Ungdomarna i den kinesiska versionen av High School Musical

Nej det handlar inte om, som man kanske kan förledas att tro av min titel, att ungdomarna från High School Musical-serien reser till Kina. Nej, Walt Disney har faktiskt utannonserat en helt och hållet kinesisk version av den omåttligt populära och Emmy-belönade filmserien. Walt Disney Company samarbetar med de kinesiska bolagen Shanghai Media Group (SMG) and Huayi Brothers Media Corporation för denna produktion. 

Handling? Filmen skall handla om en nykomling i skolan som träffar en kille som har en hemlig passion – att sjunga…. Originellt?

Så, till sommaren 2010, i allafall om du tar vägarna förbi Kina kan du se kinesiska ungdomar sjunga och dansa i en helkinesisk version.

So this weekend, I did something that I thought I would never do. I went over to a friend’s house and watched Twilight, the first movie in what is laughably called “The Twilight Saga.” The reason I did so was because they were “getting ready” to see New Moon, the latest edition of what threatens to be a four movie saga — possibly more given the massive box office numbers of the latest installment. I went because these are my friends and I love them and I love getting together with them. Plus my friend Theresa makes some awesome chips & dip.

Now full disclosure. About a year ago, my wife brought home the first Twilight book on CD. At the time I was working at GameSpy and I had a massive commute every morning so I spent a lot of time listening to books on CD they she would borrow from the library. She knows I like fantasy and SF and according to the book’s description, Twilight was about vampires, so she thought I’d like it. I didn’t know anything about Twilight either, so I listened to it — and I liked it. It wasn’t great literature by any means, it was cute in that “High School Musical” sort of way — it’s a romance aimed at tweeners that just blew up into this massive thing that defies reason.

The benefit of that was that by circumstance I happened to have read Twilight before it blew up into this big pop culture phenomenon and that offers an interesting perspective on it. When my friends and I got together to watch the first movie, about half of us are really into it, while the other half are what you might refer to as “haters.” The thing was that my friend Theresa actually had T-shirts made up that said “Team Edward” and “Team Jacob” and she had gotten her husband a T-shirt that said “H.A.T.E. — Husbands Against Team Edward.” It was then that I realized that none of us was actually serious about this.

Here’s the thing, I know that there are people out there that really like Twilight and enjoy getting caught up in the hype of a phenomenon. We’ve all done it with summer blockbusters or best-selling novels or other “madness of crowds” moments. The thing is that the other side of that also enjoys it on a certain level. “Haters” are also caught up in the hype and they’re enjoying provoking the fans. Having listened to Twilight and enjoyed it and now joining the “haters” camp kind of gives one a bit of remove from the whole process. I’m having fun poking at all the Twilight lovers out there but do I truly “hate” the book? Obviously not, I already mentioned that I enjoyed it.

To me, the only real danger of something like Twilight is there are always those who forget that no matter what side of the “debate” you’re on, it’s all ultimately inconsequential. The fact is that young girls need their dreamboats. Team Edward and Team Jacob are just the latest in a long line of bobby-sox idols that stretch back through the New Kids on the Block to David Cassidy to Elvis to Frank Sinatra and Rudy Vallee. Twilight will fade, as all such fads do. If something like Twilight excites your anger to the point where you get really mad about it, may I suggest you take two spoonfuls of perspective and call me in the morning?

Who doesn’t love a good TV show about camp?

Does Camp Anawanna sound familiar? How about the classic Nickelodeon Television show “Salute Your Shorts.” If you missed that classic 90’s hit, you can catch some of the old episodes at Veoh – here is the first episode.

Talk about a very catchy theme song too …

Salute Your Shorts ran for two seasons and was about a sleepaway camp and the zany thinks going on between the campers and their counselors.

Well, Nickelodeon is going back to camp. Last week it was announced that they have approved a half-hour pilot from the writer of the “High School Musical” movies about sleepaway camp. They hope to capture the excitement of the summer and the experience of being away from home.

Will the new show be able to compare? Only time will tell!

Foi-se o tempo em que os vampiros encarnavam o Mal. As cíclicas repaginações do personagem já criaram dentuços ridículos e apaixonantes. A última das várias releituras aconteceu em 1997. O seriado Buffy transformou uma vítima em potencial, a loiríssima atriz Sarah Michelle Gellar, em vingadora das donzelas sugadas em filmes de terror. Agora, quem vai enquadrar os vamps ao espírito dos novos tempos é Crepúsculo, versão para o cinema da saga-fenômeno Twilight, da escritora Stephenie Meyer. O filme quebrou recordes de arrecadação e bilheteria nos Estados Unidos e deve causar estrondo similar quando estrear no Brasil, no dia 19. O frenesi está atrelado ao sucesso da saga Crepúsculo, que deu sangue novo ao mercado editorial para adolescentes, vendeu 7 milhões de cópias e foi traduzido para 20 línguas.

Assim como o livro, o filme começa com a mudança de Isabella Swan (a novata Kristen Stewart) da ensolarada Phoenix para a chuvosa Fork. Retraída e ensimesmada, Bella tenta se adaptar à mudança para a cidade provinciana e para a nova escola. É quando conhece Edward Cullen (o galã emergente Robert Pattinson, que atuou em Harry Potter), um fascinante rapaz com seis palmos de topete que parece não se bronzear há séculos. A ciclotimia de Edward atormenta Bella: ora ele lhe lança olhares chamejantes, ora parece sentir repulsa. Intrigada, Bella investiga a vida do amado e o força a contar a verdade. Edward se transformou em vampiro em 1918 pelos caninos de Dr. Carlisle Cullen, uma espécie de Drácula benemérito que só mordisca moribundos para salvá-los da morte. Assim fez com sua mulher, Edward e outros quatro jovens. É a grande família Cullen, um clã de vampiros atípico: sem dentões e que não são incinerados quando expostos ao sol. Ao contrário, cintilam como diamantes. E, digamos, quase vegetarianos: renunciaram ao sangue humano para se alimentar de animais. Chupa-cabras do Bem. Por isso Edward é tão vulnerável a Bella. O roteiro do filme dá substância à prosa anêmica e prolixa de Stephenie Meyer. Salpica aventura e suspense, mas o que importa mesmo é o amor dos protagonistas – uma versão abstinente de Leonardo Di Caprio e Kate Winslet em Titanic. Tanto o filme quanto os livros da saga exalam sensualidade enquanto parecem dizer que a negação dos desejos é uma virtude. “Cresci num ambiente em que não era exceção ser boa moça, e meus namorados eram respeitosos”, disse Stephenie a ÉPOCA. “Isso afeta a maneira como escrevo.” Crepúsculo é uma fábula de paixão proibida, privação e provação. Responde aos anseios das garotas da geração W (também chamada de geração do milênio, dos nascidos entre 1980 e 2000): adolescentes e pré-adolescentes ultraconectadas na internet, antenadas e um tanto puritanas. É um conto de fadas sob medida para quem outro dia sonhava com o mundo de Harry Potter e suspirava pelo galã Zac Efron, de High School Musical.

Edward Cullen personifica esses desejos. É romântico, meigo, carinhoso… e recatado. Protege sem exigir nada em troca, nem as típicas apalpadelas dos rapazes. Na única cena de beijo do filme (e do livro), Edward diz: “Não posso ir longe demais com você, tenho de me controlar”. Ambos estão no quarto dela, deitados na cama. Ela adormece. Ele passa a madrugada adorando o rosto de Bella – só o rosto. Edward é um amante à moda antiga talhado para as novas gerações de adolescentes românticas. Sensível e com poderes sobrenaturais, é o perfeito vampiro emo. Alguma dúvida de que o filme vai virar uma febre?

La compañía de Walt Disney ha anunciado de que Disney Studios comenzará a producir la versión China de “High School Musical” para que salga en el verano del 2010.

Esta versión ha estado bajo desarrollo por más de un año y enfocado al público chino. “Disney High School Musical: China” es la historia de un nuevo estudiante que conoce a un talentoso joven que comparte con él una pasión por el canto. Con la ayuda de sus amigos conseguirán sobrepasar los problemas para ganar una competencia intercolegial de canto y descubrir su verdadero llamado.

I’m still in the midst of studying, understanding my sociological theories and concepts and look what I’ve found, a new TV show to follow. If you like High School Musical and any kind of sing-a-long kinda thing, this is THE show for you. I’m just two episodes into it and I am HOOKED! Their songs are AWESOME PAWSOME and you should just youtube it and you would be totally AMAZED.

Zac Efron

De acordo com o JB Online, o ator Zac Efron, de High Scholl Musical, participa de um filme sobre Orson Welles que estreia em dezembro de 2009 na Inglaterra:

O ator norte-americano Zac Efron deu mais um passo para distanciar-se do mundo dos musicais teens que o tornou famoso e estará nas telas em ‘Me and Orson Welles’, no qual o papel-título é feito pelo novato britânico Christian McKay.

No filme, que chega aos cinemas britânicos em 4 de dezembro, Efron, de 22 anos, representa um estudante que por um acaso feliz consegue um papel menor na produção de “Júlio César” no Mercury Theatre, em 1937, dirigida pelo jovem Orson Welles.

Durante uma semana turbulenta ele faz sua estreia na Broadway, inicia um romance com uma mulher mais velha e ousa bater de frente com o dominador Welles.

É o segundo filme novo de Efron desde que ele se diplomou na franquia de enorme sucesso “High School Musical”, que fez dele um ídolo teen. Depois disso ele foi visto em “17 Outra Vez”, que estreou em abril deste ano.

- Fiquei triste por me despedir de ”High School Musical”, mas acho que é uma questão de progressão, de amadurecer e experimentar coisas novas – disse Efron à Reuters no tapete vermelho da première europeia do novo filme, que aconteceu em Londres na noite de quarta-feira.

Falando contra um pano de fundo de dezenas de fãs aos gritos, ele disse: “Este é sem dúvida alguma o próximo passo nessa jornada, para mim”.

Ator se diz preparado.

O ator Zac Efron está pronto para pedir a namorada Vanessa Hudgens em casamento.

O próprio astro dos filmes High School Musical confirmou em entrevista ao programa americano Daily Ten.

Zac disse que se sente preparado para dar o próximo passo em sua relação e arrematou seu comentário dizendo: “Acho que sim, seria genial, porque não?”.

THE LYCHEE TOILETS EXPERIMENT: Trial 1 = FLAVOUR

Go ahead. Let your imagination run wild.  What kind of experiment would possibly combine lychee with toilets?  Maybe for cleaning, or sanitizing, or even, dare I say…for FLAVOUR?
…Now, I don’t know what you’re thinking in terms of flavour, but let me say, that I’m just thinking in terms of the “flavour” of aesthetics haha.

Okay, I’m completely lying.  I have no idea what I mean by “flavour” either.  It just seemed to fit really well with lychees (which do have lots of flavour), and toilets (which probably do not have much flavour…I would think you have not tried…Though I suppose you could ask your dog or cat.  But that depends how well you can communicate with your animal.  After all, if you can’t speak “canine-nese, or feline-nese”, how can you really know if your pet enjoys the flavour from the cleanest water in the house?…ahem.)

Hmm.. I also have no idea how to combine lychee with toilets, though I suppose I could come up with all sorts of ways.  The experiment is just my little psychology thing to see whether the combination of lychee and toilets is enough to get your attention to shift your focus away from your either really fun or really busy life.  Stop paying attention to the daily complexities of your life and enter a world of senseless, fantastical nonsense–The world of my Blog.  Haha. Then again, if you’re already “living the dream”, well, God Bless you…that’s a great attitude to have…and may my oddly entertaining blog add some nonsensical wonder to your existence

Aunque no muchos la conozcan la actriz Claire Danes tiene una carrera muy larga en hollywood, y si, casi todas sus peliculas han fracasado, razon por la cual no quiso pasar desapercibida en la premiere en Londres de su nueva pelicula “Me and Orson Wells”, por lo que decidio dejar al aire sus encantos… mas que encantos parecen un par de limones con chipotes, pero bueno al menos hizo que toda la atencion girara en torno a su falta de bobbies y sus pezones, ese que ven ahi es Gay Efron, coprotagonista de la Claire en dicha cinta… aburrido!!

Gayfron llego a Londres para promocionar su nueva pelicula “Me and Orson Wells” en donde intenta demostrar que sabe actuar, el problema es que nadie le cree, como sea los paparazzis lo captaron en el aeropuerto luciendo muy gay y fashion como de costumbre.

Dance Flick (2009)

Damien Dante Wayans directed this parody about a girl (Shoshana Bush) who moves to the city with her father after her mother dies on the way to her dance audition. With the help of a friend (Essence Atkins), she’s able to meet others, open up a little more and fall for a guy (Damon Wayans Jr.). If that sounds familiar, that’s because that’s pretty much what “Save the Last Dance” was about. But this movie takes it a bit further by adding in “Step Up,” “Step Up 2 the Streets,” “High School Musical,” and “Hairspray” into the mix with occassional popular references to icons such as Britney Spears, Halle Berry, and the like. As accessible as those references were, I liked that Wayans added some less popular jokes such as from movies like “Black Snake Moan.” As idiotic as this movie was, I somewhat enjoyed it because I saw it when I was in the mood for watching something where I don’t have to think. I also liked the fact that it showed some vignettes where it revealed the stupidity of the plot or meaningful of certain dance movies. For instance, in “Step Up 2 the Streets,” people constantly had to fight for “respect” (whatever that means) instead of focusing on issues that would most likely impact their futures like education and working toward achieving something most people would assume to be impossible. This movie’s ability to bluntly present issues like that made me like it because I hardly think fighting for so-called respect should be the main drive of young people today. Still, the movie consistently lost focus such as whenever it would refer to something ridiculous like “Twilight.” In my opinion, if such in-your-face spoof pictures should stay in their own universe. That glaring decision to show something so out of the blue was not only unfunny, it also reflects desperation. “Dance Flick” could have been so much more fun if it had its act together. After all, there are a lot of dance movies out there to make fun of because they take themselves too far. The difference between those and this movie is that “Dance Flick” knows it’s being ridiculous.

So I’ve been analysing the stats on my other blogs and it seems that a mention of a showing of High School Musical in our theatre made the hits on the blog go through the roof. Lets hope at least a few of the people visiting saw something else worth coming back for

Will Smith

O ator mais bem pago do mundo também aposta na carreira como cantor. Ele arrasa no rap e hip hop e, por isso, até teve uma de suas músicas no filme “Homens de Preto” (vídeo), em 1997. Will já ganhou 4 Grammys e tem 11 álbuns lançados. Ouça também “The Two Of Us”.

Hilary Duff

A moça começou na carreira de atriz em 1998, mas só em 2002 é que começou a fazer aulas de canto e se dedicar mais a música (já aí ela gravou a música “I Can’t Wait”, para a trilha sonora de “Lizzie McGuire”). Seu primeiro álbum, “Metamorphosis”, saiu em 2003, chegou ao topo das paradas e fez todo mundo cantar “So Yesterday” (vídeo). Desde lá, ela já lançou mais 3 álbuns, incluindo “Dignity”, de 2007.

A banda “Big Japan” nem é tão conhecida, mas só por ter como baterista o ator Adam Brody (o Seth, de “The O.C.”), a gente já ama demais. Por causa das gravações do nosso nerd mais fofo do mundo, os caras só tocam de vez enquando.

Lembram da “Vagabanda”, bandinha da novela “Malhação” em 2005? A gente amava demais as músicas “Por mais que eu tente” (vídeo) e “Você sempre será”. Mas a Marjorie, que era a vocal da banda ficticia, não caiu nessa do nada. a moça já havia cursado faculdade de música e tudo mais. Depois da novela, a atriz estourou nas rádios e vendeu mais de 150 mil cópias de seu CD.

Leighton Meester

A gente ama músicas pra dançar. E é por isso que a gente ama a atriz, que faz a patricinha Blair. Ela também apostou na carreira como cantora e lançou a música “Birthday”, superanimada e incrível.

Quanta gente que ama rock! O ator Jackson Rathbone, que faz o personagem Jasper Hale, em “Crepúsculo”, também tem uma banda, na qual toca guitarra e canta. vejam o que acham da banda “100 Monkeys”.

Paris Hilton

A nossa patricinha bafo não se contentou em ser rica, famosa e ter todos os gatos aos seus pés. Ela virou atriz e mais… cantora! A música “Stars are blind” fez o maior sucesso na internet, mas a que bombou mesmo foi “Nothing in This World, que tem um clipe super fofo que condena o bullying na escola de uma forma super engraçadinha.

Ed Westwick

Mas esses atores de “Gossip Girl” gostam mesmo de soltar a voz, hein? E todos são super descoladinhos na música. O Ed, que faz o “Chuck” no seriado, tem uma banda mega indie chamada “The Filthy Youth”. O ator é o vocalista e também só toca quando não está gravando.

Lindsay Lohan

A atriz começou a se dedicar a música em 1999, mas lançou seu primeiro single só em 2004. “Rumors”, que atingiu o topo das paradas também ganhou muuuito espaço na MTV. O segundo álbum, “A Little More Personal” foi um fracasso e desde então Lindsay não divulga nada.

Scarlett Johansson

A gente já conhece a atriz pelo papel de Charlotte em “Encontros e Desencontros” e por Anna em “Ele Não Está Tão a Fim de Você”, mas sabemos que ela tem uma quedinha muuuito grande por música. É por isso que Scarlett já tem até um álbum pop inteiro gravado, chamado “Anywhere I Lay My Head”.

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga já se vê atuando – depois de ter feito uma participação em um capítulo da série Gossip Girl a cantora agora quer participar de um musical. Uma fonte próxima da cantora afirma que ela gostaria de mesclar ópera e rock nas telonas e talvez em um futuro próximo atuar em um filme do gênero drama.

The ‘Tiz’, Ashley Tisdale was seen leaving a gym in Los Angeles, CA earlier yesterday. Tisdale was seen sporting an Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) drink bottle, saying ‘Team Edward’! Looks like we know what team Tisdale is on!

Earlier this week, Ashley was the special guest on hand at the first annual M Magazine sponsored Halloween fete at club Marquee, on Wednesday (November 11th). At the event, Tisdale autographed copies of her sophomore album, Guilty Pleasure! Tisdale will be performing a free concert at the Citadel mall in Los Angeles on November 21st.

Thomas, Shelia and their daughters: Hannah, Hailey and Heather Hinman (the triple H’s)  from Hazel Green, WI came in the other day to upgrade to a more spacious vehicle. While the girls played, the parents took care of business.  Soon they were ready to roll out with their new set of wheels,  but I couldn’t let them go without letting the world hear their story!

Hey guys! Thanks for waiting up to do an interview with me. What brought you into Runde’s today?
We needed a car that would fit our family and wanted to stay local for the purchase.

What led you to Runde’s instead of a different dealership?
Shelia: I’ve lived around this area my whole life and know Runde’s to be a good place by reputation.

What vehicle did you end up buying?
We got a 2008 Chevy Impala. We needed a family car and it’ll work out great.

Your sales person was Al Kloft, what did you think of Al ?
He was great, very helpful and nice to the kids.

I see that they got some goodies to play with while they waited.
Yeah, Heather loved playing with the stuff. They gave us monkey’s, footballs, coloring books, coffee mugs, free hot chocolate…

Tom: I’m heading back to Iraq and won’t be back ‘till January so I guess I’ll be missing it this year.

Hannah: We’ll have to have grandma help us with the Christmas tree…

What do you like to do as a family?
The girls and I have been hunting for the last week. We like camping, playing ball, going to water parks.

Where do you go camping?
Just in the area. Galena, Potosi, Blackhawk, Governor Dodge Park –places like that.

Are all of you in school?
All three: Yep!

Where do you all go?
Shelia: Hannah is still in preschool.
Hailey: 3rd grade!
Heather: 5th grade at the Southwestern Elementary School.

You like going to school?
Hailey: Sure do!

Tom and Shelia, what do you do for a living?
I work at Cuttingham and Butler and she works at B.L. Murray just down the road from here.

Hailey: I work at school!

Do you have a favorite movie Hannah?
Yeah… High School Musical (Hannah gave a big smile with her answer).

Shelia: It was a great experience. I don’t like buying cars, it gives me a headache, but this was a good experience.

It was a few weeks ago now, but I left my job of beading to follow my dreams and work full time as a possum tamer.

Christmas Cows & Cannibal Cows

Ahhh..to be a Christmas Cow.  How sweet would that be?  But, I’m not sure I would want to be a human-eating, Cannibal Christmas cow..that would be wrong..and gross.  Why did I mention that disgusting-ness?  You’ll find out at the end.  So be sure to keep riding the Christmas Cow on your journey through this blog.

~Last weekend I got a chance to check out some of the really neat Christmas lights around Oxford Circus on the way to church (@ All Soul’s Church this time).  It was pretty fantastic, and the pics I have here are the best I could do with my little, but serviceable “point & click” camera.  Maybe one day when I want to splurge the cash on a really nice camera and take some formal training just for fun, I can take some really awesome pictures that would really make the cows call home. Moo!!

Anyway, these “Christmas Carol” lights were part of that whole “Christmas Switch-on” thing.  But marketing gimmick or not, it still seemed pretty neat and really created a nice magical aura to the the Oxford Circus (which is typically a shopping haven for Londoners).

my Toilet brush!!!  It was only £1.  “only”.  But still cheaper than everywhere else.  A very important tool I must say.
