Can’t seem to shake this Jay-Z bug I have.  Everything I’ve tried has not shaken it. Has anyone else been having problems with trying to get away from the Blueprint 3? It’s cocky, it’s real, it’s Jay-Z at his best.  It’s late and random thoughts keep occuring. Check it out and hear it for yourselves. You will not be disapointed.

I was scouring through my room, looking for valuable pieces to add to my portfolio for the Mock Interview tomorrow. And this old piece of work caught my eye. It was a feature article I did in the past for the Feature Writing module.

The article I wrote talked about how Mobile phone technology was developing at such a rapid pace (In fact all digital technologies to be precise), that some if not most, of the older generation was losing touch with it.

 This made me reflect for quite a bit. Myself, a young man, already having some difficulties with some of the latest tech of today - Twitter, Tumblr etc. What is going to happen to me when I grow old and grey? At the rate things are going, I am probably to end up in the same predicament as my interviewee.

I always thought and prided myself on being a hip, trendy parent to my kids in the future. But I fear my offspring and the future generation would perceive me the same way I did to my kin – dour, passe and out of touch.

Today’s mobile technology – Alien or Earthly?

Carl Zeiss™, Bluetooth™, MMS, Symbian anyone? These are already common mobile phone terms that might already sound unrecognisable to the youths and working adults of today. So what about the baby boomers of society?

Confusing, frustrating are the common refrains being heard. Especially so forPoh Ah Peng, a store keeper with 2 children, who has been using the technology for years.

“All the latest new-fangled mobile phones’ functions and their jargons are a bane to old timers like us,” declares Poh, a 52 year baby boomer. “What ever happened to the good old days when all a mobile phone did was to call, send and receive messages?”

Indeed the mobile phones of this era has come a long way since the pioneering batch, referred to as First Generation or 1G, were introduced to the public market in 1983 by the Motorola Company.

Now we are currently at the age of 3.5G. The de-facto standard for mobile technology today. But is it a case of too much, too soon for the older generation?

“When I got my first mobile phone, it was just this plain old simple Nokia model,” Poh says as he tries to rummage through his cabinet to demonstrate his old model. “Now I have this Samsung phone with a camera in-built in it. And just a few years back cameras were these bulky objects with film in them!”

It seems like all the latest cellular devices, are like alien and foreign technology to the baby boomer generation, with an invisible barrier springing up with every new product coming into the market.

Sony Ericsson with their “Cyber-shot” Phones, LG with their tie ups with global fashion house Prada, and Nokia with their Carl Zeiss’s camera lenses – are classic examples that come to mind.

“You know what is worse than the mobile phones themselves?” continues Poh after he answers a quick call off his mobile phone. “The jargons people use to describe them.”

With terms like Bluetooth™ technology, Java and all the related jargon mobile companies are rattling off. It is little wonder that even the younger generations are too being overwhelmed by the rate of change.

“Last week my daughter came up to me and said she wants another phone,” groans Poh as he massaged his temples. “I asked why, and she said she can’t use her phone because it was too complicated already.”

Furthermore, there are studies that show that mobile phones emit radiation that causes cancer in the body. Does that further lessen the appeal of the technology in the eyes of the older generation?

“If the studies are proven, then definitely it would damage the technology in our eyes,” Poh replies. “Ultimately, we all want technology that is safe and beneficial to mankind and not cancer causing time bombs.”

Now, the question that begs to be answered is what can the mobile companies do to counter all this negative perceptions of the new technologies among the baby boomer generation today?

“Well the first thing to do is this,” says Poh as he points to a mobile phone commercial on the television set. “Revamp all those confusing ads running on television now.” He continues, “Most of them just showcase nice and stylish graphics but not explain the functions.”

“Secondly, maybe the mobile companies should include more information about the new technologies in their brochures and catalogues,” he adds with a fluster. “They shouldn’t expect everyone to be technology savvy especially the older folks.”

“Finally please stop the jargon,” he elaborates further. “Terms like Bluetooth™doesn’t explain anything, neither does Java and Symbian. Make the language easier to understand.”

With that, we asked Poh to describe the technology in three words.

“Beneficial, useful,” and then adding with a grin. “Complicated.”

It had been almost over a year since i wrote my article about Hollister, but yet i still had the job.

I did not seem to mind anymore. I continued the tradition of swallowing my pride, but no longer  did I care about my discount, my job became an important social aspect of my life.

Oh yes, this was until we got the new boss.

Everyone knows what it’s like getting a new boss. He or she will either be a pushover or a complete toolbag. For me, it always seems to be the latter.

His name was Derek. He was a large man who barely fit into the company’s clothing. This was because he spent most of his life at the gym. I think by spending so much time sculpting his guns he may have constricted a few too many blood vessels.

He seemed to have been pointing out flaws in everyone’s work and letting us go unappreciated for the hours we were putting in.Luckily for me, he hadn’t found a flaw yet.

I think this panicked him. So for my final month working, he stalked me. Hid behind plants, lurked quietly in the corner, watching, waiting for me to screw up. And then I did.

A woman old enough to George Burn’s mother walked into our store. I was not about to berate this woman with the company’s tagline “Hey, what’ up?” It would have only have confused her, and I did not feel like giving this woman a cerebral aneurysm by explaining it.

"My mother was a saint!"

So I said “Hi, how are you doing today?!”

Big fucking mistake.

According to my manager, being hip and cool out weighs friendly and polite. No more could i work for this man, so I wrote him this letter

“Dear Derek,

If you don’t know by now, I don’t enjoy my job. If you haven’t noticed, it’s because you’re completely devoid of human emotion.

I started this job with high hopes. I thought working here would be a relaxed environment; my oh my how naïve I was.

I soon was whisked into a world of mass consumerism and materialism that I couldn’t have begun to fathom before I started working here. For instance: the company’s idea of model standards.

I’m not an idiot; I can hear your conference calls. I heard Chelsea complaining about our model’s not wearing enough plaid. I heard the other managers talking about their new recruitments. “I think she’s really cute, she’d be great” or “I don’t like him, especially after he shaved his head.”

How about this, who gives a fuck?

It wasn’t until recently that I realized this, I’ve known this forever. If you didn’t know I’ve been with the company longer than you have, so for me to only notice this now would be absurd.

The last string was pulled earlier this week. According to anonymous sources at the manager meeting, the managers, you believe that we are stressed out because of the company’s instance for us to wear plaid.

^Way too stressed out

I’m tired of making witty comments and transfusing them with sarcasm, so I’m just going to be blunt. It’s not the plaid; it’s you.

By hearing this quote I realized there is no getting through to you. You have no idea of how other human beings think or act. It’s the only explanation

You’re like a robot.

But it doesn’t matter, because you don’t. I can think of a long list of things that are more important than Hollister’s and your impact in the world including Atkins, contact lenses, snuggies, antiperspirant deodorant,  Go-gurt, crystal meth, red states, socialism, Hayden Panterrie, that funny asian guy off of Knocked Up, construction paper, Bonanza, barracudas, cheap cologne, and George Clooney.

So I’m going to go back to my life of yager bombs and happiness and you can go back to yours of snorting testosterone and So Cal.

Hello all you bloggers this is Motoko blogging.

Well the rain still comes and with rain comes flooding, we are now really cut off from the closeted down about five miles away. Bottom of our yards driveway and the lane it leads too is totally flooded. Jenny felt like she wanted to test the depth by walking into it. It proved that the water was hip height, so after flooding her hunter wellies and wading back out we she agreed that it was not the best way to test the depth. So she now has her waterproof trousers and her socks and hunter wellies and jeans on cloths horse in front of our log fire. Told her next time she should try something like that she should year a lifejacket or buoyancy aid and a drysuit, that didn’t go down to well and only reply I got from her was a raised eye brow followed by a frown.

This morning we mucked out the whole yard between us, it didn’t take that long really. Part time people for very clear reasons can’t get in. So until they can and the flood water goes away me and Jenny will do the mornings on the yard on Fri, Sat and Sun and then some of our other staff that live in the stable cottages can do the afternoon and evening. So far its working really well, downside is that one of our part time girls is a college student who helps on Fridays, he arrived before the flood water burst into the lanes. So she is now sharing a cottage with Anna as she can’t get home or to college for that matter.

Our paddocks are oke which really surprised me. Oke in the way that they are still there and not been swept away by the flood water, but two out of five paddocks are flooded and the grazing is not that great but we will work around it.

Ground floor flooded again last night even though we added more sand bags, its like a bunker now and still the water floods in, never mind. We broke the hunters out and grabbed a broom each and swept it out in record time, as it didn’t flood as bad as before. I’ve stocked up on logs for the fire and we have plenty of food so I am sure that we will be ok.

The RNLI need to be thanked I think for helping our little part of the world that is Cumbria. With out you people would be stuck in cars, homes and other places. So I would like to thank the brave RNLI women and men who have been helping.

A year ago, Annika Sorenstam was picking up the pieces. She and David Esch had filed for divorce Feb. 4, 2005, after a stormy 14 months in which they tried to decide whether their relationship was worth saving, a stretch that spanned a tear-filled 2004 in which she remarkably won eight LPGA events. Asked whether her life is better now, Sorenstam laughs and says, “Yes, a lot better.”

With the same discipline she uses to put a poor shot behind her, Sorenstam has moved on. In Mike McGee, a 31-year-old agent for International Golf Partners and the son of four-time PGA Tour winner and 1977 Ryder Cup team member Jerry McGee, she has found a friend she says “really looks out for my best, and he knows all about what I do since he grew up on the tour.” Sorenstam’s divorce was finalized Aug. 22, and shortly thereafter, doctors were able to sort out a mysterious hip problem that had obstructed her pivot much of the year.

“I met with doctors after returning home to Orlando [in September], and they fixed it, even though it took them four sessions,” Sorenstam said. “They used a new therapy called ‘Body Talk’ and told me I probably got the problems in my hip because of the things I’ve gone through in my personal life. It was a mental thing that made me fragile in a physical way. All was fine after September. I can swing the clubs like I want now.”

The injury, in which a bone moved in her right hip, could explain why she won only once in eight tournaments — starting at the U.S. Open — after six victories in her first eight starts. After treatment, Sorenstam closed the year by winning three of her last four tournaments — a stretch that began at the Samsung World Championship, the first event in which Michelle Wie competed as a pro.

Sorenstam, 35, is coming off a 10-win season and a five-year stretch in which she has won 43 times and pushed her career total to 66 victories, trailing only Mickey Wright (82) and Kathy Whitworth (88). An athlete who loves a challenge, Sorenstam once again is dangling the Grand Slam as the carrot she is chasing. By the end of last season, she also seemed to be gaining motivation from younger competitors. She won by 8 in Wie’s debut and dispatched Paula Creamer in the ADT Championship after Creamer twice challenged her on the rules in the first round.

In another display of letting go of the past, Sorenstam, the team captain, paired herself with Creamer in the Lexus Cup in December.

“She didn’t want [the situation] to linger,” one Sorenstam friend said. “She wanted to end it right there.”

Sorenstam teamed with Liselotte Neumann as Sweden won the Women’s World Cup last month, then left for her Nevada home to ski and relax. She will skip the first two LPGA tournaments of the new season and make her first start March 10-12 in Mexico at the MasterCard Classic, where she is the defending champion.

The world has different kinds of faces and races. Every individual is kinda unique. Every person possess different qualities or characteristics. Take a look at the pictures below…

Which do you think is  Hip?  Square?

Just by looking at the pictures, any person can tell that the one on the left is a square and on the right is a hip.

Before we start, let us first get acquainted with the definitions of these two common slang words, Hip means being stylish, trendy, familiar or updated with the latest trends, developments, ideas, and styles. Square is a a person who is ignorant of or uninterested in current fads, ideas, manners, tastes some who is regarded as dull, rigidly conventional, old fashioned and out of touch with current trends. Despite all these negative values, Square also means  being fair, just or honest.

Out of nowhere, something just popped out my mind, why not be Hip and Square at the same time. perhaps lot of people are gonna ask me “Is that possible?”.  Believe it or not, something thought impossible, will now be possible through the help of this video

Based on the video and some resources, square is a four sided figures, which meets at right angles. The meeting point of the sides are called vertices. The diagonals of a square are the two lines joining opposite vertices; they are of equal length and are the perpendicular bisectors of one another. We can get the perimeter by adding the lengths of the four sides, or by using this formula, P=4 s, where s is the length of a side. For the area, just raise the length of the side by itself or by using the formula A= s² . The square is one of most familiar geometric figures and has long had various symbolic meanings in religion and art.

To be a hip square, just follow these tips; first, be updated with the latest trends, second respect the traditions of the old third practice honesty, even-handedness and fairness to everybody.

Of all people I know Christian Bautista, a Filipino singer, actor and model, would be a perfect example of a hip square. Just by looking at him anybody will be able see that he acquainted with the latest fads and styles. If you did deeper at his background, being a Born Again Christian, he wakes up every 3 o’clock in the morn to pray and seek His words.

I assure you with the tip  a sprinkle determination and willpower, and hard work, someone can be Hip and Square without difficulty.
