Metallica and Kid Cudi – My World.

Two quite different songs, yet two very good songs. Metallica’s My World from St. Anger released June 5 2003, and Kid Cudi’s My World from Man on the Moon: The End of Day released September 15 2009.

I really enjoyed St. Anger, and “My World” is no exception. I really do not understand what is not to be liked. However I digress.

From Metallica’s track, I get the meaning as being, at least personally, that My World is my life and what it contains, and you cannot have it, as per the song lyrics.

I don’t even know what the question is

are lyrics I have had stuck in my head numerous times.

For about ten seconds prior to those lines is a nice instrumental bit. Of course it definitely is not long enough.

Kid Cudi’s “My World”, as I mentioned in the LP of the week entry on the album, is a good spine chiller track.

The meaning from the track is quite different. Basically stating how back in the day he stated he’d be the “hot shit”, and well, as Billy Cravens sings, he told you so.

I think many people think that, and well, it is good to dream, it is also wise to be realistic. To make reference to another hip hop track, Nas’s “I Can”, and I quote,

I know I can (I know I can)
Be what I wanna be (be what I wanna be)
If I work hard at it (if I work at it)
I’ll be where I want to be (I’ll be where I want to be)

Tung psykadelisk hiphop från hiphopen’s guldålder på mitteln av 90-talet. New Kingdom med Mexico or bust. Jag hörde just denna låter på YO! när den var nyutkommen och spelade in den på kassett direkt på teven, med bristande kvalité. Den var så fet att jag nästan smälte. Nu har jag ingen kassettspelare och inte heller någon aning om var det bandet tog vägen. Det slets väl ut som bra blandband sig bör. Om det är någon som råkar ligga inne på albumet hemma eller på datorn, hojta gärna. Kan ej finna det idag.

Jag kommer ihåg första gången jag hörde Maskinen. Det var när jag stog i tvätthallen på jobbet och tvättade en grävmaskin när Alla som inte dansar dök upp i mina radiohörselkåpor. Jag fånlog och dansade hela låten igenom. Sånt ös!!! Inget annat i Hiphopsverige har lyckats leverera något dylikt sen dess. Dem har verkligen ett eget sound som kan få vem som helst att skaka rumpan.

Texterna är ju ett kapitel för sig som lyckats dra på sig medias spotlight samt en polisanmälning… Men det är väl sånt man får räkna med om man skriver om sånt som är svårskämtat. Själv ser jag till ex. låten pengar som en helt fantastisk kommentar till dem rådande värderingarna inom hiphopvärlden. Money, cash, hoes blir bakvänt så det bara skriker om det! Framförallt i kombination med videon. Otroligt roligt (och välbehövligt)

Sen så är det ju sjukt mycket kids som gillar musiken.. Men det är väl främst för hitkänslan. Det är ju inte riktat till barn, precis som att inte Markoolio riktade sig till barn från början heller =P

Well. Maskinen är ett fenomen. Ett älskat och ett hatat sådant och det ska bli spännande att följa deras fortsatta karriär!

Its official, AllHipHop has reprted that Jay-Z and Nas are officially remixing the hit single Empire State of Mind.  It had been rumoured that Nas was not feeling being on the original (which he was slated to be) due to the closeness in essence of the song to his past underground hit, ‘New York State of Mind’.  I CANNOT WAIT!

The Top 10 doesn’t have a lot of Hip-Hop on it but we do have a new entry.  Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson enters the charts at in the fifth slot with his latest album Before I Self Destruct.  The queens MC managed to sell about 160,000 copies of his fourth disc which, to date, is the lowest sales the rapper has produced.  The reviews for the album have been mixed but I will say that the movie that comes with it is not bad.  In fact it’s pretty good.  50 has already come forward and said that the album leaked from an international plant which is not hard to believe.  The album was everywhere…but is that the reason for the low sales?  What do ya’ll think?  Nevertheless, this is a hater’s wet dream! The next question is how does an MC that has always spent a lot of time focusing on numbers (especially the numbers of rappers he doesn’t like) deal with the fact that his latest album hasn’t put up good numbers.  I hope its go back to the studio (hungry) and put out another album.  We’ll see.

Det har skjedd så mange ganger… det kommer en ny rapper fra New York med et tryne fyllt av attitude og lommene fulle av skills som lager en sinsyk gatebuzz. “Alle” vet at han her kommer til å bli stor! En av de største. Men hvor er det blitt av Papoose? Hvor er Saigon?? Og hvor ble det av Grafh???

Må innrømme at jeg ikke er så oppdatert som jeg var back in the day så jeg tok en runde på youtube og han slapp jo faktisk et par kule tracks i fjor. Hiver på et par gamle låter også som du kan mimre til. Gatebangeren “Bang out” hadde selvfølgelig Sony fucket up så jeg kunne ikke legge ut en embeded link til låten, men klikk deg inn på linken her hvis du vil sjekke den ut.

MediaTakeOut.com learned that Rihanna and her people are PANICKING!!! According to our insider her label Def Jam is extremely worried that Rihanna’s new album, Rated R is not performing.

And it gets worse. Early numbers say that Rih has been outpaced 2x over by UK singer Susan Boyle and a Lady Gaga Rereleases. So it’s looking like she may only have a number 3 record.

To save face, MediaTajkeOut.com learned that Def Jam marked down her album price to $3.99 on Amazon yesterday. And that today they’re having an early morning meeting to decide whether to sell it as a .99 cent special on black friday.

Sales are bad it seems.

Heute wollte ich eigentlich zum Tango Argentino aber bekam dann ein SMS von meiner Tanzpartnerin, dass sie sich von der Schweinegrippe (!)  habe flachlegen lassen

Das hat aber insofern wiederum gepasst, als dass ich dann von einem Kumpel zum Konzert von Sido eingeladen wurde.  Der Bruder von dessen Freundin (tolle Connection, wa?) ist Musikproduzent in Berlin und mit Sido befreundet. Dieser hat uns dann kurzerhand auf die VIP Gästeliste gesetzt.

Anbei einige Multimedia-Impressionen vom Sido Hey Du! Tour 2009 Mannheim in der “Alte Feuerwache“. Bin eigentlich kein so großer Fan vom deutschen Rap, aber das war dann doch echt gute Party!

Somebody hit me up with this one as a rumor but it’s not. They wanted to ask me about Lil Wayne getting raped at the age of 11 by a woman. I don’t know the age of the girl/woman that raped him. But, he said he was raped at 11. See below.



If the woman was over the age of 17, that’s rape. I know Wayne says he loved it, but it’s very possible that he didn’t. You know, with him saying he was raped, it’s pretty clear that he was in that mental state if he used those specific terms, rather than saying he lost his virginity at 11.

50 Cent and Taco Bell settled a lawsuit filed by the rapper, after the fast-food chain used his name in a commercial to promote tacos on their value menu.

The rapper sued Taco Bell for $1 million dollars in damages over a June 2008 promotion that offered 50 Cent $10,000 to change his name to 79 Cent, 89 Cent or 99 Cent for one day.

50 sued the fast-food chain for using his name and likeness without expressed permission and for making him the “star of a nationwide campaign” without his permission.

Both parties reached a confidential settlement yesterday (November 23) according to lawyers for the rapper.

50 Cent predicted he would emerge victorious in the court battle in a statement to AllHipHop.com in late June of 2008.

“When my legal team is finished with them, Taco Bell is going to have a new corporate slogan: ‘We messed with the bull and got the horns,” the rapper said in a statement.

Cam’ron continues to move the Dipset brand forward with the release of a brand new compilation titled World Domination.

The 22-track street album is the first official release for Cam’s Dipset West imprint, which was launched in July, when Cam announced the formation of the U.N.

The company is a new multimedia entertainment company with divisions in film and music.

“This is one of the strongest street records to come from the West coast in a minute,” Dipset West co-CEO Omar “Ice Man” Sharif told AllHipHop.com. ‘”Fresh new talent from LA, Compton, Long Beach, Hollywood, Brooklyn, Harlem, Queens Bronx all on one joint. Two words: World Domination.”

The new album features appearances by all new members of Dipset, including Begetz, Young Hustel, Philli, Fly Boyz, Lamborgini, Vado, Byrd Lady, Charlie Clipse, Felony Fame and original member Hell Rell.

Appearances by rapper Yukmouth and producers Araab Muzik and J. ClassicZ round out the album, which is hosted by Duke Da God.

The Dipset West World Domination compilation album is due in stores and online on Thanksgiving (November 26).

In related news Cam’ron has announced that he will also drop a new Gangsta Grillz mixtape with DJ Drama on Thanksgiving day as well. 

News of the new album Dipset West album comes on the heels of Cam’ron’s recent proclamation that the original Dipset “was over.”
