; for the scrap of good it would do.</p>

<p><span style="color:#ff0000;">As all of the team are gamers the discussion about what games we are playing is constant in the office and we all use this to bounce ideas/thoughts around and sharing perspectives.</span></p>

We do have the budget to purchase more than one copy if we felt we needed to (ie multi format or if the games multiplayer is a key feature).</span></p>
<p><span style="color:#ff0000;">It’s common knowledge that Good Game has writers and presenters and producers. The whole team contributes words to the show, it&#8217;s the skill of the presenters that they make it their own.</span></p>

<p>This rarely happens. I can only remember 2-3 times. So yes, it&#8217;s pretty much always 1 person writing the whole review, both perspectives and scores. The system is as strong as the reviewer&#8217;s ability to put him/herself in another person&#8217;s shoes, which is a necessary skill for any reviewer addressing a mainstream audience. For a reviewer that knows the game well, it&#8217;s reasonable to assume they can write for both the hardcore and casual perspective.</p>
<p>The bigger problem will come as GG brings in more freelance reviews, as has been announced will happen next year. Then you&#8217;ve got both presenters who haven&#8217;t played the game.</p>

In fact I kind of regret saying that even, I just really don&#8217;t even want to talk about it and just move on with making the best damn gaming show we can.</span></p>

<p>The Archdemon Skeleton Lord of a Thousand Firey Dead Souls Born Upon the Acid of a Unicorns Viscera Executive Producer who doesn&#8217;t know a thing about reviewing but works on the show regardless, coupled with Archlock Duthie of the Sundered Lands of Misogyny who like to make decisions for mass appeal.</p>

<p>I think this too speaks for itself. It is indeed a carefully worded post which was obviously manipulated as Orwell would say to give the appearance of solidity to wind. The team supports the decision as I&#8217;ve said because if they didn&#8217;t Good Game would be getting alot more than a new host.</p>

<p>Just shows you how &#8217;solid&#8217; the team statement is. I&#8217;m surprised this post didn&#8217;t get edited because it clearly shows dissension amongst the ranks and reeks of a team who do as they are told rather than how they actually feel. But I&#8217;m done on that.<br />
It&#8217;s fairly clear the teams statement was more than likely written by someone that isn&#8217;t a part of the team that work on the show. Do I have any proof of that? Not really. But it is easy to tell that things are not all as they seem in the sleepy hollow. Especially with the little nuggets of truth mined from Gogs old posts. Why would he say the statement was cleverly worded? It indeed was. But worded by whom?</p>
<p>Attacking Junglists credibility as a reviewer because he simply disagreed with the reviewing processes and probably complained is totally out of order and resulted in what I&#8217;d call an explosion of angst amongst the geek communitys. I personally eagerly await until Jungs contract is expired at the end of November. I also eagerly await meeting the team on December 6th, along with my mate. If you are there on the Sunday at GCAP don&#8217;t hesitate to say hi. Don&#8217;t punch me though, that&#8217;d result in an angry rant on here about what a jerk you are. It&#8217;d destroy you. (Sarcasm.) But still, while it has slowed there are still so many questions.</p>

<p>Ini sudah cukup, tak perlu milyar. Gradasi atau tingkatan warna disebut <em>kedalaman warna</em> (<em>color depth</em>). Jadi 256 kedalaman warna masing-masing dapat diwakili oleh R = 1 <em>byte</em>,<em> </em>G = 1 <em>byte</em>,<em> </em>dan B = 1 <em>byte</em>. Total 3 <em>byte </em>atau 24-<em>bit</em>. <p style="text-align:left;">Hello again. I&#8217;ll get rid of the &#8216;whoa oa oa oa oa&#8217; I usually begin with because nobody knew what that meant. And nobody even knew what the sound I was referring to was, so it&#8217;s gone. Sorry if you liked it but I want to appeal to the masses to gain a bigger audience. &#8220;Whoa oa oa oa oa&#8221; doesn&#8217;t appeal to a major audience, so now I&#8217;ll be using the catchphrase &#8220;Bogus!&#8221; instead. The ABCs handling of this has been pretty &#8216;bogus&#8217;. It fits the square it&#8217;s alotted into.</p>
<p style="text-align:left;">What has happened? Well. It has been in the news, the GG team has taken cover in their underground bunker, the ABC have turned on their PR machine. The community (mostly) is really angry at Junglists forced departure mid season which even lead to so many posts the forums were down periodically across the past week. People are pretty mad, but there isn&#8217;t going to be any closure on this for anyone. The ABC are going to ride it through the last few weeks of the show. And they&#8217;ll pray. Pray that people forget. But back to bogus.</p>
<p style="text-align:left;">Heres a picture so you understand my usage of the word.</p>

That really got me angry watching the &#8216;enhanced&#8217; version of Return of the Jedi to find out Hayden Christensen had usurped his way onto my TV screen. Stop ruining my memories damnit. I totally acknowledge Jungs contribution to GG &#8211; and yeah I can see how it feels like we&#8217;ve stabbed a mate &#8211; and what&#8217;s the Aussie thing to do? Stand up for a mate in a fight right? But this show is more than just one person &#8211; is and always has been.<br />
GG has been my life for the last nearly four years…   why on earth would I want anything to hurt it?</span></p>

<p>Is editing someones post coercion? Well from this standpoint no not directly. But why was it changed? Likely because it spoke the truth. After all, it wouldn&#8217;t be changed because TheGog was lying about it. That would make no sense at all. Not even in a Tim Burton movie.</p>
<p>Well if you are forcing compliance then that would surely count as coercion. They forced him to change his post because he didn&#8217;t tow the line. They after all released a statement that they support it as a team. TheGog wouldn&#8217;t be towing the line if he said that they were worried from behind the scenes by the ABCs decision which came from above.</p>
<p>I&#8217;ll quote from that post again, like a sort of rabid rottweiler. I always liked dissecting dead frogs in high school.</p>

Most of the team were not informed of the decision as you said. Yet you say the decision has nothing to do with bringing in a girl? Sounds like you have as much control over your show as NASA does over the temperature of the sun. You do realise that clashes with what Jeremy said. I think they did realise thats what Jeremy said. What did he say again? Ah. Mass appeal. The ONLY reason given to him in his meeting where they told him he was going to be thrown out. I was born at night ABC, not last night.</span></span></p>

Jeremy saying it was &#8216;gender bias&#8217; as well as done for &#8216;mass appeal&#8217; was severely hurting the shows credibility and the fact that the GG team could not talk due to &#8216;legal issues&#8217; was also hurting in itself. When somebody has more credibility than you and you are hurting, you have to damage theirs or you&#8217;ll look like a murderer in comparison. Confusion is the ABCs best weapon and by fuck they know how to use it. When you say someone has had performance issues the wording is ambiguous enough that it damages Jeremys public look. It makes it sound a little more insidious. After all, the majority of the community again (shown by the sheer amount of traffic the forum has undergone) didn&#8217;t get to see much of the work behind the scenes. But the ABC throws that out there anyway, how could we possibly dismiss it! It&#8217;s certainly an attack on the credibility of someone who worked on the show since it&#8217;s inception. I&#8217;m not going to debate whether it&#8217;s true or not I have no way of knowing that. Whether thats true or not is irrelevant, that is how it is interpreted. If you wanted to be clear then you could have said &#8220;I&#8217;m Syd. I decided that it was a good idea to fire Jeremy mid season with no explanation at all. We will also get mad when he exposes some bad truths and release that it was performance issues. &#8221; Those are words that everybody can understand. You&#8217;d be making my job here a LOT easier too. Think of me sometime too when you decide to be so ambiguous.</span></span></p>

<p>What possible truth bomb COULD they drop? Well lets see. They could admit to editing their own posts, the decision not being theirs, forced compliance to the decision by the ABC and admitting that they have no real control over their own show if Jeremy can be dropped mid season. My god. They could drop a nuke. On themselves.</p>
<p>He has disagreed with the ABC on reviewing policies? That is quoted again in many of the news articles. One of the quotes went along the lines of &#8220;they wanted a game reviewed and done in a working day&#8221;. How does that give any sort of real game justice? An RPG or an MMO (which are VERY popular gaming genres amongst people that play) would take way longer than a working day. You are hurting the credibility of your show if this is the case. (Note: Bajo posted saying that he was never forced to do it in 24 hours, just that there were deadlines. He did not exactly state the deadlines but did say that he often gets more time than a day to review a game.)</p>
<p>If you disagree with the ABC it seems you will get kicked in the nuts by them eventually.</p>

I think that those that still trust the ABC  after this probably are oblivious to what is going on. Upper management are referenced again, Syd really should watch out for that. One could get the feeling she has no actual power over her own show as it were. Well she has the power to make ambiguous forum posts surely that counts for something. Well not really, you are about as legitimate as Fox News to most  of us now. There HAS been a change to the content as Jeremy said, you just removed the hardcore gamer mid-season.</span></p>

If they TRULY felt that they still could not talk about the real reasons for his axing (As said, mass appeal) then they would state it. But instead they attack his credibility so that one will dismiss whatever he says outright. Or they could sue him for dropping a truth bomb. Of course that would look bad on them and be thrown out due to their own handling of the matter and their own &#8216;truth bombs&#8217;. (Albeit dropped onto themselves.)</span><br />
It&#8217;s quite amusing that the ABC still wouldn&#8217;t hold up a truthful reason for his expulsion other than that which couldn&#8217;t even float in the Red Sea. Thats the one full of so much salt even Amanda Vanstone (sp?) could walk on water. Trust is gone with the ABC and the team dig their holes deeper and deeper as time goes on. No vote taken, no consensus just compounds the fact that it was a decision from up above who thought it was the right way to go. Even though the show was at the peak of it&#8217;s popularity.</p>

For gamers, by what ABC believes should be for mass appeal would be a far less ambiguous title for the show.<br />

<p>It&#8217;s important to realise that attacks on Jeremys credibility are coming way too late for them to have a semblance of truth. If his performance was the issue THAT would have come with the press release. But instead the press release danced around it and merely introduced the new host. They did not even begin with this &#8216;performance issue&#8217; until it was far far far too late for it to work. Kinda like breaking into a room after the SWAT teams already rescued the hostages and then shooting the dead bodies of the terrorists.</p>
<p>What is even MORE important is that the ABCs damage control has led to Hex being targeted by angry geeks (not myself, when have I criticised directly?) in a series of fairly sexist comments etc etc. It&#8217;s horrible that Jungs gone, but she is a god damn person who merely took an &#8216;awesome job&#8217; as Jung put it. Good to see they&#8217;d rather let a poor girl take all the flak than admit their own mistakes.</p>
<p>Wait, a semblance of an admin! I&#8217;ma go a bit offtopic now, so feel free to scroll over the next few pictures to the end. I&#8217;m a petty sort of guy.</p>

If this was a pilot it&#8217;d be axed, Bajo looked like he had come off the beaches of Normandy and Hex looked like she had come off a night crying over Livejournal (I&#8217;m not going to post that picture, Hex isn&#8217;t the one in the wrong here I&#8217;m just commenting in a harsh and unfair manner like they have towards Jung). The review of Borderlands must have shown they didn&#8217;t research it at all and I don&#8217;t recall them mentioning it was on the console. Nor the coop issues. I imagine they played LAN, but it still works to actually look at the game as a whole. For Christ sakes. Wii Golf after arguing that the show won&#8217;t be dumbed down?</p>
<p>Oh and to those that don&#8217;t know Junglist has been there since the beginning, so don&#8217;t give me that &#8216;he auditioned&#8217; line.</p>
