And we bet you already own a version Bella’s blue hooded jacket (made by BB Dakota) — but with “New Moon” comes a whole new shopping list. So, starting today, we’ll look back at the making of the movie’s wardrobe with costume designer Tish Monaghan. First up: Edward (Robert Pattinson) and Bella (Kristen Stewart).

BEGINNING THE PROCESS
“There was already a particular look in place, so the first thing I did was find out from the studio and the director, Chris Weitz, if they were happy with the looks of the characters,” recalled costume designer Tish Monaghan. “Were there things they wanted changed? Once I got those instructions — there were only minor adjustments to be made.” Bella’s presentation from “Twilight” was kept consistent. “[The studio and Chris] liked that she was a tomboy and that she was in earth tones and was a little bit out of place. So I picked up on all of those comments, and when I did all of my purchasing for her, I stayed more or less in that world unless there was something specific that was required in the script.”

EVERYTHING OLD IS NEW AGAIN
During a interesting (to say the least!) double “date” with Mike (Michael Welch, left) and Jacob (Taylor Lautner, right) Bella wore the “Signe Smocked top” by Joie and American Eagle jeans. But the most notable part of her outfit is her token accessories — the turquoise bracelet and moonstone ring, which, according to Tish, were the very same trinkets Kristen wore in “Twilight.”

I’ve always had an issue with our children automatically taking their father’s last name.  As a child I used to imagine that I would miraculously marry a man who had the same last name as me!  As it turns out, I have good reason to have an issue with this.

I never wanted to change my last name when I got married, but I did, because I wanted the same last name as my children. (I did however keep my ‘maiden’ name as my third name. It was the only way I knew that would ensure my children and grandchildren would know where my side of the family came from!)

How ridiculous is it that names carry on only through the males?  How sad that my father was sad that the lineage of his last name ends with this generation.  That bothered me because we women are carrying on the genes just as much as the boys do… but the ability to track the family history will get more and more difficult.  

After my divorce I went back to my birth name.  It felt right.  I did however have to do a ‘magical name changing’ ceremony to honour that change and to acknowledge that having a name different from my daughters held some grief.  But alas, I knew that they too might change their names, anyway and so I changed to my birth name.

And now each of us have different last names.  Courtney loves her married last name and of course has the same name as her daughter. Megan has her birth name. 

This is all very annoying.  Why? Because the other day I was with a group of people and they were talking about Megan and the Mongol Rally Girls.. and they did not know she was my daughter until I told them.   And I’ve been in the same situation with Courtney who writes for a magazine.  

I want kudos for these two girls! I want people to know they are my daughters!  I want recognition for being their mother!  After these couple of incidences I wanted to put an ad in the paper saying I was their mother.  But instead, I’m blogging about it right here right now.

Please note: Megan Unruh and Courtney Charlton are my daughters. Evalee Charlton is my granddaughter.  And let’s go one step further.. Avee Boyle and Finn Boyle are great niece and nephew.  Their mom Shandee Whitehead is my niece.. but that one we can connect easier since her and I have the same name.    Okay? Everybody got that straight?   Thanks.

I think the only reasonable way to resolve this whole naming issue is for everyone to keep their birth names.  This is a far more common practise throughout the world, it appears from my bit of research, than actually changing names.

THEN, if a couple has a daughter the child is named after the mother. If a boy, then named after the father.  I’ve heard this system exists and  is used in a variety of countries – but I can’t actually find the research to back that up.

Doesn’t that make a lot more sense?  Isn’t that more fair and reasonable? 

My advice to the next generation is to do exactly that.. UNLESS , I suppose, if the man or the woman doesn’t love their birth name anyway, marriage is a great excuse to change it.

Well, today marks the end of school (aside from having to go back for exams).

We arranged the chairs and tables in school yesterday, and had Majlis Restu Ilmu today.
Yeah, my school’s slow in this. But in stuff like running and all, we’re like.. really fast. (That’s how a sports school works. Hahaha.)

Anyway..
I realised that after one and a half years of being in the same school, those typical and prefect-ish Convent girls, still can’t stand how disorderly and slow both most teachers and guy (GUY) students are.

I also realised that the most influential teachers in Form 6 are…

Pn Liew, Mr Mathew, Miss Chang, with Miss Nice Student

Yeap them! Three of them, are popular among students..

There must be a reason why they are popular among students right?

That’s because they teach well, meaning to say, that they put their students needs above themselves.

They are lovely teachers to hang out with any time, and cool people to joke around, plus, Mr Mathew who never fails to joke and laugh with us.

I’m proud to say that they are all Christians, and I believe that God is pleased with them in how they impact and play a part in every student who comes, and goes.

I really really really thank God for such teachers, especially Miss Chang, who has been supporting me, when it comes to bring others a step closer to the Light. Truly, a teacher who has such a passion for them to come to know Him.

Oh, she even prayed for the BB members and me for our coming exams! And I was given a chance to pray for them first, before she did. Hahha. It was worth calling it an unforgettable experience.

I can’t really put into words how much they mean to me, but I guess you’ve caught a glimpse of how proud I am of them, and at the same time, encouraged.

So yeah.

Rock on teachers!

Serena, nama gadis itu, memiliki seorang ayah yang dipenjara seumur hidup karena terbukti membunuh istrinya sendiri, tentunya ibu dari Serena. Tetapi sekarang, hanya jantung sang ayah yang bisa memberi harapan pada Serena untuk tetap hidup. Yang menjadi kendala adalah masalah hukum. Hukum negara bagian dimana mereka tinggal tidak mengijinkan hal-hal semacam suntik mati, dll, apalagi “membunuh” seorang manusia untuk menyelamatkan manusia lainnya.

Pengacara Serena (dari badan hukum di mana Ally bekerja) mengajukan argumen:
Sederhana saja.
Si ayah tidak memiliki masa depan.
Dia akan menghabiskan seluruh hidupnya di penjara.
Dia rela memberikan jantungnya kepada anaknya.
Si anak masih remaja. Masa depannya masih panjang.
Jadi, biarkan Serena hidup dengan jantung ayahnya….
Ini bukan pembunuhan. Ini adalah masalah seorang ayah ingin menolong anaknya.

Pengacara negara menolak hal tersebut. Kalau satu diijinkan, nanti semua narapidana di penjara berbondong-bondong menjadi donor organ tubuh untuk si anu dan si anu, dengan harapan mereka bisa luput dari hukuman atas kejahatan mereka, dengan harapan mereka bisa menjadi pahlawan kesiangan!

Lagipula, siapakah kita sehingga kita berpikir bisa menentukan hidup siapa yang lebih berharga? Jadi, dilihat dari sisi manapun, ini adalah pembunuhan. Dan ini besar efeknya pada masa depan hukum.

Hakim bingung. Sidang pendahuluan ditunda. Penonton penasaran. Adegan berikut menunjukkan wajah Serena dan pengacaranya yang sedih dan kebingunan.

Si ayah melarikan diri dalam perjalanan menuju pengadilan lanjutan. Semua menduga hal ini sudah direncanakan sebelumnya. Serena sedih dan sakit hati.

“Dia adalah pembunuh ibuku! Alangkah tololnya aku, mau percaya bahwa ia bersedia menolong aku untuk tetap hidup…”

Pengacara terdiam. Tidak tahu harus berkomentar apa. Tiba-tiba hand-phone si pengacara berbunyi dari rumah sakit.

Ayah Serena pergi ke rumah sakit dan menyodorkan kartu donor-nya, dan kemudian, menembak dirinya sendiri dengan pistol. Tidak ingin mengambil resiko kalah di pengadilan, si ayah memutuskan mengakhiri hidupnya sendiri. Rumah sakit mendesak Serena untuk segera datang agar operasi bisa segera dilakukan. Jantung ayahnya menunggu, dan tidak bisa menunggu lama.

Di atas ranjang operasi, Serena ragu-ragu. Rasa bersalah menyelimutinya.

“Haruskah aku melakukan ini?” Tanyanya pada semua yang hadir di ruangan.

“Ini jantung ayahku… dan ia menembak mati dirinya sendiri….”

Semua buru-buru menasehatinya.

“Jangan membuat pengorbanannya sia-sia.”

“Kalian kan sudah sepakat dari awal. Hanya saja kita tidak menduga caranya akan seperti ini…”

Tapi ada satu kalimat yang membuat Serena akhirnya mau dioperasi.

“Serena, your father faced death… so you won’t have to.”
(“Serena, ayahmu memilih untuk menghadapi kematian agar kamu tidak perlu mati”)

Saya menangis bukan hanya karena episode tersebut begitu mengharukan, tetapi karena saya sadar bahwa jantung saya hari ini masih berdetak, semata-mata karena ada Satu yang menghadapi maut agar saya tidak perlu mati karena dosa-dosa yang saya perbuat. Namanya adalah Yesus.

“Aku dan Bapa adalah satu,” begitulah pernyataan Yesus selama pelayanan-Nya di bumi, dan saya begitu bahagia karena saya bisa berkata pada diri sendiri: “your Father faced death… so you won’t have to.”, dan saya kira adalah kewajiban kita untuk memberitahukan mereka yang belum tahu akan hal ini.
